Purchased songs from one computer will not play on another computer???

I have downloaded my Itunes files to my work computer, but the songs I purchased on my home computer will not play on my work computer. I get a message saying that the work computer is not authorized to play those songs. When I log in, the message says the computer is authorized...but the songs will still not play. What gives??

Hey there,
Are you using the same iTunes account from which the songs were purchased? If not, make sure you are signing into the same account and authorizing the computer under that account.
Also, I would try deauthorizing the computer and then reauthorizing it to see if that helps. Or you may try signing out of your iTunes account, quitting iTunes, and then reopening it and signing back in and then deauthorize and then reauthorize.

The itunes wont let me transfer purchased songs from one computer to the other via home sharing even though both are authorised?

Burn that songs to a *DATA DVD/CD* using iTunes - then take the resulting disk to your desktop computer; that disk will show up in iTunes' left column; drag the songs into your library.

I bought 6 songs on my laptop due to a better internet connection. I want to transfer them to my desktop computer. When I log in, it has all my old songs listed, not the one's that I bought from my laptop and my old songs together. How can I merge these songs? This has been so frustrating!!

  • I Tunes will not ley me play purchased songs from a computer that is broken, and from a previous e-mail address. I am at my wits end, as whenevr I try to authorise the computer I am using with my dead e-mail address. Any suggestions please?

i Tunes will not let me play purchased songs from a computer that is broken, and which has a previous e-mail address. I am at my wits end, as whenever I try to play the songs I receive a message to authorise the computer I am using with my dead e-mail address. I end up in a mess, changing I-Ds, etc. I have paid an IT company to sort  things out, with some success, but still I keep getting thiese messages. Surely iTunes should be less complex than this. I am not brilliant with IT, but not at all stupid. Any suggestions please?

    2. Reason : You have installed Desktop Manager using the 'Desktop Redirector' option.
Step 1: If you're not using Redirector, you should uninstall Desktop Manager and then reinstall it using the BlackBerry Internet Service option.
Step 2: On your device, go to: Options > Advanced > Service Book, and delete all service books for [Desktop]

I have thousands of songs dowloaded from my cds and purchased from itunes that will not play.  It says file cannot be found.  What happened and where are they?

When songs cannot be found, it's either because they have been moved from the original location that you told iTunes, renamed or deleted.
    So have you:
    renamed songs?
moved them to a different loaction on your computer since you imported them into itunes?
deleted them since you imported them?
stored you iTunes library on an external drive? If so, that drive needs to be on and ready every time before you start iTunes.
... or is another programme renaming or even moving them, such as Windows Media Player? (It has been known to if you let it.) Did you previously use Windows Media Player?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Well in order to keep all the ratings, playcounts ect ect of songs in iTUnes, place the songs back into there original folders/places on the "Old harddrive" by cutting (Not copying) them from the new Harddrive. Now iTunes should report the songs has being there and have ! marks beside the imported folder from your external Harddrive.
Now you will delet the dead/broken links (Or missing music from the new drive)in iTUnes. Goto Ottos site for a script that will remove dead links and other things here
Just download, unzip, and run the program.
    http://ottodestruct.com/iTunes/QuickScripts.zip
Now with everything in place and the dead links removed you will either consolidate the library or set it to copy to another Folder. If you consolidate it moves ALL your music listed in iTunes to the "iTunes Music" folder and can not be reversed. If you set it to copy, it will just copy music from its current folder to the iTunes music folder. You will have to pick the best option for you but consolidating will work best if your trying to free up space. To consolidate goto "Advanced" and select "Consolidate Library". To copy goto Edit>preferenses>Advanced tab>general sub tab and check "Copy FIles to iTunes music Folder when added to library". THis location is also where you will change the location of iTunes Music folder from your old harddrive to the new one by hitting the "Change" button above the reset button

If you are talking about your friend's iTunes password, you are not supposed to use or have his password or even his music, etc. in your computer...

