Push Button Reset - in System Restore's Protection Settings WHAT IS IT FOR?

I just did a REFRESH of my Acer ATC-105-UR10
After it came back to life I went looking the system to see if it set up correctly and I found this under Protection Settings when you go to Configure System Restore.
After Speaking to ACER’s technicial support.  I changed the settings for the SYSTEM Protection back to the way it was after the hard drive was REFRESHED.
AFTER I Did the Refresh.  I actually set PUSH BUTTON RESET to “ON”, since I thought it should be ON and protecting!
After the Reset of the PC when I Went to Recovery and looked at
CONFIGURE SYSTEM RESTORE it was set like this:
Available Drives       Protection
Acer (C) (System)     ON
Push Button Reset   OFF
I then changed “Push Button Reset” to “ON”.
I thought I better call Acer, and 2 technicians, one a supervisor, told me to set “Push Button Reset” to OFF again, since that is the way the technicians set this up in order to not damage the hard drive.
Since when it was Refreshed it was OFF, they said LEAVE IT AS YOU FOUND IT!
I HOPE THIS IS CORRECT!!
Here is how it looks NOW:    (IS THIS CORRECT???  What is PUSH BUTTON RESET for anyway???)
Will my PC still create restore points?  Is this correct?  Acer said leave it this way!

Hi,
For the Push-button reset, we may take a look at the following article:
Push-Button Reset Overview
In a word, the Push-Button Reset is for recovery purpose, to help satisfy the support obligations with faster average resolution times and fewer resources. It is used in Windows Recovery Environment, which should be considered as a recovery partition built
by Acer.
I don't think this would have an effect on the restore points. If we want to figure out what it acturally does, we'd better ask Acer side for detailed information.
Best regards

Sounds like the battery is shot and in need of a replacement.  You can have Apple replace the battery for a flat fee or you can send it into a third party repair center for a bit less.
Not much else you can do for troubleshooting this one.

my computer is telling me it does not recognise my ipdad mini and is asking me to restore to factory settings what happens if i do that will i lose all my photos, music etc? how do i get my computer to recognise my ipad mini?
    Thanks

have you backed up in the past with iTunes or iCloud? If so, it is possible that you will not lose this information, but I cannot guarantee anything.
Check for backups in iTunes by going to Preferences > Devices > Device backups
If you do not see any, and your iPad is still in working order, check for iCloud backups in Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup
Also, if your iPad is still in working order, you can backup with itunes before restoring : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766

  • Running a system restore and FIOS settings

I need to run a system restore on my PC.  I just recently had FIOS installed.  Will running a restore mess up those settings?  If it will screw those up, what do I need to do to get FIOS back up and running?

You don't need any of the FiOS branded software for your internet service to work.  As long as the networking drivers on your computer are working correctly, you will be good.  It might be good to install connection wizard though after you are done restoring windows.

  • My daughters ipad mini is frozen and will not swipe.  I have reset and the restored to factory settings

my daughter ipad mini is frozen.  it will not let me swipe.  I have rebooted and then restored to factory settings but I am still unable to swipe.
She has had problems with this ipad in the past and told at the reading store, by a pretty rude guy that we needed to buy a new one as it kept switching off.  it is only 14 months old and I do not ant to buy a new one if it will only last for this short time.   it has been working pretty much ok for the last month since our trip to the store but now it has totally frozen
please can someone help me as I can not afford to buy another

If you have restored the device as new, not from a backup and it is still malfunctioning, then you have a hardware problem. The warranty on the device is one year, but if you take it to the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service provider and it is determined there is a hardware fault, then you may qualify for an out of warranty replacement, which is at a reduced price, depending on your location. http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/repair/other/

  • My computer won't allow me to restore the factory settings. What am I doing wrong?

I am trying to restore my computer to the factory settings, but it won't allow me to erase everything from the hard drive. It won't even allow me to delete me as a user. What am I doing wrong?

You can't erase a volume while booted from it. Start up from the installation DVD, erase the volume, and reinstall.

  • Ive just restored to factory settings, what do i need to download?

I have just restored my imac to its orginal settings.  (Its Version 10.5.8)  What do i need to download in order to get it back up to the current software etc.  Everything I have tried so far has been a disaster!  Thanks anyone for the help!!

Hi, thanks for your help .... unfortunatley I cant get the app store.  To explain what happened: I had a partition on my hard drive (divid into two) I was running out of space so I restored the computer to factory sttings ... however, the hard drive still remained partitioned, so I was able to delete one half and make 'one single hard drive space.'
So where im at now is: I cant seem to install anything, I tried downloading and installing:
MacOSXUpd10.6.8 but it comes up saying : "This update requires Mac OS X version 10.6."
This is VERY frustrating, im not a tech whiz, so even explaining what has happened is difficult!
What do you suggest I do?  Thanks, Jason

  • Creating System Restore Points in Windows Server 2012

Searching for "Create a restore point" on Windows Server 2012, brings up a link that when clicked takes you to System Properties. Once there, there is no System Protection tab or option to create a system restore point. Windows Server Backup
    is installed and functioning.
Is this feature available in Windows Server 2012? Was it replaced with Shadow Copies for Shared Folders?
Thanks for any insight you can provide.

