Purchasing the Lightroom 6 (LR6) Standalone application as an upgrade in the UK.
When attempting to purchase LR6 as a standalone upgrade rather the full version from the UK there are no prices available. See link.
Not everyone wants to sign up to monthly subscriptions for the CC Photography Suite so does anyone know when Adobe UK will release a LR6 Upgrade package?
If you click buy (where the full price is display), it takes you to a sub menu. Select "Upgrade", then the version of Lightroom your upgrading from, the upgrade price will then be displayed (£59.09)

Usually there is a upgrade path for current users of the software at a reduced price. I dont see anything like that for Lightroom 6. Will I have to pay full price just to upgrade to the new LR6 standalone version???
The standalone upgrade is 79 US Dollars.

The Lightroom Manual is Not Clear on Options for the White-Balance Tool
In the section "Working with image tone and color" the Lightroom manual states:
Specify a neutral area in the photo
1. In the Basic panel of the Develop module, click the White Balance Selector tool to select it, or press the W key.
2. Move the White Balance Selector into an area of the photo that should be a neutral light gray. Avoid spectral highlights or areas that are
100% white.
3. Set options in the toolbar as needed.
Sets the White Balance Selector tool to dismiss automatically after clicking only once in the photo.
Displays a close-up view and the RGB values of a sampling of pixels under the White Balance Selector.
Zooms the close-up view in the Loupe...."
Item 3 is unclear. I selected the white balance selector, and moved it to an area as instructed,
but I cannot find any toolbar with the options described.
How do I get to this mysterious toolbar?? Everyone seems to think its a simple thing, but I cannot find it and I am not able to set any of the options described!
While I am sure this is a simple thing, I think that the manual should be much more clear about this description; what is there now is very inadequate.It should be directly underneath the image preview - press the T key if it's not there.

my up to date iMac can not read the lightroom 5 installation dvd I received for christmas, the dvd player works fine with other dvd's, is there a way to download the program with the dvd's serial number?
No need to worry about the disk version. You would just have to install an update anyway as soon as it was installed. Download from the link provided below and use the serial number you have to activate.

He shouldn't have done that. Now you have a pirated version of iMovie on your Mac that you will never be able to update. The MAS Terms of Use do not allow that type of sharing. His Apple ID is encoded in the copy on your Mac and you can't change that.
Legally you should delete the app.
Your Mac should have come with the iLife apps pre-installed, why did he do that? -
Why do I constantly get the msg...Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding? I just upgraded to the IOS 8.2. Nothing else seems to be affected.
Try some basic troubleshooting:
(A) Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
(B) Try reset all settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings -
When I try to upgrade to the latest version from 5.7 the price shows as 50% of the full price. Is this the way to proceed, I meant the price is too high for the upgrade. Any solution to solve this problem?

Why is the Lightroom preview folder so big, even after purging the 1:1 previews?
1:1 or full-size previews take up a large amount of HD space, often many 10's of GB's. This is why building them on demand is an alternative to building them up front, and why you have options for auto or manually purging them. That said, it may not always be possible to delete 1:1 previews - more later.
Standard-sized previews are based on the pixel size option you chose in Catalog Settings. You have 4 choices: 1024, 1440, 1680 and 2048. If all you want is standard-sized then choose a size equal to or greater than your screen size. Lr also builds smaller versions at the same time. These are used for the thumbnail, 1:2, 1:3 and 1:4 zoom levels. Adobe call this the "preview pyramid".
1:1 previews will not be deleted unless your chosen standard-sized preview is less than half the size of the full-sized preview. For example, you have images with pixel dimensions of 3072 by 2048 pixels (6MP camera such as Canon 10D) and have selected 1680 pixels for standard-sized previews. Since a 1680 pixel preview is more than half the size of the original the full-sized preview will be kept, even after using the purge 1:1 preview command. Had you chosen 1440 pixel for standard-sized previews then the full-sized would have been purged (i.e. 3072/2=1536, which is greater than 1440). Now take the example of a larger camera, say a 8MP camera such as the Canon 1DMKII with an image size of 3504 by 2336 pixels. With the standard-sized set at 1680 pixels the full-size will again be purged (i.e. 3504/2=1752 pixels, which is greater than 1680 pixels).
Another thing worth mentioning - Lightroom will usually delay purging previews for deleted images until after the application has been closed and reopened, even then it might take a few minutes to clear the purged previews. The idea here is to ensure the previews don't get deleted whilst there's still a chance that they may be needed (e.g. you removed images by mistake then use Undo command to reinstate them).
Hopefully above explains why Lightroom doesn't behave as you expect. If it makes your head spin, think how much mine spun when writing it.The chance of an answer is inversely proportional to the length of the posting. ;)
You do not indicate what your preview setting was while you accumulated a 12Gb preview folder. Nor do you indicate how many images are in your catalog.
Given your screen size of 1280 (laptp?) I would set the preview size to 1440 since this is still far less than half of your D3 images.
Cropping - I'll safely guess - has no effect on your preview size choices.
I confess that preview sizing and purging is confusing. I avoid the confusion by shouting "more disk, mama". -

