Purchased Playlist

The hard drive on my Macbook Pro was recently replaced, and I have a fresh install of OSX.6.8. I was able to get all of my music over to the new computer. However, the automatic "Purchased" playlist that iTunes creates no longer lists anything I purchased before the hard drive was replaced, just the music I purchased afterward. (The songs are in my library, but they're not in the playlist. They are all purchased with the same iTunes account.) I know I can easily create a Smart Playlist for this, but I'd rather keep everything in just the one place. Is there any way to get iTunes to do this?

So how did you find it??

SADLY  not as i downloaded an upgrad to my original PAGES/
i have in the meantim had to open www.icloud. then from there import the file that i am working on and then check on ipad if it uploaded/ yes it did.
but what a waste of time as it doesn not save any changes done automatically back in the cloud....
i am now downloading the new LION and hope that it will fix the problem
i cant find any other way. I was lead to believe that you wrote, it saved automatically, on to the cloud, you then opened anohter device in anotother country even, and the new file was there, waiting, in its latest version.......
and the same magic was supposed to happen in reverse.
    It doesn't/
if i have to open a browser, go to www.icloud....why on earth did they not just leave us an icon to drop it in in that case?
I hope the new lion will help resolve the isssue/
any other ideas> keep em coming...thank you so much.

  • Help: iTunes completely reset itself, eliminating half of my purchased playlist, deleting all my podcast files, etc.  No idea why this happened and how can I fix it?

    Hello.
I did not touch my computer the past week, I've only been messing with my laptop.  I had my computer off a whole day.  I turn it on, open iTunes, and everything is gone.
I system restore.  Everything is gone.  None of my podcasts, apps, or music files are there.  My iPod itself is fine.  I restore back to current settings, still, everything gone.
I plug my iPod in.  I don't think it took anything off my iPod, but even without syncing, it eliminated a ton of the songs on my iPod from my 'purchased' playlist.  Now, these songs will not transfer back over to iTunes because iTunes is not recognizing them as official songs.  Is there a link to download/redownload your past purchases again?  I was trying to find that but had no luck. (Also my iTunes purchase history is incorrect and has at least 1 omitted song I paid for, but that is another story for another day).  I want these songs to transfer to my library so I can put them on a future iPod I bought.
I do things the legal way, I do not illegally get any music.  I've bought 800 to 1000 songs from iTunes over the year (now that is a lot of money).  Now my iPod is listing it as only 600 and some.  This is my second iPod and the second time I've had major issues with the iPod just going crazy on me.  I won't stick with Apple if I get screwed out of songs I have paid for.
Anyways, from what I have described, does anyone know what is up?  Directions on where to go to download all past purchases?  Ideas?
The only potentially bad thing I've done with iTunes at all is I delay updating it as long as possible.  I hadn't updated the most recent update for a few months now.  Still, that is no reason for the system to go ape **** on me.  I am fairly certain at this point that *all* my songs are still on my iPod, but as I said, if this one all of a sudden died or I wanted to get a new one, I'm looking at half my actually bought songs being non-transferrable.
    Thanks for any response.

    Backup, backup, backup...

Is your laptop a different computer than your computer?
    You have two computers?
iTunes is missing everything from which one/both?
I system restore.  Everything is gone.  None of my podcasts, apps, or music files are there.
Do you mean you reinstalled the system from scratch?
Yes, that tends to delete everything.
Or you restored everything from a backup?
Directions on where to go to download all past purchases?
Selete Store on the left side of iTunes.
Make sure you are signed in.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick links to redownlaod your purchases.
Then make sure to regularly backup, backup, backup all your important data .

  • Songs I have purchased on iTunes are not showing up in my Purchased playlist but are in my iTunes library

This has only been happening since updating my iPhone 5 to the new IOS 7.0.2  software and it has duplicated a new purchased playlist on my iTunes library. I have tried syncing the iPhone to my computer but still no luck they are not showing up in my purchased playlist.
In saying that, some songs I purchase do show up in the playlist but others don't or only half of an album shows even though I have downloaded the whole thing. It is driving me crazy!! Has anyone else got this problem and what did they do to sort it?
    Thanks!

    Hi samfergs,
I'm not sure how the Purchased Playlist decides what to put into it, but if you want to see all of your purchased items, then you need to go to the iTunes Store, and on the right side, under Quick Links, click on Purchased.
Then, click on the Music (or whatever other purchased items tab you want to look at). If you are looking at Music, click on All Songs, and then on "All" or "Not on this Computer" (depending on what you want to see).
    Cheers,

  • Cannot move songs from 'Purchased' playlist on my iPod (touch 8gb)

Soooooo I've purchased a handful of songs on my ipod touch and I cannot move them back to iTunes or to another playlist.
They are all listed in the Purchased playlist from the device.
Only one shows in the Purchased on [device] under Store in iTunes.
Also, they show up under the playlist in iTunes I moved them to but not on my iPod.
I've updated my iTunes software and my iPod, as well, without progress.
I'm not sure if I'm missing something or if there is a larger issue at hand.
    Thanks for reading

Are the chapters of the podcasts separated as individual files or are they a part of a single large file?

  • Music that I have already bought won't show up in iTunes - no purchased playlist

I have an iPhone 4s, I have bought almost 70 songs from iTunes previously and they show up ina purchased playlist on my phone, but when I try to download them they keep on saying downoad error, tap to retry, and they wont play in my library.
Besides that, I can't get my purchased songs to show up in iTunes either, there is no purchased option in my playlists.
I'm signed in to the same account that i purchased the songs from.
Everything should be working fine and it's not.

wow ... I get a headache just trying to read what you just said. I went and read how to migrate my library and found that you can only migrate purchased media.
No, you can easily migrate your entire library from one working compter to another.
If you fail to backup or migrate your library and find yourself with nothing but a new empty computer and a device full of content iTunes is designed to only recover the iTunes purchased content, however third party tools can help recover everything if needed.

