Purchasing January Update for 2 iPods on Same Account

Question

My wife and I each have an iPod Touch which we sync on separate computers but share the same iTunes Account (so that we can sync each others purchases). I purchased the January update from my computer and installed on my iPod without issue, but I could not purchase the update again from my wife's computer; iTunes stated that I had already purchased the update.
I would like to avoid creating a new iTunes Account for my wife just so that the software update would work, since we are sharing our purchases. Is there another way to purchase and install the update from the same iTunes Account into separate iPods?

Find the Update file in
Mac OS X:
~/Library/iTunes/Mobile Applications
Windows XP
C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\Mobile Applications\
Windows Vista:
C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming
Apple Computer\iTunes\Mobile Applications\
Note: These locations are hidden by default in Windows. You can these locations by choosing "Show hidden files and folder" in the View tab of the Folder Options Control Panel.
Copy it and put it in your wife's computer under that file and sync
