Purchased songs downloading to the wrong drive & folder

I have another issue... I store all my music on an external hard drive. But When I purchase songs from iTunes Store, they download to a local drive. It's a My Music Folder and has Itunes and Itunes Library in it, but it's not where my music is supposed to go. How do I tell it to download to the external drive?
In Edit/Preferences/Advanced I have it set to look for music in my external drive.

Are you booting up the EHD prior to purchasing from the store? If the EHD is not booted up prior to doing anything in iTunes including purchasing the drive location for the iTunes music folder will revert back to the main drive.

  • The dmg files have downloaded to the wrong folder - not finished with the install process

The dmg files have downloaded to the wrong folder - I am at the part of the download/install process where the "Welcome" screen appears asking for me to agree to the license agreement.  Somewhere on your site, I read that they should NOT go to the applications folder but to the "Users" folder. Can/should I move/drag the folder with the dmg files into the "Users" folder"? If so, before or after I complete the install? I am running MAC OSX 10.7.4 on a MAC Mini.
Also, when the trial period is over, I will use the license number for the purchased software disks, should the dmg's/folders then be moved to the application folder or stay in the "users" section? I have Purvhased Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and Adobe Premiere Elements 10, but somewhere on your site it was suggested to download them instead and use the license code at the appropiate time. If someone can help with these questions, I would appreciate it. Thank you

    Hi,
In the Welcome screen, you can accept the license agreement and can go ahead with the installation. You will be asked for the serial number. If you don't have one, install it as a trial application. By default, it's installed in the Applications folder. However, you can change the installation folder in the third screen, if you have a reason. Please see the screenshot below:
After installing, you can't move application to a different directory by dragging. You need to uninstall and install it again in the folder of your choice.
    Thanks,
    Sunil

  • My Mavericks upgrade crashed my hard drive and I had to reinstall Mountain Lion.  Now I cannot get any of the apps that I purchased to download.  The icons on the launchpad just say "waiting" no matter what I try.

My Mavericks upgrade crashed my hard drive and I had to reinstall Mountain Lion.  Now I cannot get any of the apps that I purchased to download.  The icons on the launchpad just say "waiting" no matter what I try.  My app store ID is fine.  What do I do?

Are you now using a different username from the one you used prior to migrating? If so that is the reason for the problem. You might, then, give this a try:
    To fix Home folder permissions
Open the Terminal application in the Utilities folder.  At the command line prompt enter or paste the following command line:
    sudo chown -R `id -un`:`id -gn` ~
Press RETURN.  You will be prompted to enter your admin password which will not be echoed.

  • Music downloads to the wrong folder

    Hi.
I'm running Mountain Lion on my MacBook Pro and understand that music, movies, TV shows, etc., should download to their respective folders within the 'iTunes Media" folder, which is located here: User --> Music --> iTunes --> iTunes Media.
My problem is that, while movies, TV shows, mobile apps and ringtones download properly, music that I either download from the iTunes Store or rip from CDs download directly into the iTunes Media folder, rather than the iTunes Media --> Music folder.  Also, there is now a new "Compilations" folder in the iTunes Media folder (in addition to the one listed alphabetically in the iTunes Media --> Music folder).
I'd appreciate any ideas about how to resolve this so my music downloads to the proper locations and remains organized.  Thanks for your help.
    Shelly

    Hi,
Was there ever a resolution to this issue, I'm experiencing the same problem?
I'm an iTunes Match user, and when I...
    - Rip a CD
    - Run iTunes Match
    - Delete the imported CD tracks
    - Download the tracks from iTunes
Sometimes they download to the correct album folder in 'Music' however other times they download to the 'Media' folder - it can even be the case that some download to 'Music' and others to 'Media' for the same album.
Seems to have only started recently
    Any ideas?
    Regards

  • Is it possible to see the iCloud Drive folder from my iPhone?

