Push e-mail from Videotron

Hi, I want to setup my Ipad to get messages from Videotron; it does, but only if the Mail is opened on Ipad. How and what should I setup to get the e-mails from Videotron as soon as they arrive in the Videotron server? Thanks.

I figured it out: i have to power down / up my Ipad. Thanks! Case closed!

  • Why can't I push my mail from iCloud to my MobileMe account?

I recently moved to iCloud and yesterday my MobileMe account stopped working. I update my software to OSX Lion and I can't figure out how to psh my mail from my iCloud account back to my MobileMe account. Can you help?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
iCloud and MobileMe are similar but separate services, iCloud is replacing MobileMe. Having migrated to iCloud you should now only use your iCloud account. You can access your iCloud e-mail, in your mail application by enabling it in system preferences >iCloud .

  • Push e-mail from Yahoo is unreliable?

I set up a yahoo.com mail address just to take advantage of the "push" feature. I also had my other e-mail addresses forward a copy of their messages to the yahoo account, so i can be notified of e-mails when they come in. This worked great for a day, and then it stopped working for at least an evening, without me having changed any settings. I still receive the e-mails, but only when I manually check for mail, and hence I don't get a new mail notification on my iphone, which is the whole point of having push.
Has Yahoo push service been flaky and unreliable in the past? Or am I neglecting a key setting or something.

Hello dgalvan123, Yahoo! push mail has never worked well consistently, you will find it working for a period of time, then all of the sudden it will just stop working. The problem lies with Yahoo! and their hardware/software. I've been in contact with Yahoo! about this problem since the original iPhone came out and still we have no permanent fix.
    All the best, Steve....

  • IPhone 3GS: Push e-mail now only works on 3GS, not WiFi

    Greetings,
Well, my iPhone 3GS (iOS 5.1.1, which it's been running for a long time) suddenly stopped receiving pushed e-mail from my Yahoo e-mail account (the only one of my accounts that offers push) over WiFi at home.  Now Push only works when I'm on 3G.  It used to work on both.  Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    DM

    Have you
    - restarted the phone?
    - made a hard reset? Simultaneously press the sleep/wake and the home buttons for 10-15 seconds until the device reboots (ignore the shutdown screen).
    - force quit the app? When in the app, press on the sleep/wake button until the shutdown screen appears, then press the home button until the app quits.

  • Is there a way to disable push mail from Yahoo? It's draining my battery

I'm on the prepaid plan and every 10-15 minutes my iphone turns on with a "The last transaction cost $0.00" message. I don't mind the message (although it is a bit annoying) but my problem is that this turns the LCD on for about 2 minutes at a time.
I charged my battery to 100% last night, haven't used it at all today and after just turning it on a few minutes ago I had the "Your battery life is at 10%" message followed by a 5% remaining message a few minutes later.
I've heard that it's the yahoo push mail service thats causing the phone to give the message (since it connects to the internet). My Yahoo account is my main one and I'd hate to have to login to yahoo's site each time to check it (the email functionality was a big selling point for me with the iphone). ATT/Apple don't seem to want to disable this message/"Feature", so I'm guessing I would need to step in and do something on my end.
Is there any way to disable yahoo mail from "pushing" messages to my phone? I can hit the Check Mail button if I have to.

    Hi Everyone,
To give an update on the situation: I disabled the Yahoo account and it seems to make a VERY NOTICEABLE difference in battery life - prior to this my battery would drain quite rapidly but since disabling it it's only lost about 15-20% over the past 24 hours (and thats with using the video/music/internet functions for about an hour and a half).. Prior to this it would have been close to drained under the same circumstances.
Also, to confirm, the "Your last transaction cost 0.00" messages only appear when accessing the internet manually now. before they appeared every 10-15 minutes with no interaction from myself at all (while it was sitting idle, while watching videos, while charging, while in my pocket, etc..)
I do have it set to only check Manually but Yahoo would seem to check on it's own even though this setting is checked (I'm guessing it has to do with the Push setting). Aside from draining the battery, it was quite annoying having 30 or so "Your transaction cost $0.00" messages to click through whenever I turned on the phone.
I did have the screen set to shut off after 1 min, but the 'your transaction cost..' messages would first wake the iphone up, the screen would stay bright for about 30 seconds, dim for about 30 seconds, then turn on bright again for 1 minute until it shut off. I'm guessing the screen (being on for about 10-15 minutes per hour due to this) and the fact that yahoo accesses the internet on such a frequent basis are what cut the battery life down.
I really wish I could make Yahoo work more like Gmail and have it manually search for new mail

  • Accessing Outlook Mail Which Receives Push Mail From Yahoo

I have Outlook 2007 on a PC that I use for work. I do not use an exchange server. Rather, I receive my mail from Yahoo via push to Outlook 2007 on my PC. I have my iPhone set up using Yahoo. After I read my mail and delete the messages on my iPhone, I find that when I connect to my PC to sync, all the emails I deleted on my iPhone appear again on it. I can only assume that they are being brought back because the iPhone is getting them from Outlook 2007. I need to keep the emails on my PC in Outlook 2007 for future reference, but not on the iPhone. Is there any way I can still keep syncing my contacts and calendar with Outllook 2007 but keep the deleted email from appearing on my iPhone again?
    Thank you!

