Purge cache on Bridge CC

Hi,
My CC Bridge is not running well as it asks for the caches to be purged. When I try to do so in the preferences settings, the program gets stuck.
How can I fix this glitch?
My account is [email protected]
Thanks.

  • Problem purging cache with Bridge CS6

When I open Bridge CS6, I get a message that the cache needs to be purged.  When I initiate the purge, the program hangs, and I have to Force Quit.  How can I resolve this?

You posted in the Photoshop forum by mistake.  I've moved your post to the Bridge forum where you are more likely to get answers about Bridge issues.

  • Error Message: Need to purge Cache in Adobe Bridge CC (on PC)

I tried purging using Adobe Bridge by going to Edit/Preferences/Cache then purging, but it becomes non responsive.  The error message said the problem files were at Users/(my user name)/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/BridgeCC/Cache.   There are 4 files in there that are taking up 124 GB!  Can I simply delete these files or will it corrupt my regular files?  I tried doing as some other forums suggested and hold the ALT key down when opening Bridge before purging, but no luck.

Yes, you can delete the cache files manually,  Just be advised that Bridge will become very, very slow until it finishes rebuilding its caches.  Depending on your files, that can take a few minutes or several hours.
A good way of doing it is at night, so you can do it before going to bed and let Bridge rebuild caches overnight.
If you can, save the cache files before deleting them to an external drive, so that you'll have them as backup if something goes wrong.

I have problem with adobe bridge cs6. Every time I open it Bridge tells me to Purge Cache. I have CS6 on two computers and it works fine on one of them. I have tried to reinstall it without succeeding to fix the problem. Does anyone have the same problem and a solution to it?
"Bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache. Please try purging the central cache in Cache Preferences to correct the situation."

You must have a Mac.  Try this.
Quit Bridge, from user library (NOT system and root library) preferences folder find and delete the com.adobe.bridge5.plist file manual. Do this also in same user library caches folder (Caches/Adobe/Bridge CS6) and inhere find and the folder called 'cache' and drag it to the trash.
restart Bridge holding down option key and choose reset preferences, then try again.

  • Bridge CC is asking my to 'purge cache'. When I do this doesn't work and freezes my mac. Bridge is unable to work at all. Please help?

When I start up Bridge CC I get a error message instructing me to purge cache in preferences which I do but it doesn't work and freezes my mac. I cannot curretnly use Bridge CC. PLease help as this is costing me time and money - thank you in advance....

Hold down the Option key as you launch Bridge, keep it down until you see a dialog box, then click all three options in the re-set box that comes up.
If you don't see that re-set box, you're doing it wrong, i.e., you're not holding the Option key down fast enough.

  • Bridge CC asks to Purge Cache but freezes when I try to do so

Am using Bridge on a MAC. Each time I open Bridge an error message comes up requesting to Purge Cache via preferences - But when I try to do this, it freezes.
In fact, even before trying to purge cache, if I try navigating to another folder on Bridge it also freezes.
Have trashed Bridge, downloaded it again and reinstalled - problem continues.
    What should I do?

    Yes that worked - THANKS.
I created a new cache folder and deleted the other - and now it works!
I had to show hidden files via terminal to delete the previous cache folder.

I am having trouble with the cache in bridge.  When i open I get a message saying bridge has encountered a problem reading the cache try purging in the central cache to correct the situation.  I did that but now when I try to get to the folders where my photos are stored bridge never gets to where I can work.  The message appears "building criteria" and I get an endless loop on the lower left panel.  How do I correct?

You correct it by leaving Bridge alone until it finishes rebuilding its cache, overnight if necessary.

  • Bridge CC hangs upon opening, suggests purging cache which dies nothing except make issue worse

Have had issues with Bridge becoming increasingly and painfully slow in loading/previewing its thumbnails on all machines in the studio.
We have purged cache as per suggestions from the opening error messages but this has only made matters worse to the extent that now it wont load its previews at all.
Ive reinstalled Bridge three times now. Even after reinstalling Bridge still retains last folder browsed information and will attempt to navigate to that folder regardless what you are trying to select.

