Purchased mountain lion and cannot download it

The App Store shows that they've deducted the $19.99 + taxes, but I click download and nothing happens.
I know it is a hefty download, 4+Gb, but I don't see anything going on.  Shouldn't I see that there is a download in the background somewhere ?
I am not familiar with MAC OS.
Thanks,

You should see a download status bar.
If it applies, temporarily disable anti virus software.
Apps such as Net Nanny, Little Snitch, and Hands Off can prevent apps from downloading including Mountain Lion. Same goes for third party download managers.
It's about a 4.35GB file. Make sure there's enough free space on the startup disk.
Click the Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info then select Storage from the menu.
Make sure there's at least 15% available disk space.
Keep in mind, for downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is strongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
And check with your ISP. Some internet service providers limit the transfer of data over a time period.

Why, when MobileMe was shuttered, does Apple NOT support calendar subscriptions for iCal (Calendar)?
I upgraded to Mountain Lion and cannot migrate my Dutch, U.K., Islamic, or Catholic holiday subscriptions.  I had a heck of a time getting my Detroit Tigers Baseball team schedules migrated (but Major League Baseball supported the subscriptions, so it occurred).  As I work internationally, having these calendar subscriptions on the new Calendar would be very useful.
If one goes to the Apple site, and seeks calendars [http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/calendars/index1.html], they are shunted to MobileMe [https://www.icloud.com/mobileme/not_found/], with the note "MobileMe is closed. Go to iCloud."  But, I do not see how to get subscriptions from iCloud.
    Thanks.

The problem is that many of these calendars were hosted on MobileMe. I actually tried about 20 at random, and only two worked! Not all of the failures were ex-MobileMe, some were on other servers but produced 'File Not Found'.
Strangely, this one worked despite its URL:
    http://ical.mac.com/ical/UK32Holidays.ics
Until the people who publish these calendars (it's not Apple, they are third-party) wake up and find alternative servers these calendars are not available.
There may be other sources which work - try Googling.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Open App Store > Purchases, pause and resume OS X. If it doesn't help, press Shift key in boot and download Mountain Lion

  • Can I purchase Mountain Lion and make a flash drive bootable? I do not want to install it on my Macbook Pro. I have Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro now, and due to my hard drive needing repair I need to boot off of another source, like my flash drive.

Can I purchase Mountain Lion and make a flash drive bootable? I do not want to install it on my Macbook Pro. I have Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro now, and due to my hard drive needing repair, I need to boot off of another source, like my flash drive. I am in Paris and my Snow Leopard DVD is in Texas.

Mac OS X has a built-in disk diagnostic and repair program called fsck or file system consistency check. Here’s how to verify and repair your startup disk with fsck.  As soon as you hear the startup tone, press and hold Command-S on the keyboard. Keep holding down those keys until you see a black screen with white lettering. This is called “booting into Single User Mode.”  As the Mac boots in this mode, the screen reports each step of the process. The line should end in root#.  Right after the root# prompt, enter the following: /sbin/fsck -fy
If repairing the disk in single user mode fails, it means one of two things. Either your hard drive itself is failing (a hardware failure), or the directory damage on your hard drive is beyond the capability of the built-in repair procedures in OS X.

  • Recently purchased Mountain Lion and now 40% of my Big Fish games don't work, any ideas?

Recently purchased Mountain Lion and now several of my Big Fish games don't work, any ideas?
Mystery Case Files Return to Ravenhurst and MCF 13th Skull to name a couple
I have contacted Big Fish games and tried all the suggestion still to no avail.....

If you "recently purchased Mavericks" without upgraded your hardware (MBP), then your MBP is still capable of running whichever flavor of OS X that you previously were able to run these 40% of Big Fish games.
In that case, partition your hard drive or add an external drive and install that flavor of OS X (Snow Leopard or Lion) there and "dual-boot" your MBP into the alternative OS X when you want to play those games using Startup Manager in the System Preferences before Restart.

  • Purchased Mountain Lion and the initial download had an error and now it's stuck doing nothing

I was on 10.6.8 and purchased Mountain Lion. It started downloading and when I came back to check on it, the icon was gone from the dock. Looked under purchases in the App Store and it said "An error has occured". It would not let me download again there. Went to the main page in the App Store again and clicked to purchase/install. Got the you already purchased this message and I could click the download button here. Got the Mountain Lion icon to drop into my dock again but it has "Waiting" when I roll over it. I have restarted my computer and am only able to do the same actions I described above. Please help.

  • HT4463 I purchased Mountain Lion and it's not in my purchased apps.?

Purchased Mountain Lion but it's not in my purchased Apps.

I've been searching this forum for an hour and can't find the answer to my problem.  I purchased the upgrade to Mountain Lion a few months ago.  I'm trying to download it to another MBP I own and it does not show up in the "purchased" list.   I have tried to find the "hidden" apps discussed above, but my account does not show a "hidden apps" option.  So, I can't unhide it.  It was there a few weeks ago, but today it only shows two apps I have recently downloaded.
The local Apple retail store restored my copy of Mountain Lion after a system crash.  Did that remove my purchased copy of Mountain from the Apps Store Purchased list?
How do I get a download to another MBP without paying another $20 for a new update??
Surely someone else has had this problem.
    Thanks

  • I have just upgraded my i mac to mountain Lion and cannot access my emails as they were on entourage and my documents were on word documents and I can't access them either. Help!

