Purchased playlist crashing iTunes

Something just happened when I purchased two songs from the iTunes store. The first one seemed to download okay, but the second one caused a glitch.
Now when I go to my Purchased playlist, I always get "iTunes has stopped working."
"Check for available downloads" tells me everything I've purchased has been downloaded.
Repurchasing the track tells me I already own it (so I exit out), though it's not showing up in a search of my music collection.
Please help. My favorite playlist is my Purchased one!

I wonder if the song that you can't find is corrupted and causing iTunes to crash.
Try looking for the file using Windows explorer when iTunes is closed, as I am sure you know iTunes puts files in folders by artist then album so it should be easy enough to find. When you find it it, try double clicking on it to see if iTunes will open and play the file, if there is a problem you will know that there is a problem with that file. Try moving it another folder away from iTunes.
If you have a bad file, you need to contact iTunes customer service to allow you to re-download it.

  • Where is my purchased playlist in iTunes 11?

Is it standard that all playlists are lost when you update to iTunes 11?  Also, did everyone else have to re-import their entire library when they updated to iTunes 11?  Also, am I the only one that has spent the third Saturday in a row trying to figure out this software upgrade?

Some people have had to re import their libraries as well but their files were still on the computer. I suppose that underlines the need for backup before you install new software.
to help with the software upgrade there are some steps to take that make it more like iTunes 10
    1) View > Show Sidebar
    2) View > Show Status Bar
    3) Click in the black arrow in the Search box and untick Search Entire Library to make search worked like it did in iTunes 10
Step 1 will show The Library, devices and Playlists.
Purchased playlist should be under the iTunes Store link in the left hand sidbar

  • ITunes playlists crashing iTunes

I have a couple of iTunes playlists which, when I click on them, crash iTunes. I've tried re-installing iTunes and re-intsalling my user>music>iTunes>iTunes library from my back-up but the problem persists. I've set up the playlists again (under new names) and they work fine. But I want to get rid of the dodgy playlists. I can't do this within iTunes itself because the moment I click on them the app crashes. Any ideas as to where the playlists are kept and how I can delete them?

Playlists are stored in the iTunes Library file which contains everything textual about your iTunes collection. That file can't be edited. It has a sister file called iTunes Library.xml which can be edited. This sister file contains most of the data that is in your main library, but I know there are some omissions (just can't remember what - probably minor stuff for me such as ratings).
So, unless somebody has a better idea, you could open a copy of the xml file and see if you can spot the offending playlists and remove them, or maybe even see where the library is corrupted. Then start iTunes with the option key held down and create a new library. This will be blank but you can then import the xml file that you just edited into this library and basically re--create your old library, minus a few details.
I suppose if you have a backup of your library from before this happened you could use that, but of course if you have done major changes then you'll lose those. Some people do not back up their files, but iTunes will make an archive of your library every time you upgrade iTunes. If you have done that recently you can start up from the old file (hold option key down while starting iTunes).

  • ATV on-the-go saved playlist crashes iTunes - any ideas?

Apple TV has the latest 2.3 software update.
iTunes is the most current (just downloaded).
Put a few folders into my library. Syncd the ATV with iTunes.
Added two songs to the on-the-go playlist with the ATV.
Saved the playlist and named it "Test1".
    ATV works fine.
When re-syncing ATV and iTunes (or closed iTunes and reopened), iTunes crashes just as the ATV is recognized.
A pop up box from iTunes says: "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
The "Test1" playlist does show under the ATV device in iTunes (you can see this as iTunes doesn't close until you choose "Send Error Report" or "Don't Send" from the pop up error box).
I've removed iTunes, and re-installed it.
"Test1" playlist still shows after sync.
I reset ATV to factory defaults which clears all music/playlists/photos etc (and also set it back to software version 1.o).
iTunes does NOT show the playlist now.
Upgraded ATV back to software version 2.3.
    All OK.
Do the same with a playlist again on the ATV - problem happens again.
I've had iTunes set for "Custom Sync" the first time, "Auto sync" the second time. Same results.
    Ideas anyone?

