Purchases not saving properly, then being deleted!

Sorry for the long post, but I figured the more info the better...
I am storing my music on an external hard drive. I have my advanced settings set to 'Keep iTunes folder organised" and "To copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library". When I finish downloading a song, it says it is complete but when I check the 'Info' for the downloaded song it ends up in the downloads folder of itunes as a .tmp file, not in the proper place.
For example, tonight I downloaded Centennial by Tokyo Police Club. It appeared to have downloaded correctly and processed, yet the pathway for the song is as follows:
K:\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\Downloads\Centennial_Elephant Shell (Bonus T.tmp\download.m4a
According to the way I have iTunes setup it should end up in the folder:
K:\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\Tokyo Police Club\Elephant Shell (Bonus Track Version)\01....etc
The above folder is actually created on my external hard drive, but it is empty.
In the folder K:\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\Downloads\Centennial _Elephant Shell (Bonus T.tmp there are two files:
Download m4a which is 4181 kb and Info (a Quick Time preference file) which is 2kb
When I sync my iPhone or iPod, I am able to get the track onto the device, however at some point, the download folder deletes the m4a file and then the link in iTunes shows up as a "!" and the file is no longer anywhere on my hard drive. AS it is an external drive, nothing gets sent to the recycle bin...it just gets permenantly deleted.
I have been able to restore my purchases from my iPhone by transferring back purchased items after deleting the links off of iTunes before syncing my device, but this is a totally inconvenient solution, and it is only a matter of time before I lose purchases.
Also, I am never prompted to backup my purchases like I was in the past and I am running the most updated version of iTunes. Anyone ever seen something like this before???
PS: There is nothing wrong with the hard drive, i've run a diagnostic on it and even switched drives...still the same. Aaaargh!

Perhaps. It seems iTunes can create the new artist folder. Your first post said it shows up, but is blank. But then it can't write the final file to that folder.
Were you trying to take ownership of the root K: drive?
Try taking ownership of K:\Music and all its subfolders, instead - does that work?
This isn't an easy one. You might have to use MSCONFIG to find out why itunes can't finish its filing tasks.

edit - do you have V CST from Verizon? There is a memonitor.exe process from Verizon that is known to interfere with itunes saving the final file.

IMessage not working properly, contacts being deleted?

Just today, my iMessages have become messed up. Instead of sending me an iMessage, O2 converted my friend's message into a text file, then emailed it to me (as she has an iPhone 4, I have an iPad 2). I have no idea why it did this - can anyone explain, and please Apple, will you fix iOS 5?!?
Secondly, my iMessage contacts keep being deleted. And let me make this clear - this is only the people I have contacted via iMessage, not people who I contact via email or are just in my contacts. I also have no idea why this has been happening, but it has been happening for about the past fortnight.
I have had multiple problems with iOS 5. Lagging home screens. Not recognising gestures properly (the added multitasking gestures). WiFi signal being dropped. Please Apple, sort this out! I love my iPad as a piece of hardware. Why can't you make some software that will do it justice?

When are what people going to do something about it? It certainly doesn't rule it out, but it doesn't seem to be a system-wide issue. In any case, you can and should report it to Apple directly here: http://www.apple.com/ca/support/contact/
In the mean time, have you tried the following?
Do a reset of your device. Press and hold the Home and Power buttons at the same time. This takes 10-15 seconds. Release the buttons only when you see the Apple logo appear.

Adobe acrobat has recovered one or more documents that were not saved properly

Hello,
I am getting the following error and cant seem to fins anything about it anywhere
"Adobe acrobat has recovered one or more documents that were not saved properly before Acrobat was shut down click yes to open the recovered document click no your changes will be lost. "
This comes up numerous times a day. Does anyone have any idea to what it might be related to? Some seting? Looking for a direction to troubleshoot.
Running Acrobat X standard, fully updated, Windows 7.

Same problem.
Clicking yes or no does not stop the pop up to come over and over again.
Copied the file "unsaved", renamed it and deleted the "unsaved" one.
No success, pop up with message Adobe acrobat has recovered one or more documents that were not saved properly continues
It is very disturbing when working with tough deadlines

Keynote (and other iWork apps) not saving properly!

Hi all
I have had some strange problems over the last few weeks where I get messages telling me that iWork (usually Numbers) cannot save the files as 'something else' is using the file. So I click 'save anyway' and I get strange files in folders, ie folder and file name is the original name plus some gooblygook.
I have got round this by deleting the 'extras' and carrying on. But now I am preparing a major presentation in Keynote and suddenly it is not saving graphics some of the time!
For example I was working on a slide - and suddenly got a message that 'some problems occured' -
Couldn’t save image. - image.png (Slides: 12, 13, 17, 18; Skipped slide count: 1)

I have been working with this presentation for some time and have never encountered any problems - passing between my laptop and my iPad to review and modify (mainly viewing on the iPad and editing on the MacBook).
Any ideas what is happening? I have a major presentation to give in just over a week and I don't want to use PowerPoint!

