Purchased songs download to wrong location

When I purchase songs from iTunes (Windows), the songs are placed in "C:\Users\User\Music" despite my preferences in iTunes indicating the locaiton of "C:\Users\User\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media".  But, even more frustrating is the song in the library is pointing to the iTunes folder.  Therefore, after downloading a song...iTunes can not find it.  What can I do to fix this?

Are you booting up the EHD prior to purchasing from the store? If the EHD is not booted up prior to doing anything in iTunes including purchasing the drive location for the iTunes music folder will revert back to the main drive.

  • Purchased songs downloading to the wrong drive & folder

I have another issue... I store all my music on an external hard drive. But When I purchase songs from iTunes Store, they download to a local drive. It's a My Music Folder and has Itunes and Itunes Library in it, but it's not where my music is supposed to go. How do I tell it to download to the external drive?
In Edit/Preferences/Advanced I have it set to look for music in my external drive.

  • HT201272 Can't get all purchased songs downloaded from i-tunes store to my new I5 phone

Can't get all purchased songs dowloaded from i-tunes store to my new 5phone

You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option which is revealed in the iTunes app on your iOS device by tapping the more button at the bottom of the screen.

  • Want to purchase song downloads in bulk and give them away as incentives.

I am looking to buy a bulk amount (200) of song downloads to be used as incentives for individuals participating in an online survey.  I would like to be able to purchase them all at once and send them out individually as people complete the survey.  Does anyone have any experience with this or know if there is a iTunes sales department I can contact?  Thanks

You can get Mifi devices (the iPad connects to it via wifi and they then give access to 3G networks). I've never used one and I don't know if they are available in Canada (and if so how much they would cost). If you have an iPhone then you could also use that as a mobile hotspot

  • Itunes purchased song could not be located because original file missing

I got a new Air and downloaded several songs from the Itunes store, but after I imported my library from my old G4 it no longer can play the new songs. The error message says, "The song 'blank' could not be located because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" When I select yes, it sends me to a window with the documents folder selected. Of course the song is not there.
I have the new songs on my ipod nano, is there any way to get them back from there? Or perhaps another way? Help.

    Hey there!
Thanks also by replying... It seems that my library is back to normal now... But as soon as it starts asking for original file locations, I'll try that what you told me!
Merci and have a good day!

  • Thunderbird keeps downloading to wrong location

I`m working in windows 7 professional 64 bit with a Gmail account
I`ve set the location for the mail on my E disk rather then my C disk. (E:\Thunderbird)
Nevertheless thunderbird keeps downloading to C:\Users\T\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird.
Somehow my emailsignature doesn`t come through, my contact favorites have gone, as are the dictionarries and the agenda.
I would like to be sure all the links are set correctly and no mail gets lost.
    Thank you.

I had the intention to move to whole lot but did not see or overlooked the part about moving the profiles to the same location.
    I`ve done this now.
The favourite contacts and dictionarries are still missing but this a very minor issue.

  • Purchased songs downloaded direct to iPhone to PC?

    Hi all,
Sorry if this has been posted many times before, I had a look through the forum and couldnt see an immediate answer.
I have purchased through the itunes store on my iPhone a few albums. They download direct to the phone.
Is there any way I can transfer the purchased items onto my main itunes library on the pc?
    Thanks
    Mark

Forget it, did a proper search this time and found my answer.
    Thanks

  • Imported songs go to wrong location

I have changed the location of my iTunes library to an external hard drive plugged into my Airport Extreme. If I rip a CD the files end up in the correct location. However if I import a bunch of pre-ripped files via the file menu they get put into the ~/music/iTunes folder on my computer. Am I missing something?
    Macbook Pro 2.16GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Long shot but try this.
Go to Previous Import in Grid Mode
    Select all [CMD][A]
Go to All Photographs (Previous import files should remain selected)
Set the sort order in the Tool bar to Added Order  (Z to A)
Your previous import should be the large block of selected items at the top.
Scroll to the last selected item and the Previous to the Previous import should be the next file.
Select it and hold down your shift key and down arrow until you reach the end of your Wordpress files
The hard part is knowing how far to go to select the files from there.  Hopefully there is an obvious break that will clue you in.

If you have been using the mac.com Apple ID to make iTunes purchases recently, then there should be no issues continuing to use it with the new iPhone. I would abandon the new ID as you will never get Apple to merge the two IDs. I have had a mac.com ID for years and continue to use it with my iPhone 4S.