UPDATE: I reset my ATV and uninstalled/installed iTunes at least 3 times. Always get the "encounter a problem....must shutdown" error in iTunes if I save an on-the-go playlist on the ATV. This was with iTunes 8.0.2 (or 8.0.2.something) and ATV software 2.3
I went back to iTunes Version 7.7.1.11 and I'm NOT having the problem. So far, so good.
I think there is a real issue here. If anyone has done this with the latest ATV and iTunes and didn't have trouble, I would appreciate some feedback to that effect here. It would be nice to have Genius in V8 iTunes, but not with the playlist issue.

  • Smart Playlists crash iTunes

I have the latest iTunes (10.x, b*** 6), and when I went into iTunes all my smart playlists were gone and when i went to create a new one, iTunes stops working and needs to be shut down. I never knew i used the 'Recently Added' Playlist sooo much...Well, actually i did.

*Is there a way to make a subfolder within iTunes.*
You can make folder to put playlists into only. It doesn't to do anything else like put the music into different folders. It just helps to keep playlist straight.
I'm not able to create a playlist list I want without combining two different smart playlist.
    and?
Is there some reason you don't want to do this?

  • ITunes Purchased Playlist missing tunes

    Hi,
The purchased playlist in Itunes is missing a few tunes. They are in my Library, just not in my purchased playlist. On the purchased menu on my Apple TV all of the items that I have purchsed are there. How can I get the purchased playlist in Itunes to be identical to this.
Thanking you in all in advance
    Greg Simms

You can just drag it in there. In fact, you can drag anything in there. It's just a regular playlist and end users can change it anyway they want.

  • Purchased Playlist not showing up on iPhone 5

I just synched my new iPhone5 and my entire Purchased playlist from iTunes doesn't show up. Is this happening to anyone else? What gives? This was not a smooth switch from my iPhone4 to the 5. Many glitches with email...not very pleased so far.

It appears there is a bug with iOS 6. Here is how I fixed this:
In iTunes, click File, New Smart Playlist.
Under "Match the following rule:" select "Purchased" and "is true".
Click Ok and name the new playlist Purchased. It should appear under Playlists.
Sync your device and it should work just fine. No need to delete the original Purchased list from the iTunes store.
    Hope this helps!

  • Purchased Playlist

The hard drive on my Macbook Pro was recently replaced, and I have a fresh install of OSX.6.8. I was able to get all of my music over to the new computer. However, the automatic "Purchased" playlist that iTunes creates no longer lists anything I purchased before the hard drive was replaced, just the music I purchased afterward. (The songs are in my library, but they're not in the playlist. They are all purchased with the same iTunes account.) I know I can easily create a Smart Playlist for this, but I'd rather keep everything in just the one place. Is there any way to get iTunes to do this?

So how did you find it??

  • Where do i find my purchased music from itunes?

Where do i find my purchased music from itunes in my library?

If you allow iTunes to organize your music, each one should be filed in the appropriate artist folder within your music folder. Why do you ask?
If you deleted the Purchased playlist in iTunes and want to get it back, try this:
You can recreate the playlist by creating a Smart playlist.
In iTunes choose File > New Smart Playlist
Choose Match Any  (You must add more than one rule to get the choice of "any" or "all")
    Kind Contains Protected
    +
    Kind Contains Purchased
    Check Live updating

  • When I try to retrieve my Purchased items from iTunes, it crashes!

Last night, I decided to Restore my iPod to Factory Settings.
Now, it told me that it would wipe EVERYTHING.
I was trying to research how to save the music I had purchased on my iPod but found nothing.
I exported the playlists from my iPod but they didn't seem to do much; when I imported them back into iTunes, it said that there were no contents.
Now this made me not be able to obtain access to my iTunes purchased items.
I have researched and found several tutorials, all of which work but just one thing.
When I try to download them, it crashes iTunes.
I have tried doing it without and with the iPod plugged in, both times failing.
Could anyone out there help me?
Thank you (this is the first time I have posted on the Support so please be, well, supportive!),

If they were songs you purchased from itunes, try redownloading them from your purchases...
if that doednt work, make sure the optuon to copy files to itunes media folder is checked in settings, then find and download from the net. and re-add them to your library

  • Help: iTunes completely reset itself, eliminating half of my purchased playlist, deleting all my podcast files, etc.  No idea why this happened and how can I fix it?

