Purple Camera Lens Crack -- Covered?

I'm not sure if this is a question anyone can help with, but about a month ago I noticed a mark showing up in my iphone photos. At first I thought it was a dead pixel, but I realized when I zoomed in that it was purple which can only mean its a microscopic crack or scratch in the camera lens. >.<
Idk how it got there, but it's definitely a huge eye sore in my photos. Any advice on what to do in this case?
Is this something that would be covered by my phone insurance (my provider is at&t) or something I could visit the Apple Store to have fixed? or is that only covered by Apple Care?

I went to the Apple Store here in Sweden with the same problem. The genius looked at the phone for 2 seconds and then said they would replace it. No other questions or trouble at all.

  • Iphone 6 camera lens cracked

I have the iPhone 6 with that "awesome" sapphire camera lens, although I dropped it slightly below pocket level, when i was locking my apartment door. It landed on my doormat, which isn't the softest, but not has hard as the concrete. Everything was fine, but very minor scratches to the back, top left corner and one small nick on the top of the lens that sticks out... and of course the lens cracked in half.
You can't tell in pictures unless there's a strong light shining directly into it.
Does anyone know if this is covered under my Apple Care+ or how I can fix it?
Thanks a lot, I really appreciate any responses.

According to http://gizmodo.com/5846658/new-applecare%252B-for-iphone-dropping-klutzes you just might be covered. Take it to Apple Store and ask them.

    Howdy Abhi131313,
Based on your iPhone's camera lens being cracked, it appears your iPhone needs to be serviced. The following link should help you get started with the process and has links with additional information on topics such as warranty and service pricing, battery replacement, and express replacement service.

  • What can I do? I bought a new iPhone 6 and noticed the camera lens is cracked 4 days later?! No drops or falls.

What to do when I realize my new iPhone has two cracks in the camera lens. It does not affect picture taking but still very frustrating when this phone was just purchased and picked up less than a week ago. There has been no drops or bangs to the phone which makes me believe it had to be there when I picked it up at the Verizon store. What am I to do? I'm thinking maybe I should go with an iphone 5 if this happened so quicily with the iPhone 6. I have never ever damaged a phone from wear and tear!

The lens cover on the iPhone 6 rear camera is sapphire. It doesn't get any better than that. It's entirely possible there was a flaw in the crystal.

  • IPhone 6 cracked camera lens

Okay so I've only had my iPhone 6 for about a month and I always set it on my nightstand and one morning I woke up and the camera lens is cracked! Really? I think this is a major design flaw having the camera lens out. What should I do about getting a replacement

  • Can you get just your rear camera lens replaced or do you have to get the entire back screen replaced?

I recently dropped my phone for the first time, and neither of my screens cracked but my rear camera lens did get scratched badly. I can't use it at all to take picture. It just shows up as a fuzy screen when I open my rear camera. My iPhone isn't even a year old yet. Now, I need to know if I can get just the rear lens replaced or if I have to get the entire back screen replaced? I also need to know if anyone knows how much either of these would cost? Or is it free with the one year warrenty?

You would have to get the rear glass panel replaced, it is one part. Normal warranty does not cover accidential damage. You can do it yourself for 50$:

  • Camera lens now working

BINGO - HAVE FOUND A WAY A WAY OF FIXING CAMERA PROBLEM.
It is not a hardware issue, but a software issue.
Somewhere the camera the settings, have been messed up.
By re-setting from a back up, it only puts back the restored files etc, including the duff camera settings. Only by zeroing the iPhone will this work.
Hiya all, I recently sold my old iPhone 3G to a friend of mine, but I had the problem with the camera lens not opening, the camera application would still work, and sense the orientation of the phone. But it would let me take photos etc.
Before I passed the iPhone to my mate. I ZEROED the phone, by going into Settings/General/Reset, then select ERASE ALL CONTENT AND SETTINGS.
Make sure you have you iPhone plugged into your computer or mains adapter etc, because this could take up to 2 hours.
This resets all settings to their defaults and erases all your information and media:
And also brings the iPhone back to the state, of when you first purchased the iPhone.
I've only just spoke to my friend who has taken the iPhone from me, and reassures me the camera is now working.

