Purchased songs skipping over on ipod

i recently downloaded the newest version of itunes (7.7) and after i connected my ipod to itunes, i noticed that all the songs i had purchased from the itunes would skip over on my ipod. the song title, artist name and even album artwork would show up for a second, and then skip to the next song. my ipod software is up to date and i even tried recreating my itunes, restoring my ipod to factory settings. nothing ive done seems to help. anybody know what else i can do to fix it?

Start iTunes and go to the Store menu on top and Deauthorize your computer. Now play one of the songs that aren't working (the purchased ones) and when prompted enter your Apple ID and password. Now Resync the songs to your iPod.

  • Select Purchased Songs Skip on iPod

Three of my recently purchased songs skip on my iPod, but not my iTunes. I've reset the iPod and restored it enough that Apple Support tells me it's an iTunes problem. My iPod plays all other purchased music, but only on these three songs will it skip. It skips at the same point each time, but the points vary between song. If I "fast-forward" past the skip-point, it will play a bit more of the song (maybe a couple of minutes), and skip again. Anyone have any idea what's going on here? Thanks very much, it's gotten really irritating, and I've run out of viable solutions.

    Hi Charlotte,
I've had this symptom before on my iPod, and have solved it by taking rather drastic action. Please pay close attention to the advice I will give now and proceed only if you understand the implications.
I firmly believe that many iPods suffer from disk fragmentation and errors which cause this problem. Syncing iPods with continually changing content in one's iTunes library is not a good thing in the interest of keeping an iPod healthy, even though it's extremely handy. Also, even though the process of restoring an iPod is usually considered a last-resort option, it actually does nothing to check for or correct possible disk problems on an iPod, whereas the procedure I describe below does.
The first thing to do is to take a careful inventory of what's on your iPod and what's on your computer. As long as you're certain that you won't lose any irreplaceable data by temporarily deleting the contents of your iPod, you should be safely able to follow these steps and restore your iPod, hopefully solving the playback problem in the process.
    1. Connect your iPod to your computer.
    2. Quit iTunes if it was open or opens automatically at this point.
    3. Open Disk Utility (Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility).
    4. Select your iPod from the sidebar in the Disk Utility window, taking care to select the device itself rather than just the logical volume appearing below it.
    5. Click the Erase tab.
    6. Enter a name for your iPod in the Name field.
    7. From the Volume Format drop-down list, select Mac OS Extended.
    8. Uncheck the Install Mac OS 9 Drivers option.
    9. Click the Security Options button.
    10. Check the Zero Out Data radio button.
    11. Click the Erase button.
    12. Give your consent to the ensuing deletion of the contents of the volume/disk when prompted.
    13. When Disk Utility is finished erasing your iPod, quit Disk Utility. Your iPod should now appear as a generic-looking white removable disk icon on your Desktop.
    14. Launch iTunes.
    15. Follow the prompts to set up your iPod for use with iTunes on your computer, name it (even though you already gave it a name in Disk Utility), and sync it with your iTunes library after setting the various iPod preferences to your liking.
Please note that I have performed the preceeding actions with my own 5G 30 GB iPod Video more than once with only positive effects, so I am not merely pulling wild suggestions out of my hat. I would really like to hear back from you after you've tried this, if you decide to go for it, to see if it solves your problem. I am thinking of refining these instructions and submitting them as a user tip here in Apple Discussions.
    Good luck.

    How can I fix this?

Try deleting all the Music on the phone and re-syncing:
    Settings > General > Usage > Music > Edit (top right) > > Delete

  • Purchased Songs Skip because of 6.0.4

The 6.0.4 update is obviously messing with people's ability to listen to their purchased songs, in my case on both my Ipod Mini. Resetting doesn't seem to work for anyone beyond two days. This isn't because of bad sectors or funny harddrives. There is something in the latest update that is causing this problem. This fix is not a fix, it's a problem and you need to start with what 6.0.4 is doing differently. The Ipod is showing the songs are there, but it is simply skipping over them when you go to play them. Everyone here who has posted regarding this problem is indicating the same source: the latest update.

