Purchased song isn't availale for download

I previously purchased a song and accidentally deleted it. When I do a check for available downloads, the song doesn't download. If I go back and try to purchase it again, iTunes recognizes that I have already purchased the song and says to check for downloads. Any ideas how I can get the song back without purchasing it again?

You were lucky. you should always backup your music. While itunes support may allow you to download, they are under no obligation to do so and may not allow this.

If you have failed to maintain a backup and do not have the music on an ipod, then asking for an exception is an option.

Purchased songs not showing up for download

Not sure why but some songs I purchased recently on my laptop (Macbook Pro OS X 10.7, iTunes 11) are not available for download on my desktop (Win XP, iTunes 11). Previously, I'd been able to download stuff on both machines, but now when I go to Store->Check for Available Downloads, I get nothing, and under my Purchased Songs, I don't see the little cloud button to download it. Am I missing something?

Nevermind. I was looking in the wrong place. Found it in the store under purchases.

Playlists and purchased songs lost from new iTunes download

I've just downloaded the latest version of iTunes onto my laptop. I've now noticed that all of my playlists are missing, and most of the songs that I've purchased from iTunes in the last 6 months or so are also missing from iTunes. Although when I go to download them from the iTunes store it recognises that I have previously purchased them and I can download them again for free (although there are a lot of songs missing and I'm not entirely sure which ones are gone).
I still have all of the songs and playlists on my iPod, is there a way of getting them back onto my iTunes?
Any help would be much appreciated.

It sounds like you are wanting to download your previous iTunes purchases. They are available for re download free of charge from the Cloud. Here is an article to help you get them re downloaded:

I appreciate your response but not sure now if it could have been anything in that answer because.......
This problem appears to have gone away, not sure why but I have a possible theory. This is only a theory on my part as I'm not knowledgeable on the inner workings of Firefox. When I installed Firefox 18 it had all the automatic updating options turned on by default. By the time I turned them all off, I'm assuming it had started to download updates for all the plugins and addons, like java, quicktime etc. etc. etc. even though I hadn't personally initiated those downloads and updates. My theory is that once those downloads had started, even though I had turned off the automatic updating, it was going to continue downloading the updates that had started and was not going to stop until it had done so.
I do not disable the anti-phishing and evil website detection stuff but I seriously doubt the updating for those items would have consisted of 89 megabytes of data but I could be wrong.
So for now, I'll close this out and mark it solved and continue to monitor to see if I have any more "weirdness" go on.

If you set up an Apple ID already and didn't enter credit card details because you were planning on using gift cards only, you probably set up the account incorrectly. If this is the case, you will have to enter the credit card details even if you want to use only gift cards and download free content only. Yoy will not have to use the card, but you can't use the ID without entering the card details now. You may be able to remove the card as well after the card is verified for use by Apple by editing your account details.
There is a very specific manner in which you have to set up an ID without using a credit card. You can read about it here.

If you decide to create a new ID now, you will new another email address as wel, because the email address that you are currently using will already be associated with the ID that you just set up.
I am making certain assumptions here and reading between the lines of your post, so if I am guessing incorrectly, post back with more details.

Purchased Song and Video Will not Download..

Can someone please help me. I purchased a song yesterday and it hasn't even downloaded a tenth of it. It keeps trying but doesn't ever get any further. I am not getting any error messages either. I also have a video waiting to be downloaded after the song. I have tried to repair Itunes and I have uninstalled and reinstalled and nothing has helped. I have Windows XP Professional (I believe) and am using DSL connection.

In iTunes, got to the Advanced menu>Check for purchases.

I'm just trying to find my purchased music. I had 344 songs on Monday; and last night there were 330. I tried to transfer the missing music only like Amy Winehouse; but the system said the music was there. It's under purchased history, but not on my computer.

There seems to an issue with the current build of iTunes not indexing the Music playlist correctly. Download the current iTunes Free Single of the Week. I know it sounds odd, but it should fix the problem. If that doesn't work close iTunes and delete the hidden file sentinel from inside the main iTunes folder, then start iTunes again. It should run a consistency check when it starts up which might resolve the issue.

My purchased songs no longer available to download

Recently I had to wipe my laptop of a bunch of files, including my music. When I went to re-download all of my purchased music, it wasn't there. I checked the albums to make sure that they were still being sold (they were), and then I downloaded the single of the week to see if that would turn up (it did). All my other content is available too, like my movies and books, but I really want my music back. Help?

Copy them from the other user account you were logged in with to your own account. Or if you are using iTunes 10.3 or later and live in the use, redownload them via iCloud beta. See this article for more information.

Purchased songs downloading to the wrong drive & folder

I have another issue... I store all my music on an external hard drive. But When I purchase songs from iTunes Store, they download to a local drive. It's a My Music Folder and has Itunes and Itunes Library in it, but it's not where my music is supposed to go. How do I tell it to download to the external drive?
In Edit/Preferences/Advanced I have it set to look for music in my external drive.

Are you booting up the EHD prior to purchasing from the store? If the EHD is not booted up prior to doing anything in iTunes including purchasing the drive location for the iTunes music folder will revert back to the main drive.

I just accidentally wiped out my entire music library. How can I get apple to help me download the purchased songs again? The songs went to my recycle bin and I immediately restored them but the files seem to have dissappered!

HT1491 I can't get all my purchased songs to download into my itunes library. I tried to download "ALL" and only 44 songs out of 986 downloaded.

I have not been successful in downloading all of my purchased songs. I uesd the "download ALL" in the bottom right corner and it shows they have been downloaded, however, when I check certain songs I find I am still missing several dowloads. Any suggestions ? when I tried to download them a second time it won't allow it.

What happened to them? They can't just disappear? Have you changed computers or re-loaded the OS since the last time you synced? Do you have a backup of your computer from when they were present in iTunes? Were they ever present in iTunes?

How do I re-download a purchased song which apparently completed, but download only contains 3+ minutes of song which is over 4??

Depending upon what country that you are in then try deleting the song from your iTunes library and then redownload it via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes. If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link.