Turning off SSL will help for incoming mail, but it will disable your ability to send email. At least, that is what happened to my sbcglobal.net account. SSL is required for outgoing mail. And for incoming mail, when I turned SSL off, I got a nasty email from AT&T that not using SSL was a big no-no. I have scoured the forums and all of the online sources I could find, and there does not appear to be a good fix. Has anyone called Apple Tech Support or AT&T about this issue? I assume that people have, and that Apple and AT&T have not provided a viable solution. Hopefully there will be a fix in a future update to Leopard. 10.5.2 didn't seem to fix the problem.

  • Versamail Exchange ActiveSync wireless push e-mail ONLY; Sync Contacts/Calendar via Desktop/USB

I use a 3rd party conduit, PalmPilot Link for Commence RM CRM software from Commence Corp. which works with the Palm Desktop sync engine to sync my Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Memos. Recently I tested VersaMail 3.5.5 on my Rogers Treo 680 (despite zero support from Rogers) with push e-mail and loved it until I discovered I could no longer sync my Contacts and Calendar with Commence. Even with the options in VersaMail to sync Contacts and the Calendar unchecked they would not sync via the USB cable to Commence.
I have come across Palm Article ID: 42600 which states "Once you establish an Exchange ActiveSync account in VersaMail, you will not be able to sync Calendar, Contacts or Email through the USB HotSync cable". It would be nice if this wasn't the case when synching of Contacts and the Calendar are turned off. A call to technical support confirmed there is no way to do what I need with the current product version.
I have found a competitive product, RoadSync from DataViz does allow me to sync ONLY e-mail with ActiveSync so it would seem to be technically possible.  The problem with RoadSync is it's not a true push e-mail on the Treo 680 as far as I can tell and it seems a little pricey with fewer features than VersaMail, except for one feature which is very important to anyone who depends on 3rd party conduits.
Please consider releasing a new version or a patch to allow synching Contacts and the Calendar via USB while using Exchange ActiveSync push e-mail.
Note: The Commence CRM product for Windows has been around for almost 20 years and has supported the Palm OS for about 10 years. Commence users everywhere would love this feature in VersaMail. I do not work for Commence Corp. but have been a user since 1991 and a Palm user since 1999.

  • How to configure N9 for push e-mail?

Does anybody know how to configure N9 for push e-mail? It should be possible because push email is part of Nokia's N9 official specs but I'm unable to find any reference in the manual or online.

I know that I am late to the party but just got my N9.  The push email works fine for my Exchange & my Gmail but for my mail.com account (which I believe is really AOL) it only syncs when I manually tell it to.  I have it set to "always up to date" ... does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!
Update: just fixed it myself but in case it helps anyone I turned on the Push Notifications & that did the trick.  Which is kind of odd bc I notifications from my Gmail & MS Exchange automatically did it but I guess that feature has to be turned on for this email.
Wish all the features on the N9 had the "I" icon which you could press for more info as I thought that option would just let you know when your email was syncing (like the little arrow on the top right).  Oh well - now if I can just get my contacts/calendar off of my PC's OutLook & onto my N9 ...................
    Cheers!

  • Fix for anyone having "push" E-Mail issues...

I finally found a fix for push E-Mail (hitting your phone automatically without you manually having to check.) It works like a charm and my push E-Mail has been working for two days now without one problem.
Turn off "push" in mail/contacts/calendar/fetch new data
Under mail/contacts/calendar/fetch new data go to the "advanced" button...make sure all accounts are set to "manual"...
    reboot your phone...
Go back to mail/contacts/calendar/fetch new data and turn on push again...then go to the "advanced" button and set all of your accounts back to "push".
Reboot the phone and you are all set!
This is one of many bugs with Apple/iPhone that after 3 years still have not been addressed. Thanks to Google that supplied the fix. Hope this helps others who still fight this battle...

Thanks for the information, I was having a difficult time getting Push to show up for my daughter's iTouch. I had no problem with my iPhone. I couldn't understand why the Push feature was missing from her iTouch.

