Purple/gray

Probably a stupid question but here it goes. Since most recent update my itunes display is pink violet and gray. Very hard to read. How can I convert back to the blue background. Thanks.

Change the monitor's bitdepth to 32 bit from the Control Panel.

  • Graphic styles that use current fill color instead of stomping them?

Sorry if this is a really stupid, newbie question; I am a stupid newbie.
If I make a graphic style/appearance, it stores the colors of the fill and stroke and will then stamp that down on whatever else I apply it to (obviously). e.g. if I make a graphic style of a pale yellow fill and a bright orange dropshadow screen to make a glowing neon kind of look, and then drop that style onto a bright blue star, it will make the star pale yellow.
Is there a way to do a graphic style that _modifies_ the existing appearance instead of stomping it - e.g. dropping that graphic style on my blue star would make a pale blue fill with a bright green dropshadow screen.
e.g. A graphic style that said "make the new fill 110% value, 85% saturation, same hue as the existing fill color, add a 25 pt dropshadow that has the color of 90% value, 110% saturation, -3 hue of the existing fill color." And then that style dropped on a yellow star and a blue star would result in a glowing neon yellow star and a glowing neon blue star.
The reason I ask: I have a bunch of geometric shapes of various shades of red, orange, yellow and brown, and would like to see what they would all look like with dropshadows of dark, very desaturated complementary colors (the orange shape gets a dark blue/gray dropshadow, the yellow shape gets a dark purple/gray dropshadow, etc.). Do I have to go in and modify each appearance by hand, or is there some way I can automate that?
Thanks, and apologies if this is a really obvious question.
    Ken

You won't get as much control as you describe (specific HSV values), but try putting a negative value in the Drop Shadow dialog's Darkness field.
To create a Graphic Style that can apply an Effect without disturbing the existing fill/stroke of the object(s), first group the object(s), then apply the Effect (Drop Shadow, etc.) to the Group, and then drag the Group to the Graphic Styles palette.

  • MultiCam In Viewer

    I'm back.
I have narrowed the goofy little problem down with my viewer.
When I am doing live editing of a multiclip from the timeline, there is either a steely-gray line in the render bar, or another color. Only the steely gray color will play the multi-clip in the viewer while I edit, all other colors, including the purple-gray color which I think indicates it's been rendered. With all the options checked on the render list, it still does not turn steely gray.
When mousing over the steely gray render bar, it says video:media, audio: media. The purple-gray color says video: rendered, audio: rendered.
    So I'm confused.
Any idea how I can unrender and keep everything a media file until I'm done with it so I can see what I'm doing?
    Thanks for all your help.
    I really appreciate it

On the other hand, I don't want to lose all that fine tuning I've already done to the attributes of my clips. I managed to fix the picture so that it actually looks good from three different places in the room with very uneven lighting.
Besides, my poor MBP is really maxed out, and right now I'm trying to see video clips and slides I'm superimposing (B-roll?) over the multiclip in the canvas. I have to render each section so I can see it play, and get the timing just right. I think I'm doing this all the hardest way possible.
Any suggestions for solving both issues?

  • PROBLEM WITH LEOPARD INSTALL

I just received the LEOPARD Install DVD which I purchased from the Apple Store with the intend to upgrade my iMac OS X 10.4.11 which already was upgraded to TIGER last year.
As everybody knows - after inserting the DVD - you are prompted to press RESTART which I did.My iMac shuts off, then tries to restart, the Apple Logo appears with the little wheel spinning accompanied by a loud rumbling motor sound .This lasts for at least 2 minutes. Then the screen turns into a purple gray with the color wheel spinning and that is all ! The only way I was able to eject the DVD was to connect this iMac via Firewire to my Mac Book . After this DVD was ejected the iMac started perfectly in the old TIGER mode.
I tried 2 more times to install Leopard but with the same strange and frustrating result !
Can any of you Experts be so kind and give me a hint to what the problem is and what I can do ?

I had the same problem when I went to upgrade my iMac. Which I am using right now. The way i found to do it was boot it up using target disk mode. mainly you have to have another mac. boot that other mac with the leopard disk, then with them plugged into eachother with a firewire cable start up your imac holding T. then on the other mac choose disks and choose the imac's hard drive. Install it that way and you'll be fine.