     HI,
To create a system restore point, run msconfig.exe, that will launch a UI, click the tools tab, select system restore, that should invoke a UI which asks if you want to  restore to an earlier version or do you want to create a new restore point. I clicked
"create a new restore point" The problem that I ran into is that when I click that button is I receive the error: can't find "C:\Windows\System32\rstrui.exe". That's the .exe which supports the "Create / restore point' processes. I
posted a question about the missing .exe on the windows > windows 8.1 > Repair and recovery forum and was told to post it here. :>) The subject title of that post is "rstrui.exe Create a system restore point on windows server 8 Standard".
That post documents the steps that I followed trying to create a system restore point. (FYI: I'm not trying to backup any drives. I know what a system restore point is and what backup is. They are two different animals). I want to create a restore
point prior in order to prep for installing an App. So, If a problem occurs; the registry keys and app files can be backed out to some extent. BTW: Create system restore point on windows 8.1does work perfectly well, there's a different UI. I just didn't
know where to post the initial problem.regards,Steve

  • Push button set to calculate form

    Hi Friends,
Ive to create calculator by simple form without any data service. Ive modeled form with push button to assign value from one field to another (push button option->action->system action->dynamic->action->formula with correct pass value from one field to another, but it doesn't work, it means field is empty after push button. do you know how to modeled button to put the result to the field? At the moment value puts to field automatically. I want to control this event by button. How?

Data Lines to be used as inputsSome parallel ports can be configured to use the data lines as inputs. It depends a great deal on the way the manufacturer designed the parallel port. With some models the data lines can be read the same way we read the control lines, by driving them to high logic so they will take on the value of an external signal. However, most parallel ports require that you set the direction bit for input. This is bit 5 in the Control register (base+2). If the port is capable of it, setting the direction bit high has the effect of making the lines tri-state so it can be driven externally. Sometimes it is also necessary to toggle bit 6 high or low. However, it should be noted that some manufacturers actually lock these bits so that software cannot change them. An example is shown below in Figure 7.
To test whether your data lines can be used for input, try the following:
Set bit 5 of the control register high (at base address+2).
With nothing connected to the port, write a couple of values to the data port, and read each back after you write it.
If the reads DON'T match the writes, your port is probably bidirectional. Setting C5 disabled the data outputs and you're reading the open inputs of the data-port buffer. If the reads DO match the writes, your port isn't bidirectional. The data outputs are still enabled, you're reading back what you wrote, and you won't be able to read external signals. If it is possible to use your data lines for input, then you just need to set control register bit 5 high and read from the value of the data lines at the base address.

  • Powerbook g4 12" failure to load with or without system restore disc

I searched around a bit and couldn't find anyone with exactly this problem. My hard drive failed a while ago, which I had kind of been expecting for a while. so i bought a new hitachi 120GB HD that is compatible with my machine.
i scrounged up my 10.2.3 system restore/install disc that came with my computer some 5 years ago, and tried to run it with my new hard drive. But my computer will not boot the disc. I ran the hardware checker disc, and everything turned out OK, but my computer will not boot the System Restore disc (I am holding C during startup to no avail). It gets to the gray apple and then the screen gets a thick horizontal line of static across it. if i try to boot without the sysrestore disc, i get a ? sign as if I was trying to run classic mode with a bad extension.
is my system restore disc busted or what? Is there another problem that the hardware checker disc couldn't find?
I don't really want to drop more money on a new OS, especially if it's not going to fix my problem.
oh and there are zero scratches on the disc- this is maybe the 2nd time ive taken it out of its sleeve/the bag that the sleeve came in. i don't understand why this isn't working and I really like this computer- this is the only serious problem it has ever had.

    Jack:
Thanks for the clarification. So even before the new HDD, the computer will not boot from the internal HDD or the install disk. However, it does start up, so that is good.
    Try Resetting the PRAM.
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step
    3. Turn on the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination immediately after the chime and before the gray screen appears.
    5. Hold the keys down for three chimes.
    6. Release the keys and allow to boot.
If still no joy, see if you can boot from the Apple Hardware Test disk that came with the computer. If you are able to boot, run all tests in a loop by holding down Command + L during the tests.
Let me know how it goes.
    Cheers

  • Pavilion m6 1045dx system restore

About 2 months ago my computer was in the process of completing an automatic update when it failed to restore my files and settings.  I have attempted Windows System Restore on many different occasions but to no avail.  It always fails to load my files and settings.  One error I get is, "System Restore could not access a file because an anti-virus program was running (0x80070005).  I disabled and then uninstalled that software and still no effect.
Now, I can no longer go back far enough to pick a restore point that includes my original settings.  At this point, I have accepted that what files that weren't backed up since the  last time I did so have been lost and I see my only option as doing a complete system restore to factory settings.  My question is will I require any system cds to complete this?  If I do, I'm up $hit creek and would welcome any other suggestions as the cds are in Montana and I am now living in Australia.
    TIA,
    Crista

As long as the Recovery partition is intact you should not require the recovery cd/dvd.

  • N97 mini system restore

Why isn't the OVI applications restored upon a system restore, I saved everything on my phone for restore if I needed to to a hard restet.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

No it doesnt matter. Some apps on mass memory require certain plugins. For example, if you install facebook on mass memory, and do a hard reset, the plugin API bridge would be deleted and facebook will not work anymore thus you need to reinstall yourself.
Doing a hard reset, you should always be prepared to reinstall and rebuild everything from scratch, especially since you should not restore settings and apps from backups anyway as the problems for which you are hoping a reformat would clear could be due to corruption in the installed files or settings files.
