"Purchased" songs showing as "Matched"

I currently have 319 purchases that are showing as 'Matched' instead of 'Purchased' - mostly from alt accounts (wife/son) whose accounts are authorized on the PC that iTunes match in enabled on.  This does not include the 20 odd purchases that were purchased with the same account but showed old email addresses that just would not update and that did not show as downloadable from iTunes under 'Purchase History' that I just gave up on, burned to CD, and re-imported.
How do we get iTunes Match to recognize the purchases as purchases...this is 319 songs that should not be counting towards my 25k limit!?

Thank you for the clarification...it just seemd if the computer was authorized it wouldn't matter with which account.
Going forward I know to make all purchases through a single account then...one more annoyance to add to my list with iTunes Match.

I Can't find newly purchased songs in iTunes Match. Anybody know why?

Hi - you are not alone in this. I've had the same problem, and apparently so have others. I'm also following the discussion:

  • Not matching purchased songs in iTunes match

I purched a sampler of sons from iTunes, but when I signed up for iTunes Match it did not match this sampler album.

    Bob Clark wrote:
    Problems include:
    - over 1000 songs labeled uploaded when they should be matched.
    - often some songs from the same album are matched and others uploaded
    - albums purchased from the itunes store sometimes show some songs matched, some purchased, some ineligible, and some removed, sometimes all for single album.
These are realities of the iTunes Match service. No, that isn't satisfying, I agree. However just because a track is available in the store does not mean that track will "match" to what is in your library. Apple's matching algorithyms are based on a variety of criteria which we have been able to determine include the waveform of the song, file size, song length and probably other things we are not aware of. If a track doesn't meet these criteria it isn't matched.
As to why purchased music might be "matched" instead of "purchased" this is a little easier to answer because it is directly related to what is available in your store purchase history. So if you have an album that has 6 "purchased" tracks and 2 "matched" this generally means the tracks are no longer in your purchase history. Even if that same album is available in the store it may not be the same files you originally purchased. For example I have a copy of The Rolling Stones' Black and Blue in my library that I purchased from the iTunes store. This album is still on the store, but it is no longer in my purchase history because the copyright owner made changes at some point and remove the exact version of the files I originally purchased. So now this album in "matched" in my library and it not available for me to download it again. Again, this is frustrating and not satisfying and I voiced my extreme displeasure to the iTunes Store rep that I was originally working with about this policy but it is what it is and there's not anything I can do about it so I live with it and make sure I have backups.
The hiding/unhiding trick can sometimes work to restore missing tracks to albums in your purchase history but my success rate has been rather low. YMMV.
So, if you are looking at iTunes Match with the expectation that it will "match" 100% of the non-iTunes purchases in your library you will be disappointed. At this time there really is no way for and end-user to force a song to "match."

  • Why do pre-purchased songs show up in a separate album?

I pre-purchased an album and multiple songs were available for download early. When the album was released and the rest of the tracks were downloaded, iTunes created a separate album by the same name and artwork. How can I fix this? I want all of the tracks under one album and I think it's a little ridiculous to have to create a playlist to listen to a full album I purchased. Any help is appreciated.

If the songs your purchased were purchased under the same Apple ID that you have currently signed on to iTunes on your computer then your purchases will show up. Click on iTunes Store, and under Music Quick Links, click on Purchased>Songs>Not in My Library. All of your past purchases that are not on your current computer will show up with the cloud next to them. Click on the individual songs to download them selectively, or click on Download All at the bottom of the screen to download all of them.
    You must be sure that:
The Computer is Authorized to the Apple ID that you made the purchases with
iTunes is signed on to the Apple ID that you made the purchases with
If your songs are all in the "All" Category, but none show in the Not in My Library category, are the songs that you believe are missing showing in the All list? If not, then one of the two items above is probably not as stated.

  • Purchased songs showing on I-Tunes

Had power supply on my computer replaced.  I clicked on my I-Tunes and under "purchased", none of my songs are showing up that I bought.  They are showing up in the "songs" file along with all the other songs that I put on from CD's.  I have never had this problem before.  Once I signed in to I-Tunes, they would automatically appear.  HELP!!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Does the iPod show that the song is playing (the bar at the bottom is getting larger and showing that more of the song has been played) or is the iPod just not playing the song (it skips it and goes to the next one)?
    Do other (non-purchased songs) work?
If the iPod is skipping the song and not playing it, try the steps listed here...

  • HT201272 Previously purchased songs showing up in my iphone but not my itunes?

Previously purchased songs are showing up on my iphone with the little cloud next to them. I dont hit the cloud to download them, but when i shuffle my songs they still play. It wont let me delete them on my iphone and they dont show up in my itunes library so i cant delete them there. I also have automatic downlaods switched to OFF. How do i delete these songs from my iphone? I dont want them in my library. And Ive tried downloading them and then deleting them, but it still wont let me delete them even after dowloadling.

    Hello BKBrown65,
I understand that your iPod touch is not recognized by iTunes. The following article may help to resolve your issue:

  • Why aren't my purchased songs showing up in the purchased playlist

When I buy a song from iTunes on my iPhone 5, it shows up in my library but not the "purchased" playlist. I didn't have this problem with my iPhone 4S. Is there a setting that needs to be changed so it shows up under purchased? I didn't have this problem on th iPhone 4S.