I have the new version of Itunes and have upgraded from 1st gen. Ipod to 4th gen. Ipod touch, I am unable to sync all my music from my old Itunes to my new Ipod, also when I try to play the music on the computer through Itunes it says it needs to be authorized but keeps using my Old email account (which I don't have anymore) for me to authorize, is there a way to fix/ change this so I don't have to buy that music over again?

I have the original iphone on AT&T with the $20 unlimited data with 200 text messages. I know that I can keep the unlimited data plan when I upgrade to the iphone 4s, but I would also like to keep my 200 text message plan. Is there any way for me to keep this feature? Also on the original Iphone, I could upgrade to the unlimited data plan with 1500 text messages, if I upgrade this feature, will it extend my contract?

The old extreme was working as part of the extended network when the New Extreme Base it had the 7.7. version, now amber just blinks away.
I tried hooking up an Airport Express and have the same problem.
Any pointers?Ensure that the ethernet is connected to the WAN port (with the dotted circle).
You may have to reset and reconfigure your Airport Extreme. -
Lightroom 6 (standalone) & Application manager crash on startup (Mac)

I bought LR6 (perpetual licence, upgrade from LR5) yesterday and installed it flawlessly on my iMac Retina.
Since it's allowed to have it installed on 2 machines - though not running it at the same time - I tried to install it as well on my MacBook Pro Retina (2012) and........
The first time LR opened on my laptop, it managed to create a new catalog. Cool. Then...
When I closed and try to reopen LR multiple times, it crashed on startup.
I uninstalled and reinstalled it, and it wouldn't open any catalog or create a new one.
Crash happens before LR opens, so I have no way to update to latest version that's supposed to fix startup issues
More interesting: after reinstalling again, even the Adobe Application Manager wouldn't launch. Says that it doesn't have writing permissions to folder Library/Application Support/Adobe
This folder contains 3 sub-folders: AAMUpdater, Lightroom and OOBE. Dunno if something is missing there.
I checked the folder permissions in the Finder (they were correctly set, as I obviously am the admin of my computer) & ran the disk utility twice to check & repair permissions. No change.
I also extensively read this existing thread (Lightroom CC crashes) and this link (Lightroom doesn't launch or closes automatically after splash screen), but none of them worked for me.
LR5 is still installed and works fine.
OS is Yosemite 10.10.3 and all updates done.
Can any of you kindly help me with this?

I'm assuming from your information that you can start the program, and see the AE workspace - but then if you try to create a project or anything it crashes? Is that correct? or are you not even getting the workspace?
Have you tried starting AE with ALL other applications closed? (make sure there is no conflict with anything else)

You need the installer file that you downloaded, or the installer CD, to install LR on a new computer. You will need to have your serial number handy. There is no "deactivation" of Lightroom on the old computer, nor is there an "activation" of Lightroom on the new computer.
