Purple / Pink text in finders column view

I'm getting this in the finder since the install of Leopard
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2179/1916218232034222c74do.png
It's pretty reliable in col mode scrolling a list of files, usually slow scrolling makes it more pronounced.
Anyone else get this? I saw some stuff on other graphic glitches here, but not this.
Thanks Much!

It seems to be a general display problem, i have it too. If i take a screen shot of my bleached Finder and view it on a Mac that doesn't have this problem, the image looks normal. Same in reverse, if I take a screen shot of the Finder from a Mac working properly and view it on a Mac with the bleaching problem, the image is completely distorted. I have an almost identical clean install of Leopard on 2 machines. The machine with the problem has Adobe CS3 installed, the other does not. I'm not sure if this is relevant yet.

  • Is there a way to Search (List search) for more then one field text from a column for Bulk uploading?

I've been trying to find more information on this and I apologies if this has already been answered. I just don't know the correct way to ask this. We have a SharePoint List at the company that we have people input information into different columns. The
problem is most of those information are very repetitive. Is there a way for me to search more then one field text in the column and just input that same information in?
    ex:
    Column 1
    Column 2
    Date:
    883851
    MidWest
    User input
    8831518
    MidWest
    User input
On the search field in the SharePoint List, I would need to search for 883851, 8831518 etc,  would view those requested numbers, then I would click edit and change dates to those rows. Does that make sense? I'm sorry I'm fairly new at sharepoint.

I think what you're asking is about having repetitive options in a list, show up easily for new items being created.
This can be done by setting the columns that contain repetitive information to Choice fields.  In the configuration of the Choice field, check the box for "Allow custom values".  Now as users are entering data into the list, the dropdown of options
for a given field grows and users can quickly see and select previously entered and thus repetitive values for the given fields.
I trust that answers your question...
    Thanks

    Hi Juergen,
I found Your blog and found it  really interesting... though I was not able to use it: I (like Jun Li is asking, I guess) need to use a dynamic text, containing formatting informations (according the xhtml syntax).
I tried to pass it to the form by an ABAP-dictionary based interface and by means of the context (in a webdynpro page), but both tries failed.
Some suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
    Thankyou

  • Set the css style of text in a column according to the value of another col

I'd like to set the css style of text in a column according to the value of another column. Each field may end up with a different style of text as a result, for instance.
Any ideas? I looked thru the forums but couldn't find anything.
    Thanks,

Does the class=”t7Header” make it into the rendered HTML?
---The text "class="tHeader" does not show but the other text is rendered using the style t7Header as defined in the stylesheet! Exactly what I wanted.
You might want to use a div or a span instead of a p.
    ---Yes -
What's very cool is we can create a display column that is dynamically filled with the html and style wrappers based on a lookup to see what style should be applied according to the actual data value. This is critical as our tables are all dynamic so I can't depend on using the additional APEX methods to control the display of a column (as the # of columns in the view vary from instance to instance) and I did not want the display specs to muddy up my SQL queries.
I wonder why this is not well documented. It is so easy!
    Thanks again for your help.

I need to create a flyer which contains as example 33 lines of text in a column. All textlines have to be underlined in a color. I tried this with „Absatzlinie darunter“ (might be „Paragraph line underneath“.
The short-cut is „Command / Alt / J“, but nowhere I can see any information how to duplicate the underlines.

    Guten Morgen!

  • Text wrap effects text in different columns differently

In InDesign CS4, if you have a 2-column text box and a graphic with a text wrap that spans from one column into another, the text wrap will offset the text in the two columns by different amounts if the graphic is aligned with the top of the text box. That shouldn't happen; the very same text wrap on the very same graphic should offset the text in the two columns by the same amount. But it doesn't. The baselines will not line up from column to column.
Clearly you can get around this if you snap to a baseline grid. But what if you don't want to use baseline grid? Is there a way to get the text wrap to offset the text in both columns equally?
I have attached a screen capture to demonstrate the problem. In this case, the baselines align, but the text wrap is clearly affecting the text in the left column and not affecting the text in the right column, even though they are aligned on the same baseline! Any suggestions?