I too am having this problem. Its really frustrating. In fact i have my setting to have all music on my phone however the phone displays I have 2986 and the itunes reads 2987. I'm one off on this area. In addition some of my purchased music does not show in my purchased list on the phone. It does show on the itunes account on the computer and in the overall albums just not in the purchased. I drug the purchased song from the albums to the purchased playlist and tried to have it re-sync... did not work.. I tryed re-booting the phone, and restoring from back up all failed.
Another problem I have found since the IOS7 updates is the phone doesn't keep my music where it was when I get out of my car. I used to love that I would get out of the car in the middle of my playlist go in the store come out and it would pick up right where it left off. Now I get back in the car and it begins playing random music of all my entire library. I love all my music however I don't want to listen to Christmas and Halloween music all the time. I don't want to remove these from the phone as I want them always available. I just want the function to go back to how it was.
Oh and the last thing, sometimes when I turn my phone sideways and am listening to music the collage of albums shows but freezes so I cant turn the phone back and change the music. I like having the capablility of turning the phone to see pictures and things auto turn but not this collage of albums if it's gonna delay me swictching or skipping songs.
Any ideas for these issues? Is apple aware and working on these?

  • Purchased songs show up on my ipod but will not play!

I am about ready to drive over my ipod with a car! I have the 80GB ipod and it was working fine until recently. For whatever reason, songs that I had previously (as in months ago) purchased on itunes show up on my ipod, but do not play. All other songs (ones that I downloaded from cd's) show up and play. I have tried everything I can think of but it still won't get them to play! HELP!

    See this.
iPod does not play content purchased from the iTMS.
If you have made sure that both the iTunes and iPod software are current and have deauthorized and reauthorized your computer, try this test:
    1. Deauthorize the computer.
    2. Create a new user in the system.
    3. Download the free song of the week from the iTMS in the new user account.
    4. Play the song in that user account to authorize again.
    5. Restore the iPod (using the iPod updater) in the new user account.
    6. Sync just the free song of the week and see if it plays on the iPod.
If it does, you appear to have a corrupted iTunes library file, and you should recreate the iTunes library file in your normal user account, and then sync your music back to the iPod and all should be well.

  • Purchased songs show up, but won't play on iPod

Hey-newbie here. I checked out iPod 101 and it doesn't address this exact problem (or if it does, I'm thick and can't see it!).
I bought some songs off iTunes. They show up in the Purchased file and in the Library. They also show up on the iPod, but when I got to play them, they skip to the next song. I've restored, deauthorized and reauthorized, turned off virus protection-what am I missing? The iPod is one week old! Arrgh! TIA.

Don't have a solution, sorry for that; but you wouldn't happen to be Tia Ann would you?

  • Why do some songs show as matched but are not available for download?

I have just run iTunes match for the first time. The songs I can download are impressive. However, some of my songs do not have the cloud and download symbol next to them but when you look at the iCloud status it says they are matched. How can this be if I can't download them?
    Barry

I have the same issue. I'm using iTunes the latest version (11.0.2.26). I uploaded my songs from my external hard drive and then matched them via iTunes Match. The iCloud Status says "Matched" but I can't download the songs to my harddrive. But there are others that will allow me to download Matched songs. I attached a screenshot of my iTunes.

  • HT204406 why don't my songs show as matched?

I have a large number of CDs I have ripped from my personal collection as different and file types, and at different rates.  I'd love to replace all my audio files with the iTunes files.  However, literally hundreds of my audio files are showing up with an iCloud status of "Uploaded" instead of "Matched." I've spot checked many of the files, and they are available in the iTunes store. Why aren't they matching, so I can replace them with AAC files?  (BTW, I'm well under the 40,000 file limit).

This requires some sort of additional action on your part, such as following these instructions. Simply logging into the iTunes Store isn't enough.

  • I purchased songs the other day with a gift card and they now show up in my purchase history but won't download into my library.

For some reason my computer won't let me download any new music it lets me buy them on itunes and then they show up as purchased but they don't acutally show up in my library. The other thing is that my computer automatically sends any new music to my phone over my wifi so these new purchased songs show up on my Iphone but not in my library. When I try to download new purchases in itunes it brings up an error message that says "There were problems downloading some purchased items"

Select the Recently added playlist and see if they show up there.
The other thing is that my computer automatically sends any new music to my phone over my wifi so these new purchased songs show up on my Iphone but not in my library.
They are being downloaded from the iTunes store, not syncing from yrou computer.
Settings > iTunes & App stores.
If Automatic donwloads is set to On, whenever you make a purchase using any device/computer, they will be automatically downloaded to your phone.

  • Getting Purchased Songs to show up in "Purchased Songs" list

Purchased new computer and have opened iTunes and imported my entire library into iTunes (library is on an external disk). Only some of my purchased songs showed up under Store/Purchased. The purchased songs are in the library, they are just not listed under "Purchased" as well. Any way to fix this?

Actually, it's pretty easy to do this. I'm having the same issue but not because I have a new computer. Check out this article:

I also deauthorized and then, reauthorized the computer and I still cannot play any purchased songs, shows, etc. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Songs in itunes match are not on my iphone

I have recently started to trial iTunes Match and with 20k+ carefully managed songs with all artwork intact, I am confused and perplexed on why some songs are not uploaded to the Cloud; why some artwork is then missing in Match; and why songs showing in Match are not transferred correctly on my iPhone nor iPad (they are listed, but light grey and not playable). Any suggestions on what I need to do or is this an Apple issue?

First, you need to let the inital scan, match and upload process in iTunes complete before you enable the service on your iOS devices. This is the best practice. Once the initial scan is complete then all the music will be availabe on the iOS devices.
Second, in Song view in iTunes enable the iCloud Status column so you can see how the service has classified all the music in your library. If successfully processed all the tracks shoud be either "purchased," "matched," or "uploaded." Any other status indicates a problem with that track that will need to be sorted out, and it won't be availble on the iOS devices.
Third, be patient with the artwork. It can take some time for all the artwork to download to the iOS devices. It isn't instant. But eventually all the artwork will show up.