    Hello,
Is it possible to see the iCloud drive folder on iOS 8 just as it is in iCloud and my Mac?
Lets say something like the following:
    ios-8-icloud-drive.png

Well you can consider this as well:
Considering or moving right now to iCloud Drive? Please check the following facts to avoid my terrible experience:
First of all it is not as easy as Apple Says: "Store your files in iCloud and access all them anytime on all your devices" - Lies.
    1) There is no standalone app for iCloud drive on iOS so you will not be able to access all your files from your iDevices only the ones you created with iWork.
    2) Even if you upgrade your space to 1 or 2 TB you will have storage limitation because you can upload what you Mac can storage, in a few words it is a mirror not an online hards disk.
    3) NO photos nor  videos in  iCloud, it doesn't matter how space you get you will not have access to them on the web, and not date has been confirmed for this promised feature.
    4) You will get many dumb folders in the iCloud drive even dumb iWork copies of your documents.
    5) Many unexpected errors will be waiting for your data, like the one I got when all my local copies of all my files ( any type) just disappeared and got a simple icon with the message Not Downloaded like if there were not before in the Mac. Apple open a ticket for this issue after many hours int he phone.
    6) Apple support is not well trained to handle issues related to the new services like this, you can call and ask simple questions and will be on hold a lot of time to while they figure out what to tell you. Try it.
    7) At the end you will cancel the service and go back to your previos cloud service ( just like me with Dropbox) and uploading all your files to it.
    8) If need more reasons just let me know and I will give you more to convince you that iCloud Drive will "drive you mad".

  • "Add a Printer" can't locate my printer software even though it has been downloaded to the hard drive. How can I guide it to the software?

"Add a Printer" can't locate my printer software even though it has been downloaded to the hard drive. How can I guide it to the software?

What did you download and from where?  Most downloads go to your Home/User/Downloads folder unless you've specified a different location in your browser.
If you downloaded the drivers from the App Store the drivers will be installed automatically and all you need to do is go to the System/Printers & Scanners preference pane as described below.
You will have to install the drivers after downloading the installer package.  Lastly go to the System/Printers & Scanners preference pane and add the printer there.  It will automatically locate the drivers and set it up.

  • The iCloud Drive folder in Library/Mobile Documents is taking up way too much space on my startup disk.

The iCloud Drive folder in Library/Mobile Documents is taking up way too much space on my startup disk
I was hoping my files would stay in the cloud and not take up a ton of space on my machine (only a 128gb SSD).  But while performing an overnight time machine backup I came back to find a "Startup Disk Full" error message.  I only have about 20gb used locally but over 200gb in iCloud Drive at the moment.
Is there a way to clear the cache so my files stay on iCloud and not hogging space on my SSD? Or a way to redirect this library to my 2nd hard drive?
I'm using a 15" mid-2012 Macbook Pro with a 1TB hard drive and I've replaced the optical drive with a 128gb SSD for my OS (which is where my library is, hence the difficulty).
    Thank you!

While puttering around after posting this I think I found my personal solution here: http://macs.about.com/od/diyguidesprojects/qt/Move-Your-Home-Folder-To-A-New-Loc ation.htm
I'm just going to move my home folder to my 2nd internal 1TB hard drive to solve my problem.
But my question remains, how can we minimize the amount of local space iCloud Drive ***** up?  I wanted to get the rumored new macbook air that might come out next year but this is a big turn off if iCloud drive is going to overwhelm the SSD in the AIr.

  • Purchased songs download to wrong location

When I purchase songs from iTunes (Windows), the songs are placed in "C:\Users\User\Music" despite my preferences in iTunes indicating the locaiton of "C:\Users\User\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media".  But, even more frustrating is the song in the library is pointing to the iTunes folder.  Therefore, after downloading a song...iTunes can not find it.  What can I do to fix this?

