Purchasing A MacBook with Education Discount

Sorry if this is the wrong place, but...
I'll be picking up a new MacBook for my wife at an Apple Retail Store. She is a high school teacher, so she is eligible for the current rebate and iPod deal.
What do I need to bring with me to the store to prove she is what she is?

I just used the education discount to buy my MacBook and iPod. The apple store online was good for research, but going into the store and talking to a rep got me a free printer and significant discounts on MobileMe,iWork, and the Apple Protection Plan. It was definitely worth the fuel there.

  • Can you purchase a Macbook with upgrades in an apple retail store?

Hey guys, sorry but it just wouldn't show up in google..
I'm planning to make the big switch from windows to mac soon and I was planning to purchase the top-spec 15 inch Macbook Pro Retina.
I am planning to get the 1TB flash storage upgrade and I was wondering if I could purchase the Macbook with the 1TB upgrade in a retail store.
Do Apple Retail Stores provide top spec 15-inch Macbook Pro Retinas with upgrades in retail stores?

Would you know if there are any in Tokyo, Japan?
I'm going there tomorrow and I really can't wait to change my laptop. I was hoping to be able to purchase it there. It's just that it's going to be my first time
there and I don't know if they would have it available for me
This helped a lot tho, thank you!

  • Stolen MacBook Pro, can I buy a new one with educational discount?

I know this might not fit in this forum, but my question is:
I have a MBP purchased last October with my educational discount. I think it is the case that I can use my educational discount only once a year to buy an Apple computer. However, my MBP is stolen and I have copies of the reports from the police. Can I use my educational discount again even if its less than one year since my last purchase?
Also, is there a place I can register the stolen computer's MAC address or serial number so in case it goes back for Apple for a repair, it can be caught.
    Thanks,

*"Can I use my educational discount again even if its less than one year since my last purchase?"*
Nobody here can answer that with any certainty. You would need to ask Apple.

  • Buying a MB with education discount outside my country

I am a Belgian student who will go to Australia for an internship for a couple of months.
Since the AUD is way cheaper than the Euro, I would like to purchase a MB Pro in the online Apple store with the education discount. The fact is that I am not a student at an Australian university, will it cause problems to purchase a MB Pro in the online store of Apple Australia?

You likely won't have a problem. If you have a student ID that should be enough, regardless of what college you attend.

  • Buying macbook with student discount?

I'm going uni 20 september and discount offer states to order before 9 sept to get the discount. I'm on holiday until 16th sept. I'm getting the Air with upgraded 8 gig ram. Are my parents able to buy it on my behalf ( they have the official uni letter)? Or when im at uni on the network, can i order from there with the discount still?

As Joey R said, it's used on an honor system to get the computer at a discounted rate.
You do not need to send in any rebate forms to get the EDU discount. The Touch rebate you're referring to was a promotion that made it free (or greatly reduced) after rebate (much like they run with printers). You pay full price upfront and get a rebate form.
But as you noted, EDU discounts aren't rebates, they're discounts. Taken off at the point of purchase.
Just w/o the purchase of a MB, the Touch does not have an EDU discount. You happened to purchase the two when they were running that promotion. The EDU discount is for educational items only, and they deem that ipods are NOT education items (however the case could be made that they could be considered as such).

  • Able to get 3 year warranty with education discount directly from Store?

Hi, I was just wondering if it was possible to get the 3 year warranty that comes with the education discount when you order directly from the Store in person, rather than exclusively online?
I was under the impression that the 3 year warranty was online available if you ordered online, but I might be wrong!

You can definitely get AppleCare whether you purchase in-person or online.

  • When I buy a MacBook with Student discount, can I buy it in a physical Apple Store or do I need to buy it online?

Is there any way to buy a MacBook with this Students Discount and pick it up at a physical store? Because I don't have an address until now.
    Thanks !

Do you know if I can do that just with the Reception Letter from the university, in my name?
I'm arriving some days before classes and if I can, I'll buy a MacBook just when I get there!

  • Possible to purchase a MacBook with an international keyboard in the US?

