Purchased music- network connection timed out

I have recently purchased several songs from the iTunes store. Some songs have downloaded, others have not. When I go to "check for purchases," the songs show up, act as if they are downloading (with the spinning wheel), and then an error message pops up, saying "There was a problem downloading...The network connection timed out." This happens each time I try. I even tried to repurchase the same songs, but I am unable to because iTunes says I have aready purchsed them and need to doewnload them. I have been dealing with customer support for days and they keep telling me the same **** thing- click on check for purchases!!
Does anyone know how I can own the songs I have already paid for?? Help, please!

You're obviously experiencing some sort of network issues, sadieandgracie. While your network may be fine with things besides iTunes, that doesn't mean some sort of security software or such isn't interfering with iTunes. Like I tell others, you may want to consider performing the following to be sure no software is conflicting with iTunes:
1.) Disable all anti-virus software you may have running
2.) Disable all firewall software you may have running
3.) Disable all web acceleration software you may have running
4.) If you are connected to the internet via an internet router, please disconnect it and connect directly via your broadband modem

"I am having the same issue. I updated to the newest version and now all of my purchased songs will not download to the i-POD even if I check the "purchased" box. It actually deletes all of the songs on the i-POD and I have to re-download the non-purchased songs again."
As for the above, you may want to consider manually managing your music if you're having issues with the songs on your iPod being deleted. More information can be found here:

  • Still can't download iTunes purchases, please help! incorrectly says "network connection timed out"

I've been trying for 4 days to download purchased media from iTunes and I keep getting this error message "The network connection timed out." I assure you my internet connection works perfectly.
Not sure if this is relevant, but this error spontaneously happened after my most recent purchase on the night of 2/10. I was able to download some iTunes extras right before I made the most recent HD movie purchase, and as soon as I tried to download that, nada!
Here's what I've already tried, but has NOT worked:
    -re-opening iTunes
    -restarting computer (several times)
    -deleting tmp files
    -disabling antivirus ware & firewalls
    -deleting & re-installing iTunes
If anyone has any other ideas to help me out, I'm all ears!
    Thanks!

    hi, thanks for your response!
please excuse my ignorance, but do you mean log into my iTunes at an apple store & download my purchases onto a flash? I wasn't aware I could do that...

  • The network connection timed out, cannot access music store

it seems wehatever firewall or antivirus i use has no bearing on what message is coming up!!! i cannot connect to the music store, the messaage says the network connection timed out, make sure your network settings are correct, and your network conection is active, tehn try again. i am on wanadoo livebox, which is hard wired not woreless to my computer, this automatically sets up a network, but i have never had these problems before with itunes 6 but since reinstall its not working!!! someone help for the love of god!!!

Did you make sure it was the exact file for your device and the latest version? I just downloaded the latest file for my iPhone4, put it in the folder I mentioned above and it ran the install versus downloading the file. This problem where it times out after downloading is a big Bug within iTunes that has been there ever since IOS 7.0 was released. I wished these apple developers would just fix iTunes. There are a ton of complaints about this issue. I sure miss Steve Jobs running this business, I really feel like it's gone down hill after he left.
    I hope this helps!
    Regards.

  • Error: Network Connection Timed Out

I am beyond ****** off at the moment. My iTunes was working perfectly until two weeks ago, and now it insists my Network Connection Timed Out when I try to access the store or update podcasts.
It can't be my internet connection, because as you can see, I'm able to access the internet. For some reason it's this specific copy of iTunes (7.5), because the iT7 downstairs works perfectly. Of course, since Apple are so fecking stingy, I can't add a few files from there without wiping everything off my iPod.
    So here's the run-down:
I'm using a Dell Inspiron 8600, Windows XP, browsing with Firefox and attempting to load the latest podcasts onto my iPod Shuffle. I don't give a toss about downloading songs, I just want to update my podcasts without having to search the net for the source file.
I ran the Network Diagnostics and it insists the Conneciton to iTunes failed, suggesting I adjust my cable (i don't have one - it's wireless) or flush my dns settings (which i've done several times).
I found a thread on these forums from March and tried every solution:
    - uninstalling and reinstalling itunes... doesn't work.
    - opening Internet Explorer 7, then opening iTunes... doesn't work.
    - searching for a host file and removing the phobos apple line... doesn't work. The phobos line wasn't there
    - using itunes 7... doesn't work.
    - flushing my dns... doesn't work.
    - turning off my firewall.... doesn't work.
    - avoiding clashes with mcafee or zone alarm... doesn't work, cos i don't use those
I think it's appalling that I've tried all this, and i'm still no closer to knowing what the problem is, and that Apple failed to respond to any of the other people's problems in the earlier thread. And that i spent about ten minutes signing up to this fecking forum just to ask for help. Surely support should be readily available to anyone!
Can anybody help me? In the other thread, people found alternative sites for buying music, but has anyone got an alternative, ipod-compatible podcasting program?

