Purchased content won't download

My Apple TV, which I just reconnected after a long hiatus, won't download/stream my purchased movies or TV shows from iTunes. It just gives me the circular spinning wheel for a long time (I once left it going for half an hour). It shows everything else (Netflix, movie previews, Hulu Plus, etc.)
I believe this is the Apple TV version 2. I tried to do the most recent software update, but it failed.

Hey Dan,
If you are having an issue with playing content from the iTunes Store on your Apple TV, I would suggest first restarting the Apple TV. See this article -
How to restart your Apple TV - Apple Support
If you continue to experience the issue, you will need to restore the Apple TV. See this article -

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Be well,

  • ITunes connection reset for all purchased content - won't download!

    Hello,
I see many archived messages about this issue, however, it is a new problem for me.  I have until now been able to download entire Seasons of shows without an issue, without interruption.  Now, a single half-hour episode in standard definition fails.
Suddenly, any purchased content in iTunes - movies, TV shows, etc. - will not download into my Library, and I get a "network connection was reset" error.  I am running iTunes 11.1.5 on Mavericks.
Recently I purchased & installed MacKeeper.  I know it is a long shot, since this appears to be a network issue, but it is the only "change" introduced in recent weeks.
    Hoping you can assist.
    Thank you.
    Anne Mowat

Well, I am very doubtful the issue was ever ISP related - I am not on Comcast nor even on cable (fioptics phone). And several other threads show many different ISP's across the globe were involved! Hence Apple Support seems to have indeed been trying to offload the problem... especially in light of what happened to me today!
I just upgraded to iTunes 11.2 and OS X 10.9.3 with the same positive results as harrharr's post, with either or both updates fixing the problem!
I downloaded 3 large movie files (make that 5 as 2 more just finished as I edited this!), each about 1GB in size with "Allow simultaneous downloads" on. All files finished on their own!! I haven't even come close to these results this week with the last movie I downloaded Wed taking over 15 restarts to finish! Now, I could be off to a lucky Fri, AND it could be either the iTunes or OS X update that fixed it (installed both at the same time so can't determine which one did it). Either way, it appears to be fixed and as I suspected the problem was on the Apple side, not anything I did with my router or any change from my ISP. Fingers crossed!
That said, if it is fixed, shame on you iTunes and Apple Support! Why do you continue to either (1) be so out of touch with your own products (developers not sharing what they are fixing?) or (2) so secretive admitting something you have might be broken and you are working on a fix! So darn frustrating...
So try iTunes 11.2 and OS X 10.9.3 updates and see if it works for you too!

  • Purchased content won't sync back to computer from Apple TV

I purchase quite a bit of content on my Apple TV. Most of the time the tv shows sync back to the computer after download to the Apple TV without any problems. Recently though many of my shows are stranded on the Apple TV. This has also happened for the 3 movies I have purchased from the Apple TV.
Anyone have a similar problem and could suggest a solution?

Originally, for the first 9 months of ownership, everything i purchased on the apple tv would automatically sync back to the main itunes computer. Then I purchased a few movies and they never synced to the computer. Continued to purchase tv shows with those successfully syncing to computer. In the last month though many of the tv shows are stranded on the apple tv with no syncing back to the computer. Tried purchasing some free shows (newly released stuff today after the itunes update) and they seem to be syncing back to the computer okay. So I have some movies and lots of tv shows that are in limbo on the apple tv and have never been synced back to the computer.
Even stranger my apple tv doesn't show up on the sidebar under devices after updating itunes today. It still shows under devices in the preferences window and i see the library on the apple tv. Unfortunately with the stranded content i am afraid to break the connection and reestablish for fear of losing the content that is on the apple tv but not on the computer.
Would be nice to get a little insight on this from apple since it seems this question shows up many times.

  • SOME purchased songs won't download

This has probably already been asked and answered, but I can't find it.
The following is my inquiry to Apple:
"I have purchased tens of thousands of songs, representing thousands of albums over the past few years. During the past year & a half, I have accumulated 220 songs which refuse to download. That is the number showing in "Downloads," just below "Purchased," When I attempt to download them, I always get the following message:
"Unable to check for available downloads. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." EVERY TIME.
I don't get this message or any other message whenever I browse thru the store, or purchase more music or apps.
There must be a way for iTunes to make these 220 songs, which I have paid for, downloadable. If this is not possible, then I respectfully request a credit or refund."
Hopefully, one of you has an answer or helpful input.

You can submit the request to iTunes Customer Service at their web page.

  • My purchased songs won't download, connection timed out (error -3259)

Every time i purchase a song it says for example: There was a problem downloading “It's Not My Time / It's Not My Time - Single / 3 Doors Down”.
The network connection timed out. It says error -3259. This is very irritating SOMEONE HELP ME?!?!?!?!? PLEASE

several issues were related to poor band width. Even though my cable dsl was considered high speed, I needed to upgrade to the next level up of high speed internet with my ISP to get full band width. As soon as this change took place, all my downloading issues were resolved. It had nothing to do with the itunes software.

