Pushing emails to iPhone 5

Hi I would really appreciate some help here.
I have setup via my domain at GoDaddy an email address and set it up on my iphone 5.
I can send and receive OK but when I receive emails I don't get alerts, I actually have to go into my mail inbox to check my emails, which is not particularly helpful!
I have checked in Notification Centre that alerts are set to ON etc
Any advice please?
Thanks in advance!

Get an account that pushes email.   i.e. Outlook.com or yahoo
Ask your provider why they don't push.   And no, it's not useless if it doesn't push.   It saves your battery considerably from not forcing it to constantly communicate to the servers for updates.

  • How to set up push email to iphone

Can anyone tell me how to set up my snow leopard server and my iphone so that I get push email, calendar and addressbook? I can't find this anywhere in the manuals.
    Thanks,

Mac OS X Server 10.6 Snow Leopard Server does not support push notifications to iOS devices.
See Supported push mail accounts on iPhone and iPod touch (HT2625) and Mac OS X Server v10.6: Push Notification Server and supported applications (HT3947) for the official details.
From the second article, Currently, iOS Mail and Calendar apps do not support Push Notifications from Mac OS X Server v10.6.

  • Push email on iphone 4

I registered my school email on my iphone 4 and chose the push email setting yet it seems like its not working. Anybody have any advice on how to fix this?

There are a few things that you need to find out.
1.) Is your school running and Exchange Server? If they're not, then you can't set the account up to push email, you can only fetch.
2.) If they are running an Exchange Server, did you set up the email account on your iPhone as an Exchange account, Or did you set it up as an email account under the "other" category? If it's not set up as an Exchange account then your mail will not push.
Both Push and fetch are enabled by default on the iPhone, but push will only work for email accounts that support the push capability. The only two account types that support push on the iPhone are Exchange or Mobileme. Otherwise the mail account will automatically default to fetch.
To me it sounds like the account that you have set up is not set up as an account that supports push.
I know it's confusing because in the "mail, contacts, calendar" section of the settings section, under "Fetch New Data," it says "Push," so you may think that your mail is supposed to push.
Please let me know what you find out.

  • How to Disable Push Email on iPhone?

How do I turn off push email for the iPhone? The phone is constantly buzzing because I receive a steady stream of spam. Please, please, please, how do I return to the older way of getting mail when I want to? Thanks.

  • BT Mail and push email on iPhone

I have just been migrated to BT Mail from BT Yahoo. On both my iPhone 4s, running iOS7, and my iPad, the BT Mail does not give the option for push email, just fetch. Does BT Mail not support push email? I need my push email back - fetch, even every 15 mintes is not sufficient for my needs, and it a backward step. I want email pushed to my devices as soon as it hits the server. Can this be fixed? Also I have a problem with the BT website, when I log in with my email address and password it takes me from the BT.com website to BT Yahoo, which no longer contains my emails. Why is this?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The new BTMail does not support push email.
If you have been migrated your emails are no longer on Yahoo's servers so they won't be there. You need to set up your BTID
Try using this link to log into your emails. If you have just been migrated it should take you through the migration process.

  • Push email on iPhone 4S

Back to iPhone after using another brand, all is good but push email is lacking, maybe there is something obvious I'm missing. Have setup iCloud and is working fine, setup my gmail account and is fine, but my 4 other IMAP email accounts are not being pushed, which happens to be the work emails, no push, what gives? Worked fine on the 3GS and Iphone 4 I had before. I have to open email app or refresh it to get emails, or wait 15 minutes or 30 or wahtever is set to. Am I missing something, worked wonders on my other phone. Not so much of a business phone without push on IMAP.
Help appreciated, want ot stay with my new 4S, but if IMAP push is not supported, would have to go back .

Thanks guys for your posts, but I missed something trivial, on my FatCow account the email boxes were set to IMAP when I switch to the iPhone, not sure why, but I did called them and all is back to exchange accounts, happy man again.
    Thank you all .

  • IPhone 4 vs Blackberry push email--i.e. is the iPhone TRUE Push Email?

considering hopping on the iphone train, however need to know something about push email that NOONE can answer (not even apple consultants at the store)!
issue: have blackberry now due to need to get emails and messaging immediately as it arrives in gmail and yahoo account, regardless of whether phone is asleep or not. can the iphone do this?
i keep getting the answer of you can go into account settings, select push, but then everyone is thrown for a loop when it comes to the push/fetch settings, i.e. 15 min, 30 min, hourly, manually, etc. e.g. no one can answer whether after the email is "pushed" to the iphone at minute 15 (if that is my setting), and i then get an email in my gmail or yahoo account at minute 16, if that email is immediately pushed to the iphone or i have to wait 'til the next 15 minute interval (or fetch it manually).
also, will the iphone wake from sleep to alert me to an incoming email as long as push is selected--regardless of other settings?
please help!!! and thanks in advance!!!

