Push not working on wifi

Hi,
I just bought an iphone yesterday and push doesn't work on wifi. That's what I bought the phone for. Any ideas??? Is Apple on this?

What sort of e-mail account are you attempting to use? (Gmail? Yahoo? MobileMe? AOL? etc.) Please be specific.
FYI... I'm using Push with two separate e-mail accounts (Yahoo and MobileMe) on an iPhone 3G with v3.1.3 reliably on both 3G and WiFi.

I have also been having the Y!Mail push issue. I noticed it several weeks ago. It used to be that I would get the email push almost immediately after Y!Messenger told me that I received an email. I now will receive the email push sometimes 30 minutes later, sometimes 40 minutes, sometimes hours later. And sometimes never, because I opened up the Mail widget and it does the fetch. Here is what I have done so far (I do hard restarts each time I make a change): I deleted my Y mail account on the iPhone and added it back. No workee for me. I turned wi-fi off so that I am on 3G. Nope - no pushes. I turned on all of my secondary mail servers. Still no workee. I removed all my installed apps, thinking one of them might be causing interference, but no difference. I have performed Restores on the iPhone with no change. I contacted Y!Mail Tech Supt. We swapped emails a couple of times; still don't get the email pushes. Last email from them requested that I send some information to an AT&T employee who would be working on this issue. Well, I sent the info but haven't heard back from him. Very frustrating.
So just to see if it was my iPhone or a system problem, I sent a test email to my wife's iPhone 3Gs. I sat with the phone for over an hour and no email push. I asked my brother(iPhone 3G) if he gets his email pushes. He says he has never received an email push from Y!Mail since he got the phone last spring.
So is this an Apple issue? Or Yahoo? Or AT&T? Should I make an appt at the Apple Genius Bar and see if one of their gurus can fix it? Maybe one of the Apple iPhone techs that monitor this forum can chime in.

I have been having very high data usage. My iPhone 5 will not stay connected to wifi or will totally not work on wifi. Provider is AT&T.

It hasent been updated to support iphone 5 screen size yet, it will come in time.

Sorry it is just not enough info to be able to figure it out.
Do a full factory reset and start over.. that is the best way out of the hole.
Using ethernet is far far superior to using wireless at least for setup.
Using iOS device with airport utility is better than using wireless via a Mac with airport utility if you have MBA or MBPr.. but it is still better to buy a usb or thunderbolt to ethernet dongle so you have actual real connection and not a vapourous one.

Keyboard dictation function not working with wifi

very curious thing happening. the 'mic' icon activated dictation function
is not working in wifi mode on my iphone at home. you get the dancing
balls and no text ever appears. in 4g mode dictation works fine. wifi seems to be working
ok. dictation on my wifi only ipad is ok. only tried this at home but since
wifi seems to work ok i have no reason to believe
that wifi is the issue.

I tried rebooting mine twice and it didn't work. I disabled Siri, then enabled Siri and it worked temporarily. I had to repeat disable/enable of Siri serval times over the course of the day, seemingly at least an hour apart before it seemed to work. Even now there seems to be a bit of a lag between when I speak and when it types, but it does work finally.

C3-00 Mail is not working with Wifi

I have Nokia C3-00, Its good set but the problem appeared when i tried to use my office Wifi connection in my mobile. Email and communities are not working with Wifi while messenger and browsing is very good with Wifi. However i have used Mail option (gmail, hotmail, yahoo) with my mobile GPRS connection that is working fine but not with Wifi. GPRS is very costly and i want to use office Wifi with my mobile to use email application. Please help me out. Thanks Adnan

There was an issue with messaging in the original software on the C3, so make sure that you are up-to-date. To check your software version try *#0000#
Latest software release for Nokia C3-00 is 08.63
Your service provider may not have the latest nokia version available, but make sure you have the most recent you can get.

IMessage does not work with wifi

My iMessage feature on Iphone 5 does not work with wifi setting... I have to turn DATA on for any messages to be received or sent! I've noticed others with same problem...any fixes yet? I've updated iOS, etc...

