Purchasing a mix (gapless) album on itunes?

will a complete mix album (gapless as on the original cd) be gapless if bought via itunes?

Possibly you might have to change the tracks to have "part of a gapless album" checked off, but I'd hope Apple already set that up for you.

  • Where can I find the gapless album option, Itunes 11.4

Tried to locate the gapless album option. Album bought on Itunes, 2second gap between all songs. Have no idea how to change even after reading posts.

    There is no gapless option.
If the album is gapless it will play as gapless.
This has always been the case. (since iTunes 7)
The ONLY thing that option did was to not fade songs over each other if it was checked AND songs on the same gapless albums were played consecutively.
It did not make the album gapless.

  • HT201272 I purchased and downloaded an album from iTunes but several of the songs on the album will not play correctly.  How do I fix this?

    Can I "re" download?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app (or video app) on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • HT1689 I purchased an album on iTunes & the songs were downloaded but only 1/2 of each song plays

I have purchased a couple of albums on iTunes for my iPod touch and when I play them both on my computer and on my device, some of the songs get cut off 1/2 way through the song and it automatically skips to the next song. Is there any way that I can get these missing song pieces from an iTunes purchased download

    Delete them and redownload by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • I purchased an album from itune, it's downloading the 5th of 7 songs and its stuck there for the last hour or so. how do i solve this. internet connection is good

HELP. i just purchased a couple of albums from itunes. It's downloading but got stuck on the 5th song of album 1. internet connection's good. it says that the file being loaded is an MPEG-4 audiofile. what could be the problem? what can i do about it? can i skip this particular file to download the rest?

If you're stuck on the part of the process where it says "Processing File" you're not alone.
I downloaded an entire album, and two songs were stuck on "processing file".
I'm pretty sure it's a problem on their end.
What's worse is that I couldn't even restart my computer normally - I had to hold down the power button for 5 seconds and force shut down everything.

  • Can I Export a Gapless Album?

    Hi,
I'm a musician who's just wrapping up work on an album of my own music I'd like to make available for download as a single, free, zipped file on my website.
I've got the songs set up with the desired pauses between them as a gapless album in iTunes. Most of the songs go right into the next with a few exceptions. (Adding time to the Options tab's Stop Time parameter seems to do the trick.)
Is there any way to export this album from iTunes? If I just drag the song files onto the desktop, will the Gapless and Stop Time settings be respected?
I haven't figured out a good, objective way to test this.
Does anyone know for sure how this all works?
    Thanks.

I don't know for certain, but I suspect that if you export the files as MP3, the whole files will be exported and each individual user would have to choose to make each song Gapless. I doubt the Stop times would be respected in the export.
Are you familiar with the program, Audacity? It's a free, open-source sound editor. Using Audacity (rather than iTunes), you could record and splice your songs (I highlight the portion I want to be a single track and then use File -> Export Selection as MP3). You might have success naming the tracks with track No then name for the sake of the zip file. You'd have to include instructions (a read-me) telling the user to make the files gapless.

  • Trouble downloading continuous mixed albums on iTunes

I recently purchased some mixed albums, iTunes downloaded the individual tracks just fine, but when it came to the continuous mixes it came up with an error (-1450) It said to check my connection, which is fine, and try again, but still the same result?
    Can anyone offer any solutions?

