Purchased another Ipod do I need to install software again?

I just purchased a new Ipod shuffle for my son - I have a mini - do I really need to install the software and I tunes again before plugging in the shuffle?

Your Shuffle should work just fine, there's no need to reinstall iTunes. Just check you have the latest version of the updater which you can get here: http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/

You would have to purchase a Mac version of CS5. You cannot install a Windows version on a Mac. CS5 is not a current product so you can't get a free platform swap.
Speak to Customer Service and see if it is possible to upgrade to CS6 ($200), and get what is know as a platform swap to Mac.

I downloaded Elements 11 to my laptop about 3 years ago and now purchased a new computer and need to install it.  How do I install Elements without purchasing it again?

I have Elements pulled up on my old computer, can I find it in the program?
No but if your old computer runs Windows then you can use the free Belarc Advisor software to extract the serial number from inside the computer.
Belarc Advisor - Free Personal PC Audit, for software, hardware and security configuration information on your computer.…
Tip for future reference: when buying software, always keep your serial numbers safe and handy. Don't rely on websites, the Cloud or anyone else to retrieve them for you when you need them most. They are the single most important thing you get when you buy software and they are unique to you personally.
You can download software installers from the web any time but, without your unique serial number, you'll be stuck with using the software in trial mode.

  • I just bought Lion from the app store and I was wondering how long it will be there for because you can't buy a hard copy of it and I was told they were fazing it out so if my computer crashes and I need to install it again will it still be there??

FWIW, your profile shows that you are already on Lion - did you buy Mountain Lion?
If you purchase an OS from the Mac App Store, it will be listed under your Purchases and will be available to download again if you need it. Note: the license is only for you and is not transferable; if you sell your Mac, you must uninstall it and reinstall the original system.
If you did buy Lion - out of curiosity - since it is no longer showing in the app store, how did you buy it there? Or did you call Apple and they sent you a redemption code?

Perhaps you can copy it using a different computer, from the disk to a USB key.
However, external DVD drives are cheap and in my view essential.

  • Installed Aperture update, now I can't print - says I need to install software to use this printer.

I prepare a photo in Aperture and send to the printer.  It appears to go through but I get the following error "You need to install software to use this printer. To install the software, choose Software Update from the Apple menu. If the software for your printer isn’t available in Software Update, contact the manufacturer of your printer."  Even though the printer has worked fine for two years up until today.  I re-downloaded the driver from Epson, installed and still the same thing.

I use an Epson 3880.  After upgrading to Lion, I had to upgrade/re-install the Epson printer drivers.  All work now.
There was a glitch in the installation, but I can't remember right now.
OP:  did you get the newest drivers -- for Mountain Lion?  did you uninstall the Epson 3880 before re-installing with the newest drivers?  have you rebooted?

You cannot use a Windows machine.
No idea if this will work because you have/had Ubuntu installed - hit Command + Option + R keys while restarting/booting up. Once in the Utilities, make sure the drive is formatted correctly and erase it, then reinstall the OS.

  • I purchased from previous owner and cannot update installed software

I purchased my MAC Air from previous owner and cannot update installed software: iphoto, numbers, pages...  How may I get access to these software? I am willing to purchase license, if necessary...just do not know what to do.

The first thing you should do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. How you do that depends on the model. Look it up on this page to see what version was originally installed.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc, which you can get from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. I suggest you install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. If you don't have the media, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
Once booted from the disc or in Internet Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive, which is what you should do.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
You should then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. If you want to upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, buy it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Apple customer service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able toauthorize it under your ID. In that case, contact iTunes Support.

    Where do I get this?
It was only released a couple of months ago.
I really feel disinfranchised already by not being able to upgrade and keep up with other software needs but to not allow me to update to my full capacity is really ridiculous.

  • Mavericks Printer software tells me I need to install software?

While my printer is printing, Mavericks printer software throws an error telling me to install software for my printer.
I have reset printer list, I have replaced my EPSON folder in the \Library\Printers with one from a time machine backup.  I have contacted EPSOn who gave me a fix that made my problem even worse.  APP Store tells me I have no updates available for my printer.  My printer will print, but Mavericks keeps throwing this error telling me to install software for my printer.  Anyone know what this error is.
EPSON's site tells me to go to APP store and check for updates.  The driver is version 9, which is the latest, but I am not sure why this is happening lately.  Seemed to happen after the Printer update 2.18 on July 31st.  I am not sure if I need to replace anything else from time machine other than the driver.  I know there is a Photo Stylus R200.app that is buried in the private folder, but not sure if that is the issue.  Trying to find the cause.  The fact that my printer prints, shows up in a list when I delete it and add it back in makes me scratch my head.  It does the same thing whether I am connected normally over WIFI or whether I plug the printer in directly to my Mac Pro.
I tried to reinstall the Printer 2.18 update and it just added a bunch more garbage to my EPSON folder for printer's I don't have on my system.

Ignore it. I get the same message for our Epson 4900, despite using the latest drivers from Epson which are for this printer. The only time I actually see the message is if I open the print queue. I've learned to completely ignore the yellow caution symbol on the Dock. It prints just as it should every time despite Mavericks' non stop warning.
The Mavericks driver for the Xerox 7500 also has a bug where it randomly reports the waste toner cartridge is full. You have ignore that one, too, and replace the cartridge only if the display panel on the printer itself says it's full.

  • I purchased a movie for my last ipod nana on my last laptop but it's not showing up in my purchased items. Do I need to buy it again? Or what do I do?

I had my last laptop stolen with the movie on there along with my other itune purchases, but then I had to return my ipod nano bought a new ipod nano and I got back all my other purchases items(songs) but I didn't get my movie. I was wondering is there a way to get it back?

You should be regularly backing up. You will have to purchase again as there is no way to retreive a movie.
Music and TV shows can be reloaded (currently US only) as well as Apps and books

  • Why do I need to install Lion again?

This is an odd one.. I have tried to search the support communities to see if anyone else is having the same problem but cant find it so this could be an isolated case... Anyway....
I have just updated my Lion OSX to the latest version 10.7.3 through the Mac app store - while it was downloading and to kill a bit of time while it was downloading  I clicked onto the 'Purchased' tab to have a browse at my previous purchases and noticed that it was asking me to download the full version of Lion again!!.. The 4GB version... Has anyone else noticed this in their purchase tab? - I have checked the other Macs I have in case it was just the machine I was working on but all of them are saying the something. Appreciate your comments back before I download it again... Maybe its just a glitch in the app store but wanted to check if anyone else has had the same message. Thanks.

UPDATE... Gone onto the mac store today and now in the purchase tab Lion has been removed so looks like I have not even purchased it... I did a search for it in the store and instead of saying "Installed" - its giving me the selling price... Just like it does when you first purchase the software!!
    What's going on?... HELP!!!
