Push service

  • Since trying to install the latest version of ITunes I have not been able to get it to launch at all! I get a message that says " C:Programme files\common files\Apple\Apple Push service.dll is either not designed to run on windows or contains an error. "

Please help! After I click ok on the error message above I get another message box that says "ITunes not installed Error 7 (Windows error 193)
I have uninstalled it and re-installed it, I have rsn the repair ITunes, I have re doqnloaded Quicktime- nothing will work
    Thanks

I also had this issue when one day itunes stopped working for me on windows 8...
the error message I received first was: C:Programme files\common files\Apple\Apple Push service.dll is either not designed to run on windows or contains an error.
followed by: ITunes not installed Error 7 (Windows error 193)
Your response addressed how to fix this issue with earlier windows operating systems, but not for windows 8, so what ended up working for me was your advice applied a little differently. For anyone running windows 8 needing to know how to resolve this issue by repairing the Apple Application Support program, try following these simple steps - what a relief it was to have itunes working again after applying b noir's answer to the windows 8 operating system!
    1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Control Panel.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, click Settings, and then click Control Panel.)
    2. Click the Programs and Features icon.
    3. In the list of programs and features, find the Apple Application Support feature and click to select it.
    4.  In the gray title bar above it, click Repair.
    5. Approve the window prompts that follow until the repair has been completed.
    6. Relaunch iTunes.
Hope this helps & good luck!

  • Where is the "Push" service documentation.

Does anyone know where to find documentation about the Apple "fix" to the background application restriction with a push service, mention here:
    http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/06/09/appletackles_iphone_background_app_limits_with_pushservice.html
    Thanks in advance.

    Ouch this hurts !
So at this point there is no way to create an application that changes the icon (a la default Calendar application) based on information retrieved from the network every so often right?
No background services allowed, and no push notification service.
    Is this correct?
Any one know what "in the future" means?

  • Permanent SSL connection in background (own poll/push service)

    Hello
I’m new here and I will first say hello! I'm 46 years old and I am from Germany. I work as an software developer since 1993 and I know, my English isn't the best ;-)!
    Now to my questions:
I have written a client Server application which is a secure and real time (< 5 sec) alert system. At the moment the clients can be a PC (Windows, Linux or Mac) or an Android Smartphone.
The App’s have all a permanent SSL connection to the server.
So, if  one  client send an alert, the server can send this alert to all specified clients which are online.
Also the server can send alerts to specified client, if the count of online clients is under a specified number.
So my customers have a very high security, that in case of a fault, very fast enough employers received the alert!
Now it is on me, to create an I-Phone APP witch work as a client on this system.
I read now many documents, how can I set up a permanent SSL connection in the I-Phone APP as a background task and if I understand it right, than this is not possible.
For that functionality the Apple push service is normally used, but in case of my application there is a problem, because an Apple push notification has no guaranty about the running time.
As far as I read multitasking background function are not for network activity’s (without the APS)
Have someone an idea how can I solve my problem?
    Thanks Aki

    Hi etresoft,
thanks again, I'm happy that I found here so fast help.
Have you any link to a dokument, how does IOS support keep alive in a multitasking background task, I didn't find anything (maybe I searche with the wrong words)?
The main reason, why I can't use the Apple push notification service is, that then my server dosen't know, who is online and receiveable!
The second is, that I can't start die APP direct, when the IPhone is in look modus (in Android the APP has is own look screen and speak the mesage after the alert sound!).
And the third, that I dosen't know (have a garrenty), how long the message need to be displayed on the phone.
That this application drain battery is clear! On Android it is tolerable (round about 10% more or instead of 30h, 27h battery live time on my device).
For my customer 20h battery livetime, will be enought, because the divices are recharged every night.
    Regards Aki

  • Email Push Service for Germany again - time schedule?

It there any infomration at whcih time Apple will support German iOS unsers by email push service again?

This is an interesting question... it's a sad story... push email for iCloud used to work only for about 6 months and now has remained offline for what is soon 1.5 years... unfortunately, Apple thinks the best course of action is to cut the service... this is easy (costs nothing), no need to apologize to users, no need to keep users in the loop etc.

  • Ios Push Service data consumption

why does iOS Push Service and process use as much as if not more data than iCloud when downloading apps from cloud or purchases from app store? I thought push notifications were 256byte max? During download or app sync on a device the process consumes a heap of data- almost as much as the cloud itself. It appears as though it's doubling my 3G data consumption as a result...   Discovered using data man app iOS after querying excess data usage. iPhone 4s64 black 5.1.1 non jb... Does anyone have any accurate and informed information regarding this process, and how or why it consumes data when iCloud and App Store consume almost identical amounts of data.
Carbon copy the above question for Store Service Process..

I'm not sure whether this is in the right section.....
There seems to be a very, very big difference between the amount of data that we are using according to our account on BT.com and the amount of data shown as being received/transmitted on our Home Hub 5.
Has anyone else experienced this sort of problem? If so, how was it resolved?
Is it possible to obtain records from BT of actual consumption over time? (Say showing data up/down per hour, or something like that)
    1. You can obtain from BT your up/down data usage per day  for each day for the last 31 days on a rolling basis.
    2. The HH5 A resets the data down value to 0 when it reaches 4.3GB.
    3.  The HH5 A resets the data up value to 0 when it reaches 4.3GB.
    4. 2. and 3. are done independant of each other.
    5. If the Hub reconnects the values are both reset to zero.
    6. Correcting for the above should mean that the total Hub values should always be greater than or equal to the total values registered by the online monitor.  This is because the Hub registers data that you are not charged for.
    7.  It is advisable if you want to check the online monitor that you record the Hub statistics on at least a daily basis.