  • Mac E-Mail Not Receiving Incoming Mail From ATT/Yahoo Mail Server

Recently "upgraded" to ATT U-verse. My Mac email client (3.6) suddenly not receiving incoming mail from the web-based ATT/Yahoo. Settings-all are correct: Telephone talk with Tier 1 and Tier 2 ATT reps confirmed "unusual" problem, and that the settings (ports, ssl, etc.) are indeed all correct. Tier 2 supervisor referred ticket (F23576784) to the brilliant minds at Yahoo for help. I've heard nothing for five days. Some emails do get received on my client, from (Apple, ATT, for example). Others languish on the web-based mail, with no push to my iMac. Tests of sending myself e-mails continue to confirm problem, with test emails sitting at Yahoo server, no push to my Mac client.
I am able to send e-mails successfully from client. Interestingly, a couple of incoming e-mails from friends did manage to slip through the lines and arrive in my Mac client a couple of days late. Brave little souls, they're not talking.
I've tried all sockets, all other settings possible, but no luck. Why is there no straight-forward answer to this proliferating problem? Odd e-mail behaviors? No documented or shared answers by the big outfits to Mac users? Mac mail virtually disabled and useless? Has anyone found a path to resolving the varied but similar problems in this area yet? Thanks in advance for any help offered beyond adjusting preferences over and over and over. That ain't working.
    Stuiee

Geez, some emails are getting through, most are not forwarded to my client MacMail. They are also marked as read, which could mean that Yahoo is forwarding them somewhere...(?) Can't get ahold of Yahoo, ATT forwards me to Yahoo, Yahoo has no method of emailing real, technical questions, ATT supervisor actually called Apple and there is nothing wrong with the OS or my set up requirements.
Does anyone know a workaround for setting up smtp requirements? Can't switch email clients at this time, would take a lot of changing existing contact info for bizz.
At this point all I would like to know is, where is the problem? Why does a server (ATT/Yahoo) send some mail to my account, not send others, and marks all messages on the webmail as read? Thanks for the one response, I do believe the problem is some minor error set at the isp's server software for Macs, but who knows?

Is there a push e-mail app for windows which downloads mail from the server just like emoze in android....??

Just wondering if anyone has found  an Android App that will successfully support Push e-mail for various different account types...
I've tried the native e-mail App on my Samsung Galaxy S2 & although it's supposed to support Push seems only to partly do it - e-mails will come in at 10 minute intervals although no polling frequency has been set by me, but not in real time.
Gmail works well with Gmail account, but can't add other types of accounts.
Tried the Yahoo mail App - only one I've actually found so far that truly works as Push ie in real-time but only supports btinternet.com addresses, not Gmail or btconnect.com addresses. And the notification sound is very distacting & cannot be changed - either on or off!
I'm currently using K9 which is very nice & works with all e-mail accounts but again although supposedly supporting Push, does not.
In what way does it not work ?
It works fine (for some definition of "push"...) for me...provided the server supports it.  The Yahoo IMAP servers, for example, don't appear to support IMAP IDLE.

I don't know what the XYM... stuff is - possibly some proprietary stuff that enables thier own app to work.
If Yahoo & Gmail can make Apps that work for their e-mails surely someone has come up with an App that supports Push for others too??
Any suggestions folks, although I'm not holding my breath

  • Converting my Mail from POP to IMAP

I am considering converting my ISP email account in Apple Mail from POP to IMAP. I had never given this much (any) thought until I recently got an iPhone and noticed that the email account that it setup for my ISP email (Charter) was an IMAP one. This has created a little bit of a conflict and has sometimes resulted in my inbox or get mail on my desktop Apple Mail being "locked up" for a while when I have just previously read the mail on my iPhone. (I get the message on my iMac that my ISP email is currently in use by another mail client). I had never run into this problem before and I've read that it does happen and happens more often when you have both POP and IMAP clients trying to access the same mail server.
One question is do I just go into the accounts settings on Mail on my iMac and change the incoming and outgoing servers to the appropriated IMAP ones? Or should I create a whole new account in Mail and use the IMAP settings from the start? What will happen to the folders and subfolders I already have in my Mail program? Going forward with IMAP, will I be able to download the emails from the server like I have always done and categorize them into folders using Mail?
This is all kind of confusing right now. Thanks.
    Steve M.

