Purchased songs/new computer/new email

I just received my new computer. As I was backing up my old computer, I burned all the songs I purchased from iTunes Music Store as data files and added them to iTunes in my new computer. The problem is, most of them were bought when I still had an AOL address, and now I have a .Mac account. When I try to play a song, it says I have to authorize my new computer to play it by using the account under which I originally purchased the song -- problem is, I haven't had that account since May, so it no longer recognizes my screen name or password, and entering my .Mac account doesn't work.
Sorry for the lenghty explanation, but I can't find a solution from Apple support. Can anyone help?

Thanks, iTunes Mike. I tried what you said, and it prompts me to create a new account. But I already have an iTunes account under my new email address, so I'm still stuck with no access to these songs I purchased under my AOL account.
This is also after iTunes support deauthorized all my computers to play these songs. So now, when I click play on any one of them, I am prompted to authorize my new computer to play it. When I do so, it says that authorization was successful (that I have 1 out of 5 machines authorized to play said tune). But it fails to play, and when I click play again (after aforementioned authorization), I am again told that I'm not authorized to play the song and it must be authorized using the account information that I used to purchase it -- which was my AOL account. It doesn't accept that information because I'm no longer recognized by AOL.
There has to be a solution, but right now I'm feeling very burned.

  • If i have songs on another computer, how can i get the purchased songs on my new computer

I had Itunes on a computer of mine that will not turn on now, is there a way to get those purchased songs on my new computer?

Copy them from your backup copy of your computer.
If you failed to backup for some reason, transfer them from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases
If you are in the U,S use the newly released icloud.

    Hi..
    Launch iTunes on your Mac.
From the iTunes menu bar top of your screen click Store > Authorize This Computer
Then follow the instructions here > Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Make sure and use the same Apple ID used for the original purchases.

I have purchased a few albumbs on my computer.  The computer crashed, and I would like to add back the song purchased.  They are currently on my iPhone.  How do I get them to my new computer?

If for some reason you have failed to backup your music, not good, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:

  • New computer + New iTunes Version = No syncing of new purchases!

A few months back, my husband and I had to purchase a new computer. Once we got the computer up and running, we naturally downloaded iTunes to it so that we could purchase new music to add to both of our iPods (we each have the 30GB iPod w/ video). Previously, we had an older version of iTunes on our laptop and never had an issues downlaoding/purchasing music and importing music form CD's we own. Our iPods always updated and sync just fine.
However, since the purchase of our new computer and downloading the latest version of iTunes to that new new computer, we have nothing but problems and have been extremely disapointed. We authorized our new computer and I have tried all the listed trouble shooting suggestions and nothing works.
Mainly, we cannot play any of our songs loaded in from CD's via iTunes any longer and worst of all, if we purchase new music and/or load a new CD in, the iPods will not sync and add the new music!!! This is very frustrating!!!
The ONLY thing that has worked to get newly purchased or loaded music on to one of our iPods was to "restore" the settings. However, this erased ALL the songs that were loaded on to the iPod before getting our new computer, it erased ALL the playlists we had made, and now we only have about 145 out of the over 850 song we used to have on our iPod. At this time, we have only tried restoring one of our two iPods so that we don't loose everything from both of them!
Any suggestions as to what we can do to solve our problem would be great. I really just wish I could have my old iTunes version back that used to work great and was fun to use. The new iTunes 7.1.1 has been awful to us. :o(
P.S. I am not very "technical" when it comes to this computer stuff, so easy to follow, simple instructions are best! Sorry!!!! I am jsut really not good when things change like this after getting used to using it one way for so long! :o(

Thanks for the tip!!! I will try it out tonight when I get home and hopefully it will work! :o)
I really appreciate the help!!! Because as you can tell I am not so good at allt his technical computer stuff, I don't even know what kind of Dell I own! Hahaha!
    I only wish I could afford a Mac b/c I'd get one! :o)
    Thanks again!!!

  • Transfering playlist to new computer by email

my old laptop just crashed and i didn't get to save my playlist. but i did save my itunes receipts, that were sent to my email. how to i reload all my songs to the new laptop that i have? (my ipod is broken)

i didn't get to save my playlis
Do you mean your music? A playlist is simply a list of songs, same as if you write a list on a piece of paper. It is not the songs.
You need to have your songs on your computer or on your iPod or on your back up disk.

  • How do I transfer non-purchased songs to a new mac?

I had a mid 2009 Macbook Pro and the hard drive in the computer got damaged. I was able to back up some stuff but because this unexpectedly happen I was not able to back up my itunes library. My other apple products are synced via icloud and i wouldnt have a problem transfering the itunes songs into a new mac. the problem is that i have non-purchased songs and I dont know how to transfer them into the new mac. Does anyone know how can i transfer non-purchased content into itunes? Thanks for the help

Unless you're able to restore them from the hard drive, you'll need to either do so from a backup or reload them from the original source.

  • New computer, new Ipod. How can I get my purchases back?

I have an Ipod. I deleted all my music off it. I bought a new computer. I've logged back into Itunes but it hasn't got any of my purchases recorded. I had bought quite a lot of music, how can I get it back?
I know it'd be easy to re-authorise if i had just a new computer. But i don't have a copy of any of my music. So when I log into Itunes, it's as if I never bought the music.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Purchased songs disappear after new istall of windows

    Hi
I've got a problem with iTunes since I reinstalled windows on my system. When I open the iTunes store only 3 of all my purchased songs appear, the rest isn't listed there. My download history however is correct, but I can't listen to those songs nor can I load them on my ipod (except those 3 songs). How can I "get back" the missing songs?
    Thanks for helping

I just did a Windows re-install myself. Computer is lighting fast now! However, I experienced the same issue you describe. What I discoverd is that the "Purchased" folder is really just a playlist. All of your purchased songs should show up in the library as well.
I haven't figured out a way to add my purchased songs back to the purchased folder in bulk, but they can be added individually by drag/drop or right click/add to playlist. Because the purchased songs are mixed in with my ripped songs this is a pretty laborious process, but it works.
If you still only find the 3 songs in your library, I would suggest two other things. First right click on the purchased folder and select check for available downloads. This will ensure all of your purchased songs are on your hard drive. Second, make sure you have added the iTunes folder to your library. This is done by selecting File/Add Folder to Library. My iTunes folder is located in My Music so it came in when I added the My Music folder to my library.
    Hope this helps.

  • New computer, new itunes set up

i had to buy a new computer and put all my songs on my ipod onto my new itunes....how to do i get the songs i already purchased on itunes onto my new computer?

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and was written long before iTunes 7 and Windows Vista so it requires a little adaptation as the iPod preferences are no longer in the location described for instance but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    iGadget Windows Only
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.

As far as icloud, you just need to deleted old and sign into new.

  • New Computer = New Problems with iTunes and iPod Classic

I recently got a new computer. I was successfully able to transfer the iTunes music files from the old machine to the new. However, I had to reload my iPod from scratch. My problems are:
-- songs from playslists that aren't checked to be loaded are loading into my iPod (my son's music).
-- I'm getting multiple messages to authorize the computer for it to load purchased music (I have authorized it in the past). I get an error message when I try to authorize the computer (-44084).
--If I uncheck a play list or song, will it be removed from my iPod next time I sync? If not, how do I "erase" songs from my iPod that I dont' want anymore?

I'm getting multiple messages to authorize the computer for it to load purchased music (I have authorized it in the past). I get an error message when I try to authorize the computer (-44084).
With that one, I'd try the following document:

(Probably best to start with the user account control section with a 44084.)
