Pushing CS6 applications to existing CS6 suite users

If an Adobe CS6 Production Premium user requests Adobe InDesign CS6 or Adobe Acrobat Pro X (neither of which are included in the Adobe CS6 Production Premium suite), the license file used by the suite would be overwritten by the license file used by the individually licensed application.
What is Adobe's best practice for handling these kinds of requests so we don't break CS6 suites when deploying individual CS6 applications? Especially as the individually licensed application is not part of the suite the user currently has installed.
Thanks,
Don

Hi Rahul,
Thanks for the response, the method in which Adobe store license keys has always been a but fuzzy.
We can package these with AAMEE:
Adobe CS6 Design Standard
Adobe CS6 Design & Web Premium
Adobe CS6 Production Premium
Adobe Premiere Pro CS6
Adobe Photoshop CS6
Can InCopy CS6 be packaged with AAMEE?
We know how to package Acrobat Pro X.

  • CS6 applications only work in admin accounts

    iMacs, OS X 10.6.8, 4gb of ram:
Our district has a volume license of CS 6 Master collection. I recently started upgrading the iMacs in our computer labs to CS6, but the applications only work on the admin account. When I try to run the applications from a managed account, I get the user permission prompt stating that the user does not have permission to run the application.
If I select always allow, the application does not open.
If I click allow once, the application opens, but more permissions prompts come up for the applications specific components that have to run.
For Photoshop, for example, the user does not have permission for adobe_licutil, for AE, the mercury render engine, etc.
The application opens, but freezes (see error code below).
    What I've done so far:
Ensured that the applications are checked off in the preferences so that the account has permission to run them, however, it appears that the user does not have permission for additional components which are not listed in system preferences and therefore cannot be checked off in system preferences. This did not work. The account has permission to run the apps but the same problems (1 & 2 above) persist.
Selected all of the application folders and changed the permissions in the terminal (chmod -rf 777 on all folders). The account has permission for all files/components.This did not work.
Changed the managed account to an admin account (allow user to adminster computer in system preferences) and all problems are fixed. All applications then open/run.
Solves the problem and all CS 6 apps run, however, we cannot have students use an account with admin privileges.
Changed the account back to a managed one, selected all CS 6 applications and utilities in the user account preferences, but the problems returned.
Any ideas on how this can be fixed?
All CS 6 applications result in the following error (the errors are essential identical, only the name of the application and reference to application specific components are different, not the entire log):

"If you checked  "allow users to manage this computer" in system preferences it is not a managed account. Trying to set this up locally does not work."
Not true.  OD or AD accounts are Managed, but may also be admins. But this is not the case in my Mac labs. I am doing this via the local machine.
"So (and I'm doing some educated guessing here), you might remove the settings in Workgroup Manager for that user or group, and then logon and execute the apps.  Then restore the settings."
Just set the radio button (in Workgroup Manager, Applications) to "Never," save, and then start over using my method.
"I will have to confess that in this context, I don't know what whitelist means.  But if it means that everyone has access to these folders, then it defeats the purpose that I am using it for. I did get Workgroup Manager to work, but unlike PC which allows you to OK a child app, WGM requires you to find the child app that fails and add it to the allowed application list."
You people are making things hard on yourselves here.
It is all very simple. One more time, just allow following:
    /Library/
    /Applications/
Then just disallow any applications that you want.
The problem described here is that non-admin users cannot run Adobe Creative Suite 6, correct? So, if the users are not admins, then they cannot copy anything to those folders. Hence, there is no issue. They cannot run applications from any other folder, either. Test it.
    Clear as mud?

  • Can't open the application "Adobe Illustrator CS6.app" because it is not supported...

UPDATE - Ahhh haaaa!  If I log in with the guest account Illustrator works fine! WTF!? Oh well, at least I have a direction to be working towards, thanks for all the suggestions and assistance Adobe Community!
That was sarcasm by the way...
UPDATE - Just installed the latest Illustrator update from Adobe - still not loading. Tried reseting the iMac's PRAM, no luck.
UPDATE - I've just reinstalled the whole CS6 Suite, and the only things that have changed are that I now have a little white no entry sign over Illustrator (it still won't load) and I also have 1.5GB of application updates to do
I don't have any direct evidence but I'm guessing this is a Mavericks incompatibility judging by the other issues people are having with Illustrator. Any suggestions are welcome!
I've been using CS6 on my iMac for the past year (3.2GHz Intel Core i5, 32GB ram).  Everything running fine, no problems.
Then I get the popup from Apple saying to upgrade to Mavericks, so I did. After updating my Java version, for the next two weeks everything carried on running fine. Until just now.
    I finished working on an Illustrator file, saved it and then exited, only to remember I needed to make one more small change. So I clicked on the AI icon and got this error message;
'You can’t open the application “Adobe Illustrator CS6.app” because it is not supported on this type of Mac.' Eh???
I tried doing a reboot thinking that maybe something had just gone wonkey and needed resetting. Still no luck. So I reinstalled Java again. Nope. Then I tried every other CS6 app and they all ran fine.
Does anyone know what could cause Illustrator CS6 to be working fine for weeks and then suddenly become an unsupported app? These things always happen with you're right up against a deadline! I NEED ILLUSTRATOR WORKING NOW! HEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPP!
    James