    You're welcome.
Is there any harm in leaving my desktop Mail as is (POP account) and just realizing that I may experience an occasional "lock out"?
There is no harm with doing so, but I'm not sure why you would want to.
How do I release the email account from my iPhone?
There is no option for this.
I already have my data settings on the iPhone to "fetch" every hour--not to push. But does this apply to the IMAP account on the iPhone?
Push access for received messages applies to an email account that supports Push access. The following email accounts support Push access for received messages:
    MobileMe
    Exchange
A Yahoo account created with the Yahoo account preset.
"If" I decided to convert my desktop Mail account to IMAP, could I not just "add" the new account? Would I necessarily have to delete the POP account?
You don't have to delete the POP account, but you would want to make it inactive or disable the account with the Mail app - Mail > Settings > Accounts > Select the Account > Under the Advanced tab for the account settings deselect Enable this account.
If you want access to the locally stored messages in the POP account's Inbox and Sent mailbox with the iPhone's Mail app, you want want to copy the messages to a server stored mailbox or mailboxes after creating the account as an IMAP account.
Can I setup the account as POP on my iPhone and just keep it all POP? Or is this dependent on Charter's policies?
This depends on Charter, but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to access the account as a POP account with the iPhone's Mail app as well, but this will not get rid of the "locked out" problem on occasion.
A POP account is from the early dark ages of email account access with an email client on a computer when the overwhelming majority at the time had access to a single computer only - before there were laptops and laptops became mainstream, and before there were handheld cell phones much less cell phones in the smart phone category. Until the iPhone, phones in the smart phone category were primarily targeted and sold to the business/enterprise market, not to the consumer market. The iPhone changed all that - just look at all the copies and different phones in the smart phone category that surfaced after the original
Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only and includes a number of limitations that are not a problem with an IMAP account, which is specifically designed to be accessed with more than one email client.
There is no "locked out" problem with an IMAP account. You can store the account's Drafts, Sent, Trash, and Junk mailboxes on the server with the Mail app on your Mac, and the account's Drafts, Sent, and Trash mailboxes on the server with the iPhone's Mail app. The account's Junk mailbox stored on the server with the Mail app on your Mac will be available automatically when accessing the account with the iPhone's Mail app along with all other server stored mailboxes created for the account with the Mail app on your Mac or via webmail access for the account using a browser. You can transfer received and sent messages to additional server stored mailboxes by category with the Mail app on your Mac and with the iPhone's Mail app which will be reflected automatically with each email client. All server stored mailboxes are kept synchronized with the server automatically with each email client used to access the account. Sent a message with the iPhone's Mail app and the message will be available in the account's Sent mailbox with the Mail app on your Mac automatically and vice-versa. Read a new message with the Mail app on your Mac and the message will be marked as read automatically when accessing the account's Inbox mailbox with the Mail app on your Mac and vice-versa. Transfer a received message to a user created server stored mailbox with iPhone's Mail app and the message will be available in that server stored mailbox automatically when accessing the server stored mailbox with the Mail app on your Mac and vice-versa.
I keep the Mail app on my Mac launched and running 24/7 checking my IMAP account for new messages. I have the account's Junk mailbox stored on the server with the Mail app on my Mac, which is available automatically when accessing the account with the iPhone's Mail app and the same with my iPad 2. Any received message that is marked as junk and moved to the account's Junk mailbox stored on the server with the Mail app on my Mac is reflected automatically with the account's Inbox mailbox and Junk mailbox with the iPhone's Mail app and with the iPad's Mail app. The junk mail filter with the Mail app on my Mac is serving as the junk mail filter for the account with my iPhone and iPad as well - remotely since all server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account are kept synchronized with the server with each email client used to access the account.
NONE of this is available with a POP account.
If you have the option to access your email account as an IMAP account and you access the account with an email client on more than one computer or device, to me it is a no-brainer which way to go - IMAP, which is specially designed for this.

  • Updated my iphone 3gs to the ios4.3.5. Now the mail application doesn't function properly. App doesn't sync mail from server - deleting mail hardly works now. When the phone downloads messages from the mail server, it bounces/flashes between accounts too

I recently upgraded to Lion and then updated my iphone to iOS 4.3.5. Now my mail app on the phone seems all messed up. When I check mail, it pulls down mail from the server but I have to go into each individual account to make that happen but even then the view automatically bounces from one mail account to another but never to the Microsoft Exchange server. It also doesn't let me delete mail

I have wasted much time trying different combinations to have push and gmail "send mail as". I guess I have tried so much because it seems like a no brainer.
If you set up as exchange you can at least add in the extra comma and address, but it disappears when you go to send an email.
very frustrating indeed. my solution is to use the gmail app for notifications of new email.

  • Ipad 2 not auto receiving mail from IMAP account

    Hi, I have an iPad 1 & 2 and an iPhone 3Gs.
I have may email accounts with different servers, Apple, Yahoo, Google & 1&1.
All auto receive mail via push, except for the 1&1 acc on the iPad2.
Checked & double checked settings are same as on iPhone & iPad 1 which both receive mail from that account without issues.
The only way I can get to see new mail from the 1&1 acc on it is to open the mail app and sit back for it to come in!
What could I possibly be doing wrong? Is anyone else having the same issue?

I am. I have a G5 and an iPad. I can get my mail from the G5, or by logging onto the server via Internet, but my mail app tells me it can't connect to the server. I've tried all the fixes on the other, similar threads... Set both fetch to manual, hard restart, reconfigure, etc. I can get it to work once after hard reboot.