You're right, it shouldn't happen, but it's a long-standing bug (or feature).  One workaround is to use a baseline grid. Another is to adjust the wrap offset so that it matches the baseline in the opposite column. Another way is to not design so a wrapped object blocks the full width of one column but not it's neighbor. It doesn't matter where you have the wrapped object -- if it completely blockst the top of one column and leaves a any space at the top in an adjacent column where text will fit, you'll get the potential for unbalanced baselines.
The reason it happens is that in a column where text can reach the top, the baseline for the first line is controlled byt he first baseline settings in the text frame options. If the text can't reach the top of the column the positioning is controlled by the depth of the object and any additional offset for the wrap.

  • Sort-by-type for column view in open/save dialog boxes?

    Hello all,
I've done a fairly good search both on Google and in these forums and can't seem to find this question addressed. When I go to open or save something (in Preview, for example) I prefer to use Column View in the dialog box, since it is easy to see and navigate the folder structure. However, Column View always shows up sorted by name, even if I specified in Finder that the folder be sorted by type. Because of this, I have to scroll down and hunt for subfolders rather than having them conveniently listed at the top.
My question is this: is there a way to get Column View to sort by type in the open/save dialog boxes? (The Command+J that works in regular Finder does nothing in these dialog boxes.)
    Thanks!

No. Column view will only sort by name. If you wanted to put a space before each folder name, then they will sort to the top. Sorting by Kind will put folders above files, but it will also put anything else except files at the top. If there are only folders, however, that would put them first in the sort list.

  • Bug in Column view?

I’ve found that in services that I create anew not ones that are available from Apple, I can’t use keyboard shortcuts that I’ve created for those services in column view but can in list or icon view. For example, I just created a service called ‘create clean archive’ using Automator and I could not use the keyboard shortcut I assigned for it in column view but could when it was in list or icon view. Can anyone confirm or is it just me?

Can anyone confirm or is it just me?
Need to know what shortcuts you're using to test, no?
Column view has a few unique keyboard shortcuts using Shift, Tab (also Shift-Tab) and arrow keys.

  • Wrapping text in standard Webdynpro View

I needed to wrap text in a standard view of the webvdynpro component. I created a enhancement of the view and reduced the width of the root container in the enhancement . I saved it and activated it.  the next time I went to view the details I changed, the details changes were undone. How do I make a permanent change to the width attribute value?

Using the enhancement framework within a View, you can only add new UI elements or delete existing ones. You can't change the properites of existing UI elements:

  • Finder in column view has no expander divider on the last column

I deal with a lot of graphics on my computer and I have a lot of subfolders. While in finder in column view there is no expanding divider for the last column when it is showing a graphic. When I first open a photo or graphic in finder the last column shows the graphic smaller than regular size. In SL there was a column divider to expand only that last column so I could make the graphic larger to see it better. Now in Lion there is no divider on the right side of that last column to expand the last column where the grahic is showing. In order for it to finally expand I have to drag the right side of the Finder window all the way across my display until the bottom slider bar disappears and then that last column will expand. This is frustrating having to have my Finder all across my display just to get the graphic larger.
Is there a way to get an expander divider to show up for the last column when viewing a graphic in column view? I know I can click on the "eye" icon to see it, but the column view will expand the graphic larger than 100% so I can see more details.
Thanks for any and all help.
    Connie

Yes, that is how my whole finder window expands across my display until the bottom slider bar disappears....then and only then does the last column expand. I have to have open as many as 8 columns to get to my graphic. Keeping the Finder window to a smaller size and using the bottom slide bar to navigate to the far right column is nice, but all I want is that far right column where my graphic is showing to expand so I can see it better.
Thanks but what you suggest only resizes the whole Finder window until it can expand no further, then the last column expands the graphic. But then my whole display is a huge Finder window.

