Purchasing iSkin eVo2 Click Wheel Caps in the UK...?

Hello folks,
Resident Furball here with a quick query. Apologies for posting in multiple locations, but I'm seeking an answer from the entire demographic of Pod users for this, given that it's something of an abstract query, and I need to play the numbers game :-))
Does anyone know where you can purchase Click Wheel Caps for the iSkin eVo2 in the UK?
iSkin sell these from their US site (http://www.iskin.com/accessories.html), but unfortunately the shipping to the UK is more expensive than the Click Wheel Caps themselves! Nowadays, iSkins come with Click Wheel Caps included, but I purchased my Skin before they did so.
Has anyone purchased a Click Wheel Cap in the UK, and if so, from whom, and how much did it cost...?
Many thanks in advance...
Kind regards,
Gopha.

Yeeks, elliptical click-wheel area?!!
If I manage to hunt one of these down in the UK, I will certainly post back and inform folks where. Usually places like Micro Anvika on Tottenham Ct Rd do a good job of getting the latest accessories and stuff in, well before the Regent St Apple Store, so a quick jaunt down there and a natter with one of my friendly sales reps should help elucidate this mysterious import.
I got my iSkin from the US (from the iSkin site), and it cost £20-£25 including shipping. This was just after the release of the Gen4 Pods, and 2-3 months before iSkin eVo2's were in the retail stores. So I suppose, we could expect the pricing to be similar to that of the iSkin store, + importing/shipping costs, but I'm hoping that I don't have to fork out £15 for 3 click wheel caps, that in effect I could get for £7 if someone nice got me some when they were Pondhopping.
Will keep you posted...!
Kind regards,
Gopha.

  • When I click on "Click Wheel Games' in the store it is blank. Why?

I am trying to purchase some new games for my iPod Classic 80g, and when I click on the Click Wheel Games under the apps tab in the iTunes Store.. The page does not load, it is just a white screen.. Is this happening for everyone? Is there something I can do? Is it just down for a while? I need answers.

I tried it, I get unknown error -50.  Everything else works fine, seems like that part is off line - try again later.

  • Troubles with the Click Wheel (or whatever the "technical term" is) HELP!

My iPod works pretty well, except for the click wheel (or whatever you wanna call it). It scrolls fine, but when it comes to trying to press the menu button, or even sometimes when I try to press the play, forward or backward button, it seems to think I'm pressing the center select button instead, selecting something on the screen instead..
If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it! (I posted one earlier but I'm new at this and was told I should make the subject more specific..
    Thanks!
    *Ace
(P.S. It's not the iPod with the four buttons across the top- it's one with just the wheel and the center select button)

    I still need help please!
When restoring the iPod, that erases everything on the iPod, correct? Would I then have to do all that stuff you have to do when you first get the iPod, like registration type stuff? Does this mean that everything in iTunes will be erased as well? (I have purchased a lot of music that is not on a CD..)
sorry, many questions in one... thanks for the help though!

  • Brought back click Wheel back from the dead

    Hello forum,
Newbie question from a newbie poster. I have a 40 gig Click Wheel that I had left for dead. I was able to get it working (hopefully not temporarily. My question for any knowledgeable user out there is; I haven't used this iPod since it failed on me 2 years ago and I've purchased a replacement 5th gen since. My desktop does not have the original install any longer for the the Click Wheel. What I want to do is re-install the install CD on a notebook running XP independent of my iPod/iTunes program on my desk top. If I do a fresh install on my notebook, will I be able to get the most current version of the software for my Click Wheel, if available on the support page? I noticed the current version I should be running in the help section and I would think it's more current than the one on the install disk. The other question is for my iTunes. Can I install the current iTunes version and not have to install any previous version? I'm assuming(hoping) that all bugs or fixes from previous upgrades are covered in the new version?
Sorry for the long winded post. I am anxious to get this iPod back to use.

ok, just give you a brief idea.
It used to have 2 software needed to install for the iPod, an iPod Updater and iTunes, but now we can install just one software i.e. iTunes and when we connect our iPod, it tells whether the software is the most update.
Try to download and install the latest version of iTunes here

  • Why isn't iPod click wheel games on the iTunes Store anymore?

I have an iPod nano 3rd generation and I want to put games on it but I can't find click wheel games anywhere on the iTunes Store, please say Apple hasn't discontinued them.

  • I bought movies on my ipad2 how do I transfer them to my computer? When I am in iTunes I have tried the transfer purchases, when you click on movies under the iPad nothing is there. I need to free up space, but don't want to loose my movies.

When I sync my iPad my movies don't show up on my computer... This is stupid, I am not going to turn my computer on every time I want to download a movie for my kids and then move it to my iPad... If this is the case I will be better off buying a portable DVD player! I just want my movies to show up on my iPad so I can move them to the computer. We have a 64 gig one and this is really disappointing! If this can't be fixed I won't be spending any more money on apples digital products. My devices are being used by kids and I need a way to back up what they don't save in iCloud!

Try here >  iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    iCloud doesn't support movies...