Maybe a Preferences reset can help:
Numerous program settings are stored in the Adobe Bridge preferences file, including display, Adobe Photo Downloader, performance, and file-handling options.
Restoring preferences returns settings to their defaults and can often correct unusual application behavior.
Press and hold the Ctrl key (Windows) or the Option key (Mac OS) while starting Adobe Bridge.
In the Reset Settings dialog box, select one or more of the following options:
      Reset Preferences
Returns preferences to their factory defaults. Some labels and ratings may be lost. Adobe Bridge creates a new preferences file when it starts.
    Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache
Purging the thumbnail cache can help if Adobe Bridge is not displaying thumbnails properly. Adobe Bridge re-creates the thumbnail cache when it starts.
    Reset Standard Workspaces
Returns Adobe predefined workspaces to their factory default configurations.
Click OK, or click Cancel to open Adobe Bridge without resetting preferences.

  • Dialog box says-"Bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache. ... purge central cache" For one, I can't find the central cache and two, I've purged the cache in bridge. Shouldn't that help.

Our Bridge has been acting very strange. It keeps giving a dialog box of "Bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache. ... purge central cache" For one, I can't find the central cache and two, I've purged the cache in bridge. Shouldn't that help? There's just all kinds of weird stuff going on. I suppose it does have something to do with the central cache, so maybe someone can tell me where to find it.
When I use the burn/dodge tool sometimes it drags and staggers and takes forever to complete whatever I'm burning/dodging. When I try to delete an image from the dock, it won't disappear but it won't display either.
    Any help would be appreciated.

The Central Cache is the Bridge Cache.
It's referred as the Central Cache to differentiate it from the individual folder's cache or even the individual image cache.

  • PS6: get message, purge cache in preference while using Bridge, everything freezes.

message says: please try purging the central Cache preference to correct situation. This comes up in Bridge.
I tried the purge, but nothing happens, Bridge freezes, and I can't exit out.

Restart Bridge holding down Ctrl (win) or Cmd (mac) and choose reset preferences and purge cache.

  • Bridge cs3 , how can i purge cache manually

    Hi
i plan to clean the bridge cs3 cache
i would like to re-install but before make a fresh install
where does bridge cs3 store cache & other stuff (i can delete)
    thanks

You would get a better response to Bridge questions by posting in the Bridge Fourm at http://forums.adobe.com/community/bridge/bridge_windows.
You can purge the cache within Bridge in the edit/preferences/cache window.  Here is also where you set where you want the cache to be.  But if you are going to re-install what is the point, it starts from 0 anyways.

  • Purging the central cache in Bridge

When opening Bridge I am getting the message: "Bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache. Please try purging the central cache in Cache Preferences to correct situation."
I have a system of very extensive labels in Bridge and it would be a major problem for me to lose the labels. My question is, if I select in preferences "Purge Cache", will this affect the labels and ratings in my files?
I also found where I can hold the Option key on Mac when starting Bridge. It appears this gives options to "Reset Preferences" and/or "Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache". If I select "Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache" but NOT "Reset Preferences" will this result in purging the cache but not affect my labels?
From my research it definitaly appears I need to avoid resetting preferences while purging thumbnails. On the forum it states:
    Reset Preferences
Returns preferences to their factory defaults. Some labels and ratings may be lost. Adobe Bridge creates a new preferences file when it starts.
    Bridge CC 6.0.1.6
    OSX 10.8.5

Like I stated earlier Mac's seem to have more problems with cache than win sys.
    Try this
Quit Bridge, from user library (NOT system and root library) preferences folder find and delete the Bridge5.plist file manual. Do this also in same user library caches folder (Caches/Adobe/Bridge CS6) and inhere find and the folder called 'cache' and drag it to the trash.
restart Bridge holding down option key and choose reset preferences, then try again.
Here is doc on resetting pref.  http://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/kb/resetting-bridge-preferences-using-command.html
From posts I have read lables can just dissapear for no reason.  You do have backups don't you?
Have never heard from anyone that they have lost labels with resetting prefernces.