Sounds like a hardware failure to me. I'm sure you've checked the obvious, like something covering the lens.

  • Lumia 920 front camera lens distortion (not dust)

    Hi community,
Have a next issue - all pictures/video from front camera are distorted on top (I can see that upper edge of camera is just covered by glass curve - so the effect I'm getting is quite annoying). I've seen couple of videos on youtube made by 920 front camera - everything is OK there. Please see attached couple of images. Is anybody else having this issue?

It was physical defect (so have no idea how your reset would help solving it) Got replacement from my carrier. Glass is flat this time - no curves on edges. So no "lens" distortion effect. Please see photos of the front camera and gorilla glass before and after replacement.

  • Camera lens missing from phone

I've got iphone 5. And the problem is that the camera lens is missing from back. My phone is under warranty. Will it be replaced or what..plz tell me

I guess it would depend upon why it's missing and if your AppleCare is still active.
If it is missing due to acciddental damage (drops, etc), then that would be considered an "Out Of Warranty" repair, and it would cost you about $269 USD (unless you have an active AppleCare+ where there are 2 "incidents" where you can get your phone replaced for $49).
If it is due to manufacturing defect, then it would be covered under the 1 year Mfr Warranty, so if you have proof of purchase, or have it registered with Apple, then it should be covered for a free replacement as long as you are within 1 year of the device's purchase.

  • Dust in iphone 5 camera lens

is there any way to clean dust out of the iphone 5 camera lens?

Yes, but doing so, will void Warranty. This will be covered by Warranty. Make Genius reservation or set up service and take or send to Apple for resolution.

  • Camera lens fell off gen 4 Ipod touch?

The glue on my Ipod touch 4 gen has worn off of the camera lens, causing it to fall off. I still have the lens around, will it be covered by apple as my warranty still applies for a remaining period of 10 days?

Only Apple can make that determinations. Apple may consider it happened because of abuse and thus not covered.
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and find out.

  • Camera lens cover broken

hi all, i had my n900 for a while now.camera lens cover(top part) has peeled off from its glue and the wire makes the cover open and close came loose by itself. i have the warranty but i do not want to send my phone just for the cover for 2 weeks. is there any place on web that i can order the lens cover only and replace it my self. its very east to remove since its plastic base.i only have the blue base on the phone now and it is loose so its keep opening the camera mode. very annoying. please help.

Take it to a store (Nokia or network) and ask if you can just have the back panel replaced. Or, try to find one online. Markets usually sell the covers too

so today i was using my ipod touch 5th generation ive only had for since about the start of january and while i was on it, it just shut itself off... i thought id try and charge it buut found it was getting rather hot for it to charge so i decided to take it off and try again.. i put it back on and it was getting way to hot again so i took it off and exzamined it and i found that i had moisture in my camera lens... i have no idea what to do... my parents are going to send it away to see what apple can do about it... i am rather disappointed in having this happen.. apple is suppose to be moving foward not moving back... if steve jobs were still here none of this would have happened... if they dont fix it for me i can garrentee we will not be buying anything apple anymore and most of our technology is apple... can anyone help me with what to do ??
    Thanks

The moisture indicated liquid contact. I woiuld try the iPiod as specified here:
How to fix a wet iPod or iPhone | eHow.comfix-wet-ipod-iphone.html
    The when dry try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iphone6 camera lens is broken. what can I do?

My iphone6 camera lens is broken as a result of dropping the phone on a sharp object by mistake. I bought the phone from UK apple online store on 12th September 2014. Would I be covered for repairs/replacement?

Dropping the phone is not covered by the warranty given by Apple. You'll have to pay for the phone to be serviced.

  • HT4993 How much does it cost to replace a rear broken camera lens on an iPhone 4S?

I have a year warranty but I'm not sure how much it will cover or if it will even cover a shattered camera lens. I dropped my phone but keep in mind that the back is NOT shattered, only the lens (on the back) is. Please help! Much appreciated.

Accidental damage is not covered under the warranty - unless you purchased the AppleCare Plus extended warranty when the iPhone was purchased which includes two claims for accidental damage with a $49 deductible for an exchange.
Apple doesn't have a menu of repair services such as this except for replacing the battery. You would need to contact a 3rd party repair service to get a price for this only.