I had the same issue and resolved it
I first remove the prefs folder and the plist files for illustrator in ~/Libary
    next I logged off,
then I uninstalled illustrator using the adobe uninstaller(http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html)
    Next I reinstall illstrator
after that it worked for me.

    salflyfish,
Because Photoshop is an Adobe product you should be asking on an Adobe product forum or calling Adobe for assistance. Also your profile isn't complete but it does indicate you own a Mac Pro, this is an Intel based iMac forum. If you do have a Mac Pro please re-consider posting there. To complete your profile please click Profile Update, by doing so this helps the volunteers know basics about your system such as which version of OS X is installed, the exact model you own, the amount of installed RAM etc.... Without that information diagnosing an issue is much more difficult.

  • Uninstall Selected CS6 Applications

    CS6 Production Premium Suite
    Win7x64
I want to uninstall a few of the CS6 applications, but not all of them.
Does checked mean remove application or not remove application?
    Thanks in advance.

Items checked should indicate to uninstall them.

  • Purchased CS6 applications showing up as "trial version"

Since a few days all applications of my purchased Creative Suite 6 Master Collection show up as "trial version" (29 days left).  Any clues?

Thanks for this suggestion – highly appreciated!
Unfortunately, the solution provided on http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/trial--1-launch.html does not work in my case. This is because the deactivation option under Help > Deactivate is greyed out. Any attempt to (re-)license the product using my CS6 serial number results in the notification that this serial number is 'invalid' (for which there is no reason).
I am running CS6 under Windows 8 and the problem seems to coincide with the latest update of the Creative Cloud panel that controls the updates tot the CS6 applications.
Please react, not only if you have other suggestions, but also if you are experiencing the same problem.

  • Is Photoshop CC able to work with Bridge CS6 or other CS6 applications ?

Is Photoshop CC or any other CC application able to work with CS6 applications such as Bridge CS6?

Asking in the specific forums will give you answers from users of those programs
Not that Mylenium doesn't know, but this forum is not about using specific programs

  • All CS6 applications ask for a new serial (after 13months)

    Hi there,
All of a sudden all CS6 applications (web and design) I open ask me to enter a serial number. When I then fill in my serial it does tell me that it is invalid. The suite now activated a trial version, that will end in 30 days.
I bought and installed this suite in December 2012 via the university I work and checked the license that came with this suite. This license tells me that I obtained a lifelong license. The serial number is also still on 'my adobe' account registered as one of my products.
(At least it does not tell me that the serial number is no longer valid, however, I'm not  sure if one can see on 'my adobe' if a license is no longer valid).
Maybe something trivial to add: when that 'account password hack thing' happened I changed my password the same day I received the mail from Adobe.
Therefore I don't have any clue why my license should no longer be valid.
Does anybody know how this can happen and how I can solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance!!

You need to reinitialize the activation and delete the old keys in the SKStore and PCD folders.

  • CS6 Applications holding on to files

I need to know if there is something built into the Applications (Acrobat, InDesign, and Illustrator) that holds onto the files after they have been modified and closed. If so then I need to know if that can be disabled.
    More info:
We have three Macs (OSX 10.9) running CS6 (Design & Web Premium) and connecting to a Windows share via cifs. An ongoing issue that we have been running into is that Acrobat, InDesign, or Illustrator will keep files open even when they have closed out of the files. This has happened frequently (about once per day) where someone wont be able to delete or make changes to a file. For example, today one of the users was unable to rename a .pdf file (gave an error code saying that he didn't have permission) so I had to login to the server manager and see who had the file open. Turns out that another user "had it open" but in reality she closed out of the .pdf a few hours ago. To cover all bases I had her close out of InDesign and Acrobat (what they use to modify the .pdfs) and then he was able to rename it.
We used to connect through smb but that was really slow to do a search so we switched back to cifs. Even on smb it was still having this issue. We have had this issue on CS4, CS5, CS5.5, and CS6 as well as OSX 10.6-10.9. I have the OS updated to 10.9.5 as well as constantly updating the CS6 applications in case there is a fix that comes out.