  • No more audio or video preview in column view?

weird one... on my powerbook (g4) i suddenly have no ability to play/preview audio or video file in column view in the finder. works fine on my desktop machine with the same os and such...? highlighting a file just gives its name and dates and such, no ability to preview.
using 10.4.8 and QT 7.1.3. tried updating prebinding (and other normal quickfixes). think i might need to reinstall quicktime?

well, yes i tried all the basic quick fixes. (plus diskwarrior and applejack, etc.)
i thought i might find it in some of the preferences of finder or quicktime but no go.
the weirder thing is that if you highlight an audio or video file in the column view, while it gives no audio or video preview, if you click on the "get more info" button (or command-i) there will be the audio or video preview.
    ???

  • WHY no scrubbing for video in column view??

I recently upgraded my tower to Leopard and I must say I am very disappointed that I cannot scrub through video or audio files in the finder window column view like the last OS.
Is there a setting I can change to get this functionality back? I see this as a huge step backwards. Why would they change this?

We all make choices. The feature you wish may never again be available, or only through 3rd party apps, just as full GUI FTP and Sherlock are not available in Leopard. Win some, lose some.
I suggest you submit this as a feature to Apple or them may never know you are missing it.

  • FINDER NOT SHOWING DIMENSIONS WIDTH OR HEIGHT....IN COLUMN VIEW OR ICONVIEW

I have noticed for the last couple of weeks that my finder no longer shows the width and Height of images or anything. Dimensions has -- on all things. I have never encountered this issue before.
I hit "show item info" It looks like it moves when I check the box in thumbnail mode, but there is nothing there.
I have google'd around and have yet to find a solution.
Would be much appreciated if someone could point me in the right direction.

These files are EPS files not image files. They have a TIF or PICT preview inside the file, I believe in the resource or data fork of the file. The file extension is EPS, and I cannot change that, just type the letters. The actual extension, the 4 digit one, that is invisible is the one that is important. In the case of EPS the actual extension is EPSF or EPSI.
Just to try the fix I changed the name and it did try to make a preview, but it came up with nothing. It was blank in column view. The OS still reads it as an EPS regardless of the change in file extension.
Anyone have some answer that involves a command line, I think that is really going to be the only thing that solves this one.

  • Question re. Column View/List View in Home Folder and Root Folder?

    <Edited by Host>
When I set either my Home folder in the Dock or the Root Folder on the Desktop to open in Column View, everything opened is retracted upon closing.
Is this just the way Leopard is, or am I missing something obvious I should know:
First, on Tiger, my Home Folder opens directly in the Finder. I don't have to select "Open in Finder," as I have to in Leopard.
Second, when I select the Column option when opening the Home Folder in the Finder, it automatically sets the Column option for the Root Folder on the Desktop, as well (and vice-versa). In Tiger, they can be set independently. I prefer to have the Root Folder set to List View and the Home Folder to Column View, and have both remain like that. This is what I meant, but got a bit confused before in asking the question.
Also, is there some way, as in Tiger, to have the Home Folder in the Dock set to open automatically in the Finder, without having to select that option each time I go to the Home Folder?
Actually, now that I remember, perhaps this isn't such surprising behavior. To get it there, I copied the Home Folder from its position in the Root Folder to the Dock. Maybe there is some other way to get the Home Folder into the Dock? Thanks.

    WZZZ wrote:
Thanks. The option "Open in Finder" appears at the bottom of a small vertical menu when I click on the Home Folder in the Dock. Command clicking on the Home Folder brings up the other user account, Shared, and my user account, so it's not that useful.
ah, you are right. well, one more option is to make an alias to the home folder, put it anywhere you want and put the alias on the dock. then clicking (no command-clicking needed) on the alias in the dock will open home in a finder window directly.
The default in Finder Preferences was already set the way you suggested.
Now that I know about cmd-n, that gets me directly to the Home Folder in the Finder. And now that it's set up to open in Column View, and remain that way independent of the View option for the Root folder, everything seems to be looking good. That's what I needed.
