Purchased music folder

Hello. I was wondering if it is possible to get back the purchesed music folder after it has been removed from itunes?
and how can I switch those songs i bought too my new ibook from my old windows computer?
thanks so much!

It will re-appear on your next purchase.
In the meantime you can create a smart playlist with the rule:
Kind - is - Protected AAC
Once the Purchased icon is back, you can drag all your Protected AAC files to it.
There are several ways to move transfer (purchased) music from one computer to another.
This article tells you how:

Hope this helps.

  • "Purchased Music" folder shows different music on different macs...

All the music was purchased with the same ID. But over the years, they were purchased from different authorized machines in my household. Some mac some windows (I am under the authorized computer limit of 5).
Recently, I consolidated all the purchased music as a single backup and restored them onto all my macs. On these macs, all the purchased music is viewable in the Library->Music. However, if i click on the "Purchased Music" folder, each mac shows a different list of purchased music. It "sort" of corresponds to which machine was used to purchase the music, but not exactly.
I would like, on each mac, for ALL protected AAC music downloaded from iTunes Music Store, to show up in "Purchased Music" folder. How do I make this happen?

The 'Purchased' playlist behaves just like a normal playlist.
You can add and delete items in it like in any other normal playlist.
Why it contains other items than purchased ones, I can't tell.
I can only guess you dragged those items in it by accident.
To correct this, select the non-purchases and delete them.
    Hope this helps.

  • ITunes' Library "populating' Purchased Music folder

It seems all of the music I've copied off of CDs has migrated from my iTunes Library folder and now shows up in the 'Purchased' music folder. Those items that have been purchased show up twice. I'm hesitent to 'delete' anything from the Purchased folder for fear of losing music.
    1. Why/how did this happen?
    2. How can it be resolved?
    Tks!

  • Purchased Music not going into that folder

Hi.....this may not be the correct place to post this.......anyway.....prior to iTunes 5, whenever I purchased songs from the Music store, all songs downloaded straight into the Purchased Music folder....now, with iTunes 5, they don't go into the Purchased Music folder, songs just end up in the library.....anyone experiencing this? I just like to keep all of the purchased music in that folder......I just drag them into the pm folder, but before iTunes 5 it was automatic and now it's not....also...the Purchased Music folder used to be green and placed just below the "Music Store"...now it is blue like a regular playlist and is placed alphabetically down with the "P's"......this all occurred after upgrading to iTunes 5.........thanks for any info on solving this.......

    Dana:
As you can tell if you read through this forum, v5 is not without its little quirks.
To restore your Purchased Music playlist, go to iTunes preferences and select the Store pane. Then switch on the "Buy Using Shopping Cart".
Exit preferences and in the source menu, the Store icon has a little triangle next to it. Click on it, and there should now be two additional icons - "Shopping Cart" and "Purchased" (note the shortened name).
If there still isn't a purchased playlist, go to the iTMS and download a free track - the playlist will regenerate.
If you don't want to keep the shopping cart enabled, you can go back to preferences and turn it off. The Purchased playlist should now stay at the top of the source menu.

  • Playback of purchased music skips, wrong speed, etc.

Ok, this was going to be a question, but maybe it will help diagnose future problems.
    Software:
    iTunes 6.0.4 (3)
    FireFox 1.5.0.3 (most recently updated)
    OS 10.4.6
    Hardware:
    PowerMac G5 dual processor 2Ghz
recently added 2GB of RAM for total of 2.5GB
    Symptom:
Purchased music only would play very poorly. It was skipping and playing at the wrong speed; it seemed like it was playing too fast, but I couldn't be sure. There was also some audio noise mixed in. Music ripped from CDs (MP3s) played fine.
    Solution: Rebooted system.
Suspected failure: I had been surfing (with a recently updated version of FireFox) on MySpace, reading some forums and clicking on some user icons, which would, in some cases start playing embedded music or video with audio. After surfing for a while, I noticed my background music (iTunes was playing the entire time) was sounding really terrible. I skipped to the next song, and it was fine. Soon, it was terrible again. It would only mess up on AAC files. I checked the Activity monitor and the system was mostly idle (about 90% idle) with 1.8GB of free RAM. Disk activity was low. There were no limited resources. However, the only things that have changed on this system recently are FireFox and the RAM configuration. Shutting down all other applications did NOT correct the problem. A reboot was required. I'm listening to my purchased music folder as I type this and it has yet to miss a beat. I am using FireFox and I have Mail and X11 (X-Windows) open. I can't be sure, but I believe that FireFox (OS X/FireFox bug?) grabbed resources in the audio subsystem and did not free them, but that is all speculation.
    I hope this helps someone.

You are correct, sir. I was confused. I reposted my observations on the Mac side. This thread can be deleted by whomever might be able to do that.