  • Dynamic Wallaper problem

    Hello,
I have iOS 7 installed on my iPod touch. When I go to the dynamic wallpapers page, only some of all the dynamic wallpapers are there. I do not have the green one, but have the original blue to purple, gray, yellow, red, and blue. I really like the green dynamic wallpaper, and is really the reason I downloaded iOS 7 (I think the menus and other stuff is way to white). Is this just a bug, or is apple expressing its dislike for iPod Touch users? I had to rewrite this TWICE due to the stupid swipe back gesture that apple has put in her (I am very annoyed and apple looking at a windows phone instead of an iPhone due to the excessive amount of bug in this new version). Also, I must type very slow as Safari is very slow in responding when I type (so I have had to redo this very slowly and really dislike apple rah this point and would like an answer

How would you solve this problem recursively? I think
you should be able to apply the same technique here.Ah, I've solved the problem now. Thank you for your help, I realized that you really can't solve it recursively using the method I was trying.

  • MacBook Pro Repeatedly Loads Purple & Teal Stripe, Gray, Light Blue, Bright Blue and Bright Blue Stripe Screens Instead of OS after Optical Drive Replacement by Apple (PICTURES INCLUDED)

17 inch March 26-29 (order date – shipping date) 2011 MacBook Pro, 256GB Solid State Drive, 2.3 GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, 1 processer, 4 Cores, 256 KB L2 Cache per core, 8 MB L3 Cache, 8 GB Memory (8GB 1333MHZ DDR3 SDRAM - 2X4GB), AMD Radeon HD 6750M Video Card, Intel HD Graphics 3000 with 512 MB total of VRAM. 110 GBs of free/unused disk space remaining.
Full Specs are in subsequent post.
The issues described in the title continue even after I’ve reinstalled the operating system twice (Snow Leopard) and installed Mavericks (which is working fine and even faster). I’ve tried many commands to repair this.
If anyone has experienced any of the symptoms above or below, your advice and response will be much appreciated as well as marked. These are the details:
My Early 2011 MacBook Pro has had the typical blue screens, screen freezes and graphics issues since I bought it about three years ago but nothing like this and NEVER any load issues until about a month ago. That was when my superdrive replacement was put in.
Since then my MacBook Pro will go into hard freezes or kernel panics. Then I’ll have to power it down manually and power it up manually. It’ll then refuse to load the OS until after multiple tries. It started out just 2 or 3, then 4 or 5, then 6-12, then 20. Now it takes over 30 boots to load the OS. These boot issues also occur even if it doesn’t freeze, i.e.: when I shut it down or restart it naturally (via the Apple menu, etc.).
95% of the time it’ll load to a gray screen instead of the OS. 4% of the time it’ll load to a light blue screen. Then there are the others: the first time this happened it loaded to the striped purple and teal screen shown in the picture. This happened the next four times then intermittently for about 5 or so more times.
It also loaded gray flickering screens. Flickering screens also occurred right before it froze and had to be manually powered down and up. Then it began to load regular gray and light blue screens and all flickering screens stopped. And then bright blue screens a couple times intermittently for a few days, sometimes with lines. Sometimes it’ll load to a blank/black screen as well. I’d reset the NVRAM and SMC but it still continued, happening multiple times a day, each time taking more and more hard shut downs and hard power ons to finally load the OS.
Until I installed Mavericks, every time it finally loaded the OS Finder began indexing. After Mavericks this has occurred 95% of the time.
After talking to Apple Support they had me do a NVRAM and SMC reset again over the phone. The MacBook Pro refused to load the entire time we were on the phone. After the call it got worse. It froze over 6 times that day and at worse took over 30 boots to load the OS.
I finally had time to deal with it the next day when it froze again. After over 25 boots it loaded and I put in the Snow Leopard OS dvd and ran Disk Utility. I verified the hard drive and it said it was fine. Repaired the disk anyway and it gave this message at the end:
“Updating boot support partitions for volume required”.
Next I tried to start in safe mode and it just hung up for hours. Then started up in single mode and it loaded the OS. It then loaded normally for three times in a row. I reinstalled Snow Leopard. Everything loaded normally. I waited an hour or so and then I downloaded Mavericks. 5 or so hours later Mavericks was installed. Everything hardware wise was fine for a day and all software issues were easily fixable incompatibilities. My Mac was even faster with Mavericks. However, Photoshop did give a perhaps relevant message:
“Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled GPU enhancements. Check the video card manufacturer’s website for the latest software.
GPU enhancements can be enabled in the Performance panel of Preferences.”
(I have OpenGL enabled in Photoshop and it was already checked when this error occurred).
Two days ago I went to Disk Utility to repair permissions while logged in to a non-admin account. Verified and repaired the disk, then verified permissions. Everything fine. After repairing permissions however, it gave a weird error box:
"Unapproved caller, SecurityAgent may only be invoked by Apple software".
The box stayed “stuck” in the Disk Utility window. My MacBook Pro then failed to do anything. I manually powered it down and up. It loaded to a gray screen with the error message box again: "Unapproved caller, SecurityAgent may only be invoked by Apple software".
It then refused to load anything else but this message box on a gray screen even after rebooting it multiple times in safe, verbose and single modes and after resetting the NVRAM and SMC. I went online with an iPad and entered in the error and got some advice. I tried to run fsck and erase the /var/folders/ via single user mode but it still loaded to a gray screen with the error message. I just decided to skip to the end and Cmd-R loaded into recovery mode and reinstalled Mavericks again. That worked: the message has not appeared since.
Some people have said this error is related to a hard drive cable failure. I know that this cable was tampered with during the optical drive replacement procedures because I watched them do it.
Everything was fine for a day. Then yesterday my MacBook Pro froze while trying to open a VLC file. It took 12 boots to load the OS.  I tried single mode once and verbose mode once. 10 times it loaded to gray screens, even in those mode. A Safe boot lead to a bright blue screen. Finally reset the SMC and it loaded on the 12th time.
Just five hours ago the same thing happened except it took over 30 boots to load the OS. Single, verbose and normal boots, NVRAM and SMC resets lead to gray screens.  Safe boots lead to bright blue screens with and without lines (see pictures). Finally loaded on a normal boot.
I know I should have tried safe booting, verbose, single and recovery modes, disk utility, fsck and other command methods earlier this month but in the end, these methods have not solved the problem anymore than resetting the NVRAM or SMC.
There seems to be conclusive evidence that it’s a hardware problem, stemming from last month, the FIRST AND ONLY time my MacBook Pro was opened up. Maybe it’s the hard drive cable, but it could also be the graphics card and/or logic board (something that’s always been defective on this MacBook Pro, in my opinion). Many early 2011 MacBook Pro owners have given evidence to the latter possibility online.
The first time it started it seemed to stem from me using iPhoto and Photoshop a lot. I had both running continuously for about two weeks. This is another reason for suspecting the graphics card/logic board is at fault (in addition to three years of screen/graphics glitches). And since the card is soldered to the board and the board connected to the cable...I also have serious battery draining issues, something else that got bad after the Apple Superdrive repair. And the battery is connected to the board...
Also, since downloading Mavericks, windows from every app get blurry/fuzzy when I scroll or zoom in. I have read that this is happening to a lot of folks though for various reasons.
I guess it could always be the hard drive. I just don’t know. I’m taking it in to Apple, but can't right away because it’s not local.  I know they’ll be able to run a test on the hard drive. I wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem (especially the purple and teal striped screen) before they start poking around, possibly creating another problem that goes beyond my Apple Care Plan allotment.