  • Is there a way to filter out TV shows when looking at the "purchased" playlist?

I have playlist highlighted on the top of itunes and the I see the music box showing up.  On the lft hand side I selected the "purchased " playlist, but included in that are the the TV Shows I have purchased for my son.  So when I play and hit shuffle, every once in a while a TV show will start up

    Hello JordoF25,
You can go about this in a couple of different ways depending on what you are wanting out of it.
First you can highlight everything but the TV Shows in the Purchased playlist and add to them to a playlist.
    "Create a playlist
Choose File > New > Playlist.
Type a name for the playlist.
To add items, drag them to the playlist on the right side of the iTunes window.
When you’re finished adding items, click Done."

Or you can create a new smart playlist with criteria to grab all your Purchased content, and set the criteria to exclude the TV Shows.
    Create a Smart Playlist
Choose File > New > Smart Playlist.
    Specify your rules.
To add another set of rules, hold down the Option key and click the Nest button. (When you hold down the Option key, the Add button changes to the Nest button.)

  • Issues with purchases not showing up in Purchased Playlist.

Over the past week or so i have have noticed that my purchases are not showing up in my Purchased playlist on my iOS devices. They are syncing across devices but only being put under "Songs." I know i can manually add them to my Purchased playlist but that is such a pain. Anyone else having this issue?
I am currently working on restoring my iPhone 5S to see if this helps but again this is a huge pain.

Do you have automatic downloads turned on?  I think it's under iTunes menu >> preferences >> store.  Maybe turn on showing purchases in the cloud showing too.
Could also click iTunes Store >> purchases (under quick links) >> music.  Does the missing music show there with cloud and down arrow?

  • Purchased playlist won't be renamed

My "Purchased" playlist is blank where it should say "purchased". It won't give an option to rename it when I right-click, and it doesn't do anything when I double-click slowly.
PS it still plays the songs fine though, it just doesn't have a name.

    "Since updating computer..."
What did you update? The OS? iTunes?
have you played any of the purchased music on this computer since the "update"? Often you need to do that to remind iTunes that it is, in fact, allowed to play these tunes.

  • Why wont my purchased playlist show up into itunes

Why wont my purchased playlist show up into itunes

It may have been deleted. Nonetheless, you can recreate it:
    -Go into iTunes
-Click File > New Smart Playlist...
-On the first dropdown menu in the Smart playlist creator, select "Purchased"
-For the second dropdown menu, make sure "is true" is selected, thus recreating your Purchased playlist

  • Purchased Playlist Not Updating

Running iOS 7.0.1 on an iPhone 5s
My music app is not automatically downloading any new purchases, despite automatic downloads being turned on. Furthermore, it's not adding anything purchased on my iPhone to the "Purchased" playlist, it's simply going into the main library.
I contacted APP last night about it and they hadn't heard of the issue. Curious to see if anyone else has a similar issue and/or a fix!
    Thanks in advance!

So it appears iOS 7 now auto updates all smart playlists, but doesn't auto update regular playlists. The purchased playlist was treated as a special playlist under iOS 6, making it the only playlist that would auto update. Now it is treated as a regular playlist. To get an auto-updating purchased playlist, create a smart playlist in iTunes that only includes purchased music and order the playlist by purchase date.
Now if only we could add to a playlist, from a playlist....

  • Purchased Playlist Song Order When Purchasing New Songs

I recently transferred my music (including my purchased playlist) to my new computer. Everything runs fine, but I cannot figure out how to change the preferences on my purchased playlist. Previously, when I downloaded songs via the iTunes Store, they showed up at the top of the playlist (#1). However, now, they show up as the very last song in the playlist, which I dont like. I want to see the newest purchases at the top of the playlist. I've tried clicking the arrow above the numbers, to reverse the order, which works, but then when I purchase another song, it still puts it at the bottom of the list. How do I change it so that the most recent purchases show at the top of the list?

Sort by *Date Added* and click the triangle so it's pointing down.

  • Music purchased from iTunes not showing up on Purchased playlist on iPhone

The last few song purchases that I've made on iTunes are not showing on my Purchased playlist on my iPhone.  I do have Automatica Downloads turned on under the iTunes & App Stores settings on my iPhone.  I've tried signing out and signing in again on both my iPhone and computer.  I've also tried manually dragging the songs from my iTunes library to my iPhone through iTunes, but I'm when I click and drag the files from iTunes to the devices list, iTunes does not allow the songs to be moved to my iPhone.  Any suggestions?

I had the same issue.  Try this:  go into iTunes, select your iPhone, go to Ringtones tab, check the Sync seclected Ringtones, deselect the ringtones that you pruchansed from iTunes Store.  Now Apply/Sync the phone.  When it's done, Go back to the Ringtones tab and select Sync all Ringtones.  Apply/Sync the phone again.  Now go to a contact and set a ringtone, you should see all the purchased ringtones.  Good luck.

  • Purchased Playlist not showing up on iPhone 5

I just synched my new iPhone5 and my entire Purchased playlist from iTunes doesn't show up. Is this happening to anyone else? What gives? This was not a smooth switch from my iPhone4 to the 5. Many glitches with email...not very pleased so far.

It appears there is a bug with iOS 6. Here is how I fixed this:
In iTunes, click File, New Smart Playlist.
Under "Match the following rule:" select "Purchased" and "is true".
Click Ok and name the new playlist Purchased. It should appear under Playlists.
Sync your device and it should work just fine. No need to delete the original Purchased list from the iTunes store.
    Hope this helps!
    Taylor