  • Itunes can't locate purchased songs even after re-downloaded from itunes

    Hello,
I had lost some of my data and with the help of this forum I was able to find my purchase history and re-download 580 songs to my computer but when I go to itunes alot of the items I just downloaded are not located by itunes? Did I miss something? Please help.
    Thank You.

I just bought an iMac and am having trouble getting my iTunes transferred over from my PC. Is there a faster way than transferring the songs to my external hard drive, then to the Mac? Also when I signed in as myself to iTunes on the Mac, I bought a couple of songs from iTunes and now it won't allow me to play them. It asks me to authorize the computer and then says it was successful. But then it goes through the same thing motions each time on the same song. I can't play them at all and I bought them on the Mac TODAY! I have only had one iTunes account, so that isn't the issue...any idea what I can do? Is this going to happen with all of my songs? Also it says I authorized 3 other computers to use my iTunes but I have no idea aside from my PC how that occured and how to undo it. Any help would be appreciated....

  • HT1848 I can see the songs that I purchased and it says downloaded but the songs can't be located on ITunes on my desktop.

My hard drive crashed and I moved my I Tunes library back from Carbonite but there are songs / albums that are missing!  Lots of Exclamation points!
Anyway, I can see the songs and albums on my purchased list in the ITunes store page.  They all say they are "downloaded" but ITunes on my computer can't find the songs.
I looked on my hard drive and the are not on the hard drive.  How can I Re-Download to put these purchased songs back on my new hard drive?  The songs are on my I Phone but I don't want to sync since it will strip them out of my phone too.
    Thanks!

Try authorizing the computer. Launch iTunes. From the iTunes menu bar click Store > Authorize This Computer

  • I downloaded an album from iTunes and some of the songs downloaded but others didn't there was an error message 8003 Unknown error occurred. While I downloaded the album to my phone, it wouldn't download to my mac, what am I doing wrong???

I purchased an album on ITunes store, while the items downloaded to my phone, it didn't download to my mac. Some of the songs downloaded but not the majority, when I try to download the songs, it gives me an error 8003 Unknown error occured. What am I doing wrong? If I can't download this album, how do I get a credit??

    Hello mercdw,
Once the music has been downloaded to your iPhone, you can transfer purchases from your device to iTunes.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
Alternatively, the following article provides further information regarding this error and steps that can help resolve the issue.
    "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023"
These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while accessing iTunes Store:
See iTunes 9: "One Moment Please" or "Error (-50)" message when accessing iTunes Store
If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
    Mac OS X:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads   Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
    Windows Vista:
  \Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    Windows 7:
  \Users\username\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    Windows XP:
  \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
After locating your iTunes Downloads folder:
    Quit iTunes.
Delete the Downloads folder on your computer.
    Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Enter your account name and password.
If you encounter this issue while while downloading Digital Copies using Windows:
Use MSCONFIG (directions for Windows XP and Windows Vista/Windows 7) to disable conflicting software.
If using MSCONFIG steps resolves the issue, you may want to use the System Configuration Utility to turn on the third-party System Services and Startup Items one at a time (restarting your computer after turning on the item or items) to identify which System Service or Startup Item is causing the conflict.
You can turn all of them back on by selecting the Normal Startup option under the General tab of the System Configuration Utility window, but please note that this may cause the issue to reoccur.
If you are able to isolate the issue to a particular third-party software, you may wish to contact them to let them know of the conflict.

  • Re-Downloading already purchased songs

I recently had to wipe our computer due to corrupted files. I was under the impression that I saved all of the music that we had purchased and downloaded from itunes, however when I went back to retrieve it I could not find its location. Is there any way to re-download our already purchased songs onto our computer again since we have already paid for them?
    HELP!

Hello, MamaBex, and welcome to the Discussions.
Sorry, but officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased items other than iPhone/iPod touch applications. It's your responsibility to make backup copies in case something goes wrong with your system, as unfortunately it apparently did in your case, and you lose all the information on your hard drive. The official statement of their policy can be found here, among other places. If your hard drive was erased and you don't have a backup of your purchased items, and don't have them on an iPod, you're probably out of luck and will need to repurchase your tracks.
If you have your tracks on an iPod or have them backed up (on CDs/DVDs, on an external hard drive, or some other external medium), post back and someone here can help you get them restored. Otherwise you can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service (select the category and subcategory closest to the issue you're reporting) and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis. But don't count on it.
    Good luck.