For gapless playback on Windows, it's as easy as foobar2000.
It's a pity that iTunes doesn't play back albums as one would expect, and I've communicated with Apple about this in a number of ways over the years, as have countless other users. I think the thing to keep in mind is that even if Apple corrected the inherent problems in iTunes and iPod, true gapless playback could still not be achieved except for files ripped directly from audio CDs in a gapless and lossless format (AIFF, WAV, Apple Lossless), or with files encoded using LAME or Nero's AAC encoder. This also means that every single album ever sold on the iTMS will never have the possibility of playing back without encoder-introduced gaps between tracks. Somehow I think it would go over like a lead balloon if Apple put out a huge press release stating that iTunes and iPod were now gapless playback-compliant, with the exception of any music bought from the iTMS or encoded with iTunes' MP3 and AAC encoders (in other words, pretty much anything in a given user's iTunes library). Well, I'd still be happy to hear the news, as I use LAME and Nero AAC
I finally bought my first iPod the other day, and knew what to expect from it. I've spent a vast amount of time preparing my music for gapless playback on the iPod, and I have to say it was a chore. My best friends along the way were PlexTools Professional, foobar2000 + foocuesheetcreator, Nero Digital Audio Reference Quality MPEG-4 & 3GPP Audio Codec, my PowerMac G4, cuetools, and AudioBinder.
So, now I've got perfect gapless playback on my new iPod and in iTunes.
What I'm waiting for at this point is for <a href="http://music.morbo.org/wiki/dop:start"foo_dop</a> to make some more progress reading Nero chapters in MP4/M4A album images.

  • ITunes 11 - Gapless Albums not working

I have some "gapless" albums in my Library. This should mean that when playing the album back, no pause or gap should be heard between each track on these albums. Apparently iTunes 11 identifies gapless albums, and dissables "Crossfade Songs" for these albums automatically (if it is enabled). iTunes should then string all the tracks on the album together to create on long performance, with no gaps (unless the recording itself has some quiet moments).
In iTunes 11, I have found for my gapless albums, there is a gap (no sound) after one track finishes and the next one starts. Also, I have found the option to turn on or off gapless album no longer exists - apparently it never did turn gapless on or off anyway, see this URI
    http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/music-audio-podcasting/290496-itunes-11-gapless -album-artwork.html
I switched off "Crossfade Songs" under "Playback Preferences" in iTunes Preferences, and then restarted iTunes. This made no difference, so I switched it back on again and restarted iTunes. Still, no difference - there are gaps.
Perhaps Apple should consider an option to "Enable" / "Dissable" / "Default" (Apple chooses the appropriate setting) gapless behaviour for each album, and let the listener decide and override if desired.

I just got off the phone with Apple support....
They have eliminated gapless playback of albums, so now EVERY song on a mixed DJ set or Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon (or millions of other albums) - each track will have a 1 second gap between them.  COmpletely ruining the way the album was meant to be listened to.
They reverse-engineered and went back to crappy playback like Android and Windows OS phones USED to do.  Doesn't make much sense does it?
I repaeat - do NOT upgrade to iTunes 11, you will be severely disappointed.
For those that have already upgraded and lost gapless playback, submit a Feedback request and demand for gapless playback to be brought back into iTunes ASAP!!!  FIll out the form here:

Thanks Chris but according to Pioneer, is was possible with the itunes in 2010.
It wasn't. (at least as far as setting Part of Gapless album goes. See next para.)
They claim that itunes will work if you select gapless album, part of a compilation
Selecting Gapless album does not make it gapless. (which is likely that now this option is removed - to not confuse people)
The ONLY thing that option did was tell iTunes to NOT crossfade consecutive songs from same gapless album IF you had crossfade enabled.
    -> http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1797
Setting the gap to 0 is what made it "seem" gapless.
Perhaps it is not working as it used to.
    Try a slower burn speed.
and used itunes to convert them to mp3
Dont know why they suggest this.
Simply use the WAV file. Then there will be no loss (as there is when converted to MP3).

  • TS1702 Hi, I bought The Truth About Love album on itunes as a complete my album from my Iphone4S.  I can see the name of the album as a purchase on my Mac Notebook 2004, however I am not unable to add the music to my itouch and is doesn't show up in music

    Hi,
I bought the Truth About Love/Pink's album on itunes as a complete my album purchase as I had bought a song from the album previously. I bought it via my Iphone 4S.  When I turn on itunes on my Mac Notebook 2004 (IOS X 10.4.11) I can see the album as a purchase but it is not listed in my library music nor can I add it to my Itouch 2nd generation.  Do you know why?  I can access the songs on my iphone but nowhere else.

