Purchased item not playing on Ipod

I hope someone can help me out here, none of my 171 files that I have purchased from the Itunes store are playing on my Ipod, they just skip past. I have tried restoring, deauthorizing and authorizing again, I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Itunes, along with rebuilding the library. Any help would be welcome I have spent alot of money on my purchases and they have just stopped playing.

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Try the steps listed here...
iPod does not play content purchased from the iTunes Store
If the problem persists...
Part 1:
1. Navigate to \iPod_Control\iTunes on the iPod in Windows Explorer. You may have to turn on Show Hidden Files and folders. To do this, go to Tools-->Folder Options, click the view tab, click the bubble to show hidden files and folders, click Apply, and click OK. Look for the presence there of a file named iEKInfo. Is it there? If so, make a copy of this onto your computer somewhere. While there, make a copy of iTunesDB also. Don't delete these copies.
2. Create a new, administrator user in Windows . (Start-->control panel-->user accounts-->create a new account)
3. Log out of the current user.
4. Log into the new user.
5. Restore the iPod as documented in this article:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983.
6. Open iTunes.
7. Set the Music sync preference in iTunes for the iPod to Manual mode.
8. Download the free single of the week from the iTunes Music Store.
9. Verify that the song plays in iTunes.
10. Drag only this song to the iPod.
11. Eject the iPod from iTunes.
12. Disconnect the iPod from the computer.
Does the song play?
If the iPod is able to play this song, follow these steps:
Part 2:
1. Log out of the new user.
2. Log back into the original (affected) user.
3. Reconnect the iPod to the computer.
4. Drag some of the older purchased content (that would not play before) to the iPod.
5. Eject the iPod from iTunes.
6. Disconnect the iPod from the computer.
Does the affected content play?
Is the iPod still having the same issue? Try these possible solutions:
Part 3:
* Delete the SC Info.sidb file as documented in http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302386.
* If the issue persists, recreate the iTunes Music Library as described in http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93313.
Does the music play?
Please post back if this works or not.

  • Purchased Music Not Playing on iPod but on iTunes

Before I start, I have had this problem before (6 months ago) and it resolved itself through some unknown fix (with the help of a Apple Genius Bar who had no idea what worked). The purchased songs - mine and others who use my computer - play fine in iTunes, and play from the iPod on a PowerBook, and plays purchased music loaded from a PowerBook - but will NOT play purchased songs when sync'd to my Windows laptop (I know. . .). I have restored, deauthorized, reauthorized, restored on PowerBook and then again on Window laptop. . . Still NO music. As it does for everyone else, it plays burned music. . . I am stumped. I am open to anything short of incantations. It does seem to have started soon after iTunes 7 was loaded. . .

I gave up with the glitch and got another iPod. . .

  • Purchased music not playing in ipod?!

I'm having a couple of problems with iTunes in general, but for now I will try to deal with the purchased music problem I'm having.
I've bought roughly 33 songs from the music store and after a computer "revamping", none of them are showing up in iTunes [along with all of my other songs, but that's another problem addressed here http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=271018 ]. I bought another song since the "re-vamping" and it's the only song listed in my "purchased" folder under the "music store". I checked my "purchase history" and all of the roughly 33 songs are listed there! Now, I wouldn't normally worry about that- I moved the songs back into iTunes [into my library] and I can hear them perfectly BUT when I try to play them on my ipod they won't play. Now THAT is bothering me
I've looked around and after going through other threads and ipod support, I have no idea what to do. ANY help or insight would be helpful!!

You don't say whether or not your purchases are authorized. Purchases must be authorized in iTunes by playing one of them for a few seconds on the computer, before they will work on the iPod.

  • Purchased items not playing.

Hello, I have two ipods a fifth generation 60gb video ipod and a second generation 4gb ipod nano. the songs I purchased when I only had the video ipod play fine on that one. However the purchased songs show up on the 4gb, which I recieved after the purchases, but won't play instead just skip to the next song! Is there anything I can do?

    Hi Kannek!

  • Purchased songs from Itunes STILL not playing on ipod mini

I read all the posts about this issue, of purchased Itunes songs not playing on ipod. I deauthorized the computer and all computers associated with the account. then re authorized them. I reset the ipod several times, and also restored the ipod. I reinstalled the itunes software. I changed the sync to manual. removed one of the purchased songs. reauthorized the computer, then manually added the song back. I renamed the song. I even tried with downloading the free song. Any other suggestions. It made me look bad when after all of this I still could not fix the users issue. Other than declaring it a HARDWARE issue, I thought there could be a registry setting with the authorizing that did not happen properly. Has anyone else experienced this issue , and NOT been able to fix it. It would really appreciate any advice. My only conclusion was hardware, and the user states they had already spoke with apple who declined to help.