  • Hight of ipod and click wheel surface not the same

The highness of surface from my ipod itself and clickwheel is not exactly the same. clickwheel is a little bit higher which is irritating while using it.
I checked some other ipods (5g's) and some have exactly the same level all over the cover which gives a better feeling.
Is it a failure from production or just a question of allowed tolerances?
    Any experience with apple support?
    ipod video 30gb   Windows XP

After a lot of searching and working on this, I found the problem - and it wasn't my previously theorized conspiracy to get us all to buy more from Apple.... It was quite simple actually.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304508 I followed all of these directions including re-installing the dlls and the usb drivers, but I think the key was that I have multiple USB devices plugged into my computer. I unplugged all but my wireless keyboard. Then I used a different USB port for my iPod than I had tried before. It updated..... Yeah. I don't have to buy one of the new over priced fancy models!!!!

  • Problem with my ipod (4th gen i think, the one with the click wheel)

after i updated my ipod (its the old click wheel one with the black and white screen, brought in 2004) with update 3.1.1 (2006-03-23) i got some new songs that i brought from itunes and they worked fine. i left my ipod for a couple of days and it took a while to load which is usual and the apple symbol came up etc. the problem came after this having not turned it on when i do those new songs just skip and don't play. whichever way i try it, playing them in a playlist or straight from the album section or just as one song they do not play. i have rebooted my ipod and have the most recent version of itunes. the only way i can get these songs to play is by reconnecting the ipod to my computer which becomes a hassle if i have to do it every time i have left it. once i have done this they play fine until i leave it again and miss a day of not turning it on.
any help would be much appreciated but i am beginning to think that it is past all help.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. The hotness is symptom of a hardware problem

  • The infamous problem of the Click Wheel getting frozen

Since I've read a lot of stuff on the internet about this very common problem, and that nobody has found a solution, I wanted to start this topic in order to solve it through different experiences in the community.
I live in Spain, but bought my iPod nano in Canada last October, and I noticed the click wheel problem since the very beginning. Sometimes it got frozen, so I used the Hold Button to “reset” it and it worked again, but I have to say that it was very annoying to get this stuff stucked from time to time.
But in December, it started to get frozen more frequently, and now it happens every time I turn the iPod on. It responds to shaking, so I shake it and start listening to it in random play, and after some minutes (may be an hour, or may be never), and after many “Hold Switch slides”, I get it back working properly again. It normally keeps working fine for a while, but suddenly it can get frozen again.
Here is a list of observations I’ve made, despite the problem seems to be very randomly (sometimes it fixes 2 min before turning on, sometimes it gets an hour, sometimes it never unfreeze):
-Some people have said that it’s a moisture problem. Well, it is happening here, where humidity is high, but I was in a very dry place for Xmas and it happened the same way. But the fact that it works when it is hot rather than when it is cold is in support of this hypothesis.
-Some people say it’s some dirt between the wheel and the contacts. I tried cleaning the borders of the wheel and it didn’t worked.
-If I charge it full, it works immediately, but for a while
-Sometimes I turn it on and immediately touch the wheel and it works, but 1 sec latter it isn’t working again. Sometimes I turn it on and it doesn´t work at all.
-Of course I tried the “5 R’s” and a full restore. Reinstallation and updates of iPod software doesn’t work either.
    SO:
    1- Any suggestions?
2- Is Apple going to do something with this? (the problem is here since iPod Nano 2G). I’ve read somewhere that their policy is to tell you that the iPod is so cheap that you can buy another one (but it seems that is a serial problem so that irrational answers will not work)

    Some points to ponder:
It is very difficult to determine from Internet reports how common a problem really is for any product with a very high sales volume. If millions are sold, hundreds of reports still just represent a tiny fraction of them. Generally, if a problem really is inherent in its design or manufacture, a very high return rate follows & the maker is forced to correct it to stay in business.
Internet reports also suffer from the problem of not always providing enough info to determine if the issue is exactly the same in each report, or if it has the same cause. Quite often there are a number of "me too" reports that list no details or are too vague to determine much. Sometimes a follow up reveals that user error, abuse, or post-manufacturing damage is involved in some of the reports.
This is not meant to imply that real problems in design or manufacture don't exist, only that it isn't a good idea to make overly broad assumptions about commonality without sufficient information.
You have provided a lot of useful info about your own experience, enough to rule out some of the theories & to make others seem much less likely. But it is still important to consider that those theories may explain some of the reports & that the same symptom does not mean the same cause must always be involved.
With that out of the way, here is what I see as a synopsis of the symptoms you observe:
    • The frozen scroll wheel problem was intermittent but occurred from day one of ownership
    • It got worse over time & now occurs every time the iPod (Nano?) is powered up
    • Toggling the Hold switch repeatedly seems to temporarily cure the problem
    • Performing the 5 R's has no effect
    • Cleaning the borders of the wheel has no effect (details?)
    • The problem doesn't occur if the iPod is fully charged (details?)
    • Weather effects may be involved somehow but not in an obvious way
If this is accurate, it would be useful to know how many other users see any of the same things, or if they see something substantially different.
Also, note that the participants in this forum are just users & cannot know what if anything Apple will do about this issue. The terms of use prohibit our discussing Apple policy so all we can do here is try to uncover as many facts as we can about when the symptoms occur & what does & doesn't work to resolve them.

