Have just purchased a new mac book pro, am now having issues syncing my apps to my new mac?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You already have got OS X Mavericks installed (the Keynote, Pages and Numbers versions available in the Mac App Store are only compatible with OS X Mavericks).
You have got a Late 2013 MacBook Pro, which uses a special OS X Mavericks version that is not available in the Mac App Store. This is the reason why the Mac App Store is not compatible with OS X Mavericks even if you are using it. This will be fixed in OS X 10.9.1, when your Mac uses the same Mavericks version as all other Macs.
Until then, you can reinstall OS X through OS X Recovery > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718

Recently upgraded to a Canon Mark 3 and now having issues with my RAW files in Bridge and Photoshop. I have operating with CS4. Photoshop produces and error " Could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file"

Assuming you mean 5D Mark III, Photoshop CS4 cannot directly open raw files from your camera.
Generally speaking, Adobe stopped updating older versions to be able to read raw files from newer cameras when they released a new major version of Photoshop. Photoshop CS4 is no longer receiving Camera Raw updates.
You can double check this yourself:
First you need to determine whether Adobe has released support for your new camera in your version of Photoshop. To do that, look at these two pages. You'll want to find out the earliest version of Camera Raw that can support your camera, then what version of Photoshop can run that version of Camera Raw.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
If you find your camera is supported by your version of Photoshop, you need to download the latest update for Camera Raw. There's more information on how to do that here:
    Keeping Photoshop Up-To-Date
If your version of Photoshop cannot support your camera, you can download and install the latest version of the free Adobe DNG Converter, which can take your raw files as input and put out DNG format files, which your version of Photoshop can open.
Photoshop Help | Digital Negative (DNG)
The DNG converter DOES work, but if you want maximal quality from your raw files (not to mention the convenience and ease of use of directly opening your raw files) you'll want the latest version of Photoshop. Adobe has made substantial improvements in raw conversion quality in recent years.

I updated my ipad1 thru iTunes from 4.2.1 to 4.3.5 and now having issues, especially playing videos. Anything I should know. I have not jail broken my iPad and don't want to.

you update it by connecting it to a computer running itunes and starting itunes up on the computer clicking on it in devices and clicking on the update button in the content menu
if it say you have the latests then it's because you don't own an iphone 3gs but an iphone 3g where the version 4.2.1 was the last released
in that case you can't ever update it

  • Qosmio F30-117 - Display issues - red and green lines

    Hi there,
I have a qosmio F30-117 and up to recently, I was delighted with everything about it.
Then, mid session, the graphics began to deteriorate, which a reboot fixed.
Then a few days later, it did it again and this time when I rebooted it came up with a corrupted display, lots of aa's all over the place then lines of red and green all over.
Managed to get in by selecting safe mode with networking and got a desktop although still with the red and green lines all over it.
Now its gotten worse still, when I boot up the laptop screen itself is blank, its getting something because it isnt totally black like it is when its powered off, but its blank.
As a check I connected an external monitor and managed to get in again to safe mode with networking, but its still very bad, and still has the red and green lines all over.
I started to have a look around on the good old www and there are numerous posters and articles with problems, and lots mentioning the red and green lines etc...
so Im not alone, but no-one seems to know exactly what it is.
Some have mentioned Toshiba acknowledging this as a problem and doing repairs even if out of warranty.
So, any ideas, any advice, and does anyone know if Tosh have indeed accepted the problem and offering any help??
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
I think it's a common problem in the Qosmio F30 models. After long term use, the soldering balls under the GPU chipset start to melt down because of the over heat and the bad soldering quality that was used with the F30 model that cannot resist high temperature. Now you have to replace the motherboard, since the GPU is build within the motherboard.
However, there is another two solution for this problem and cost less money amount:
1- do what is called a "heat reflow" for the VGA chipset: to do this you have to take the motherboard out and heat the VGA chipset on the motherboard with a heat gun or you can bake it in the oven for a few minutes at low temp, this will make the soldering balls melt and go back to there right position. However, you need to keep in mind that this solution is temporary and will last maybe for month then you have to do it again and again till you ruin the GPU and then the only solution will be to buy another motherboard. So I don't recommend that you do that at all, but if you don't want to spend a lot of money on a new motherboard this will help you to recover your data, even though there is more easier solution to do the recovery.
Anyways, you can go to youtube and search the term "VGA heat reflow " to see how people do it.
2- send your motherboard to a repairing service that can do what is called reballing: what they do is that they will replace the soldering balls under the VGA chipset with new ones that can resist high temp. and this solution is permanent and even in the future you don't have to worry that the same problem will happen again since the new soldering balls can take high temp change. I do recommend this solution even more than buying a motherboard, since the motherboard that you will get will generate the same problem after few years.
you can find this type of repair service online if you googled the term "VGA reball repair" or you can find it on ebay
If you decided to replace the motherboard I think you will not be able to find a new one, and in case you found one it will be more expensive than a new laptop, but still you can find used motherboard for your qosmio on ebay or online. so you need to do a search and find out what fits your budget or maybe it's better to buy a new laptop.
Sorry about your qosmio, and hope that my post will help you!

