Purchased songs only playing half way through

I purchased 2 albums today and a few songs on each only play half through then skip to the next. I deleted and redownloaded, still having the same problem.

Try deleting and redownloading just the problematic tracks (rather than the entire album(s)). Any better luck with that?

Songs only play half way through and move on to next one

I have been using iTunes (10.5) on my Macbook Pro, OS 10.6.8 with no problems until this morning. When I turned on iTunes, I got a message stating that this computer was not authorized to play the song I chose. I received the same error message for all the other songs. And these were all songs that I had uploaded from my own CD collection a long time ago. So, I authorized the computer as requested by iTunes, although I thought I had done that before. Now none of the songs finish playing. The songs quit about half way through and then the next song starts. It is *extremely* annoying. Should I reinstall one of the older iTunes versions? Anyone else have this problem? I found old posts from 5-6 yeas ago but no solutions.

Remove the song from the device either by using a computer or on the device itself.
You can redownload any song that you have currently purchased for free through itunes on a computer or iOS device. After deleted attempt to redownload the song.

How can this be fixed, I noticed also that on I tunes on my PC before purchasing a song I listen to it and now it is only playing like 4 seconds of the song and I have opened up the URL and it still won't work correctly. PLEASE HELP

Are these songs that you purchased from the iTunes Store or imported from outside of iTunes? If there are iTunes purchases, delete them from your main iTunes library and redownload them again at no cost via iCloud.

I think this is a more general problem Apple are having at the moment. I have just written in another thread:
"I am having this problem too. There have been quite a few other threads about it. It applies to single tracks too. They appear to download OK, and show as the right file size and length, but stop playing well before the end and iTunes moves on to the next track. Redownloading them helps sometimes but not always.
I have only had this problem for the last week or so. The longer the track the more likely there is to be a problem (perhaps obviously)."
I think it is the tracks themselves rather than iTunes. If you export the problematic track to the Desktop and try playing it with Quicktime it stops in just the same place.

My husband downloaded a new playlist to his iphone, but many of the songs end half way through and then go on to the next song. How can we fix this?

In my experience, the songs that are skipping may not have transferred over to your husband's iPhone correctly. I would advise you to uncheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes (so there is ultimately no music syncing to the iPhone).
Once you have done that, recheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes once more. This will instruct iTunes to completely remove all music from the iPhone, and then copy the files once more. If you have a large amount of music, this initial sync may take a while.

Why do some of the songs only play half way, then skip to the next song?

I just got the ipod shuffle and am enjoying it very much, except that a few songs won't play all the way through. I tried them on my computer and they WILL play there, BUT I notice they have a kind of crackle, like the download got interupted. Is that making them "Skip" like a scratched record? And what do I do about it?

If those are purchased tracks (from ITS) then this is an old problem, and a continuing one.
The two most common fixes are either to work through ITS Support and get different copies of those tracks (they will never work correctly on the Shuffle as they are, and might actually get worse with time), or go through a process of burning those tracks off to a CD and then reimporting them back into iTunes.
Both of these have been discussed at length in these and other forums. Search for those threads and see what you want to try.

Hi, you probably have the song set to "Remember Playback Position" option
To fix, go into itunes, select the song(s) you are having trouble with, then under "File" menu, choose "get info" a window will pop up with various options. Go to OPTIONS tab and uncheck the box next to "remember playback position"

I bought an album but 3 of the songs stop playing half way through, it's just silence. Can I get a refund and if so, how?

Recently, I bought the Adam Barnes album and I put it on my iPod. When I started listening to it and it was great. But when it got to track 4, it played the first minute and then it was just silence for the rest of the 3 and a half minutes song. It did this again for tracks 5 and 6 too, but the other tracks are fine. I checked my iTunes and it doesn't work on there too. Has this happened to anyone else? Can I get a refund? If so, how can I get one?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app (or video app) on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

I downloaded an Album from Itunes Store onto a Windows PC. Some of the songs play fine while others play about half the song and then skip to the next song. But, when I play the same songs from iCloud on my iPhone 4s, they play the whole song. So, why can't itunes play the song in full?

This happened to me. What you need to do is move the song and any backups to the recycle bin. Then go to Itunes store and click 'Purchased' under Quick Links. Go to the song you want and there will be a cloud next to it. Click it and it will redownload. It should download the full song this time.
This happened to me yesterday when I bought a Volbeat album and again today when my brother bought a Rise Against album. I hope Apple fixes this. I just read about a question like this from back in 2007, so it's been going on for a while.