I've been having some success NOT using any files that have previous images or audio in them, starting from a base template and then adding audio and video and photos that are already on my hard drive, not previous Keynote files. Today I needed five slides that were part of another deck and, you guessed it, they were corrupted (or missing) when I reopened the file, only the thumbnails remaining.
I closed the original Keynote file, placed a zip extension, then control- clicked to see the contents. The images were missing from the package. I then replaced the extension with .key and reopened in Keynote. The audio file had been there but not the images or the drawing, which I then searched for.
Yes, delete the weird file backups and make a backup of the original in the finder. Then lock it! (You're using Mountain Lion?)
I have a huge presentation tomorrow. I have five backups, including on a thumb drive.
How much longer Apple?

Voice memos app not saving properly

I am using an iphone5 running iOS7.1.1 and performing the following actions will cause Voice Memos app not saving recordings. I have sent a feedback to Apple but is wondering if anyone else is found having similar problems.
1) Run Voice memos app and start recording
2) At lock screen open camera app and take a picture
3) At same lock screen delete the picture taken
4) Lock screen will show RECORDING in progress
5) Open Voice memos app and it will also show RECORDING in progress
6) Save voice memo from app and the duration FROM the point of picture deleted WILL NOT be saved

same here ... iPhone 3gs/32 gigs ram/ios 4.3.1 ...
the app doesn't seem to work any more, and hasn't for some time:
"buttons" are unresponsive, or they appear to respond, but don't perform their function ... erratic behavior ...
very disappointing as this has gone on for some time ...
We appear not to be the only ones ...

Can notes be restored after being deleted from my apple devices

I lost all of my notes on all of my devices. Can they be restored after being deleted inadvertly.

Not Saving Properly

I've noticed that when using Save As to rename a file after making changes in the original file, the changes are not actually saved in GB 3.0.4. So, I've tried Save As, then a plain Save for the new file. Still the changes are not registered by the computer, although the changes are evident on the track in GB. If I try to add the supposedly new file to the audio track in Keynote, the old file without the new changes is inserted. The only way to get the changes to register computer wide is to perform a Save As with the new file name, quit GarageBand, reopen the file, then do a Save. Then and only then will Keynote see the desired file with all the changes. Can anyone else confirm this? I've tried deleting GB prefs to no avail. I do have create preview checked in GB Preferences. This is a very unusual and frustrating problem.

Yo hangtime, I've now heard from your Keynote equivalent guru, and he thinks you've found the best workaround out there. His guess, like yours and mine is that the GB preview file is not being updated properly, or that keynote is not accessing the properly updated preview file. Either way, your workaround works. Of course, sharing the file from GB to iTunes also works without all the extra steps. So for now I'll assume there is no straightforward, easy way to go about it. Maybe in the future. Thanks again.

Photoshop CC Not saving properly

Ok, I have tested this with a few different computers that all have the latest update of Photoshop CC and they all do it... When you have a photo open and you go to Save As, if you hit enter (which should save it), the dialog box drops you into a subfolder if you have subfolders, and then hitting enter again saves it in the subfolder, which if you dont catch this, could lead to files being saved where it's not supposed to be saved to. You have to physically click "save". please help fix this bug.

What operating system are you using?
It's not working the way you describe for me on Windows 8.1. When I choose File - Save (or Save As), then just hit Enter, the file saves in the folder that was selected by default.

ICloud not restoring properly? apps delete?

My dad just bought a new ipad since the last one he had fell down and now the screen is all green. He tried restoring the new one from the backup he had in iCloud, but after entering all his info and iTunes account, the ipad requests MY iTunes account password as well, we didn't mind and entered it, but it said that some apps couldn't be downloaded and should be downloaded from the computer (which we don't have) and then it proceeds to download the apps but deletes them when it finishes downloading. What the heck is going on?

When you restore an iCloud backup, you are asked to provide the password for all Apple IDs used to purchase apps, music and other purchased media so they can be redownloaded from the iTuens and App stores, if available. The must have been some media on his iPad that was purchased with your Apple ID if the backup requested your password before proceeding.
If an app is very large, you are sometimes required to download it from your computer instead. This may have been why you were prompted to download these apps on your computer. However, I'm not sure why it would have then proceeded to download them anyway and then delete them.
If these apps are in his iTunes library on his computer you will probably have to wait until he has access to his computer to sync them back to his iPad. (He shouldn't try to download them as a previous purchase from the App store if they were purchased under your Apple ID. If he were to do so, his iPad would become associated with your ID and he would then not be able to download previous purchased using his own ID for a period of 90 day.)

Video purchase not downloading properly

Newbie to ipod.
purchased 2 videos from iTMS & keep getting same error:
"THERE WAS AN ERROR DOWNLOADING YOUR PURCHASED MUSIC.
THE DISK COULD NOT BE READ FROM OR WRITTEN TO."
i've used the check for purchased music command & nothing happens. i wrote to iTMS support & their answer says it has to do with the permissions but they don't tell you how to solve it or change the permissions.
i've reviewed answered & unanswered postings for a solution.
the only thing i've learned is how to find the file where the videos are supposed to be ~ a file is there but for some reason it doesn't load into itunes.
i've also changed my firewall settings & NOTHING!
others seem to have the same problem.
i can use any help i can get!