  • Click wheel games, can't find them

A while ago i downloaded a click wheel game. But I can't find them in the iTunes store anymore. Does anyone know where they went? Can I still download them?

OH NO!!!  PLEASE put the click wheel games for the iPod classic!  I know you want to discontinue the older iPod and have everything with the touch interface, but there are still a lot of people with the older equipment out there -- please don't throw them under the bus!  There were several games I wanted to purchase for my iPod classic -- I thought I'd have time to do that -- arrgghh!  Please put the games back up for a week or so!  You should make an announcement that on such and such a date you will discontinue those games -- not just pull it without any notification!  :-(

  • Click wheel stuck

My iPod nano 5th gen click wheel doesn't work. I think I spilled a small amount of something sticky (like coke) and it got through the crack and beneath the wheel. I can scroll by circling my finger but the iPod doesn't respond when i press the buttons (click wheel). I can still use the iPod by tilting it horizontally and using album scroll, but the inability to use the click wheel and access the main menu is very annoying. Is there a way to safely remove the wheel and clean it out? Anyone else have this problem and know of a solution that doesn't involve buying a new device or paying apple $80 for a phone call? Ay help is much appreciated!
    -Adam

Thanks, Chris. I can't even get the iPod to reset, as the menu button no longer functions, nor does the select button. The only ones that work are previous, next and play/pause. I have no scrolling ability. I had problems with this before but had always been able to at least reset it, but no longer. I am still under warranty and so I am going to see if they can fix it. It's very annoying! I haven't done anything with the iPod outside of listening to it in the house, I've kept up to date with all the updates for the thing and for iTunes. Given how many people are having the same problem (and oddly enough, at around the same time!), it looks like it's a fault with Apple. I hope they fix/replace it, although since it's an iPod mini, I am wondering what they will do now that it's discontinued! Very, very frustrating as I use it everyday.
Thanks for pointing me to the other thread though.

  • App Store Filtering? Can I see list of Apps for Click Wheel Interface iPods

It's very convenient that Apple has made it easier to find Click-Wheel Games for the iPod Nano and other models sporting the click-wheel interface.
Does anyone know some way to filter Apps so one can determine what other (non-game) apps are compatible with the Click-Wheel interface? I would think one would also want to be able to filter on iPhone, iTouch, or iPad.
    Basically, a compatibility filter.
    Thanks.

Does anyone know some way to filter Apps so one can determine what other (non-game) apps are compatible with the Click-Wheel interface?
There's only about 18 games compatible with the click wheel iPods so there;s really nothing to filter.
If it works on an iPhone/iPad/touch, it will not work on the click wheel iPods and vice-versa.

  • HELP-40GB i-pod with scrolling click wheel

ok first of all, i got this new computer. I dowloaded itunes onto it. I want to plug in my i-pod into my new comp but im afraid that all my songs will be deleted. I have all my songs on my other computer, but the other computer isnt working. I also need to plug it into the new comp because a little folder with the ! comes up every once and a while. Also, my i-pod begins to play a song then it stops and it goes to the next song, this is related with the menu icon and the !. Now all of a sudden i press the MENU button and the apple logo pops up then it just turns back off. WHAT DO I DO? i want to keep all my songs, but at the same time im afraid that if i plug it into the new comp all my songs will disappear. Also why is my i-pod just shutting off when i turn it on?
I-pod with the scrolling click wheel   Windows XP

The first thing that anyone is going to suggest to you in respect of the folder and ! error is to reset your iPod and/or restore it. Restoring the iPod will erase anything that's stored on it and return it to factory settings. You may not have any choice but to do this.

  • "Strange" click wheel behavior

    Hi,
I recently bought myself a 60Gb Video iPod (my first iPod) and I've noticed that sometimes the first press of a button (play/pause, menu etc) is ignored, if I press it again (or a different button) it works fine. This happens both when the iPod is playing music and I've not pressed anything for a while and when I press a button to wake up the iPod.
It is almost like the click wheel buttons go to sleep and the first press wakes it all up.
I've tried resetting it and the hold button is definately off, I've tried recalibrating the click wheel by sliding the hold button on then off and it still does it. It is using the 1.0 software but I am reluctant to update to 1.1 as I've read about some of the problems being reported.
Is this actually "normal" operation or is something wrong ?
    Many Thanks
    Barney

I noticed that sometimes there is a "lag" after pushing the wheel too many times in a row too fast. I think this is normal. But my clickwheel has stopped clicking by itself a few times also. Oh well...

  • Where can I buy IPod Nano Click Wheel games?

I have the Ipod Nano 5th generation, and I can remember that a year ago, you were able to buy Click Wheel games in the ITunes Store. Recently I've got a $15 giftcard and wanted to buy some Click Wheel games, but I couldn't find the games anymore. Can someone please help me?

    Nowhere. Apple stopped selling them.
