Push notification with ical server to known Attendees of the OD

Hello Apple-Community.
I have a Problem with the Push-Invitations of my Mac Server.
Here´s my background:
- MAC OS X 10.6.4 as Mail-Server, Ical-Server, OD-Master
- Ical and Thunderbird Lightning 1.02b as Calendar-Clients
My Problem:
Every Attendee in my Calender-System with an E-Mail, listet in the OD under the field "mail" eg. "EMailAddress" doesn´t get any Invites via E-Mail. If I delete the EMailAdress in my OD, the user gets an E-Mail-Invitation.
My target:
I want modify the System. The Push-Notification-Server shall send always an E-Mail to every Attendee of an appointment.
I would modify the appropriate configuration file but I have really no idea, where I can search.
I hope, that someone can help me.
Best regards.
Ornaminer

I have a very similar configuration with all PC Thunderbird/Lightning clients. I need the same resolution, but think that an add-on to Thunderbird/Lightning that would accept the event push notifications and allow a response is also a solution. Is there anyone how can develop such an add-on?
Cheers,
Steve

  • 3party calendar apps and invitations with iCal Server - Mac/PC enviro

We are a mixed OS company with macs and PCs. The macs are currently using iCal client software which is working great. However, our PC users are using Thunderbird-Lightning extension. In iCal or the web GUI, users get an invitation notification to accept or deny. Currently, with our thunderbird-lightning clients when they receive the meetings, it is automatically populated in their calendars without the option to accept or deny. Is there a way to fix this? Also when thunderbird-lightning clients try to email members to a meeting it will try to send to the UID and not the users email address, even it is defined in osx workgroup mng. Lastly we would like to add email notifications for all meetings, if possible.
What other windows calendar clients seem to work best with iCal Server? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi!
Have you had a look at eMClient? works with IMAP and CalDAV on Widows, even Windows 7, and is free.

  • Which mail client do I use with iCal server?

I will soon have os x server, and I want to use iCal server with mail. I want to schedule meetings, etc., like Exchange. However, many people have Outlook. Some have Entourage. Will these clients with with iCal for scheduling meetings and if not which client can I use? Thank you.

    Which Platform are the clients?
Apple Mail does not work directly with iCal server. The Leopard version of iCal is what is used for scheduling. Mail is not like Outlook on PC or Entourage on the Mac where email, calendering and contacts are in one application. Leopard uses Mail, iCal, Address Book to provide similar functions.

Tells you all the 3rd Party client apps that work with iCal Server.

  • Gateway implementation for Push Notification with SMP

    Hello there,
We have a requirement for mobile application we are developing. We are using SAP NetWeaver gateway services to push the data to mobile devices (Android). We are using SMP to achieve the push notification.
We have configured SMP to receive the registration from android devices. In the back end system, we can see the subscribed devices in the table /IWBEP/D_MGW_SUB. Currently, we are using REST client to send the notification to individual device (Using <APPCID>). However, we need to send the notification directly from gate way service (ABAP side) to all registered devices on occurrence of some event (Database change). Can you please help on how to send notification from gate way service (ABAP) to SMP, and in turn to the device? And refer some documents regarding the same if any?
Thank you very much in advance!

For push notification, you have to use security profile as "Notification" and have to add required role as "Notification User". You can also add other authentication providers as you mentioned for MYSAPSSO2.
    Settings>Security profiles>Notification(Cannot be deleted)
For APNs traffic to get past your firewall, you'll need to open these ports:
TCP port 5223 (used by devices to communicate to the APNs servers)
TCP port 2195 (used to send notifications to the APNs)
TCP port 2196 (used by the APNs feedback service)
TCP Port 443 (used as a fallback on Wi-fi only, when devices are unable to communicate to APNs on port 5223)
Send Push Notifications to the Device