Windows Installer not installed properly, then boots to safe mode w/no backlight?

I have only used my laptop for about 2 weeks.
I tried to download an Adobe Reader update, and I got a message that said "Windows Installer was not installed correctly."
I retarted my computer, but it would only boot in safe mode.
I tried a System Restore, but I got a message that said "System Restore doesn't appear to be functioning properly."
I tried to do a virus scan (just in case), but my computer will not connect to the internet, so that's not working, either.
I tried to restart once more, but as soon as I went to put my password in, the backlight on the laptop would shut off, and then it would only boot in safe mode.
I put the laptop away for a little while because my life got very busy and I didn't have the time to deal with it. Today, when I turned the laptop on to try and troubleshoot, it booted normally, and successfully- no safe mode, backlight still on- and then it told me that System Restore had worked.
What gives?
Anyone have any ideas what happened / what I did to make this happen / how I can avoid it in the future / if the computer is actually going to function properly or if it needs to be sent back?

When you restore the system earlier to back date it did not get complete and also Windows 7 has startup repair option which fixes the common startup bugs.

Text not saving properly in Acrobat Pro XI

I use Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. When I use the add text function, everything shows up correctly. I save the file and close it. Later on, when I open the saved file, some of the text (especially capital letters and symbols) show up as little boxes with an X in them. I have to highlight, cut, and paste everything in order for the text to show back up. Once it happens one time, it usually does not happen again. However, if I open up a document, fix the boxes, add additional notes, those notes then turn into boxed Xs the next time I open the document.
How do I fix this?

Is Acrobat 11 updated to the latest patch v11.0.09?
Does this happen with any specific font?
Try repairing Acrobat and check if it resolves the problem.

My TiddlyWiki is not saving properly in FF4.

I just upgraded to FF4. Now, when I try to save my TiddlyWiki after editing, it always fails to actually save. It tells me it has saved, but the next time I open the file, everything new is missing. Is there a fix for this?

I most often do not restart my new MBPro .... 10.9.5 ..... but happened to a day or so ago, and it immediately began to block / problem with email .... I waited to see if it sorted out, but no .....
I get he server “p06-imap.mail.me.com” cannot be contacted on port 993 ..... then deselected SSL and that did not help, so went back and selected it again .... and again not working .....
I can see my stuff "online" but I do not want to do it that way EVER .....
your "deselect mail" in ICloud preferences .... did nothing good for me .... any other thoughts Linc ?? in fact, some hundreds of in and sent emails did not show up .... I'm hoping they are going to when this gets fixed .... but hey, ..... right now I'm NOT in business ....

Illustrator CS6 files not saving properly as PDFs??

Prior to printing my work, I save PDF versions of my files. More often than I'd like, when I print the PDF file from my computer, some of the graphics do not print correctly. For example, a portion of a curved graphic (like a swirl) might be cut off leaving a blunt straight edge.
Does anyone else have issues with PDF files? Is there anything I can do to control this quality issue?

I had a similar issue, where a file saved in Illustrator looked incomplete when it opened in Preview (a colour logo was rendering in black only).
As far as I'm concerned, the point of a PDF is that it can be seen/read universally, so this is a fail, and opening it in a different program is no fix.
My workaround was to select and copy all the graphics in my Illustrator document, then open Photoshop and paste to a new document as a smart image. I then double clicked the smart image logo in the layers to edit it in Illustrator, from where I saved it as a PDF. For whatever reason this saved the PDF correctly.
Hope that helps somebody with the same issue in the future.

Ipod NOT restoring properly or being recognized in itunes!!!

so yesterday i was trying to (manually)update my ipod and then it somehow got messed up so i decided to just restore it. but when i went to restore it, after it 'restored' it normally says on the ipod to plug it into a wall outlet for the frim wire stuff or whatever but it never said that and it just went to the apple screen as if i had just reset it and then it automatically went into the 'do not disconnect' screen but it still wasn't showing up in itunes but it was showing up in my computer, so then i kept trying to restore it and still it never showed the 'plug into a wall' picture or anything until i finally just unplugged it once it was done restoring and just took it to be plugged in but that still didn't work. and i've tried uninstalling itunes and the updater but it doesn't uninstall, it's always still there and so i tried reinstalling itunes and the updaters but it doesn't seem to make any difference. help please???

no because normally, after the restore, the ipod screen shows a picture of you having to plug it in, and it never did, it simply showed the 'apple' picture (as if i reset my ipod) and then it automatically connects to my pc again and says 'do not disconnect'. and if i did quickly unplug it from my pc after completing the restore, and went to plug it in with my ac adapter thing, it wouldn't make a difference because it still shows the 'apple' picture as if i simply reset it.