I have this same problem. Here's what I can add to this discussion - iTunes accessed the iTunes store a day or two ago. I have a home network and can access the internet from all of the networked PCs. I can access the iTunes store from all of the networked PCs using Internet Explorer. I can access the iTunes store from my laptop iTunes. I can not access the iTunes store from my workstation PC. I get the same "network connection timed out" message. I downloaded and installed a new (same version) of iTunes on the workstation PC. both the laptop and the workstation are running the same OS (Windows XP SP2), both are Dell computers, both are accessing the internet via a wired connection to the same switch and the same router. All other internet connections work fine.
What's different? In the last couple of days my Workstation lost access to a network printer. I worked with HP for over an hour to re-establish network connection to that printer with no success. I have access to the same networked printer from my laptop.
The IP address for the network printer is identical to what it was when it was installed - HP suggests looking for a change to the IP address. I made no changes to the workstation PC, the home network or the router, ISP, or internet connection.
But, it seems to me that the loss of access to the HP networked printer and the inability of iTunes to access the iTunes store are related.
I also called Apple and attempted to get technical support. I own 4 iPods with 104 Gbs of storage on them, I own 1900 CDs and iTunes has 36.5 days of music loaded into it.
I purchased Apple Care on all of the iPods - it's expired and they never warned me. They want to charge me $29 to fix this problem - even though I no longer can purchase music via the iTunes Store, so I need to pay $29 in order to gain access to the iTunes store to spend more money with Apple?! Not a smart business decision. I own a few other PC based music programs and more than willing to transfer all of it out of iTunes and into one of the other products. I'll sell all the iPods on eBay and purchase other MP3 players if I must.
But, I suspect the problem is (1) Apple doesn't have a documented answer to this problem, (2) the level 1 techs that answer the support phone are clueless - they just e-mailed me the same article from the Apple website that I told them I read and does not apply to my problem, and obviously does not resolve my problem. (3) Apple is not setup to resolve this type of problem with their level 1 support, and they can't escalate the problem without charging us.
I'll try again on Monday, may even purchase Apple Care first and then use that. The Apple Care Tech Support is typically better than the free level 1 call in support.
Suggestions, comments, etc. are all appreciated.

My downloading is working except when importing music into iTunes. I have microsoft vista and use mcafee but get the msg error 3259-"Network connection timed out - help

I too am having the same problem. New computer (Dell Inspiron E1505) and new Nano. I've disabled my firewall access, allowed for full access for iTunes, I remain connected to the internet, I remain connected to iTuens store (I can listen to music, see my account info and even see the purchased songs), but I can't download my songs without getting the error 3259 message network connection timed out.
I contacted Apple/iTunes; they haven't found a solution other than disabling my firewalls, which as I've said I've already done.
I contacted my ISP and they thought it was a version problem. They suggested that I try to download iTunes version 6, but that hasn't worked either. I just hope someone has a solution. I'm about to take back my ipod and forget the whole thing. Good luck to you and wish me luck!

I have been experiencing this as well for about a month and just about five minutes ago I resolved it! I have done everything! You need to unistall iTunes and Quicktime. Don't think you will loose your music as it is on you PC. Trust me. _Follow the links_ on unistalling everything, download it again with the following link and all you music automatically uploads again. It was amazing!