"There is something in the latest update that is causing this problem."
If that were true then it would be affecting every single user who purchases music from iTunes. It doesn't affect me, nor any members of my family and friends who use Windows.
    Try this:
    1. Deauthorize the computer.
    2. Create a new user in the system.
    3. Download the free song of the week from the iTMS in the new user account.
    4. Play the song in that user account to authorize again.
    5. Restore the iPod (using the iPod updater) in the new user account.
    6. Sync just the free song of the week and see if it plays on the iPod.
If it does, you appear to have a corrupted iTunes library file, and you should recreate the iTunes library file in your normal user account, and then sync your music back to the iPod and all should be well.

  • Why do some songs skip on my iPod?

I have only noticed that one CD of music is doing this. There are about ten songs on this CD, which is loaded into my iTunes, then on to my iPod Classic (160GB). All songs play fine on my computer thruogh iTunes. However, only two of the ten play on my iPod, the rest are skipped over when played in sequence or shuffled. I have completely wipped it off the iPod and computer, loaded other songs, then reloaded this CD's music. The same thing happens, with the same songs. I have checked the menu under "Get Info" and "Options", which is "skip on shuffle". It is not checked. This is crazy, Help me please!

    Troubleshooting songs that skip
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    If necessary
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Upgraded to 10.6.1.17 and now purchased songs skip

So I upgraded a couple days ago and have noticed that certain songs skip before the song is finished, anywhere from 60-20 seconds before the end of the song.  The only songs I've noticed this on are purchased from the iTunes Store.
Crossafde is off and when I look at the songs the start and stop times are unchecked, but show the correct times?  Seems to have been an ongoing issue for lots of users over the years, but I can't seem to find a solid answer?
Or how can I go through and force iTunes to re-download my purchased songs?  It seems to think that as long as I have them I'd never need to download/replace them?
    Thanks!

    Clay & David,
I had the same issue. Spent hours downloading, reinstalling and restarting. No luck. Found Ian.Gilmore's solution posted in Feb 2009 (Ian you are a saint). You use the Epson user interface to configure your network. Verbatim instructions are below. Press the "Home" button on the Workforce 600 interface panel. "Search SSID" brought up the name of my network and I used it rather than "WPA-PSK (TKIP)"
    Here is Ian's solution:
"I was having the same issue. The Epson Software couldn't find the printer when it was connected via ethernet to my computer. I instead went through the actual printer UI and chose: Setup > Network Settings > Wireless LAN Setup > Manual Wireless LAN Setup > Infrastructure Mode > Search SSID > WPA-PSK (TKIP)
Once the printer connects to the network you can simply add it via Print & Fax."

  • HT201272 Purchased Songs skipped

I have two songs on an albumn that I purchased and downloaded that show up in my list of songs but wont play. Itunes skips over them to the next song from the album.
One song plays 10 seconds of 4:10 and the other (should be 2:23) skips over it completely. Is there any way to re-download the song so that it will play?

Delete the tracks from the iTunes library, allowing iTunes to move the track files to the Trash. Then download the tracks again from the iTunes Store via this procedure:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
That fixes the problem for many people. If problems with the tracks persist, go here:
    iTunes Support
and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.
    Regards.

  • Some purchased songs skipping

some of my purchased songs sort of skip or play slow when i play them on itunes but they work fine on my i pod. My non purchased songs all play fine just some of my purchased songs. Completely uninstalling i tunes did not work. Deleting one of the song from my i tunes library and letting my i pod put it back into itunes did not work. I have a song that i have purchased from i tunes and the same song also came off of a CD that i have and the song from the CD works fine just the itunes purchased one "skips". This all seemed to happen when i downloaded the newest version of i tunes. How can i fixed this or am i just out of luck with these purchased songs?

for songs in itunes.. i googled this problem.. and it seems to have worked. what almighty google told me was to change the settings of the quicktime player. so in the control panel (classic view) there is a quicktime icon. open this and click the advanced tab. change the mode to safe mode and click apply. my itunes then processed each song i have (over 5000) which took quite some time but it seems to have worked..
now my problem is trying to sort out the movies which skip.. although the sound got better once i had done the above, the picture still jumps. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
    hope this helps everyone