  • Purchased Season - Won't Download Last 3 Episodes

I purchased Scrubs Season 6 for $34.99, but the last three episodes did not downlaod, and I do not have the option to download them anywhere.
Please help. I don't want to pay another $6 for them.
    Thanks
    -John

Look under the Store menu in iTunes for the "Check for purchases" command and run that. You may find the episodes there to be downloaded.
If not, contact the iTunes Store using the form linked from the bottom of the Download FAQ web page and explain the problem to them.
    Good luck.

  • TS1702 purchased app won't download

I have  purchased Eden for my son. And for some reason it will not download correctly on to his touch. It will show in usage that it is there but the icon never appears. I can install and uninstall all other apps just fine. Any ideas what might be happening?
I even contacted the creators of the game and they told me to trie what I had already tried or contact Apple. I can't get any help from apple with out paying them. Even though I have tried all of their suggested fixes.

Are there any Restrictions set that would prevent installing the app? Settings>General>Restriction

If you do not have the contacts accessible on a computer, iOS device or service like iCloud then they are gone unless you can get them from your school's IT department.

  • IPad Mini reset and now purchased apps won't download for free.

Okay, so I just accidently got my iPad Mini in restore mode and I had to restore it. I didn't have any backups. After that, all went well, I didn't care much that some of my apps were gone. However, even though I'm logged into my apple ID that I downloaded it with, Minecraft PE costs money! So do all the other apps that I purchased before. I don't want to have to re-buy something that I already had! How can I fix this?

Go to Setting > iTunes & App Stores > Tap on your Apple ID and select Sign Out.
    Restart your iPad.
Go to the App Store and download any free app.
Once it's done installing, Go back to the App Store, then tap 'Purchased' at the bottom
You should at least see the new free app at this point.
Let me know how that goes.

  • Mountain Lion has been purchased, but won't download

I have purchased a copy of Mtn Lion, but can't get it to start downloading from the app store. It shows up in the "purchased" category. When I try to download it, all I get is the windmill like icon in the top left of the window by the arrows. If I switch categories, it stops, and it's like I was never downloading it in the first place. Any suggestions about how to get past this point?

Try to download from iTunes.  Restart your MacBook Pro and try again. Make sure your updated.

  • Newly Purchased LRM2 Won't Download

I just purchased LRM2, and tried to download the WIN version. After installing the Adobe Download Manager java app, and just as it initiates the download, I receive a message stating the following:
    Download integrity is invalid.
Try to download a fresh copy of the URL.
Would you like to start over? Yes/No.
Choosing yes, just repeats the process.
    Anybody else seeing this?
Why can't adobe get these things right? Why a "download manager", just give me a link! Why does their service and support have to suck? I think people stay with Adobe products because they are good, and there are no real alternatives, and we just put up with it. At some point, there will be alternatives to Adobe, and we will all be so tired of putting up with it that we'll migrate to better support.

    James,
Thanks for all your help. Out of all the folks out there, I was lucky enough to get Jimmy here to answer my post. Lucky me...
BTW, how is it a browser error, when its not even the browser that is running? It is Adobe's DLM application that is reporting the error. BTW, I've tried this using both IE and Firefox. BTW, you didn't answer the question I asked. BTW, 98%, are you kidding me?? Have you read any of the other posts on this forum?? My comments don't come from just this one event. I've been using Adobe's products for MANY years, own Design Pro CS3, and use every app it contains. I know well many of the bugs in the SW because I work around them daily. BTW, I just saw the other day where someone on one of my subscriptions - about CS3 not even installing correctly - that decided to go with the alternative without even trying Adobe. Adobe is losing customers because there are so many people posting all the problems they face with Adobe's less than admirable QA.
BTW, and IMO, Adobe just doesn't try hard enough. They can work on that. I'm a shareholder, so I can complain. What about you, Jimmy, what do you have invested in all this, or are you just a groupie?
BTW, everyone else, please excuse my sarcasm, but responses like Jimmy's here really make me smile.

  • Certain purchased songs won't download to ipod??

I've had this problem for quite a while. I plug the ipod in and it never downloads the certain songs. I have tried unchecking them and connecting the ipod then checking them back and connecting it again and it will say that it's copying the songs but they're still not on my ipod. Every once in a while it will say ERROR: one or more songs could not be downloaded to ipod touch. They will download to my ipod shuffle but not my ipod touch. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

First step: when you get that Error message in iTunes, there's a disclosure triangle that expands the dialog box and explains exactly why each song failed to sync. What does it say?

  • Videos from purchased CD won't download properly - Errors 3159 or 3250

I bought and downloaded Beck's new CD. Several videos were part of the package but none of them downloaded. Each had either of the two following Errors: 3159 or 3250. How do I get them to download properly without repurchasing the entire thing...which I'm not about to do? Btw, I'm using the latest, updated version of iTunes.
    Thanks for the help.
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I had the exact same problem with the exact same CD. It successfully downloaded 3 of the songs/videos, and charged me for the whole CD...and I too had errors for most of them.
Please help -- because I also do not want to buy the CD again!