    Hello.
I did not touch my computer the past week, I've only been messing with my laptop.  I had my computer off a whole day.  I turn it on, open iTunes, and everything is gone.
I system restore.  Everything is gone.  None of my podcasts, apps, or music files are there.  My iPod itself is fine.  I restore back to current settings, still, everything gone.
I plug my iPod in.  I don't think it took anything off my iPod, but even without syncing, it eliminated a ton of the songs on my iPod from my 'purchased' playlist.  Now, these songs will not transfer back over to iTunes because iTunes is not recognizing them as official songs.  Is there a link to download/redownload your past purchases again?  I was trying to find that but had no luck. (Also my iTunes purchase history is incorrect and has at least 1 omitted song I paid for, but that is another story for another day).  I want these songs to transfer to my library so I can put them on a future iPod I bought.
I do things the legal way, I do not illegally get any music.  I've bought 800 to 1000 songs from iTunes over the year (now that is a lot of money).  Now my iPod is listing it as only 600 and some.  This is my second iPod and the second time I've had major issues with the iPod just going crazy on me.  I won't stick with Apple if I get screwed out of songs I have paid for.
Anyways, from what I have described, does anyone know what is up?  Directions on where to go to download all past purchases?  Ideas?
The only potentially bad thing I've done with iTunes at all is I delay updating it as long as possible.  I hadn't updated the most recent update for a few months now.  Still, that is no reason for the system to go ape **** on me.  I am fairly certain at this point that *all* my songs are still on my iPod, but as I said, if this one all of a sudden died or I wanted to get a new one, I'm looking at half my actually bought songs being non-transferrable.
    Thanks for any response.

    Backup, backup, backup...

Is your laptop a different computer than your computer?
    You have two computers?
iTunes is missing everything from which one/both?
I system restore.  Everything is gone.  None of my podcasts, apps, or music files are there.
Do you mean you reinstalled the system from scratch?
Yes, that tends to delete everything.
Or you restored everything from a backup?
Directions on where to go to download all past purchases?
Selete Store on the left side of iTunes.
Make sure you are signed in.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick links to redownlaod your purchases.
Then make sure to regularly backup, backup, backup all your important data .

  • Songs I have purchased on iTunes are not showing up in my Purchased playlist but are in my iTunes library

This has only been happening since updating my iPhone 5 to the new IOS 7.0.2  software and it has duplicated a new purchased playlist on my iTunes library. I have tried syncing the iPhone to my computer but still no luck they are not showing up in my purchased playlist.
In saying that, some songs I purchase do show up in the playlist but others don't or only half of an album shows even though I have downloaded the whole thing. It is driving me crazy!! Has anyone else got this problem and what did they do to sort it?
    Thanks!

    Hi samfergs,
I'm not sure how the Purchased Playlist decides what to put into it, but if you want to see all of your purchased items, then you need to go to the iTunes Store, and on the right side, under Quick Links, click on Purchased.
Then, click on the Music (or whatever other purchased items tab you want to look at). If you are looking at Music, click on All Songs, and then on "All" or "Not on this Computer" (depending on what you want to see).
    Cheers,

  • Music that I have already bought won't show up in iTunes - no purchased playlist

I have an iPhone 4s, I have bought almost 70 songs from iTunes previously and they show up ina purchased playlist on my phone, but when I try to download them they keep on saying downoad error, tap to retry, and they wont play in my library.
Besides that, I can't get my purchased songs to show up in iTunes either, there is no purchased option in my playlists.
I'm signed in to the same account that i purchased the songs from.
Everything should be working fine and it's not.

I wiped my ipod classic and then my computer crashed, so i no longer have the songs i purchsed from itunes on my ipod or computer! I have a new computer now with itunes installed, can I get the songs purchased previously from itunes somehow?

    Yes, you can!(:
    STEP 1: Open iTunes
STEP 2: Navigate to the "iTunes Store". It can be found under the "STORE" tab.
STEP 3: On the right side of the store there should be a "Quick Links" Section. Click on the "Purchased" link.
STEP 4: Navigate to the "Music" tab and click on "All Songs". Then at the bottom of the screen there will be a button that says "Download All". Click the button and your songs will be begin downloading!
NOTE: This will only work with songs that you bought from the iTunes store, if you imported them from a CD, you will have to do it again.
NOTE: You can also do this with Apps, Movies, TV Shows, and Books.
NOTE: You may have to sign in with your Apple ID to verify the download.
Hope this helped! Enjoy your music!(:
