Purchased movie playing error

When playing a movie I purchased. The movie starts to play but the text and icons etc are still on the screen and the movie plays behind them.
Anyone else have this error? A fix?
Thanks.

  • Newly purchased movie asks for authorization

I just purchased a movie last night from iTunes (Tinker/Tailor/Soldier/Spy, HD).
Today, attempting to watch via my Apple TV (2nd gen) home sharing, but it's asking for authorization.
-- the movie DOES play on the computer directly
    -- I've tried deauthorizing/reauthorizing the computer. (iMac)
-- Tried disconnecting home sharing & reconnecting.
-- Tried upgrading Apple TV software (upgrade was successful, movie still asks for authorization)
-- Other purchased movies play without problems.
    Any thoughts?

I'd submit a bug report to the itunes customer support

Welcome to the Apple Community Tarskforce.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

  • ITunes error downloading or playing purchased movies

Purchased movies will not down load on iMac, iPhone or Apple TV. iMac the warning message network connection refused. iPhone message "cannot connect to server". My current setup has been working fine for the last month and nothing has been changed. Please help

Sorry... bumping this as I'm still having the same problem.

  • Why can't I play purchased movies on my Apple TV? And why does iTunes match not work on my Apple TV?

I have an Apple TV (early 2012) and bought some movies in the iTunes store. Now, Apple TV doesn't let me watch my purchased content. I very well can listen to music I have bought in the iTunes store and watch the purchased movies on my iphone 6 (running the latest iOS 8) and on my MacBook Air (running the latest version of Yosemite). I can also rent movies on Apple TV and watch them - no problem at all.
The other problem I have is that I activated iTunes Match on my Apple TV. But it doesn't work either. On my Mac and on my iphone - there's no problem. On Apple TV instead there is always appearing the message, that it will take a couple of minutes to setup iTunes Match  on Apple TV. Well... that is too nice to be true! It takes hours and even after that it doesn't work at all.
I checked the forums and tried different things:
    1. Updating my Apple TV's software to the latest release
    2. Restoring all settings of my Apple TV and taking it offline (meaning: logging out of iTunes on Apple TV and taking it off power)
    3. Restarting my modem and router after half a minute break and taking it off power.
    4. Setting up Apple TV again and reconnecting it with iTunes and my WLAN-router.
    5. I also wanted to Airplay the screen of my MAC or iphone to Apple TV -> doesn't work (even though I can watch the movies on this two devices without any problems). Other content can be airplayed to Apple TV without any problems as well.
    -> Nothing seems to work!
When I tried to play the moves the following to messages appear:
    1. iTunes is currently unavailable. Try again later. (But Apple TV recognizes how much of the movie has been watched already. It indicates that it is connecting and authorizing... and after that the message above appears). OR
    2. Apple TV says that the movie will be ready to be watched in two hours from now... or that you have to chose a lower resolution, if you want to watch it any sooner.
Does anyone face the same difficulties? And of course: Does anyone know any cure and salvation for my Apple TV? ;-)
Thanks so much for your assistance!

There's an issue currently that a lot of us are experiencing in that we all get the error message "iTunes is currently unavailable; please try later"
It's an issue with Apple and we're awaiting an update re this
I've posted a topic in regards to this after having a long conversation with Apple support this morning and will be receiving a call from their tech team tomorrow to run through it further
As it stands iTunes cannot be accessed via ATV's and nor can it be streamed via AirPlay from iTunes to the ATV
However I can access all films/iCloud content via my Mac Mini with no issues!

  • Purchased movie wont play on apple TV

    Hello
i purchased a movie yesterday on the Ituens store to play via airplay and apple tv on my TV but get a message there is a technical problme playing the movie. All my other movies which are not itunes movies play fine through apple TV o
on the TV screen I get the message you need to autorize your computer with Ituens store which is. Now could it be that I do not have a internet conection at home , do i need to be conected to internet to play this movie via apple tV which does not make sense as I can play it fine on the computer withouth being on the internet

I believe I am experiencing the same problem. When I try to stream iTunes-purchased movies from my iPad 2 to an Apple TV without Internet Connection (used only for AirPlay) I get the error "The operation could not be completed An unknown error occurred (3)"
Extremely frustrating and goes to show that you dont really own your iTunes movie given these use cases where you have to "phone home" to Apple for permission to play it. Add it to the long list of reasons we're better off grabbing these from torrent... Plays on any device, doesn't phone home, wider selection, etc. Eventually movies will get over their DRM fetish just like music did. Until the multi-millionaire executives get that through their thick heads, millions of people will continue to be frustrated and just pirate cuz it's such a better experience. And free, but that isn't even the issue for me.

    Hi
I am having problems downloading 2 purchased movies. Cars 2 & Toy Story. I had it on My iPad, then after a while the movies would not play. I went to the apple store and they deleted it and told me that all I need to do is download it again. I tried what they suggested at the apple store, but I am still not successful. It continues to tell me there is a download error. Please help! Need these movies for my 3 year old!

  • ITunes purchased movies do not run on macbook pro retina display - Error message: HDCP not supported.

    Hello community,
If i try to play a iTunes purchased movie on may Macbook Pro 15 Retina, a Error message comes up "HDCP not supported". I try to run it on the notebook screen, I have not plugged in any external device (monitor, beamer..).
    Full Error message in german:
Der gewählte Film kann auf dem angeschlossenen Bildschirm nicht wiedergegeben werden.
Dieser Film kann nur auf Bildschirmen wiedergegeben werden, die HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) unterstützen.
    Any ideas?

I had this same problem.  What worked for me- not sure which one did it, but I went to System Preferences-Displays, and I turned off "Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available" and I also changed my resolution from "Best for retina display" to scaled "More Space".  The other scaling options seemed to do similar.

I can't play any purchased movies. Sounds like it is the 6.0 update. So what is the fix? Am I just stuck not being able to use my Apple TV until...?

Sorry I can't help but I have potentially a similar problem.
We have an Apple TV 3 and after the most recent software update (potentially coincidental timing), our purchased movies & TV shows will no longer play for our US account. We can play previews but that's it. We also tried renting a new movie but that didn't work either. No error messsage, just select play, it thinks about it, then returns you to the same screen again.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • ITunes keeps crashing when I try to play purchased movies

I've been having continued problems with the error The Network Connection Has Been Reset when trying to download movies and TV shows. Also, when I play a purchased movie, the movie quits suddenly for no reason. I have to start it up again. It's crashed 6 times in the first 15 minutes tonight. I'm using the latest version of iTunes and am on OSX 10.6.8
Are these known issues and can anyone help with one or both problems? They appear to be related, although no error message is shown with the movies. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes?
    Thank you!

  • Why cant iPad 3 play iTunes purchased movies?

So I've got an iPad 3 or not so new 'new' ipad with retina dsiplay and haven't ever had issues before in syncing or playing HD or SD movies on it.
Recently, I'm guessing after one of the recent updates I can't sync a purchased movie or TV show such as "Anchorman" or "Game of Thrones season 3 - Ep1" to my iPad 3.
I get an error msg saying that these movies or TV shows weren't synced to the ipad because the ipad can't play that file?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but an iPad with Retina display should be able to play any downloaded purchased movie wetc from the itunes store.
This is really irritating as the main reason I have this thing is to sync movies and TV shows to watch while travelling on planes etc.
And yes, I realise I could probably download them straight to the iPad through ym purchased link in the itunes store or something but that sort of defeats the purpose and takes much longer than a sync.
Please help its driving me nuts......
P.S - I'm no iPad nor iOS or OSX noob, and have had an iPad of some sort since the first day they were released.

The only thing that I could suggest is the really basic stuff which I'm sure that you already tried, reboot the iPad, quit iTunes, restart your computer and try again ....
I understand the principle behind being able to sync as it should, but sometimes trying to get to the bottom of something like this can be like beating your head against the wall and you never get anywhere. My point is, you may have to just "bite the bullet" and delete the show from the iPad and download it again.
I have had to do that a couple of times with purchased movies that would not sync or play correctly on the iPad.

  • Purchased movies suddenly not playing.

These are movies with the little cloud in the top right. I push play, it seems like it is about to start, and then it just goes right back to the previous screen (with the play button) in one second. There is NO error message. I have no issue buying or renting NEW movies. Those work fine. I am not looking to stream/share from a computer in the house. I just want to play from the cloud just as I have always managed to do without the slightest problem. Everything seems to be updated and I am signed in to my account on apple tv (hence being able to purchase new movies). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello Gambett
Check to see if you can download your purchased movie. If you can, delete it and download it again to test. If you are still having issues, then report the issue to the iTunes Store.

  • Purchased movies won't play on apple TV

I have several purchased movies that are visible in my iTunes library and on my apple TV.  When I try to play them, I get an error message that says "iTunes is currently unavailable.  Please try again shortly" after the account authorization appears.  My music works just fine and a movie that I rented last night plays fine too.  Anybody else having this issue?  Fixes?  Thanks ahead of time!

OOur internet service is not always fast enough to stream directly on Apple TV which is why we want to use AirPlay from the iPad to Apple TV.   When we try to play a movie it starts for one second and then crashes out.   This does not happen with every TV show - we watched 8 episodes of Season 4 with no problem, but it would not play episode 9 or episode 1 of season 5.