It may be an authorization issue. Both iTunes and the iPod need to be up-to-date.
Usually, you need to play at least a part of songs purchased from the iTMS within iTunes to authorize them. They won't copy to your iPod until you do this.

    iTMS Song and Computer Authorization
If you've played & authorized them in iTunes and they still skip, try this. De-authorize the computer in iTunes/Advanced menu, then re-authorize it. You re-authorize it by playing one of the songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store within iTunes. It should ask you for your Apple ID and password, and then the computer will be authorized again. Sync your iPod with iTunes, and those songs should play on the iPod once again.
Another common cause of this is not having the latest version of iTunes.
If you are using the latest version of iTunes (6.0.4), then you need to make sure your iPod software is up to date also. Get the iPod Updater software, install it, run it and update your iPod.
When you have done this, authorize your music in iTunes by playing a few seconds of it within iTunes, re-sync your iPod, and it should transfer by whatever synching method you choose.
If the above 'standard' fixes did not help, then it's a bigger problem that I can diagnose...

  • HT4623 when I try to update it says I have purchased items not backed up on itunes but I believe they're all there.  any suggestions how to find these items or just upgrade anyways?

I have tried to update my ipad 2 several times.  I have connected it to my computer in itunes had it download or backup my info.  But when I go to update it states you have purchased items not backed up are you sure you want to update now?  So I go back and check it for all my apps and they are all there on the computer in itunes.  I still have the original iso 4.3.3  please help as all the apps are requiring newer iso versions.

    Hi Oceanbreeze,
If you are receiving an alert about purchased items that have not been transferred from your iPad, you may want to try initiating the transfer from iTunes to see if that may correct it. You may find the following article helpful:

    Lori,
If you upgrade to iTunes 10.3, you can redownload your past purchases from the iCloud.  Just go to the home page of the iTunes Store and click on "Purchased" under "Quick Links."  It will bring up a list of your past purchases that are not currently in your library, with a little arrow icon that lets you download.

Even though you think that all of your apps and purchased content is in iTunes, transfer your purchases using these instructions and then try and update again.

The other three I purchased is playing fine both visual and audio but only one will not play at all. When I click on it, the screen just goes black and after several seconds, returns me to the menu listing the name of the video. It plays on my daughter's ipod just fine and we both have the same IPod. I've tried to re-sync and reset but nothing seems to work. Can someone please help me. Thx!

  • Purchased videos and music not playing on ipod

i purchased some music and videos, while using my wifes powerbook g4, loaded them onto my ipod (which i had setup using my pc) now i see the music and videos and when i try playing them the music shows up then goes to the next song. the videos just go to a black screen.
now i have loaded my cd's onto my wifes powerbook and have been able to play them on my ipod no problem. just the purchased music/videos from itunes, is not playing
    what did i do wrong.

Did you update the firmware on the iPod? Supposibly if fixes a few bugs.
    http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
If you didn't then try that. Believe me your problem is not with not using that CD as I never even popped the disk in my CD drive untill after I had updated my iPod as the software was outdated before it arrived at my house.

  • Purchased music will not play on iPod after iTunes 6.0.1 (3)

After upgrading to iTunes 6.0.1 (3) and then syncing my iPod Photo I can no longer play songs purchased in iTunes on my iPod (cds copied to iTunes play fine). The music (and album art) for the iTunes purchased shows up on the iPod, but the iPod just quickly cycles through any purchased music without playing it - this applies to all purchased music (recently purchased and stuff purchased 9 months ago when I got my iPod). The music plays fine using iTunes on my laptop. I have the latest firmware update on the iPod Photo (1.2).
    Any thoughts/help are appreciated.

seems like Apple wants us to illegaly obtain the songs from now on. You know the story about starving musician, poor janitor at studio, well it is not important now.
I am done with being cool, now i want something that will actually work. lets see how long will it take for iTunes update to come accros, and will anyone in Apple say we are sorry guys, we screwed up. hmmm, maybe refund for all the songs you purchased would be fair, you know guys we sold you and told you it will work on your coputer, but look surprise they dont. no, not even crappy explanation, just new update.

  • Itunes purchased music will not play on Ipod

I have had an Ipod since second generation around 2004. It lasted me until about two weeks ago and i recently bought a new fifth generation. When 7.0 came out my older ipod would not play my purchased music and suddenly started to give me errors(unhappy ipod, and folder). I took it into the genius bar and i was told that the hard drive had died. I think that is a load of hogwash. I was able to "revive" it to only have it die again. The new Ipod has the same problem with the purchased music. I have tried the 5 R's, I have reloaded my library, everything. I thought that possibly if the files were on a shared network it messed it up, but i have unshared everything. Nothing seems to work but reloading the purchased music from a cd that has been burned. I dont want to take the time to do that for over 350 songs. Are there any suggestions from a real Apple tech? And will this be SOLVED?