My iMessage is not working over wifi. But it's only at my house. Actually it worked a while ago but then it stopped working.
The browser, email, app store, youtube and any other apps are working just fine over the wifi. It's only my iMessage. It won't send any message. It say message not delivered. Does anybody what is going on and what can I do to fix it? Thanks, before. (:

You mean you moved your music files to the external. The library is more than the music files.
Just copy the \Music\iTunes\ folder from internal to the Time Capsule.
Add the Time Capsule to your Login items in System prefs -> Accounts.
Hold Option and launch iTunes and select *Choose library*.
Select the iTunes library file int ehiTunes folder on the Time Capsule.
It is hte samae library you have previously. All artwork playlists, ratings, songs, movies, etc. will be there.
Genius is already there so nothing needs to be done.

I have the galaxy s5 so does my wife and daughter, and when we are at home we hook up to the wifi, and try to use that to save on data usage. for some reason it does not load photos, comments and videos for a long time. the laptop, tablets, and tv all work fine off of the wifi. we have the same issue in public wifi. any reason?

Yes the pages load fine on data. But even games I have that use internet
don't always work right. But if I turn off the wif i. it works fine. I am
beginning to wonder if I made a mistake leaving sprint.

anyone else also noticed that the push mail option is not working properly with wifi but works well with 3g internet connection?

Moraaac !! you saved my lifeee !! i was just preparing to make a restore of my iphone 3.1.2.. and .. disabling push on settings like 10 seconds and enabling again i received all my notifications again... im loving you u saved me 3 or 4 hours of restoring my phone and my apps thank you SOOOO MUCH

I have a locked iphone 3GS with os3.1. yesterday i installed Ping! and it didn't work. i uninstalled it and installed it for about 4 times and still it didnt work. I restored my iphone and it didnt work also. I then read the faq of Ping! and they said it might be a push issue. I tried IM+ and push didnt work there also. I downloaded notify me, and ebuddy and also push didnt work for both of them. I checked my settings and made sure that push notifications are on for all the above applications. Can any one help me and tell me what to do in this case?!
P.S: I am currently outside london so I am on roaming with data roaming off but wifi is always on.

Your problem is there is no record of where your base station is. Since you have airplane mode on your phone cannot use the gps receiver or the mobile network to pinpoint the location. For the location of the base station to be known it needs to be recorded in a database on the internet.
Instead of turning on airplane mode, remove the SIM from the iPhone. With airplane off and no SIM you will be able to use GPS but not make or receive phone calls and text. It may also update the location database with your base station location, but I cannot confirm it.

Push only works on WiFi - iOS 5.1.1 on 3GS 32GB

I recently went back to my old iPhone after much frustration with another smartphone product that I wont mention here. I updated the phone to 5.1.1 as reccomended by iTunes and started setting up mail etc and everything worked as expected. But then I noticed that push was not working whenever I have 2G/3G data enabled.
If I have WiFi only enabled, push comes in fast and works great. If I have 2G/3G data only, or 2G/3G data + WiFi, I never receive push notifications, not even if I go into the individual apps first as some people suggest.
It just so happens that I work for a major Canadian Wireless carrier and I have access to some pretty cool tools that enable me to see packet data coming from the device going towards the internet. What I can see here is that the device does NOT initiate any connection to the nn-courier.push.apple.com servers on port 5223, ie. this is some kind of device issue. There isnt even a DNS request or anything to indicate the device is interested in making the connection at all.
On my WiFi network, a DNS request and the connection to the push server is made immediately when WiFi comes up.
Does anybody have any experience with this problem, is it something wrong with my settings (hard to imagine since it works fine on WiFi only). Anyone from Apple care to disclose any known bugs?
If I can't get anything from here I'll have no choice but to talk to Apple but given the age of the device I'm not sure how supportive they will be.

Some useful info I found over at http://imfreedom.org/wiki/IMessage which is related to Mac OSX version of iMessage however it looks like the code was reused for iPhone based on what I am seeing:
Push connection
The applepushserviced first does a DNS TXT query for "push.apple.com" [ nslookup -query=txt push.apple.com] . This will return "count=50" or some number XX. The daemon then creates a name using a number between 1..XX and creates DNS name X-courier.push.apple.com. This DNS name is then handle by Akamai DNS to return an ipaddress in the 17.X netblock that belongs to Apple.
Then, applepushserviced connects to a host on port 5223. These present a certificate for courier.push.apple.com, and only accept connections which present a client side certificate (retrieved in the previous step).
So the question now is, why I dont have DNS request for 50-courier.push.apple.com? Seems like an application issue if it will send the request when the iPhone is connected to WiFi only, but if 2G/3G is connected it doesnt send the request.
I'll try to follow up with Apple but if anyone has any opinions please share them.
