SAP Enterprise Portal (EP) offers users role-specific, Web-based and secure access to all relevant information, applications and services. Employees only need a desktop and a Web Browser, and can begin work once they have been authenticated in the portal. SAP Enterprise Portal contains the NetWeaver components Portal, Knowledge Management, and Collaboration. In addition, SAP provides predefined content. We are having a problem with the way reports developed in Web Dynpro for ABAP displayed in the portal (the pop-ups and dropdowns look out of wack). The issue appears when we wrap the reports into portal themes (either standard or custom). As per the thread (the link for which I posted above), the suggestion was to apply WDFORCEEXTERNALSTYLESHEET parameter to the WDP, however our system doesn't have this parameter in the system, but it seems like I can create my own parameter. Can some on give me all of the properties assigned to WDFORCEEXTERNALSTYLESHEET in table WDY_APP_PROP_DEF.

Hi Brad, I was trying to apply the note 1033496 but our ABAP servers does not have the WDFORCEEXTERNALSTYLESHEET parameter available in WDY_APP_PROP_DEF table. All other notes are not applicable to our issue.
The portal is NW2004s SP12, the ABAP server is NW2004 SP11

Purpose of using wild cards in SAP-ABAP

what is the purpose of using the following in ABAP programs.
In my case these naming convention are used in Reports * (Custom Programs)
1> tables: *nast.
why we use * before the table name?
2> Data: %var1 type mara-matnr,
What for this % is used to declare the variable. what effect it will have?
              %%var1 type marc-werks.
this kind of declaration is also used, what purpose?
3> Perform %<form-name>.
A sub routine is called with the above kind of syntax, what purpose?
Please help me to find what purpose they are used?

WILDCARD characters which are used for comparisions with character strings & numeric strings.
Refer samplecode:
Example to select all customers whose name begins with 'M':

       WHERE NAME LIKE 'M%'.

Let me clarify you. First it is not new GL account but the New GL functionality.
With the introduction of MySAP ERP 2004, SAP introduced also a new functionality with SAP Financials. This functionality is given the name New General Ledger Accounting, or NewGL.
The new GL functionality has many uses like
Supports different reporting purposes: Legal entity reporting, segment reporting, management reporting;
Option to expand standard accounting with industry specific fields and customer-defined fields;
There is a new standard field segment in mySAP ERP: A segment is typically derived from a profit center (PC); it can be filled manually or defaulted recommonded for segment reporting.

Function module: why do we use FM and what is the purpose of using FM

Hi,
We go for creating FM when there is a chance of using the same code in different reports in R/3.
Suppose I have a requirement say, to display the Payer Name for every sale order.
This is most common requirement in any project.
You can create a FM say READ_CUSTOMER_NAME in SE37.
Write a select statement from the table VBAP to fetch the Payer Name based on the Sales Order.
Now you can activate the FM and it is ready to be used across all the reports in R/3.
Need : To avoid redundant coding and to modularize the code.
If you want to see the list of Standard FMs, got SE37 --> press F4 and you'll get all the SAP standard FMs.
For customized FMs (User defined), type Z* or Y* and press F4.

Error adding file type item using portal api

We are using portal 3.0.8.
I can add text and url type items fine but when i try to add a file type item, i get following error.
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: java.lang.SecurityException: relative

Please try to define a reproducible test case. Is this happening in all content area? Is it happening with all files, or only particular ones? What platform are you running on? What version of the database are you using?
Have you checked your repository for invalid objects? If any exist, please try to recompile them.

You have to create a System for Groupware through System Administration ->System Configuration -> system LandScape
Then create a Groupwaretransport
implement SSO between your Mail server and your EP...
and finally
Create a Mail service...

What I'm looking to do is to have self powered in ceiling speakers in every room in my house with out having to run wires to every room to carry the audio signal. I would like to use the airport express to do the job of carting the audio signal.
Here's my set up now I have an airport extreme and one airport express that I use to carry audio to one room.

FWIW. I have used up to four AirPort Express Base Stations (AX) for streaming sucessfully in pretty much the way you have described. I didn't have a need to try more so I can't attest that more would or would not work.

