Purchased iPhoto 9.3.2 can't open, can't rebuild

Hello dear all
The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete.
I click on upgrade. Then it says Examining photo library for a while.
You have opened this photo library with a newer version of iPhoto.
iPhoto is unable to open this library.Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto.
I have read through several discussions. I tried to open iPhoto pressing down option+command key. I chose Repair Library but I get the same message again:
The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete.
I purchased the ne iPhoto from the App store a few days ago. I have installed it and the weird thing is, that I could aupgrade it at first, I have already used it quickly, but then it seemed to crash somehow and I couldnt open it since. I have made a backup from my library, but it seems like recently added items are already los. What can I do? I don't wanna lose my events, books, calendars, etc!!
Thanks for helping
Katrin

You could try the following:
Start over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
1. Open the library package like this.
2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
3. Drag the subfolders inside the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window.  Do not make any changes to the contents of the library from the Finder except for importing the subfolders into the new library.
Click to view full size
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
Note:  your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
So if you have the original files in the damaged library even though iPhoto can't access them you'll be able to create a new library with them.

    My iphoto crash few days ago and since few days my imac is try to rebuild the databese....now is 4 days and i'm warryes abouth all my pictures.
    what should i do?

    Try resetting the iPhone,
    Reset your iPhone by pressing the 'Sleep' and 'Home' button at the same time for about 15 seconds or so. Your iPhone will then go through a reset / reboot procedure and will be ready for use within about a minute.
    Don't worry about doing this as you will not lose data or settings.
    Good luck and do report back.

  • HT4539 i have downloaded free books but can not open. can anyone help

    Hi, as above, I have downloaded free books, but am unable to open to ready,
    Can anyone help.
    Please go through steps in idiot fasion for me.
    Thanks

    If you mean iBooks, most can only be viewed on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch) in the iBooks app. Only the public domain Project Gutenberg books can be read on a computer, and for that you will need an application that can open ePub files.
    If that's not what you meant, please explain further where you are getting these books and how you are attempting to view them.

  • Can't open project after rebuilding Folders in Project Manager

    I had a corrupted project so I renamed the cpd file.  A lot of Folders in Project Manager were lost, so I recreated the folders and imported all the topics back in.  I added one last Folder back in and RH was having a problem with it (I didn't write down the error message).  It booted me out.  Subsequent attempts to reopen this Project are unfruitful.  The message I get is that a certain folder (not the same one I was adding) will be added back in and needs to be properly deleted from Project Manager.  (I had renamed that Folder, but I did it inside of Project Manager.)
    Thoughts?
    Thanks.

  • Can't open canon raw files in cs4

    I recently had to rebuild my pc after a problem that stopped a few of my programs working (I'd installed xampp so I could use wordpress on the pc but it stopped cs4, firefox, video studio and a bunch of other stuff working - removal and reinstalling did no use, I had to build a new disc).
    I reinstalled cs4 and got all the updates but now I find I can't open can raw files with cs4 or bridge. I tried replacing the Camera Raw.8bi file with the latest file from adobe as per their web instructions but it still doesn't work. So I tried the adobe dng convertor (version 8.3) and ran the files through that, still no luck, I can't open the files.
    I could open them wwith canons own software and save as a tiff, but then I'm losing a lot of information.
    I'm still running vista home premium - no I can't upgrade to windows 8.1 and use the latest photoshop and lightroom software because 8.1 doesn't work with my nikon scanner or my epson large format printer. It doesn't like a few other items I have either.
    I remember I had to download a few files a couple of years ago when I first bought the pc (a whole 3 years ago) as I was having trouble with photoshop and raw files then but I can't remember the name of the file or where I got it from.
    Anyone able to help? much appreciated if you can.

    Hi John,
    Adobe told me to replace the relevant file, which I did. The trouble is that went I do this then 'camera raw' disappears from the 'help / plugins' list and there doesn't seem to be any way of getting back other than uninstalling and reinstalling cs4, and once I do this it overwrites the files again...
    I can't remember having this trouble when I first installed it a couple of years ago but I do seem to remember having to replace a file somewhere but that may have been on an earlier version.
    I have an old EOS 5d mk1 & a 7d mk1, so it's not as though the camera is unknown to cs4.

  • Can't open pdf files on IOS 7

    Since the upgrade to IOS 7, I can't open PDF FILES.   They download all right, but I only see like a pic.   I can't open, can't save to pdf, can't see it.  Can't nothing.   Any help?

    I have just downloaded Adobe reader on to ipad 2. I tried opening a Pdf in ibooks and then Adobe reader. I can only get the introductory pages. I can open the full dcument using adobe reader on my Mac?
    It is one of those rare occasions where Apple comes off badly against microsoft. Opening a pdf attachment using windows is a doddle. Opening a pdf document on my mac seems to require me to save the document first - clunky to say the least, opening a pdf on ipad - impossible! All in all pretty rubbish. Can't believe they don't have something like this nailed.