I have just up graded my i mac to Mountain Lion and now cannot open my e mails in entourage or my word documents. What do I do to get them back?

It looks like you have Office 2004, which doesn't run on Mountain Lion. Upgrade to Office 2008 or 2011.

  • I've upgraded to mountain lion and cannot receive email

    Can anyone help?
I've upgraded to mountain lion and now cannot receive email in any account although I can send emails
    Thanks

I have exactly the same problem but with a worringly more complex situation. I too can see TC in finder. I can see the backup disk for my iMac in TM. I can also see the backup disk for my MBP in TM (this sits on a HD that is daisy chained to my 1TB TC).
Here's the worring bit. My MBP was upgraded to Moutain Lion but my iMac is still on Lion. Both have the same issue in that all disks can be seen as normal but not connect to make backups.
I receive the notificaiton that includes: "cannot connect...xxxtimecapsule.local. Verify server name or IP address. "
I have made a backup since the Mountain Lion upgrade with no issues then suddenly it cannot connect to repsective backup disks on either machine. I was attempting a restore of my MBP from my backup so I could have a cleaner disk to create a new partition for windows. When I choose the backup disk to restore from (in recovery mode) was when it failed to connect and its been downhill from there.
Router works fine and I am still connected to my dsl modem,
I have reset TC and all machines. I am now at a complete loss!

  • Just purchased Mountain Lion and now realized it wont work on my 2008 iMac, tried to start a chat but Apple support chat says my serial

I also tried to see if I could buy memory but find thatI cant even do that with this relic?

    Those models will support:
    Maximum Memory
6.0 GB (Actual) 4.0 GB (Apple)
    Memory Slots
    2 - 200-pin PC2-6400 (800MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM
They should be upgradeable to Mavericks as well as Mountain Lion.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • I purchased mountain lion and was invoiced for it, but I'm not sure it installed. Please help?!

    see subject title ^

Click the Apple symbol in the upper left of your computer and then click About this Computer that will say what version of OS X is installed. If you are running Mountain Lion it will say so. If you are not then open Launchpad locate the Mountain Lion download and double click it, this will begin the install process. From there simply follow the on-screen directions.

Why suggest "ignore iWork"? I use iWork exclusively now, since dumping MS Office and I like it.
On its own it's fine, as a replacement for Office it's mediocre. Unable to save in Office format you are pushed into exporting (extra steps) simply to create an Office compatible file. Pages barely renders a Word document correctly (a trait also shared by Libre/Open Office). Numbers is a very poor substitute for Excel (the free ones are better).
And for all this you are expected to pay, whereas the other alternatives do a better job (with MS Office files) without a financial insult.
If Office is not in the equation I recommend iWork.

  • Purchased mountain lion and receive 403 forbidden error when downloading to snow leopard 10.6.8

    can you help me?
Thank you so much for suggestions

That's an error message from the server, and it has nothing to do with the permissions of your files. There are several possible causes.
Sometimes the error is due to a problem in Apple's network. You just have to wait it out.
You may have exceeded a download cap imposed by your ISP. Log in to your ISP account to check.
If you're connecting through a proxy server, disable it in the Network preference pane and try again.
"Anti-virus" software can interfere with the App Store. To disable it, boot in safe mode. Wi-Fi won't work in safe mode on some iMac models. If yours is one of them, and you can only connect via Wi-Fi, uninstall the "anti-virus" product according to the developer's instructions, then reboot. You're better off without it anyway.
If you're using a public DNS service such as OpenDNS, use the DNS servers provided by your ISP instead. That's also a change you make in the Network preference pane.

  • At a Genius Bar appointment yesterday, we determined that I needed to go to Mountain Lion from Lion.  I purchased Mountain Lion at the Bar, and paused the install so that I could resume from home.  Now I can't find it to resume. Not in Downloads. ?????

When I upgraded to Lion, my Parallels stopped working and I got a Bootcamp error message.  It had worked fine for the prior year.  I upgraded to Parallels 7.  No luck. At the Genius Bar, the Genius uninstalled Bootcamp.  No luck.  I still get "The Boot Camp partition /dev/diskOs4 used by Hard Drive 1 is missing."
Another Genius suggested upgrading to Mountain Lion.  While at the Bar, I purchased Mountain Lion and then we paused the install so that I could resume it at home.  Once I got home, I can't find the Mountain Lion installer to resume.  It's not in the Downloads file.  Any clue?
My business programs all run on Windows, so I have to get it operating.  The Genius Bar isn't much help.  Does anyone know how to get Mountain Lion installed?  How to get Parallels working?

The "Geniuses" (and I use that word in sarcasm) at the Bar are lying to you. Upgrading from Lion to Mt Lion will not fix whatever problems you are having. In fact it will most likely make them worse.
If you want to try installing Mt Lion to fix the problems you are having you will need to open the Mac App Store link in your Dock, Login to your Apple ID account for the MAS and go to your Purchases area. Mt Lion should be in there and you will be able to do a proper download. Once you either set your Mac into sleep or shut down and then left the internet connection at the Bar all record of that download was lost. So you will need to restart it again from the beginning, like described above.
    Good Luck