  • Purchased songs dont copy to ipod

heyas! my purchased songs at itunes dont update to my ipod! in fact.. i had them in my ipod but they dont know why were deleted (but i still have them on my pc and in the "purchase" folder) but i cant update them again to ipod!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Have you played the songs in iTunes for a few seconds? This will authorize them. Now sync your iPod. Do they transfer?
If not, make sure everything is up to date on your computer and iPod..
    iTunes
    iPod Updater
    Updating iPod's Software
If that doesn't work, in iTunes, go to advanced-->deauthorize computer. Now play the songs in iTunes. It will ask for your account information (from the iTunes Music Store). Enter that. Now play a few purchased songs for a few seconds. Sync your iPod. Do the songs transfer now?
Try the steps listed here as well...

  • New Purchased Songs Wont Sync to Ipod

I got a new computer and still had my old ipod so to keep the songs I have from getting erased I authorized my computer for my old ipod and everything was fine. All my purchased songs from my ipod synced onto my library great except for the songs I had loaded from CDs because those only show up on my ipod, but I didn't care so much. Well NOW I purchased 10 new songs from itunes store and they show up and play just fine in my library, but I can't get them to sync onto my ipod ! HELP PLZ !

I forgot to add whenever I ask it to sync it pops up asking me to: erase & sync or transfer purchase songs like I did before so I always transfer purchased songs but it doesn't do anything and im afraid if i select erase and sync it will erase everything...i dont know what to do !

  • TS3217 This song skipping bug on iPods has been around for years!  Is there any solution yet?

I've tried resetting my iPods.  (I've got 3 Classics, 2-80gb, 1-160gb)  I've tried 256kbps, 190kbps, and 128kbps compression rates.  All using AAC, all synced with a Mac Mini with Mountain Lion and the latest software for iTunes and the iPods.  It doesn't seem to matter what I try, all three of the iPods have the issue- they'll be playing fine, then they randomly stop prior to the end of a song, and skip to the next one.  The original songs are fine on the computer.  I've tried syncing with a different computer that has a different backup drive storing the song.  It still happens.  I've deleted songs, downloaded them from iCloud, and it still happens.  Is it just the iPod Classics, or does this happen on solid state iPods as well?  Is there any sign of a fix?  I've got over 12000 songs, and I'm kind of committed to this format, since Apple has pretty much killed all the portable music player competition.

I've been told by Verizon business team that Sumsung and Verizon are working on a fix. Of course, that could be one month or 12 months.
My wife and I have a Samsung S3 and Note II and both, on Jelly Bean have the same flaw. It's very frustrating. I carry with me an unlocked HTC and also Verizon Incredible 2. Since SIM Data plans are cheap enough in most countries, I just get additional SIM cards with a data plan and turn on the hotspot feature of these devices with I access from the S3 and NOTE II. Not ideal, but close enough for now.
In the UK, I am hoping the LTE capabilities will work (VodaFone UK is imminent).

  • Certain purchased songs skip when playing

I have been purchasing albums and singles lately, and some of them play for around 40s and then skip to the next song? Is there any way of fixing this?

Nope. I recreated the library, resynched my iPod. The songs still skip. I'm beginning to think it has to do with the fact that I synch my iPod to a specific playlist and not my music library. I may try restoring my iPod and individually copying the songs from the library to my shuffle. Either that, or just get rid of the songs off my iPod that skip..since all they do is aggravate me!
    Thanks for trying.

  • Purchased songs on iPod. Sync with computer, purchased songs are gone from iPod and not on computer.

I recently purchased several songs off of the iTunes app on my iPod touch 4Gen. When I plugged my ipod into my computer a few days later, something must've happened because now the songs don't appear on my iPod or computer, and when I look them up on iTunes it doesn't have the 'play' option it does for other songs I've purchased. I have the reciepts, and I'd really rather not buy my music all over again. Any help please?

What you should have done was review something like the user tip Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device before syncing with a new computer. Depending on your region you may well be able to download your past iTunes purchases from the store, however you have lost the chance to recover other content. Links in the tip.
