Purchasing Shake now that is isn't supported.....worth it?

I understand that Shake is no longer officially supported by Apple and hasn't been for some time. I haven't walked into an Apple store in a while but I imagine that its no longer sold there. But doing some searching on ebay, I have found some copies of it for sale.
At this point, though, is it worth getting for a "newbie"? I would like to get into some of the serious compositing and other features of Shake, and I have a Mac Pro that definitely has the horsepower to run the software, but I also have my system set to get software updates automatically and so have the most up-to-date OS. Has this presented a problem for other people?
I'd love to get it, but don't want to be throwing money down the drain if it isn't going to work on my system.

Shake is pretty amazing. It has held up well with updates to Snow Leopard
and the i series processors, and its nodal approach is ideal for compositing
and effects. When looking at the price, keep in mind that it will never
be updated and may someday stop working.
On the other hand, it runs on multiple cores and offers a truly professional
environment. It ends up being an inexpensive way to learn the art of
compositing and special effects, knowledge which you take with you
as the software landscape shifts through time.
What are the alternatives? Nuke is probably the closest ($4500).
After Effects and Motion offer a lot of the functionality, but with
a clunky timeline interface. Smoke offers incredible power
and speed and it's only $15,000.
A significant alternative may be 2011 FCS. You could wait to see
how wonderful it is. Many essential functions in Motion and Compressor
have been gleaned from Shake, so it's possible Apple may come up
with the last nail in its coffin soon.
But it's a wonderful piece of software.

Do you mean Bluetooth?
If you are trying to activate your iPhone you need to use iTunes.
There's no need to "pair" an iPhone with a Mac. Syncing, restoring, backing up, apps/ music / photos etc., is all done with iTunes.

But why if you're running 10.6 do you need to do this? AW works fine in 10.6 with Rosetta.

Since upgrading to Mav, I can not get the program to launch and am getting no pop up to tell me what is going on. It let me open and start a project at first, but then I was half way through and it crashed and I lost everything and now will not launch at all. Does anyone out there still use this magnificent program? Please help—the wedding I just commissioned is on hold and I am not want looking forward to facing a bridezilla.

right now just to get yer work done, get ahold of any OS that will run iM6HD and get it done. then dump MAVRICKS (wait till 10.9.2 at least) and retro back to OSX 10.6..or 10.7 (if you have it). I use FCExpress4 on 10.6....you might want to consider keeping a dedicated mini or something that ONLY runs your editing sw. I have 2 older machines that I will never upgrade because the editing SW wont run on the newwer OSs.
abuve all, be honest with your client. we all got kind of blindsided by this initial relese (like a bug infested matress).
ask if they have any apple stuff that has Mavricks probs. bridzillas only happen when they are out of the loop. Keep them informed. but ...also be ready to duck.

I get a message that something isn't supported by "this architecture"

I am trying to install a new printer and when I insert the software disc a message comes up saying it can't open it due to the wrong "architecture". I have never heard of this before! The disc plainly states that is supports OS 10.5.8.

Thank you, I do have an older 10.5.8 that doesn't have Intel, so that seems to be the problem! (Want to buy a brand new printer? )
The printer is an Epson XP-610, and the disc said OS 10.5.8, so word to the wise with old computers!

Intermittent "HDCP isn't supported by your HDMI connection" message

I downloaded a movie with the new Apple TV 2.0, and every once in a while, the screen will go black with a message stating that "HDCP isn't supported by your HDMI connection. This content requires HDCP for playback. Use the component video connection to watch this content.". Not only is this not the case, but it happens very happenstance.
Is this happening to anyone else? If not, does anyone have any ideas as to why, or better yet, to solve it?
On another note- the fact that you can use the Apple TV for AirTunes now, freaking rocks.

So I'm taking this to mean that my receiver is very picky about the HDMI protocol, and the ATV isn't quite conforming to it. Maybe other brands of receivers are passing the signal?
I suspect I probably won't have much choice for now but to either connect the ATV to the Denon using component cables and an optical cable for 5.1, or use HMDI directly to the TV for video and an optical cable for 5.1 audio.

How can I Migrate/Split itunes/icloud account for a large family now that they have family sharing

Ok, now that Apple has finally come out with family sharing I need to get things sorted out and I think it is going to be a mess. I have 6 family members (my spouse and 4 children) all sharing/using one itunes account. For parental reasons this made perfect sense. Now with the the advent of family sharing and such we have alot of sorting and migrating to do and I am very unsure how to go about it. Here is what we have.
Myself - I have a 64GB iPad 3 and a 64GB iPhone 5
Spouse - 64GB iPhone 5
Children - x4 16GB iPhone 5C (pink, blue, green, and a yellow)
We have had one itunes account now for several years, we used to have x4 16GB iphone 4's and a 16GB iPod touch 4 so we needed it to be shared at the time. We all have different Game Center ID's and Facetime/iMessages are all setup to the phone numbers (aside from mine which also uses the itunes e-mail). We currently have 1 upgraded icloud account with 200GB of storage on it (love the new tiers). So here are the questions.
1) How do I go about using and isolating all the devices so they can all use the iCloud storage? Right now if I try and setup backups by device under the what to backup there is no simple "Full Backup" option, they have all the categories separated. I cannot backup my daughters contacts without forcing a merging of them and so on. Same thing with Documents and Data. Would I need to setup a different iCloud account for each device now?
2) iTunes Music/App purchases. Now that they have a family sharing function I am assuming it would be a good time to separate all the devices (aside from my personal iPad/iPhone). If I understand correctly we need to setup a new itunes account for each and link them with family sharing, does this then allow us to disperse/move items from a singular to the multiple account (at least a one time option to move around) or would it simply be shared off the original account? My daughter for example will be 18 next summer and as such no longer under our care. How do we move her items to her account? She has a lot of purchased Music. Now keep in mind I am talking about an account for someone who was 12 when she had her first device and as such needed to be under her parents.

If you can't install Windows 7 or higher or get a new computer with Windows 7 or higher, you won't be able to run Photoshop Elements 13.

See the confirmation email or covering letter to obtain the serial number. If you have lost it, contact the supplier.

Whenever I plug my iPhone into the car charger (professionally installed and hardwired), it comes up with the yellow triangle and exclamation mark saying that this accessory isn't supported.   It's been working quite fine since 2010, now it's not.

My iPhone car charger was professionally installed in 2010 and again in 2013 and had been working perfectly for all of this time, now it's coming up with the yellow triangle and the text saying that this accessory isn't supported.    Is there an easy way to fix this without tearing everything to bits?    It all appears to have gone boonta about 3 upgrades ago and I haven't been able to use it since.
I've seen and tried the suggestions on Google, none of them work for long, and I'm certainly not going to tear the car kit or phone apart to overcome something that is obviously a software issue.    Surely Apple can overcome this?
And the bloody "Terms and Conditions" fiasco!   55 pages of mumbo jumbo that nobody would read EVER, and you get to the end and nothing happens.   I've bought an app from Apple to use on their product and I can't install it because the Terms and Conditions doesn't accept anything.   Surely they can fix this?