  • Already purchased music not showing up in purchased tab

I preordered the rhcp album "I'm With You" and I downloaded it to my Macbook Pro the other night when it was available. Today, I tried downloading it from cloud when I wasn't near my computer but it didn't show up in the Purchased section. I got the music to my phone via my Macbook Pro but still the music is not showing up in my cloud. What is the issue here?

The Purchased Music folder isn't a smart playlist.
To find all your Purchased Music, forget about the list in the Shopping Cart and create a Smart Playlist whose sole criteria is:
    Kind contains protected AAC
Tick the 'Live updating' box and click OK. That Smart Playlist will then show you all your purchased music, regardless of how you bought it.

  • Missing Purchase Music

I reloaded my computer and have all of my music in existing folder structures on my PC. I was able to connect to Apple and bring down my purchased music again but then was asked if I wanted iTunes to manage my folders for me or not. I said "yes" and that's when my purchased music disappeared. I've since uninstalled iTunes / reinstalled. Removed new iTunes folder structure that was created when i said "yes" and still "no luck". Now when I try to get my purchase music again it says you already downloaded it to this machine

"Make a smart playlist where “Kind” is something like “Protected AAC audio file.”
I did this and was able to drag my protected content into the Purchase Music folder successfully.
    Thanks for everyone's help.

  • Previously Purchased Music

The past two times I have opened iTunes, it asked me to sign in, so I did. Then it starts re-downloading songs I have already purchased. I have 3 of the same song in my purchased music folder. Will I get charged for that? Also, do you know why it keeps reloading songs I've already purchased?

This has happened me now, with 1 song from a pre-ordered album is there a fix for this?

  • Ios7 - purchased music not showing up in purchased playlist!?!

I found recently that music that I purchase either on my computer or on my phone does not automatically show up on my purchased playlist?  Any ideas as to why this is occuring or how to fix it?

  • Re-Downloading purchased music

Over the years I have purchased a lot of songs. Due to various computer crashes etc. I no longer have some songs I already purchased. Does anyone know a way I can see a list of ALL the music I have purchased and re-download them. My current Purchased Music" folder only has the tunes from my last computer reformat.
    Thanks

You can see what you've purchased by logging into the iTunes Music Store and going to the "Purchase History" area.
But as to re-downloading, sorry, but officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased tracks. It's your responsibility to make backup copies in case something goes wrong with your system, as unfortunately it apparently did in your case, and you lose information from your hard drive. If you haven't made a backup, and don't have your tracks on an iPod, you're probably out of luck and will need to repurchase your tracks.
You can try contacting iTunes Music Store Customer Service and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis, but don't count on it.
Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Discussions page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums, in the User Tips Library and in the Apple Knowledge Base before you post a question.

  • Showing Songs In 'Purchased Music' On 2 Macs?

My 24" Intel iMac has gone away to have a new Superdrive fitted so I am currently using my 7 year old G3 500Mhz iMac!
I need to buy a song from iTunes using my G3.
How do I ensure that the song is installed on my Intel iMac (when I get it back) in the Purchased Music folder?
I need it to be there because that is the folder that I back up daily to my iDisc via my .Mac subscription.

I resolved this in the end by dragging the song into a plug-in flash drive on my G3 then plugging the flash drive into my Intel iMac and dragging the song into the Purchased Music folder. It works fine.
Was this an overly-complicated method of getting an iTunes song from one computer to another?

  • Music folder transferred to a new computer won't sync

my iTunes folder contains approximately 8,000 songs. the computer on which it's stored is no longer working properly, so i saved my itunes folder onto an external hard drive, then uploaded it to a new laptop. now, when i attempt to sync my entire music library from the new computer, it only syncs my purchased music.
the files have transferred successfully, as i can click on any given song and it will indeed play (on the computer).
it's almost as though my music non-purchased music folder is saved in the wrong place, or that my ipod is not pointing to the right folder.
any idea how to combat this problem?

    Hi HB3207!
I have a couple of suggestions for you to attempt to resolve this issue. First, I would try re-creating your iTunes library following the instructions listed here:
iTunes: How to re-create your iTunes library and playlists
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1451
You may also need to simply try restarting your phone and attempting to sync again after a restart. Information on completing this can be found here:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!

CD's purchased from iTunes but uploaded to iTunes do not show up in the music folder on my Apple TV!  How do I fix this?

You would need to make sure you're accessing the Computers icon. If you are under the Music icon, that will be accessing the cloud and only show iTunes purchases (unless you subscribe to iTunes Match)

In iTunes, try signing out of your Apple ID & then back in: click on iTunes Store on the left sidebar of iTunes, click on your Apple ID on the top right, sign out, sign back in.  Then try to sync your purchased music to your phone again.