  • I have a iTunes account and recently 2 of the song I have downloaded will not play, it says that it not authorised to play. How ever on the same day the other songs I downloaded that day are playing fine

I have a iTunes account and recently 2 of the song I have downloaded will not play, it says that it not authorised to play. How ever on the same day the other songs I downloaded that day are playing fine. I can't play the 2 song on my lap top and I-pod.

    Hello Jigz19,
It sounds like you are unable to play a couple of songs from your library becuase you get a message that the computer is unauthorized to play, but other content purchased that same day works without issue. I would verify that the affected songs were purchased with the same Apple ID first:
Recovering a forgotten iTunes Store account name
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1920
    Open iTunes
Highlight one of the items you have purchased (You can find your purchases in your Purchases playlist).
    Choose File > Get Info.
    Click the Summary tab.
The Account Name area will list the account used to purchase the item. Unless you have changed accounts, this is your iTunes Store account name.
If so, then delete the songs:

  • Trying to take songs from one computer to another

I am using iTunes on one computer with three ipods. My mother has a laptop and she wants to put all the songs from my computer onto hers so she can use her ipod on her laptop instead of using mine. I searched online to see how to do it and was told to plug ipod in and click on enable disk use, then I went to my computer and dragged over the artists and songs from my music to the ipod. I then plugged the cord for the ipod into my mothers laptop and dragged each artist into itunes under music. When I tried to eject her ipod it said it was in use so I just left it in. When I had plugged it in a box came up that said that the ipod could only be used on one computer so if I wanted to use it on this new computer I would have to delete it. I thought that's what I was supposed to do so I pressed delete. I went through the songs and took out ones I didn't want and then synced her ipod. I took it out and when I go to play a song that is listed under music in the library it says it can not be found. It only works when I have the ipod connected. My father wants to use the laptop as well and I don't understand what happened. Did I mess it up when I pushed delete? Should I take everything off her ipod and then redo it all on my other computer? I really don't understand. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please e-mail me at [email protected] and put something in the subject line about itunes or ipod so I won't delete it. Thanks so much

Although an iPod can be used in disk mode, it is easier to move songs from one computer to another using a USB flash drive.
When the songs are on the computer where you want them, add them to the iTunes library on that computer, and then you will be ready to sync the iPod.

  • How do I get songs from one computer to another?

I had found it once on apple support, but I'm having trouble finding it again. Can someone tell me how you get your songs from one computer to another? I'm consolidating all the songs from my wife's laptop on to mine so we can share the same library, but I don't know how to get her songs on my computer, and as a result, my iTunes.

Go to the itunes folder and copy all of the songs on to an external hard drive.  Then copy them from the hard drive to the other computer
You could also use home sharing which will send the songs over your wireless.

  • How do I transfer my checked songs from one computer to another - tried exporting library playlist etc but no luck! Please help! I have 26,000 songs - 17,000 are selected and I can't run down the list on my new computer and re-check 17,000 songs! Thanks!

Make a smart playlist of your whole library but only checked songs - #4 on  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1801
Highlight all files in that playlist, then drag to the other drive.  This isn't preserving any playlists or whatever, just copying files from one drive to another.
You might want to delete the smart playlist this once you are done because it will probably gobble up resources with that many files.

  • My old itunes id was an email that no longer can be used, therefore, I can not change the password for that account.  Everything that I purchased under that id name will not play.  How can I fix this?

My old itunes id was an email that no longer can be used, therefore, I can not change the password for that account.  Everything that I purchased under that id name will not play.  How can I fix this?

I no longer have an email address that was also my Apple ID. Can I still use the email address as my Apple ID?
Apple recommends you change your Apple ID to your current, working email address. This will not create another Apple ID, it will only change it to your working email address. See Changing the name you use for your Apple ID if you'd like more information.
Note: @mac.com and @me.com Apple IDs can not be renamed.  If you no longer use the .mac or .me email address be sure to add your valid email address as an additional email address.