No. Wiping the HD will erase the OS on it.

Two weeks ago Purchasing 60 songs from iTune store. So Two of them play only half of song and then jumping to another songs. What is could be?Looks like is not been downloaded full. Can i get this two songs to play correct? Many thanks Aleksejs!!!

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

Just purchased Beatles' Tomorrow Never Knows.  But a few of the cuts did not download properly and can't be played or synced with ipod.  Any help?

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the current copies from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

  • I just recently got a new laptop and transfered everything over and it seemed to be ok but now having issues playing videos and can't edit any of my song info in music files

I just got a new laptop so I had to transfer everything over and I thought everything would be ok but I'm having some strange issues especially with my purchased tv shows, movies, and music videos. They just wont play. Sometimes I'll get lucky and a tv show will play but if I stop it and try again it wont. If I open in Quicktime it works fine. The computer is authorized so that shouldnt be it especially if it plays in QT and like I said sometimes I'll get lucky and one will play. Now the other thing I just noticed is all my music files play fine but when opening and looking at the info of the music file I can't edit anything for example song title or artist the area seems shaded and won't let me do any editing. So I'm having those 2 issues. Video files not playing ones that I have purchased. movies, tv shows and music videos. Also like I said if I just sit there and click one after another I may get lucky and one will play but if I stop it and try again it will not play again. And I can't seem to edit any music file which play fine. I have a new Dell with windows 7 and I have never had this happen any help would be great. The computer is authorized for i tunes so it cant be that.

Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and system full control to this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.

  • Just installed US Leopard on Arabian bought Mac and now having issues....

I purchased a Macbook Air while in Dubai last year. The keys are basically the same, but there is a very slight difference to the configuration and there are Arabic symbols next to the alphabet. I recently wiped the hard drive. When reinstalling Leopard, I decided to use a US bought version instead of the original install discs(One disk Vs. Two, I'm lazy). Now, the function keys don't work properly (they only function as F1-F12 and cannot be used to change brightness, volume, etc.) And it doesn't see the touchpad, it says it is a two button mouse, any ideas?

You need to reinstall using the discs that shipped with the MacBook Air. The retail Leopard disc may not work with the MacBook Air because it may lack the required hardware drivers.

  • RESTORED WINDOWS ,NOW HAVING ISSUES

HELLO folks, i had to reinstall windows on my comp, i thought I had backed up my itunes, at any rate i reinstalled i tunes, and when i connected my ipod it recognizes it but i can't add any songs to the ipod and how do i import my songs on ipod to itunes ?, please help, my currwent library on my ipod dos not show up in itunes ?

how do i import my songs on ipod to itunes ?
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
    SharePod is also freeware.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
my currwent library on my ipod dos not show up in itunes ?
If you click on the small triangle to the left of your iPod, do you see the "music" list?