Running BW Query in a Web, but not using Portal

Hello guys,
I'm running a BW Query using Web (From Query Designer) and it keeps trying to open a portal page. Then I need to change the URL manually to something like this:
http://sapdev:8000/sap/bex?......
Then works fine, my query runs with no issues. Where can I define to do not use Portal url ? (I'm checking the following document: How to... enable SAP BW Web functionality....").

URL iView content translation not working using Portal Content Traslation

Hi All,
I am using Portal Content Translation to translate text of URL iView from English to Spanish. I am unable to do so. I have followed the below mentioned link:

I have used Content Admin -> Portal Content Translation -> Translation Worlist Coordination to:
1) Generate worklist and add content
2) Generte translation data
3) Release for translation
After this, I am using Content Admin -> Portal Content Translation -> Worklist Translation for following:
1) Load worklist for translation
2) Translate worklist
I am facing difficulty in Translate Worklist. The step by step method followed by me are as below:
I am clicking on Content Admin -> Portal Content Translation -> Worklist Translation.
I am searching Translation Worklist and selecting my Worklist
After this I am selecting following
Source Language - English
Target Language - Spanish
Then I am clicking on 'Load for Translation' button. New screen appears. In this screen, Translatable Text table is shown:
It shows following
Number
Source Text <EN>
Target Text <ES>
Status
Object ID
In Status I can see 'Not Translated'. I click on Next for three times as there are three line Number (0, 1 & 2)
The Status does not change. It remains 'Not Translated'.
When I am using following combination
Source Language - Raw Texts
Target Language - Raw Texts.
I click on Next for three times as there are three line Number (0, 1 & 2). The status changes to Translated.
I do not know what is going wrong with my process while selecting Source Language - English & Target Language - Spanish .
I have another question. I have to translate content of entire URL iView. How I can change the whole content of URL iView.
In the source text I can NOT see the contents of URL iView.

Hi Prakash,
Did you check whether the translation has been done completely in PCD inspector? Some times you would have translated using Portal translation but it will not be written in the locale of the iView property. Then we have to set it manually in the PCD inspector.
Follow the procedure.
1. navigate to System Administration -> Support -> Portal Content Directory -> PCD Inspector
This will open the PCD inspector.
2. "Browse Into" the iview where you have developed it.
3. Click on the "All Props" for the iView which you need to translate.
This will open the Properties in new window
4. Check the property "com.sap.portal.pcm.title" what is maintained in Chinese? if it still displaying in English text against Chinese, Then you need to Edit the property for chinese and have to give the actual chinese word.
Note : I hope you would have selected "Raw Text" for Source language and "Chinese" as Target language. Pls confirm on this.

Doument Access - using Portal security or Document Database security

I originally posted this on the Security Form, but realized that it might be solved using the PDK.
I have a table in my database that contains information about a document (Name, Rev, Author, groups that have access). I want users to login to my portal and in a portlet, I want them to be able to click which docs they have access to see; based on who they are logged on as.
Would I use the PDK for this? If I use portal security, I think I will be maintaining the security twice (database and portal).

Using Portal in complex apps.

We are developing a fairly complex database application and we cannot get an answer on the possiblity of using Portal as a user interface, such as forms which we have used. Is Portal robust enough for us to use instead of forms. Can anyone give us a deployment of a like application.

I've tried both, adMob and Medialytics. Both Frameworks are very easily integrated with adMob being a little bit more elegant. It literally took me 5 Minutes to integrate ads in my app - from DL of the framework thru reading the docs until first run with ads!
Medialytics took a little longer to integrate...about 20 minutes I'd say but that was the analytics framework, not for ads. As far as I know medialytics is still not ready to serve ads.
Two days ago on October 5th I submitted my first app with ads. Still waiting for it to get ready for sale...

You need to use WLST online. I am not sure what your exact requirements are but one good way of working this is to have a WLST script that deletes all your WL customisations, like connection pools, JMS Servers etc and then creates it. That way you can run the same script repeatedly and it will get everything up to date for you. However you have to remember that everytime you add something new you need to update your delete section. Also your deleting should not fail if the item does not exist. I hope that makes sense!