  • Podcasts are downloaded to the wrong folder

I've moved my library to a network drive (Y:). However, new podcasts are still being downloaded to My Documents/My Music/iTunes/Podcasts
The Media folder location has been changed to Y:\Shared Music in the preferences, and there doesn't appear to be a separate option for a podcast folder, so why is it downloading to the default location instead of where I've told it to?

i am also having the same problems where iTunes has its own automatically assigned folder for it to store its completed podcast downloads, which on my PC it has chosen this C:\Users\chris\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Podcasts as its location for them to be stored at.
however, i dont like this and i would like 2 change my preferences on where the podcasts would b downloaded and then afta completion, they would be automatically be moved straight to the drive and folder location due to my own choosing so i know where my completed podcast which i had jus downloaded, would be in a specifically desegnated LABLED folder which is located on another drive thats available to use, and not to have it anywhere on my main PC's HD for Windows 7, which is its C: drive.
i hope u may b able 2 help me out with an answer shortly.
    kind regards,
    chris

  • I just accidentally wiped out my entire music library.  How can I get apple to help me download the purchased songs again?  The songs went to my recycle bin and I immediately restored them but the files seem to have dissappered!

I just accidentally wiped out my entire music library.  I sent everything to recycling bin and then immediately hit restore all items as I knew what I had just done.  Now I can find where those files went.  Is there anyway Apple can just send me my purchased songs again?

  • Purchased songs from iTunes into wrong library, now they are gone.

I purchased a dozen songs from iTunes today and when I went to sync my iPod, I realized that I had the wrong library open. On the computer, I have two different log-ins for Windows. My old log-in is associated with my current iTunes library, but I forgot and used the other log-in. When I opened i-Tunes, it defaulted to an empty library (which I didn't notice) and I went to the store to make my purchases.
So, I canceled the sync so that I don't lose the songs already on the iPod, then try and figure out how I can get my new songs into the other library. When I exited out of iTunes, then went back into it, all the songs I had just bought disappeared. The only thing in that library is the computer's "sample music." When I go to my other log in and open my usual library, all my old songs are there but none of the songs I just purchased.
Any idea where those songs went and how I can recover them? When I log into my iTunes account, it lists them as recently purchased, but I can't find them anywhere on either windows account.
    Thanks for your help!

    Thanks for the response.
I just tried to do this, but it doesn't give me an option to down load the songs again. The only option I have is to buy the songs again. I definitely used the same Apple ID, and iTunes recognizes that the songs have already been purchased, but it asks if I want to purchase it again.
Is there something else I need to do in order to re-download?

  • Why is my album art downloading to the wrong music?

When I am syncing my iPhone, I am getting an error (-54) at times. I am also seeing the wrong album art downloading with the incorrect music. Whenever I use a song for my alarm, I see music that I do not have checked to be on my phone showing up and it always has the wrong album art. Please advise. Thank you so much!

The only way I was able to get the album art correct was to hook my iPod up to my laptop and then go into iPod Preferences and check the box that says hide Album art. I then updated my iPod and all my album art was wiped off my iPod. The next step is to go back into preferences for the iPod and enable album art again and the next time I updated...BINGO, all my artwork was put back correctly. It took a little work but I'm happy with it!

  • Itunes is using the wrong drive

I installed I tunes on my D drive (60 gigs) and have specified to the program at least 3 times to save on the D drive. For some reason it continues to go back to the the C drive which is only 15 gig and fill the whole thing up. how can i stop this? I have started a download of a TV series and its trying to save it to C: again.

    Take a look here:
iTunes: Moving Your iTunes Music Folder
If you have iTunes 7, then you can just drag the entire iTunes folder to your desired location. Then hold down the Shift key while launching iTunes. You'll be given a dialog box where you can select the iTunes library you want to use. Navigate to and select the iTunes folder in it's new location.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is the iPhoto library supposed to be located in the iCloud Drive folder?

    27" iMac (2011) Yosemite / iCloud Drive
Is the iphoto library / database file supposed to be in the iCloud Drive?  I expect it to normally be found in the Pictures folder under the active user.  If it is not supposed to be there how did it get moved there.  The iPhoto library is also locked and is over 200 Gigabytes in size.  (see attached image)
My theory is that someone tried to move it to the iCloud Drive, without understanding the limitation.

As long as the user has purchased adequate disk space for the iCloud Drive, they can move their photo library to it. It can be anywhere so long as one modifies iPhoto so it knows where to find it.