  • Network connection timed out....err 3259

Please help! iphone5 is in recovery mode after trying to update to iOS 7, but will not restore. Keep getting "network connection timed out' error 3259. I have disabled my firewall, uninstalled any sort of antivirus (was Norton), flushed dns cache, uninstalled/reinstalled itunes twice, started itunes "run as administrator", many times restarting my computer. Made sure the time/time zone were correct on my computer. What am I doing wrong?
Super frustrated--my iphone is basically useless until I can restore it.
I would go to an apple store to ask these questions, but the nearest one is 3 hours away.
    PLEASE HELP!!!

Oh.. sorry forgot Carrie.. I'm on Verizon.net DSL for my service provider.. Not Road Runner.. So not sure if it's an Internet Provider issue.. And as I've said before.. It worked fine before when I downloaded "Pirates of the Carribean" And "Stick It" No problems.. Just as of the other night all these errors started..
I do have some insight to this issue.. And in my opinion.. And my experience.. It's almost as if Apple's Firewall to the port in which the movies download is being blocked.. I've checked my Norton Antivirus to see if it was me.. But everything is fine on my end.. Even Disabled Norton's Firewall completely off to trouble shoot.. And still the same errors.. So It's not me.. Even uninstalled and reinstalled ITUNES 7.2 itself.. Not that either.. As I said.. It feels like the port in which the movies are downloaded from is being blocked when it shouldn't.. You can plainly see a connection trying to be made.. And when initiating.. It tries and tries, then you get the error.. Because it failed to make connection.. This may be the case for the music as well and any other purchased items from ITunes store.. When purchased.. The script should open up the ports for that customer and allow full access.. But something is stopping it.. Could be a script error.. Not sure.. Just me thinking of multiple things it could actually be..
And finally.. I hate to say this.. And anything is possible at this point.. But since the installation of IE 7.. I've noticed errors on applications I would of never dreamed possible in the past weeks.. So i'm afraid IE 7 may be on the list of possibilities as well. And may be worth looking into on Apple's part as well.. Just an idea.. Since I have no control of this situation.. I thought i'd shed some insight on it and try to be of some help until it's actually fixed..
    Hope it helps out ..

  • Purchased download - network conn timing out

I have purchased music and at every attempt to download, it goes through all of the songs, but then gives an error that the network connection timed out. Nothing downloaded.
I'm on dial up with Juno at about 26400 bps...way too slow I know, but shouldn't this download?
    Thanks

Try disabling the "download accelerator" component of your Juno software - SpeedBand I believe they call it. Those dial-up enhancement tools cause the store downloads to fail.

  • Can't download software updates in iTunes - error message "network connection timed out"

I'm unable to download software updates for my iTouch 4.1 in iTunes.  I have iTunes version 10.5, Windows 7.  i've tried numerous times in the past and always get the same error message.  I'm now experiencing problems with some of my apps. and I've attempted 4 times in the past 2 days to upload version 5.0. It goes thru the whole download (761.61 MB), says "processing file", then closes out and I get the following message:
"There was a problem downloading the software for the iPod "xxxxx's iPod". The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are current and your network connection is active or try again later. Err = .3529."
I ran diagnostics and it said everything was fine.
Also not all the apps. on my iTouch are in my iTunes library even though I've synced my iTouch numerous times since I've purchased the apps. with my iTouch.  All the apps on my 2nd screen are on iTunes, but none of the apps. on my 3rd screen of my iTouch are in iTunes.

You will need to restart from the beginning. Try temporarily turning off all your firewall and antivirus software until the download has completed and see if that stops the network timeout.

Ive been having this problem for over 24 hours now. Bad bit is that I had restored my iphone just before this so ive been stuck without a mobile phone since then.
    Symptoms:
Iphone appears in itunes but when the iphone tries to get onto the store to finish re-activation the connection hangs and then i get the error "we could not complete your itunes store request. the network connection timed out".
I can browse the itunes music store + podcast store and i can download podcasts.
    Safari is working perfectly.
Anything anyone can suggest would be a big help. I presume it it apple's server's fault.