  • Torch 9800 Push Service

    Hi,
I recently bought a Torch 9800., but my provider is not supporting e-mail push service.
Currently I am downloading my emails with another device manually. Is that also possible with BB? Do I need additional Software?
At present I am not able to set up an e-mail account. My provider told me that this is not possible (no push support) and in a forum I read that this is related to some settings on my SIM.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
BBs do not have a full on-device email client. Rather, they depend on the BIS infrastructure, which is hosted at the carriers and BB. What it sounds like is that you had BIS with your prior carrier, but do not yet have it with the new one. If the new one is capable of delivering BIS service to you, you must first get the old carrier to shut it off...one BB can have only one BIS account anywhere in the world. Until your former carrier releases your BB PIN from their BIS, your new carrier will not be able to deliver BIS to you (assuming they even have it...based on your discussions, it may well be that they don't).
    Good luck!

  • Push service provided by handphone manufacture+telco?

I know MIDP2.0 included PushRegistry. But i am wondering how the push work in server side.
    1) Push service is provided by handphone manufacture+telco(like iphone, blackberry)? We can not build it right?
    2) Let say i am using nokia/sony ericson hp. Can i have such push(wake up) feature?

So just to follow up on this.  I called to cancel today.  The CSR wanted me to talk to tech support about my problems and talk me out of cancelling so I said fine.  Summary of conversation:
    1)  Immediate acknowledgment that the two minute timeout of idle connections is by design, and no dispute that it breaks push email.
    2)  Disagreement with the claim that a second person logging on kicks off the first, even though I offered proof.  Dismissed my point that other people have seen the same exact thing, saying that if you look up problems other people are having on the Internet, people say anything and everything.
Anyway, I continued with the cancellation; to their credit, they waived the activation fee and credited me for "time served", so I won't owe anything.  I did appreciate that.

  • ITunes shows up as installed but won't open showing message Apple Push Service.dll not found

iTunes shows "installed" yet will not open up when I click on icon, showing message Apple Push Service.dll not found

If you definitely have a working QuickTime but iTunes thinks that you7 do not, then this points to a particular type of error.
Do you have a computer that has been set up for a work network? You may find that iTunes works OK when the computer is connected to the network but doesn't at home when not connected.
There are other possibilities, but this is a common one.
If I have guessed right, the problem lies in the %path% environment variable. In order to look at its contents, could you do the following:
    Type:
    cmd
into your search box and click cmd under Programs.
The black cmd window will open.
Next copy&paste the following into the cmd window and press return:
    echo %path% >documents\path.txt
This will place the contents of the %path% variable in a text file called Path in (My) Documents.
Could you copy&paste this text file into your next post so I can look at it.
(Use ctrl V to paste into the editor, right click doesn't work.)

  • Is there any way to find out what caused Push Services to generate 22 MEGAbytes of data traffic in less than 20 minutes?

Fortunately I was on Wifi when that happened, but my 500 MB data could run out quickly that way. According to Dataman it happened only once and I used only one other application at that time. Testing the same app with comparable usage didn't yield the same excessive data traffic. Normally Push Services comes to about 4MB per day (which in my opinion is already a lot). Though I use Wifi whereever I can, I am now really reluctant to have cellular data enabled and that's completely NOT the point of having a smartphone, or is it?
I hope someone can shed some light on this.

Sorry no, there isn't a way to turn off those reminders.
You can send Apple a feedback here  http://www.apple.com/feedback/

  • Missing "Object Push" Service for Bluetooth/Blackberry on OS X

Hello. I had several issues that caused me to do a "wipe data" on my Curve. After I set everything back up, my Bluetooth is not working properly. I have my Curve paired to my my desktop and my laptop.
I am able to successfully send photos from my Curve to my laptop.
When I try to send something from my Curve to my desktop, it "failed because it cannot find service." This worked fine before the wipe data.
When I check the "device properties" in the "paired devices" menu, the desktop computer device is missing a "service" called "object push." Verizon and RIM have not been much help.
    Any suggestions?

Found the problem. (I feel like a dope.) I needed to turn on Bluetooth Sharing in the "Sharing" prefs pane. That made the "Object Push" service available to the device.

We are testing an app at work and Push notifications are not getting delivered to certain devices (iphone 4S/ios7.0.4 and ios7.0.3 - Push never worked for these two devices for this app). Received OK responses from Apple PUSH services, but notifications not delivered to these tow devices.

Sounds like you have a battry issue but don't want to believe it.
If a car was running fine on one tank of gas, then you filled it up with another tank of gas and it began to run funny, one might suspect that tank of gas. But let's just say coincidence blew a valve-- would you think the new tank of gas was the culprit?
BUT WAIT!! It just might have been! The gas could have been of higher octane and put more more strain on the valves; you know, like going from 87 octane (OS6) to 93 octane (OS7) and showing you the engine was on the edge of compromise.
Sometimes you have to go with common sense. If everything else is ruled out, it must be the battery. And if it runs fine one moment in OS6 but immediately ***** in OS7, I'd believe my battery was suspect-- though comfy-- in OS6 but the OS7 showed its true power.
Moreover, if you had the answer-- or didn't want to believe someone's more competent advice-- why did you even call?  You've already shown that you don't know much when you asked if you could go backwards after setting up the new OS as a new phone.
Additonally, if you're such the know-it-all, but yourself the $29 battery and put it in yourself. It's a piece of cake.