  • Gray/blue/purple screen with faint blinds effect during use, how to fix it?

Hi, I have a 20'' iMac (2009) running Snow Leopard and sometimes during use the entire screen goes gray (or purple or blue) with a faint "blinds" effect (vertical stripes). It doesn't do anything and I don't seem to be able to leave it, there are no visible menus, buttons or anything, nor does it show 'loading' or anything but the gray and the stripes, forcing me to forcibly restart the system. Does anyone know what it could be and why?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Why is the text color PURPLE in the preview???????
The color is correct (gray) in dreamweaver, but when I

    Please advice, thank you!

  • My gray scales show up in shades of purple and print that way

My hard drive died and I purchased a new hard drive.  I run Vista Business and have both PS cs3 and PSE.  Both programs show my grayscales as shades of purple.  It also prints as shades of purple.  But I have other photo editing software and it shows grays correctly and prints correctly.
Does anyone have any suggestions?  It use to work okay before the new hard drive was installed.  None of my other software is acting any differently.
    Thanks much.

I had (shame on me) purchased PS CS3 from Ebay.  Naturally it was pirated and I reported it to all authorities including Adobe.  I since have purchased PS CS4 directly from Adobe.  I thought the problem would go away, but it hasn't.  My monitor is set correctly, my color profiles are correct according to the Lynda.com sessions and Photoshop help files.  My video card is a Nvidia GE9500GT and I just updated the driver per CS4 instructions, so I am up to date with that.  But my color swatches still appear as shades of purple to the screen.
I drew a custom black/white/50% gray shape.  The screen shows the shape as a purple shade and it prints pretty good now.  What disconcerning is that the screen shows grays as purples in both my new PS CS4 and now in PS Elements 6.0.  (which it never did before)  None of my other programs for video or photography show grays as purples, only Photoshop programs.  I sent the file to my friend who has PS CS3 and he can see it fine as 50% gray, but I can't.  I am totally baffled and bothered by this.
Could it be that something in the pirated software didn't clean out of my system totally?  I did the uninstall and then used revo uninstaller to get rid of all remaining registries, but perhaps I need to take PS Elements off and CS4 off and start over again?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  I have contact Adobe support but they don't answer stating that they have to verify my product. ????
    Thanks much.