Currently using the latest CS6 AE v11.0.2.12 on a Win7 Professional service pk.1 64 bit. My system has 2 processors: intel xeon cpu E5-2609 0 @2.4GHz with 64 GB RAM  500GB SSD as local disk and 2TB hard drive.
The footage in the comps I am trying to open are .r3d files that have RedGiant effects applied (primatte key used mostly).. the error I am seeing in AE when it crashes on opening the comp is error:error4 in Edge Blur(25::241)
These comps opened fine when I was working on them last year, but now when I open a fresh AE and load any one of my saved files AE crashes and will not display the footage. I can open AE and start a new comp, but it is only when I open one of my saved files where it crashes.
    Thanks for the help.

  • CS6 Applications closing directly after start

I'm using Adobe Creative Suite CS6 Standard since a couple of months.
At this weekend I get a CC Testversion from a College and installed it. Since this time every CS6 Application is closing directly after starting.
I guess smth. is wrong with the CC Version, this one works fine in my PC.
Also after reinstallation of CS6 the problem couldn't be fixed.

  • Postcript fonts not showing in any of the CS6 applications

I cannot get any of the postscript fonts to appear in the CS6 apps. I am using FontAgent Pro 4.1 to manually activate fonts with CS6 applications (auto-activiation works fine in pre CS6 programs - I do realize that InsiderSoftware has not released updated plugins for CS6 for windows yet). When I activate an opentype or truetype font they appear within a few seconds in the CS6 apps, but none of the postscript/type 1 fonts show. They do show in all other programs, including earlier versions of the Adobe programs. I have delete all adobefnt*.lst files, rebooted and still no progress.

Updated info - it appears that the folder \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts along with a shortcut pointing to the folder where FAP adds shortcuts (FAP_APS) for the type 1 fonts that are activated. This was present in the \Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts and all fonts except type 1 would appear in the CS6 apps when activated. I added the shortcut as shown in the link (http://knowledgebase.insidersoftware.com/entry/25/) and so far, type 1 fonts, once activated, are now showing in CS6. I wonder is this has anything to do with installing the 64 bit versions of Illustrator and Photoshop?

  • ID Install -  Can't open the application Adobe InDesign CS6 because it may be damaged or incomplete.

Trying to install inDesign CS6 on my imac. But everytime I try at end of install I either get a problem with install error, or if it does show up in my applications folder, it has a "no" sign and when clicked I get:
"You can't open the application Adobe InDesign CS6 because it may be damaged or incomplete."
Need help, Im a freelance desktop publisher and need this to work!

After I deleted Adobe File Manager because it was always popping up annoyingly, I got a similar "damaged application - reinstall" message. However, InDesign didn't seem to be affected. Nevertheless, I reinstalled AFM, and fixed the problem, except for the annoying appearances of AFM.
If it's not present on your system, you can search Google for "download adobe application manager mac" without quotes, to download and install it.

  • Creative Cloud desktop app won't sync with CS6 applications

I am running a Windows 7 64bit machine. I had been running CS6 and CC, but had developed a wide range of problems. With the assistance of Adobe technical support I removed all Adobe software from my pc.
My plan was to do a clean install of CS6, apply all of the updates, and then decide if I wanted to continue with the full CC subscription before installing any CC software. The initial install went fine, as did a whole bunch of upgrades. Along the way Adobe upgraded the Adobe Application Manager to the desktop Creative Cloud app.
Within Creative Cloud it showed an update to Photoshop CS6 (something to do with a Creative Cloud version 13.1.2). So I clicked on update and got an error message and the advice to uninstall and reinstall Photoshop CS6. I followed the advice. I then started Photoshop CS6 and selected the Help -> Updates option. It launched the Adobe Application Manager and I was able to install the update. So now I think everything is good with CS6 installed and up to date, and no CC software has been installed aside from the desktop app.
BUT when I run the Creative Cloud desktop app it still show that there is an update for Photoshop CS6! Clicking on the update button generates a message that the update failed due to a download error.
So my problem is how do I get the CC app in sync with my actual CS6 applications?
My second question is do I need to uninstall AAM to preclude this happening in the future (and if so, how)?

Then it would appear the updates have been applied successfully.  You may want to try implementing solution 2 of CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/aam-lists-removed-apps-date.html.