  • Push Notification Issues - Lion Server 10.7

    Hey All,
Am having a few issues with Push on Lion, it seems to work for a short period of time after setting up, then seems to stop being able to push.  Today I woke up to a server running at a constant ~60% processor utilisation and this error repeating itself over and over again in the log...
Jul 29 15:11:05 mail push_notify[105]: discarding message; not connected to notification server
There is also single errors from com.apple.APNBRidge saying "Disconnected from apn feedback server feedback.push.apple.com for topic com.apple.mail.xserver.xxxxxxxxxxxx: error (null) - there is one for each different service push supports and they are straight after connect messages.
Do Push services require any ports opening up? I did have the server set up in DMZ for a while but it still managed to fall over, so I took it back out.  However I'd imagine the server is sending notifications out rather than listening in for anything.
I've reinstalled this server around 5 times now and am reaching the end of my patience!  Everytime Push starts working then stops, last night Web services fell over and I was getting database connection errors, as there were push notification errors in the log, I un-ticked and re-ticked the Apple Push notification checkbox and things came back up.  It's a shame it seems very temperamental as it's such a huge feature.  I have this one set with a self signed cert, set up as per when you enable profile server.  This is also trusted by any devices testing.
I've turned Push off for the moment as it seems intent on bringing down the rest of the services I have set up Just turned off Mail and the processor use dropped to almost nothing, restarted it and things are now calm.
Also anyone know how to set up automount's from the command line?  My production environment has NFS sharepoints for User directories - for the purpose of being able to use fast user switching on client machines (AFP doesn't support this).  Exports are easy as are in a file, but I'm struggling with the automounts.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers all.

Any luck on this?  I got my Lion Server running and managed to get puch notifications on Mail, but no luck with iOS.  Appear to have the same problem:

    Thanks for your help

By default, push notifications are turned off.
You need to configure your Edge Server to have a federation relationship with the cloud-based Lync Server 2010 Push Notification Service, which is located in the Lync Online datacenter, and run a cmdlet to
    enable push notifications

  • Problems with iCal Server 2 and Snow Leopard Clients

I am currently running iCal Server 2 on Snow Leopard Server, with approximately 6 client computers connected to a single shared calendar account.  I have digest authentication enabled, and am thus using Kerberos (but not SSH), as well as 3 iPhones.
Upon initial connection, I can get all the clients - computers and phones - to properly pull down all the calendar data, and match one another.  However, several of the computers are having trouble updating properly when new events are added.  After some troubleshooting, it seems that the computers running Snow Leopard are not properly updating with events that are entered from other computers, either Snow Leopard or Leopard.  They can, however, post events to the server themselves without any errors.  Interestingly, the Leopard computers can push and pull updated events just fine, and will update with new events whether they originated from a Snow Leopard or a Leopard client.
We had some recurring login/authentication issues a while back, which seemed to resolve when I disabled digest authentication; I'm wondering if perhaps that has something to do with the problems now.  We're mostly using BusyCal as client software, with the iPhones obviously using iCalendar.
Just looking to see if anyone else has had similar problems, with Leopard clients working well and Snow Leopard clients having issues.  Thanks!

    Noby_me,
A lot of folk are having major issues with many Adobe programs and Snow Leopard. You are not alone. For many, rolling-back to Leopard has been the cure. From "word on the street," it appears that Apple is aware of these issues and are working on an OS update. I have no schedule, but that word was out about a month ago, so let's hope that the update is soon in coming.
You might want to do a Search on this, the Encore and the PS fora for "Snow Leopard." There are plenty articles.
    Good luck,

  • ICal client with iCal server. Bug with delegation of calendars with plenty

    Hi,
I have a working setup with an iCal server on OSX 10.5.2 that is also an OD master. I have several users with calendars hosted on the server. Only Mac clients so far. Everything seems to work when managing your own calendars. The problem I see is when I delegate my calendar to another user. None or just a few of the entries show up in the other users view of my calendar.
I experimented a little and found out that it probably has to do with the number of items in the calendar. I have a calendar that contains several years of historic entries and when I start to delete entries everything eventually start to work. My calendar shows up OK in the other users view.
I am not completely sure if it is the number of items in the calendar or if it is some specific entry that cause the problem but I can recreate the problem over and over again if I import the exported calendar, delegate and refresh as the other user.
If I start to edit away entries in the exported iCal file I finally get a working setup.
If somebody at Apple is interested I can provide the exported iCal file and it should be quite easy to recreate the bug.