  • Replaced iMac Hard Drive, now having trouble getting TM back working

The drive on my iMac failed and was replaced. I used Migration Assistant to get data from my Time Machine backups (on 1TB Time Capsule) to the new drive--no problems! (Time Capsule is connected to my iMac by Ethernet as the wireless part of TC doesn't work anymore.) Now I'm trying to get Time Machine back working with this new drive and would like to continue from the backups I have. However, for several hours all it has done is cycle through Calculating Changes to Cleaning Up multiple times. When I look at the TM prefs, it knows the oldest backup was on Feb 28 before the drive starting failing, so I know it's seeing the backups on the TC. I believe I read that because of the new drive the first backup would be a full backup. However, for several hours all it has done is cycle through Calculating Changes to Cleaning Up multiple times.
I've been reading through some of the discussions and the tips at top of page, but am still not sure what to do. Is there something I can do to get this working from where I left off, or am I just going to have to reformat the TC and start over?
    Thanks for any help/suggestions.

On a Time Capsule, deleting a lot of old backups is an excruciatingly slow process.
TM must delete the oldest backup, dismount the sparse bundle, compact the sparse bundle, then mount it again to see if it's made enough room. This can go on (as you see) for a very long time, even via Ethernet.
Since Time Machine will never delete the last remaining backup, it needs twice the space of the data it's backing-up, plus 20% temporarily for workspace. So if your TC isn't 220% the size of the data on your system, the backup will (eventually) fail, and you'll have no choice but to delete the sparse bundle.
On the other hand, if it's considerably larger than that, you can speed the process up a bit by manually deleting several old backups at a time, then compacting the sparse bundle yourself, per #12 in the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum.
Click here to download the +Time Machine Buddy+ widget. It shows the messages from your logs for one TM backup run at a time, in a small window. That will show how much space it needs, and how much is currently available, so you can determine how to proceed.

  • Macbook 2010 mid , having issue when in sleep mode under windows8

    Hi, guys
It might be a bit early for this kind of question as windows 8 is not official released.
I installed the MSDN version of windows8 (RTM), and it works fine and i got bootcamp installed without any problems.
The only problem I have with it is when I set my macbook in sleep mode, it turns to sleep, but after certain hours, it automatically shut itself down. No matter it turns to sleep by doing it manually or close the lid, this is under power mode, one thing I find funny is if the macbook is on battery mode, it works fine, I turn it to sleep mode in the night and in the morning, it is still in sleep mode, but if I plug in the power, it stops working, it always shut itself down after 4 or 5 hours. I checked all the settings and did not find any setting that are related.
Any ideas?? maybe the bootcamp is not supportted well in windows 8???
    Please advise. thanks guys.

Just to give an update on what actually happened, the logic board was knackered and needed to be replaced (with labour, this should have cost £410)... On a Macbook Pro which was almost exactly a year and a half old. I believe this is actually a lot more common than it probably should be (from doing a seach to find other people in similar situations, as well as court cases). Though, thankfully if you buy the product through Apple, they're happy to sort it out with no cost to yourself and no issues (providing the laptop is in good condition and less than 6 years old). Mine was actually from Tesco, and luckily enough there wasn't too much difficulty in getting a partial refund to cover the cost of repairs, though I believe this isn't the case with some other retailers, though Apple themselves are trying to change this and be as helpful as possible.
So, basically, I'm leaving this information here incase anyone should happen to find this by doing a search of similar symptoms to those I had. If you find out your logic board has gone and your 1 year warranty is no longer valid, pursue the retailler who you originally bought the product from. By law in the UK (under the UK Sales of Goods Act.) they have to help you out as your electrical goods should last 'a reasonable amount of time', which is anything up to 6 years. Hopefully there are similar laws and consumer rights in place in other countries too. Again, Apple are very much aware of the situation with the logic boards so will more than likely help you out as much as they can.