They will only be on your computer's iTunes if you put them there. If you are in a country where you can re-download music then they should show under the Purchased Link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes. If they don't show there then you can connect your phone to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over.

  • HT201272 1 track from iTunes is only playing until 3:50 (should be 14:48). Rest of album is OK. Happens on computer & iPod. How do I fix that track? "Purchased (new)" on right side of iTunes doesn't give me a Music option - just Apps and Books.

    Hello,
I've purchased and downloaded an album from the iTunes store. It has 5 tracks. Tracks 1-4 are all fine. Track 5 is broken - it should have approx 15 minutes of music, but only plays to just under 4 minutes. This happens on my computer and on my iPod. How can I fix this please?
I've tried going to the "Purchased (new)" option in the quick links on the right hand side of the iTunes store. I thought I'd see an option for "Music" on the page it takes me to, but I don't get that option: I only see Apps and Books.
I'm using the computer that I purchased and downloaded the album from. It is authorised for this account.
I'm not aware of interrupting the download yesterday - it all seemed OK to me at the time and I thought it had completed successfully.
The album is Dvořák: Cello Concerto, Zuill Bailey, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra & Jun Markl. It's the last track (In Nature's Realm) that's got the problem.
    Thanks for any help.

Unfortunately you can't redownload music in all countries, as you have found.
You can however contact iTunes support regarding this issue here:

  • I purchased an album on iTunes and all songs downloaded, but one song is not associated with my Apple ID (I can't play it).

I bought an album from iTunes. All of the songs play except one. When I double click on it, a message comes up saying this computer is not authorized to play it, asking me if I want to authorize the computer. Yet when I log in with my ID, the response is that the computer is already authorized.  Then it skips to the next song. I have updated iTunes through software update and am using 11.0.4 (4). I have tried to reboot the computer but the situation stays the same.
I also deleted the file from iTunes to try re-downloading it. The song appears in my list of purchased songs, but when I try to download it again, I get an error message that says "This computer is already associated with an Apple ID. If you download past purchases with your Apple ID, you cannot auto download or download past purchases with a different Apple ID for 90 days." My options at this point are a "Transfer" button or a "Cancel" button. Transfer what? What is it talking about?? I purchased and downloaded the complete album at once, obviously with the same Apple ID---the ONLY Apple ID I have ever had and the ONLY Apple ID ever used on this computer! How is one song mysteriously associated with a different account? What is the point of purchasing music legally if it doesn't work? Can anyone help me get this song to play in iTunes? The other strange thing is that it plays just fine in finder.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

If only one track on the album is throwing that message, that suggests the track is damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • HT201272 How do I download previously purchased albums from iTunes when the album has either disappeared from my computer or the tunes are not playable?  The album shows as purchased on the iTunes store, but not available to download to my authorized devi

How do I download previously purchased albums from iTunes when the album has either disappeared from my computer or the tunes are not playable?  The albums show as purchased on the iTunes store, but not available to download to my authorized device.  I also have albums that appear in my library, but are not able to be added to my iPod from my computer

When you download something from the iCloud, it is a brand new licensed copy. Your iCloud account just contains a notation that you have this app. It isn't storing an actual copy of the app from your Mac.

  • I've purchased several comedy albums on itunes and they're sent to my music file, which I don't like since I like to shuffle all songs. I put the albums in audiobooks but each track is listed seprately instead of by album. Is there a way to fix that?

I've purchased several comedy albums on itunes (or uploaded from my cd collection) and itunes stores them in the music file. I prefer not to have them stored there since I often put my ipod on shuffle all songs and I hate having comedy bits pop up. So I went into "get info" of each track and changed it from music to audiobooks. That transfered everything into audiobooks but when I synched my ipod, I realized that the comedy tracks are all listed individually instead of under their albums. This doesn't work obviously since I want to listen to the album as a whole. I was wondering if there's a way to store my comedy albums in my audiobooks but have them stay in album format. Can anyone help me on this?

Try posting in a more appropriate forum, as this has noting to do with itunes U - the place where University/college/museums post education material.