Also After I Import A New "Same Form Into ALC, I click on submit button and goto ""Object Field" and enter [email protected] for the email address and change the email Subject.
However every time when I'm using ALC, I click File>>>.Distribute Form..... Distribute Form Pop-up Window Opens Up.

  • How can i gain access to my data on a Time Capsule after a fresh install of Mavericks? I can't access any backups through Time Machine... They appear purple/transparent, and I can't even select them to view their contents. PLEASE HELP!!!

So, I've got several thousand photos, and a decent amount of videos of my daughter, along with a lot of stuff for work stored on my Time Capsule, and now I can't access any of it. I did a fresh install of Mavericks on my MacBook Pro last week sometime, and haven't been able to figure out how to get my files back. Please Help!!! My daughter is 2 and a half, and every picture/video I have of her is locked on this thing. I was planning on making some photo/video projects fo my wife for Christmas, and now I'm definitely not going to be able to pull it off. Her birthday is at the end of January, though, so if I could have it by then, that would rule!
Basically, the bar on the right of the screen has some gray dates, which I can access (all backups after the Mavericks install), and purple dates that go all the way back to March (when I originally purchased and began using the TC) which deny me access/viewing. It's possible that I created a slightly different user name when I reset my MacBook, which I guess is most likely the cause, but I have no idea what to do now to correct it. Thanks for taking the time!

    Mavericks does really nasty stuff..
Try manually mounting the sparsebundle and extract the files you want.
    Yet another Pondini reference. http://pondini.org/TM/15.html
We have avoided Mavericks you see knowing that it would cause these kinds of issues..
You never ever load a new OS without doing a disk image beforehand.. TM is not reliable enough or trustworthy to be depended on.
If none of the above work..
I would get a USB drive on the computer and install Mountain Lion or whatever OS you had before you unfortunately upgraded to Mavericks.. Then use TM from that decent installation but mount the sparsebundle and choose the backup from a date well before mavericks was installed.
Once you have extracted the files.. or even done a full restore you might be able to extract the files you want.

  • Green/purple lines up and down right side of 27" imac

I bought my 27" iMac about 6 months ago, running Boot Camp (problem is not exclusive to one OS, it happens in both Windows and OSX). It started as just a small, isolated square of purple lines that randomly appeared one day as I turned it on. It went away fairly quickly, so I thought nothing of it. It came back less than a month later, except now it went completely up and down the monitor in a thin stripe. It would flicker between purple and green lines, then go away; it usually happened immediately following starup but would go away pretty soon. It got progressively worse and worse, as now it takes up the entire right quarter of the screen, happens basically every half hour or so, continually going away and coming back. Sometimes it will be a stripe, sometimes it will go to the end of the monitor, it is not possible to predict when it will happen, or how bad it will be. Interestingly, if I bring up a window that is completely white, it will go away. It has to be completely white, not even slightly gray. Incredibly frustrating, considering I spent $2200 on this thing.
I've taken several pictures when it happens, I try and go into the Apple store and see if they have any insight, but they tell me they can't tell me anything unless I schedule a meeting at the Genius Bar and bring my iMac in. Worst policy I've ever heard, I'm supposed to bring my heavy, gigantic computer to a crowded mall because they refuse to offer me any support? Or at least tell me, "Yes, that is a common problem, if you bring it in, we can fix it." I have to bring it there, and then take a chance that it won't get fixed right there. Excellent. Especially considering I use my computer daily for school AND work, I cannot afford to go a single day without this machine. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and if so, were they able to fix it? I've included pictures of both the first time it happened, as well as random times it has happened since then.

apple just released a firmware to fix a graphics issue with some Imacs have you tried upgrading to that? It doesn't say anything about this type of issue, but you might want to start there.
If not I would set and apt. and take it into the store it looks like there is something really wrong with the monitor. I saw a friends monitor do something that and he said it ended being an over heating issue. Ether way you have to take it in so they can replace it or send it to be fixed. Sometimes they are able to fix things in the store, but can't do anything for you with out it there.
It is better then going into a best buy and saying fix my PC.

  • HP7960 black and white prints half purple

We use the HP7960 mostly to print copies of black and white photographs.  The copies start out fine, but change to purple about midway through the page.  I have set the color to Grayscale but it doesn't seem to make any difference.  It is very important that we get good copies of these historic photographs.  How can I correct this?

Likely your color cartridge is running low on yellow ink. When printing graphics the color cartridge is used because it provides better print quality than using the black cartridge.  If you are printing on photo paper the photo and color cartridges will be used, the black ink is not compatible with photo paper.
Replacing the color cartridge with a fresh #57 one should resolve your issue.
If you are printing on photo paper replacing the #58 photo cartridge with a #59 photo gray cartridge may give you better results.
