Purple line after installing...

I just recently installed the new update to iTunes and Quicktime. As soon as my computer restarted a single purple vertical line of pixels appeared on my screen, at first it would disappear and appear at random, but now it is just stuck there. It is kindof annoying. I am wondering if this is from the install or if the pixels in my screen are broken. Any help is awesome, thanks.
p.s. I am not sure if this is the right place to post this, but i see it all the time while i am using Mac OS X...

if you create a new account (go to >System Preferences...>Accounts), does the pink line also appear there? Also, does the pink line appear even if there is a window over that spot?
Another thing you can try is repairing permissions and verifying disk:
Open disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities), clicking "Macintosh HD", and clicking "Repair Disk Permissions". Repeat that repair until no issues come up. Then click "Verify Disk". If an error comes up, post back and I will give you instructions on how to fix it.
If you get no errors on either of those (or fix them), you can try reinstalling the Combo Update.
1st, check if you have Intel or PPC:
Go to >About This Mac, and you will see Intel or PPC mentioned.
If you see Intel, get the update here, and if you see PPC, get the update here.

Platform.conf only has 2 lines after install

Environment:
App: Sun ONE Portal Server: Secure Remote Access 6.0
OS: Solaris 2.8
Basic config setup: Portal Server (and SRA) installed on one machine. No SSL. The Portal Server, Gateway and Rewriter proxy are all installed on the same machine.
Problem description:
After everything is installed, /etc/opt/SUNWps/platform.conf is missing info unexpectedly. It only shows the following lines:
gateway.bindipaddress=10.41.7.210
gateway.sockretries=3
Question: This doesn't look normal...Is this supposed to happen?...If not, what could be some of the reasons this is happening?
When I installed the gateway and re-writer proxy, I specificied the same profile name for them both as according to the SRA admin guide: "Ensure that the rewriter proxy and the gateway use the same gateway profile."

You must use different profile names if you are installing the gateway and the rewriter proxy on the same machine. If you use the same name, you get the result you describe.
The SRA admin guide is trying to say that you must refer the rewriter proxy to the correct gateway profile. This is described in the SRA installation guide.
I suggest you uninstall the gateway and the rewriter proxy and re-install both with different profile names.

Green pixel lines after installing 10.4.6

I started getting green pixel lines on my screen following installation. They appear when windows open and remain after windows are closed. They also appear around the desktop icons, but mostly on the left side and bottom of the icon.
Any thoughts on how to eliminate this problem?
I have run permissions repair several times.

Find the com.apple.finder.plist, and the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist file in your ~Library/Preferences Folder. Drag these plist files to your Desktop, log out/in or restart.
If unsuccessful, can you duplicate this behavior if you create a new user?
Reinstalling the Mac OS X 10.4.6 Combo for PPC is an option if the behavior is observed in the new user account.

After installing IOS 6 on my iphone 4, why is my camera taking purple pictures?

Immediately after installing IOS 6 on my iphone 4 on 9/22/12, when I attempt to use any of my phone apps, everything is colored in purple tint (see attached image). This includes taking video as well. If I flip the camera to the self facing camera, the purple goes away. This only happens on the front facing camera. I've tried googling this issue and cannot find anyone else complaining about this. Any ideas???

So, now I'm starting to feel like I'm the one and only lucky SOB to have this purple issue. For anyone who reads this, some more detail. Since posting this thread, I did a full reset from my iphone and that did not resolve the issue. Then, last night I did a full system restore from itunes which took about 4 hours and that didn't solve it either.
After all this, I started thinking that perhaps there's something wrong with the lens hardware but yesterday for approx 3 full seconds, the camera was normal then there was a stutter and it went purple again. Sounds like a software issue, so I'm really baffled why a system restore wouldn't cure this. Ugh!

Purple color for Start button and Settings app dissapear shortly after install completes

I have just completed a Reset of the latest win10 build 10041 to see if it would fix the error of all the grey colors. Settings app is grey and the start button is grey. Looks nothing like the screenshots I see on the web.
After install was completed and the desktop showed up, the color on the Start menu had the purple color. After a minute the screen went black with a white square in the top left corner. I pressed the Start button and the desktop was recreated but now the
Start button was back to the grey color.
I experienced exactly the same with the previous builds.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Could you please share a snapshot with us so we can better understand what happened? Regarding to the "gray", do you mean that it just has been changed to a gray color\usable or the button is totally gray out\unusable?
If it is related to color, then right click the desktop\Personalize\Color, you can change the color as you want.

I just bought a brand new ipad mini.
Everything was fine, then i get a message asking if I want to update to the newest ios version.
I say ok and it downloads and does the update.
Then I notice there's a purple line going down the middle of the screen?
Is this a software issue or a hardware issue?
Is this related to the update?
Should I take it to an apple store and try and get a replacement or is it a simple fix?

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. The majority of issues with lines appear to require a new screen or the ribbon connector between the screen and the board is loose. These could be caused by mis-treatment although not always and I'm sure you would have mentioned if you had dropped the BB. So it does seem likely that this app has caused the problem.
Uninstalling doesn't completely remove an app from the device, hence why it makes no difference. Before sending the device away for service (or fixing a new screen yourself) it will be worth wiping the device and reinstalling the OS. I would be tempted not to reload the problem app, there has been comment on here about the benefits - use the search facility above right if you are interested.