  • Sql connection can not open why?

    I use the following source code to connect sql database, but the connection can not open, can somebody help me? thanks.
    SqlCeConnection con = new SqlCeConnection("Data Source="
                    + System.IO.Path.Combine(System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(System.Reflection.Assembly.GetEntryAssembly().Location), "Sampledatabase.mdf"));
                con.Open();
    OR
    SqlCeConnection con = new SqlCeConnection(@"Data Source=|DataDirectory|\Sampledatabase.mdf");
    con.Open();

    Hi Sunny,
    Based on your code, your case related to how to connect to an MDF database file?
    The keypoint is how to write the connectionstring.
    Here is a sample,
    con.ConnectionString = @"Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;
    AttachDbFilename=c:\folder\SampleDatabase.mdf;
    Integrated Security=True;
    Connect Timeout=30;
    User Instance=True";
    From your second code with DataDirectory
    Note the filepath should have |DataDirectory| which actually links to "current project directory\App_Data\" or "current project directory" and get the .mdf file.

  • Photoshop 8 is frozen, won't open can't close with OX Yosemite ?

    Uploaded Yosemite last week and today the program is frozen- can't open, can't close

    Installing major Mac updates over the top of your existing version of the OS is pretty notorious for damaging permissions. Generally, all you have to do in the case of no longer working Adobe applications is to simply reset the preferences. See this document for further help with that: Preference file locations | Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements
    If that doesn't work, then most likely application files in Elements were damaged. Uninstalling and reinstalling should fix it.

  • HT1338 Why am I getting a message "You can't open the application iPhoto because it may be damaged or incomplete" - v11, purchased and installed before Lion upgrade

    I get the message "You can't open the application iPhoto because it may be damaged or incomplete." This is a currently support iPhoto'11. Purchased and installed prior to OS X Lion upgrade. Was working, and now it is not. What might have happened? I saw  that Apple updated iPhoto in the App Store, but that is not where I purchased this. I tried Software Update, but it said all the software was up to date.
    Suggestions?

    Do you have iLife '11 Discs or did you download it from the App Store?

    1 - the iPhoto application is an application and does not hole your photos - your photos are in the iPhoto library an dour normal daily backup will back them up so your photos are safe
    2 - what exactly does the error message say? You probably need to reinstall the iPhoto application form the original source
    3 - note that no version of iPhoto comes with any OS - iPhoto comes with all new Macs but not with any OS and most OS versions can run many different versions of iPhoto

    I purchased a new imac (4G, OS X 10.6.8) in Feb 2011 and thought my old iPhoto library transferred over. It wasn't. And I can't get iPhoto to open on my old mac. It says, "can't open your current version of iPhoto using this version of iPhoto. You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto". I don't think my old mac will support the newer version of iPhoto so I feel like I'm stuck (this is why I got a new mac -- cheaper than upgrading all my software, etc). Help! I really need to get to my old photos, and no, they are not backed up anywhere. Thanks.

    You have two options:
    Run the Library on a machine that has the same version as the machine that was stolen.
    or
    Recover the files from this library and start over from scratch.
    To recover the files:
    Go to your Pictures Folder (or whereever you have the back up) and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
    Your originals are in the Masters folder.
    Note this will only recover your photos as imported from you camera.

    If you have no photos:

  • Can't open current photo library using this version of iPhoto 7.1.5

    I have recently had to perform a disk repair due to the disk image not mounting. In this process I completed a full backup of my home folder and verify/repair/format of my harddrive. At this time I also added 4G RAM bringing the MacBook up to 5G RAM.
    Since the reinstallation of 10.7.5 (Which took about 18hrs) I have none of the iLife package. I have reinstalled from the original disk that I recieved on initial purchase back in 2008. After installation I ran the software update and have updated everything (iTunes, iPhoto etc) I have been able to import all data from my backup via a simple drag & drop. I am now unable to open my iPhoto library (file size 105.43G). I have searched many forums and have been unable to find a solution that is suitable (rebuild library) because as soon as I launch this option it brings up the following message:
    You can’t open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto. You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto.
    After this I must quit the application. What am I missing? I'm sure it is something quite simple... I'm hoping it is as easy as it was to find the recoveryHD during the reformat of the disk.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated, Cheers.

    It sounds like a damaged library. Try the 2 fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
    Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the last three options.
    Fix #2
    Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
    Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
    1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
    2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
    3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
    4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    5 - Click on the Create button.
    Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be untouched for further attempts at fixing or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

    Lion 10.7.5 is as far as you can go. You must have at least 2 GBs of installed RAM.
    Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion
    You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
    If you sign into the App Store and try to purchase Mountain Lion but the App Store says your computer is not compatible then you may still be able to upgrade to Lion per the following information.
    Upgrading to Lion
    If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
    You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. Or you can order directly on the online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
