Purchased songs don't always appear in library...

Is anyone else having this problem with iTunes 11?  On a couple of occasions I've purchased a song, seen it download, but then can't find it in my library (which I have sorted by date added).  To get the song to download I have to go back to the store, try to purchase it again, and then select the "redownload for free" option.  However, you're not always given that option - sometimes it just says you've already purchased the song, do you want to purchase it again.
Weirdly the songs do not show up in the all purchased music section of the store, so no way to download from there...  This is definitely an iTunes 11 issue as it's never happened before.

The download.m4a files do not appear to have any ID3 information stored in them, and I suspect this may be the issue with importing them into iTunes.  Importing the file just results in a track titled "download" that has no associated metadata.
For some reason iTunes isn't getting the signal to stamp the files with the ID3 information (it seems the information is sent by the server and stamped locally by the application, which includes the purchaser metadata).  Presumptively, it then is supposed to import the now-stamped m4a file into iTunes and deleted the tmp directory.
Partial work-around: for those of you with iTunes Match, updating your library from Store:Update iTunes Match seems to allow you to (attempt to) redownload the files - I seem to have success purchasing-and-actually-importing tracks about 50% of the time.  It's quite frustrating to have to do this every time you purchase something, however... And of course, this leaves non-Matchers without a solution.

  • New Folio Issues don't always appear to users ( uninstall required )

I've been getting feedback that iPhone folios don't always appear to users when published publicly...i.e. I publish the latest issue and it appears for many users in the folio library, however some (even though they have an internet connection) do not see the new folio as available.
This has been solved by the user uninstallng and re-installing the app, however that's not an obvious course of action and most users miss available content.
Anyone else have insight into what could be the problem here?
I'm publishing v26 folios through a v26 app, and also I'm not sure this problem is isolated to iPhone.

    I have the same problem!
I hope someone can help and find a solution...

  • Purchased songs but they wont appear in my library

  • My purchased songs don't show up on my iPod

I have one of the first generation iPod Touch.  I've purchased songs and they show up on my music in iTunes but even after synching they don't show up on my device.  Can't figure out how to get them there.  Any ideas?  Since Apple change the version of iTunes I can't figure out how to synch after i buy something so usually end up disconnecting my device, reattaching to my computer and then it synchs.  Apple support have been absolutely of no assistance.

Automatic syncing is controlled (set up by the user) using the iPod's Music tab.  Select the iPod in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right (near the top), there is a row of "tabs" (they look like buttons in the latest iTunes), that starts with Summary.  Click on Music there.
Make sure Sync Music is checked.  Below that, you tell iTunes how you want your iPod synced with music.  If your entire iTunes music library will fit on the iPod, you can select Entire music library.  Then, any change to your library (such as purchasing new songs from the iTunes Store) should automatically sync to the iPod.
Otherwise, if the entire library will not fit or you don't want to fill up the iPod with only songs, you need to set up syncing based on Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Below that setting, set up the rest of the Music tab to tell iTunes what playlists, artists, albums, or genres to sync.  Only the songs included in your selection will sync to the iPod, so if you purchased new songs, they will not sync to the iPod unless thay are included in the selection on the Music tab.
One easy way to set it up is to create a new playlist in iTunes, and call it something like "iPod songs."  From your music library, add ALL the songs you want on the iPod to this playlist (including those new songs).  On the iPod's Music tab, select this playlist for syncing.  Going forward, any change you make to this playlist (adding or removing songs) will sync to the iPod automatically when it is connected and you tell it to Sync.
You can also set up the other tabs, such as Movies and Podcasts (and Apps for an iPod touch), to set up syncing for those other categories of media.  Just make sure the total size of the selection is less than the capacity of the iPod (shown on the "bar" near the bottom).
All of the above has not changed for the latest version if iTunes.  It works the same as before...

  • Why are my purchased songs not showing up in my library?

I recently updated iTunes, but now it shows that I only have 1 song in my Library, while everything else I ever purchased isn't showing up in my Library. They show up under Purchased but not in my Library. Help please?

I purchased a track, it appears on my iphone 5s okay but isn't anywhere on my itunes. there isn't anything in Purchsed under iStore.
I had my iphone plugged in when I purchsed the track, so should have been on both iphone and itunes, much like purchasing an app.
    Any ideas?
have IOS 7.1 loaded, is this a known issue (to us not apple)?

  • Purchased songs list isn't appearing

Don't know how it happened, but I'll explain.
I purchased some musics last month and they are not appearing in the purchase list. It happens in iTunes and in iPad. I tried to log out then log in again, tried to restart my PC and iPad but nothing worked. When I try to restore by "buying" again, a message appears saying I need to go the purchased list, but there's nothing there (iTunes). When I try to do the same on iPad, it's like I can't touch the 'buy' button.
    What should I do?