IMac won't boot correctly! Braille-looking screen and purple lines

Hi guys; i've got a big problem over here; about a week ago my iMac (27", late 2009, i5 2,66ghz quad core, 4gb RAM upgraded to 12, running Snow Leopard) froze while watching a movie in streaming. After a few minutes i decided to force the turn off and pressed the power button. When i turned on again the computer it boot up showing this braille-looking screen instead of the desktop.
The first thing i performed was the safe-mode-startup, and that worked fine; when i turned on in 'normal' mode again everything worked correctly.
After a few days it happened again, but this time on the white boot screen with the apple logo there were several purple lines 'organized' in five groups.
On the light blue screen, wich is next in the boot-sequence, the lines disappeared and at the end of the boot, instead of the desktop, there was braille-looking screen, but this time with some purple dots.
The first thing i did this time, too, was safe-mode-boot, but that didn't work fine as the last time, in fact i achieved to log in and use the computer, but the purple lines kept on staying over the background (and their color is influenced by background color eg.. if the desktop is orange the lines turn green). Then i switched off the computer and tried to boot in 'normal' mode, but nothing changed from the situation before the safe-mode-boot.
So i tried everything that came to my mind: Repair disk in the Disk Utility; Reset PRAM; Reset SMC; Remove the 8GB RAM i added, i even removed the HDD and replaced with an SSD that i was planning to put in the computer for an upgrade, but nothing worked.
I am asking for your help guys, every tip to solve the problem is appreciated, i thank you in advance.

I would definitively exclude display failure because the light-blue screen is just as normal as it should be, and i would also exclude that i made damage installing the ssd since nothing change from before installation to after; probably the GPU is failing and i should take the computer to an apple store; that is a pity for a 4 year mac. At the moment i'm recovering my logic pro files from a macbook, i will go to the apple store during the week. I thank you anyway for your tip.

Alright I have a Mid 2012 13 inch Macbook Pro purchased in June 2012. For about the last month, I have this issue where as I am using it random colored lines will show up on the screen (lines usually green, purple, but occasionally the issue occurs while booting and lines are black on white background). As soon as the lines appear, everything freezes. Sometimes the computer automatically reboots. Other times, it will just turn off and start beeping 3 times in a row. AT first, I thought this may be a video card error because it happened a lot when I was watching videos. However, it also happens randomly when I am just using safari/chrome with no other programs runnings. The most annoying part of this issue is that it is completely random. Computer won't act up for maybe 2 days straight during all activities (videos, surfing the web, etc). Then I will have a day where the problem is consistent.
Also, although I think this is just a correlation, all problems started after upgrading to Yosemite.

I think you should change your nat-exemption rule to smth more general, like
nat (inside,outside) source static any any destination static NETWORK_OBJ_10.10.10.0_28 NETWORK_OBJ_10.10.10.0_28 no-proxy-arp route-lookup
'cause your inside networks are not the same as your vpn-pool subnet.
Plus, if you're trying to reach inside subnets, different from 10.152.11.0 255.255.255.0 (ip from wich subnet is assignet to your inside interface, and for wich above nat exception should be enough), you should check if routing is configured from that subnets to your vpn-pool-subnet through the ASA.

Can't print online after installing IE9, HP Deskjet 1050 print scan copy

A week ago or so I installed IE9, had IE7 and it just was not working with allot of web pages so I updated to IE9.
I sell on ebay and I went to make a printing label thru ebays site and I keep getting this error message.

I have just spent 5 hrs online trying to solve this problem. Read many helps/tips and none worked.
Here is just a little of what I have did and nothing worked.
1. uninstalled/installed printer
2. Installed updated software for printer(unpluged printer USB before uninstall/install)
3. Found online that HP printers don't work with IE9, info said to dnlded HP Smart Print 2.1(didn't help after reboot)(also HP web printing was not located in my Added programs, it said to uninstall that first)
4. Had no idea if I had "bing bar" so I found an dnld for Bing Bar.(didn't help after reboot)Bing Bar was also not found on added programs in control panel
5. Uninstalled and installed software for printer again, rebooted and still will not print online.
6. I do have the little HP Smart Print icon on the command toolbar but when ever I clicked on it, it never did nothing.
I am about ready to uninstall IE9. I hate to go back to IE7 but I heard IE8 is junk. Thats why I never installed it.
I have to get it working, I have shipping labels to print.
NOTE: Yes I have spent 6 hrs researching HP's forums, Microsoft forums, and many other forums and nothing works.
P.S. After installing HP Smart Print 2.1 and Bing Bar I did check Manage Addons to make sure they was enabled, they both are.

I have no problem printing anything offline like notebook pages, etc. can't print any online page.
IE9 and HP printers stink as on this past week. I have used HP printers for approx 15 yrs and NEVER had a problem like this before. I will never have a problem like this again, as soon as I buy a replacement NON- HP printer.
I have wasted at least 5 days online researching a fix and I finally found how to get the bing bar so show. When I did that the bing bar showed. But doing that puts my PC as more risk.

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, the App Store may prompt you to update "Angry Birds" or "Twitter," but the hacked app may be something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you must carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.
1. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

2. In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu of search criteria, initially showing Kind. From that menu, select
Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select
Raw Query
as the criterion, then click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
4. The search window will now show all the App Store products that are installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.
If you find these instructions confusing, ask for an alternative method.