    Hi,
I would like to purchase a new MacBook Air in the States but I have a very specific requirement.
The physical keyboard layout has to be an International English one meaning that the return key has to be L-shaped.
Is it possible to get such items in the US? Do they have these in stock in Apple Stores?
I will probably just ask for an item with an "L-shaped" return key but I'd be quite disappointed if they didn't have one.
I'm not going to buy the laptop online so only info about the physical stores is relevant to the question.
This is the layout I'm looking for:

You should contact an Apple retail store directly and ask if they can make a special order for you:

  • Can I purchase FormsCentral at an educational discount price?

I would like to use this to help manage my student files. Can I purchase at a discount?

    Hi;
No, FormsCentral pricing is the same for all, there are no discounts for educational or other.  The "annual" plan for the "Plus" level service is the best value and comes to 11.99/mo (paid as $143.88 annually)
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • Macbook with student discount

I've just finished my A levels and will almost certainly be starting university in october. The question is, do I have to wait till then if I want to get myself a student discount?
    Cheers,
    sd

Student discounts are only available for college and university students. Proof of enrollment is required when you place your order. So, yes, you will have to wait until you have officially enrolled in a university or college.
Why reward points?(Quoted from Discussions Terms of Use.)
The reward system helps to increase community participation. When a community member gives you (or another member) a reward for providing helpful advice or a solution to their question, your accumulated points will increase your status level within the community.
Members may reward you with 5 points if they deem that your reply is helpful and 10 points if you post a solution to their issue. Likewise, when you mark a reply as Helpful or Solved in your own created topic, you will be awarding the respondent with the same point values.

  • Buy a MacBook Pro using Educational discount and ISIC

    Hi,
I'm a Brazilian student and i'm traveling to US this month. Could I use my ISIC(Internacional Student Identity Card) to buy a MacBook Pro with Educational Discount?
Sorry for my poor english, I'm still learning this language.
    Thank you.

    Terms and Conditions:
Those eligible to purchase from the Apple Store for Education Individuals include faculty, staff, students and parents as follows:
K12 - Any employee of a public or private K-12 institution in the United States is eligible. In addition, school board members who are currently serving as elected or appointed members are eligible. PTA or PTO executives currently serving as elected or appointed officers are eligible.
Higher Education - Faculty and staff of Higher Education institutions; and students attending, or accepted into a Higher Education institution are eligible to purchase. Purchases from the Apple Store for Education Individuals are not for institutional purchase or resale.
It says that just who studies in a American K-12 institution is eligible for the discount. But I study in a Brazilian University, and for this I think that there is no restrictions. I just need to confirm this information.
    Could anybody help me?
I don't live in the USA, that's why I cant call for an Apple Store and ask this for them.
A MacBook Pro here costs something between 2000 and 2500 dollars, that's why I want to buy one in the US this month.

  • Mac Education Discount

I looked at the education store a while back, and it said that with education discount students also get an extended 3 year warranty (or something similar), but I can't see anything like that now. Is this still the case? Nobody I have asked so far seems to have a definite answer.
Also, is the pricing you see when you go on 'Select your university' and click 'Institution not listed? Shop now' the same as the pricing if you are connected to your university network? I have heard there are two tiers of education discounts, one for university and one for college students? The discount shown when I do click the 'Institution not listed? Shop now' link doesn't seem to be anywhere near the 15% the education discount is proclaimed to be.
    Thanks!
(I'm looking at buying a 13" MacBook Pro Retina, and am from the UK, if that makes a difference)

Well speculating on un-released Apple products is against the TOS here....but....I absolutely don't know why in the world Apple would release an OS update that won't run on hardware that's less than a year old.
Heck there's people running the current version on much much older hardware. In other words who knows? But if I was a betting man I'd say YES!

  • Transferring GB2 Projects to brand new MacBook with GB3 - How to???

    Hey everyone,
I just recently purchased a MacBook with GB3, glad to be a part of the community , but i would like to get some advice.
I have a lot (20 or 30) GB2 projects, with multitrack recordings from a studio mic, and i would like to transfer them to the macbook with GB3 and be able to work on them.
What files/folders/settings do i need to transfer to do this? I want to be able to edit the files as they were in GB2 on my old machine.
I have seen threads on here about how GB3 wont open after transferring files, and i dont want to wreck my setup on the new book.
    Any tips? How to?
    Much thanks in advance.