Are you sure the songs you are looking for were purchased with the Apple ID you are checking for purchased songs?  As far as I know there is no way to updat the purchased list.  If you're checking the right ID and the songs aren't listed, try contacting iTunes store support for help: http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html.

  • Songs don't show up in Library after a drag and drop

I want to put some music on my daughters networked imac.
( right now we have her music 'shared' across the network) I want her to have more control of her music so she can make playlists etc (she is getting a nano unbeknownst to her )
When I drop mp3 files into her iTunes folder they don't show in her library.
Am I going about this the wrong way??

Now I see the problem. I did not read your first post thoroughly enough.
You already wrote they show up in the iTunes folder.
iTunes doesn't recognize songs that are added this way.
The most convenient way would be to copy the files to a folder on the desktop and after you're done, to drop that folder on the Library icon or the Library in iTunes.
If 'Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library' in Preferences>Advanced>General is checked, iTunes will copy those files to the proper place.
Afterwards you can trash the contents of the folder on the desktop.

  • I need help deleting songs from my new iphone.  The songs don't show up in library, they're unchecked and I've synced only the checked songs, but they're still on my brand new phone.  I've swiped my finger to the left, and that doesn't work.

They have the icloud symbol beside them.  Does that make a difference?

    Hello Jensones,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with music on your iPhone 5s.  It sounds like you're seeing your iTunes in the Cloud purchases.
The items you see with the iCloud icon next to them are purchased songs that you can stream from iTunes in the Cloud and do not have a delete option because they are not actually on your device.  You can hide all these songs in Settings on the iPhone:
Just show music that’s been downloaded from iCloud: Go to Settings > Music, then turn off Show All Music.
These steps are from the iPhone User Guide:
    iPhone User Guide
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/#/iph6e2dfb83
If there are just specific songs you would like to hide, you can hide them using the iTunes Store on your computer:
    To hide your purchases
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
From the Store menu, choose Store > Sign In, and then enter your Apple ID and password.
    Go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased from the Quick Links section on the right side of the iTunes Store.
Choose a content type by clicking on Music, TV Shows, Apps, or Books from top.
Hover your cursor over the item you want to hide.
You will see an "X" either to the right or left top corner of the item.
Click the "X" to hide that item. A confirmation dialog will appear once you click the "X."
Once you hide the songs on your computer, I recommend quitting and relaunching the Music app on your iPhone.  You can find more information about hiding purchases here:

  • HT1386 how can i get all of my music transferred to my iphone? only itunes purchased songs will transfer, not my whole library.

How can i transfer my itunes music library to my iphone? currently it will only transfer itunes purchased songs and not my whole library.

For non-purchased music like CD rip music, or website downloaded songs, you need some third party software to copy the music from iPod to mac. If you need details, here is a guide about how to get music from iPod to macbook. Hope it helps.

  • Recovered purchased songs don't go into purchased playlist

I dutifully used iTunes to backup my purchased songs. Worked like a charm and was able to recover them no problem. Well, one small problem. They came back into the general library but did not go into the Purchased playlist.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
    T.

I just created a regular playlist titled: -purchased old. Then I sorted by type to get all of the protected songs in a group and dragged them to the playlist. Another option would be to use a smartlist that constantly pulls purchased songs in by type (I think that's an option).

  • HT1491 I can't get all my purchased songs to download into my itunes library.  I tried to download "ALL" and only 44 songs out of 986 downloaded.

I have not been successful  in downloading all of my purchased songs.  I uesd the "download ALL" in the bottom right corner and it shows they have been downloaded, however, when I check certain songs I find I am still missing several dowloads.  Any suggestions ?  when I tried to download them a second time it won't allow it.

What happened to them? They can't just disappear? Have you changed computers or re-loaded the OS since the last time you synced? Do you have a backup of your computer from when they were present in iTunes? Were they ever present in iTunes?

It is probably not wise to leave your e-mail and phone number on a public forum.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Use your backup copy to put everything back.
    You purchase one download only.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

  • Font Book: Installed postscript Fonts don't always appear in Font Book list

    Greetings,
I was helping a user the other day with Font Book. I was showing him how to add/enable fonts into Font Book when I noticed a problem I had never seen before. Before I get started, the fonts in question are from the Adobe 7 Font Folio library. There were newly installed by me from the original disk, and known not to be corrupt. I also know that that Postscript fonts are an accepted font format in Tiger.
That said, when adding.installing a particular font using Font Book, it would not "Appear" in the Font Book" list of fonts. I would attemp to, again add/enable the font (by selecting it from the Adobe Library) and still it would not appear in the Font Book list with the other installed fonts. This would happen to any font that I tried to install. Once this happenend to a specific font, I could no longer get that specific font to install.
I removed the Font Book .plist - no luck. I also rebooted - no luck.
Obviously, no application was able to recognize any of the fonts that would not install.
It was as if Font Book would not recognize any font that I was trying to add/enable.
Could this be a corrupted cache issue, or .plist problem? Could this be a permissions related issue? What did work finally was to add the font to the "Computer" set, where it would be avaialbe to all users. But I could not get the font to install into the "User" set. Weird.
Also, What is the significance of these four fonts:
    HelveLTMM
    Helvetica LT MM
    Times LT MM
    TimesLTMM
These fonts above are part of the default package that is loaded into the /System/Library/Fonts
Is it safe to replace these with Postscript version from my Adobe 7 Font Folio collection?
I have read most of the font related tutorials and articals.
    thanks,

