Purchased songs not authorized on computer from ipod

For some reason a pop up comes up that says this computer is not authorized to play purchased songs on ipod. And I choose the option to authorize. It says it is authorized already. After clicking ok it closes then it pops up again. I authorize it again but it keeps popping up. Not sure why since all the songs are purchased through the store.

Change the iPod's drive letter. That has helped several folks.

I know your symptom isn't in that article's list, but try it.
I assume the songs will play in itunes, correct? If you get the evil authorization loop while just trying to play songs in iTunes, there are other things to try. If they just won't go to the ipod, the drive letter change should work.

I recently got a new computer.  When I tried to sync my iPod, it said I was not authorized to transfer songs.  The iTunes store does recognize song purchases made before 6/2011.  I have over 100 songs I purchased that I can't get on my iPod.  Please help

In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.

You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

  • All purchased songs not authorized, error = -3253

    Hi,
I just purchased a full album off iTunes and it can't seem to download. It just comes up with the error message = -3253. Anyone knows what this means?
At the same time, all of my purchased songs from itunes can't play! It says that my computer is not authorized to play these songs. So, I authorize them, one by one. After all that, it still says my computer is not authorized to play the songs. I have re-authorized them twice already and I now have 3 times remaining!
I hope someone can help me out. Thanks.

  • Transfer ALL songs/videos to new computer from ipod?

i got some of the songs on my ipod from a cd... my old computer died and i sold the cd... i transfered everything i purchased from itunes from my touch to my mac, but it wouldnt transfer those songs, but they are still on my ipod.... how do i transfer them all? also, i have family guy episodes i got from itunes on my computer that wont go onto my ipod, and i have non itunes downloaded family guy that wont go onto my mac.. how do i get everything on both?

For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchased songs and in some cases, videos and games) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here (you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well):

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • Purchased song not 'Authorized'

I bought a song.  I can't play on my Macbook pro, iPad and it didn't even transer to my phone.
I get an alert of 'This computer is not authorized to play songs purchased on this account.'
I sign in to authorize and then it says that 'This computer is already authorized'.
My iMessage just got screwed up in the last week as well and I think they might be related.
Apple has made a mess of helping people with iTunes issues.  It is almost impossible to get
    help from anyone.
Any thoughts on what to do next?  Yes, I have restarted all devices and all have the latest software.

  • Why is a newly purchased song 'not authorized'?

Purchased 4 songs from wishlist, they all play properly except for one.  When I attempt to play the problem track I get the dialogue box saying 'Your computer is not authorized to play this song.'
Of course, when I enter info for authorization, I get 'This computer is already authorized for playback.'  ***?  Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks Niel!  That was easy, I should have browsed this topic a little better, answers were right there.
Anyway, I completely removed the corrupt song and clicked to re-purchase.  iTunes allowed a repeat download for free.  Success.

  • Purchased songs not authorized???

God knows that I love my music, so someone please help!!!
I was prompted to upgrade to ITunes 7.0.1 so I did. After doing so I connected my IPOD to update it and got a message that several (16 of 24) songs were not authorized to play on this machine - same machine I've used from day 1. I went in to authorize the songs (one by one) and they still won't play.
The dialogue box (to authorize) is trying to match my password with my e-mail address, and not with the Apple ID associated with my account. So I change it to my ID and it appears to accept it, but the problem just repeats when trying to play it. This is all new since upgrading.
Anybody know what happened and how to fix it? I can't play some of my favorite songs. Ouch!!

Oh, I authorized one song and now they are all
authorizing and seem to be fine. Phew.
Well Sandy, I feel dumb. Mine was simply that I had evidently registered originally with my e-mail address and the password was slightly different than what I use now. So, once I figured that out, all of my songs are authorized.
And, as you said, once I authorized the first song with the correct username and password, they all were authorized.

  • Purchased songs not authorized after 7.0.2 update

I'm sure I'm late to this problem, but perhaps someone can explain or link me to an explanation.
I just updated to 7.0.2, and now much of my previously purchased music is not authorized. What up?

    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
     Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.

  • Why does my purchased songs not play after restoring from iCloud?

I recently had to exchange my iPhone 4 after having a problem with my lock button. When I restored my purchased items from iCloud none of my purchased songs or movies would work. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem without having to redownload each item?

Does the music appear to be on the iPhone, but won't play?
My iPhone did this after an iCloud backup. If the music is shown but won't play then:
On the iPhone go to settings> general > usage> then delete all of the music. After you've done this sync your iPhone to your iTunes and they should all go back onto the phone and work. ( make sure that all the music is in your iTunes library first)

  • ITunes song not authorized to computer keeps popping up

I bought an album a few days ago on iTunes and every song plays on it, except for one. When I try to play it, on iTunes (on my computer) it says that my computer is not authrorized to play it and that I have to put in my apple ID, so I do, and it says that my computer already is authorized. I also can't play that same song on my iphone.
I also tried to delete the song from my itunes and redownload it, but I didn't do that because I noticed that the whole album wasn't under purchased on my iTunes. Is it maybe because this album was preordered?
Why is this happening how do I fix it?

every song plays on it, except for one.
That suggests the track is damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • HT1386 How can i get all my songs transfered onto the computer from Ipod classic so that my new ipod and my spouse can get the songs??

    Hello
How can I transfer my songs off my old Ipod classic to the computer so that I can pick them up with my new Ipod 4.  Also I want to transfere some songs to my spouses Ipod 5.  Please let me know what I can do...
    Thank you..
    Alexandra

You can try the steps in that support article, but I doubt they'll help: you're trying to copy from an iPod Classic, to an iPod Touch.  As far as I know, that can't be done using backup and restore.  (But you can try—it wouldn't hurt.)
The question I have is, do you have the songs on your computer also?  Or do you only have the songs on your iPod Classic?  (Maybe from an old computer that crashed or something?)
If you have your songs on the computer, all you have to do is just set up your new iPod through iTunes on your computer and sync the songs from iTunes to your new iPod.  You don't have to do anything with the old iPod Classic.
    (Does that help?)

  • How do I download my previously purchased songs (on a different computer) on a PC running XP? I have followed the instructions but none of it allows me to download my songs. I deauthorized all computers and authorized this one only but it didn't help.

I had to change computers and cannot access my old drive. iTunes shows me the list of songs but I cannot get most to play. Instead I get a message saying "cannot locate"
I have tried following the support tutorials but it still does not allow me to download my previous purchases.
I tried de-authorizing all computers and then re-authorizing this on but it still doesn't allow me to access most of my songs.

It sounds like you might have broken links to your content. Either repair these by putting the files you've recovered where iTunes expects to find them or delete the broken entries then go to iTunes Store > Purchased > Music > Not on This Computer, and click the download links.

  • If i have songs on another computer, how can i get the purchased songs on my new computer

I had Itunes on a computer of mine that will not turn on now, is there a way to get those purchased songs on my new computer?

Copy them from your backup copy of your computer.
If you failed to backup for some reason, transfer them from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases
If you are in the U,S use the newly released icloud.