  • DeadLocks on Query Notifications with SQL Server 2008 SP3

    Hello,
according to this article https://support.microsoft.com/kb/975090 the issue with deadlocks on query notifications should be fixed with SQL Server 2008 SP3 (10.0.5500.0). But we still get deadlocks in the following manner:

Is there any need to install another fix?
    Thanks in Advance!

    Hello,
SQL Server 2008 SP4 and all cumulative updates of SP3 do not have fixes related to deadlocks.
Maybe the following workarounds and solutions can help in your scenario.
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3707137/understanding-deadlocks-with-sql-server-query-notifications
Deadlock Prevention. In case you need to lock multiple conversation groups in a transaction, you need to take the same order to lock the different conversation groups in all transactions, otherwise you will have a deadlock issues.

  • Group calendars on 10.6.4 client machines no longer work with iCal Server

After updating 2 client machines to 10.6.4 I realized my group calendars no longer work in iCal.
I get "Server Responded With an Error" on all my group calendars, on both machines.
Preferences>Accounts>Server Path reveles the server path has reverted back to a GUID "/principals/_uids_/GUID string/" .
I change it back to "/principals/_uids_/wiki-GroupName/" and get it working again, but if I quit iCal and restart it again reverts back to the GUID.
I've trashed all calendars in ~/Library/Calendars, and the Prefs. I also tried "/principals/wikis/GroupName/", but again it reverts.
I booted to my 10.6.3 clone and have no problems with the group calendars there.
    (I'm running 10.6.4 Server)
Is anyone else having this issue?
    Any ideas?

Are you asking for an example of how to use calendarservermanageprincipals? While the tool is designed to help you configure privileges on resources and locations, it works fine for users. So I created a new user in Workgroup Manager to represent my Marketing department's calendars. I named this user "sharedmarketing".
Then, I wanted to give staff read-only access to the calendar and give Marketing write access, so I executed these two commands:
    sudo calendarservermanageprincipals --add-write-proxy groups:marketing users:sharedmarketing
    sudo calendarservermanageprincipals --add-read-proxy groups:staff users:sharedmarketing
I then imported the content from the Marketing Wiki calendar into this calendar and that was it!
If I logged in directly to the sharedmarketing account (not necessary), and looked how the account was set to be delegated, it properly showed group names:
There is no way to configure it like this using the iCal GUI, and this was I always felt that the management of privileges was the biggest obstacle in setting up iCal Server in this proper, supported fashion.
Then, from the client, I can naturally access those group calendars:
This is SO much easier to setup and maintain as each user only needs to have their ONE iCal account configured and they can just add the necessary groups, which is WAY easier than supplying users with crazy wiki-calendar URLs.

    OK,
Well I have demoted my ODR (diary.mydomain.com) to just being connected to an ODM.
Again, editing the user/groups records on the ODM doesn't give me any option to enable calendaring. However, I am able to enable calendaring for users and groups in the WGM if I connect to WGM as diary.mydomain.com. As my ical server is no longer a ODR, and only connected, is it safe to edit records on it and enable calendaring or I am still not getting this right?

  • Icloud with ical server

I have been able to successfully set up icloud syncing with my mac and iphone with the "work" and other home based calendars.  However, I run a business and I have ical server running with my business calendards.  How do I get the ical server calendars on the icloud?

It is impossible to sync your iCal Server contacts through iCloud.
However, you can add your iCal account directly to your iPhone. Just go to Settings -> Mail, Contact & others -> Add account -> Other -> Add CalDAV account, and fill out the form with your iCal server detail.
You need to be of course in the same LAN as your server to make the sync work, or make it "public" by forwarding CalDAV ports on your router/firewall. In the second case, make sure you connect only over SSL (port 443) and not the unsecured 80.