    where did
you get the information about pre-92 Adobe postscript
    fonts being uncompatible?
Oh, sure, it's hard enough for me to remember things these days and now you want me to remember where I learned them from?? geez... [gone lookin' ... okay, back] It was, as I vaguely recalled, on the Adobe site, re troubleshooting in OS X, in a list of "do this to solve your problems": "Make sure that you are using the latest version of the font... If the font's creation date is prior to 1992, a new version of the font may be available." The only Type 1's that have given me any problems were, all three of them, older than 92, and in troubleshooting something here a few weeks ago, that turned out to be a problem for someone else, too.
But all of the Tiger font
research that I have done suggests that Adobe
    Postscript fonts were acceptable.
Yes, well... Type 1's are supported. It seems that some older ones are a little funky (not in a design sense....)
Ideally, what fonts can be removed from Tiger from
the System/Libray/Fonts folder? I know that all four
of the MM's (Helvetica LTand Times LT), Lucida
Grande, Geneva, Keyboard, Last Resort, and Monoco
must stay, but what about the others?
You also need a real Helvetica - that is, not the MM version. You can replace the system's Helvetica with one of your own, but there must be an available Helvetica around at all times.
Then there's AquaKana (two of them, regular and bold). They're not on Apple's official "do not remove" list, but there's some anecdotal evidence of its being needed. It's "real" name begins with a period, so it doesn't appear in any menu, so it's not going to hurt anything if you leave it there.
In stripping down nonessential fonts, lots of people just remove everything from the Library/Fonts folder, but I think it's good to leave the basic most common web fonts available: Comic Sans, Georgia, Trebuchet, Verdana, Times New Roman. This keeps web pages looking the way they're supposed to - and they shouldn't conflict with anything that's being really designed!
This is assuming that the fonts
being used are not damaged and "Pass" Font Book's
    validation test.
The assumption within that assumption is false: Font Book's validation is pretty iffy. I think the only reason we don't see it as REALLY iffy is because fonts, on the whole, are pretty solid in OS X (your current experience to the contrary). I've installed fonts (properly) that flew through the automatic-on-install validation but failed when I used the Validate Font command afterwards. I've had fonts that pass both the on-install and specific after-install validation but get a Bad Font warning dialog when being re-enabled after a disabling. (And I didn't use the font in between... ) Who knew Font Book did any validating when you re-enable fonts??
This is what I would do:
    (Not necessarily in this order)
    1. Trash Font Book .plist
    2. Trash all Font Cache's from all three libraries
    (System, Computer, and User folders)
    3. Reboot
    4. Delete problem fonts from User and Computer
Libraries and reinstall using Font Book.
Please tell me if this strategy is ill-advised, and
what the better course of action might be.
None of it is ill-advised. I would add starting up in Safe Mode to see if the problems exist there as part of the narrow-down-the-problem stage. Same goes for setting up a separate user account and see how things are behaving there. (Yikes... did you try that yet??)
In addition, there are some special things to do when it's Office apps having the problem, or something going on with Adobe's application fonts folder...
Also, Zaph Dingbats is acting up as well. I removed
the .dfont version that was in the system folder, and
replaced it with the Adobe Font Folio Postscript
version (ITC Zaph Dingbats) that I loaded into Font
Book User/Library/Fonts folder. Now that I think
about it, that specific font has been around for
along time, and may very well be pre-1992. Hmmm...
Can you further define "acting up" ? In addition to the ZD dfont from the system, I've been using/testing ITC ZD from Adobe with no problems. It's version 2.0 with copyright dates of 1985 through 1987.
A lot to respond to. My apologies.
No problem. You caught me on a night when I'm too tired for real work but not so far gone I can't do this (tho I'm soon on my way, bleary-eyed, to get a fix of Sudoku puzzles).

  • How to download "purchased" songs that are not in my library

I pre ordered an album the other day on my Iphone via the itunes store, when it became available to download i was sent an e-mail. Went into the Itunes store to download it, as it had not downloaded automatically (usually does) all the songs in the album say "purchased" but are not in my library, there is not option to download from the cloud, or redownload? so i plugged my phone into my computer and tried to download it via the itunes, itunes store, this also said the same thing?!