Apart from the "true push" aspect of email, one feature that is sorely lacking on the iPhone, one that for me is quite literally going to be the deciding factor to return to the blackberry, is the notification feature of true push email provided on the Blackberry.
I'm an on the go business professional. I manage several businesses along side my "day job." While my day job is the most critical, it has two facets and these have two different email addresses from different domains.
In short my device be it blackberry or iphone, has 11 domains address sending "push" email in various forms, pop, imap, and exchange. Of these 11, between the hours of 9-6pm 3 of these domains are absolutely critical that I respond within 15 minutes.
On the blackberry, I'm able to set sound profiles that will allow me to differentiate emails using sound by domain. So each of the 11 has a different sound tone as its alert. Without looking at the phone I can determine quickly if the message that was just "pushed" is of the 3 critical domains and take the appropriate action. Unfortunately, the iPhone doesn't have this feature, not natively, thus all mail gets the same tone.
I get about 30-40 messages an hour, it quickly becomes clear that I'm now tethered to the device just to weed out mail that is important, but not critical.
So factor that mail is not "true push" in all instances and that there isn't an ability to set unique alerts for the different addresses/domains, a great device is rendered inferior and an inferior device is heralded.
The apps that are available to address this, all require forwarding the mail message to a 3rd party. Not happening—Corporate would never allow or condone such.

  • Why can't I push emails to 2 different MobileMe accounts on the iPhone?

Makes no sense since I can set up a Yahoo! Mail account as push alongside a single MobileMe account with push mail as well.
Every time I set it up, the second account only gives me an option for Fetch or Manual.

I have the same problem. Here's my setup:
    1) I have my own MobileMe account that I use for Mail, Contacts and Calendar syncing on my iPhone and Mac
    2) My wife uses my MobileMe account for Contacts and Calendars so we use the same calendars and contacts. We just signed her up for her own MobileMe (trial) account to use just for her own PUSH email.
On her iPhone calendars and contacts sync perfectly via push. When I added her own MobileMe account to use for mail it only gives her the option for either FETCH or MANUAL! This makes no sense whatsoever. I figured it might have something to do with having my MobileMe account associated with her iPhone as well, so I deleted that association but still no options but FETCH or MANUAL for her mail. Prior to getting her own MobileMe account, I her her set up with YahooMail for push email and she was given the option for PUSH.
All of this makes no sense and is highly frustrating! I wonder if there is a reason and a fix? Anyone?

  • IPhone 3G and Push Email Notifications

    Hello everyone.
Before I got my iphone, I used to own a blackberry, and push email was my main form of communication on it. I cannot begin to describe how amazing push email was on the blackberry - the moment an email was sent to my address my blackberry picked it up right away, I'd say within 10 seconds. Now, I have an iPhone 3G OS 3.1 with mobileme email set up to use push email. I don't know if i'm the only person experiencing this...but push notification my foot... sometimes I don't even get notified of emails until I open the mail app myself and do a manual check. I have mobile me on my iPhone set to push, I have push in the settings menu set to on... I don't know what else to do.
I'd be happy to hear of other peoples experiences with MobileMe push mail on the iPhone. My account expires in two weeks...maybe I'd be better switching to push mail with gmail? I might give that a try this evening.
    Regards
    Seb

Just playing for more hours! Push works lightning fast if you enter anything onto MobileMe, it syncs to Iphone in less than 20 secs, Mail email, contacts and calendar.
The problem is I am using with Entourage 2008 that supposed to sync with Ical and Address Book, this is either not working or coming through ad hoc or taking hours to Iphone, this is not push email like above.
MobileMe is fine as a standalone push system back to Iphone, but what about me using Entourage to manage all my mailboxes and data to iphone.

  • Will the iPhone 3G and/or 2.0 software give push email for all email?

..instead of just MobileMe? I'd really like consistent push email for my gmail and yahoo! email accounts similar to the blackberry. Will I be getting this? I don't have a mobileme account nor desire to pay $90 for it.

Then if you don't want to pay for it, you are not going to get it.
Push requires the provider of the email service to give Push abilities. MobileMe allows you to tie it (which has Push) into your other accounts (that don't).
BTW, Yahoo does do push already (has since day 1 with 1st gen iPhones).
Google may one day knowing them.

  • Iphone randomly stops pushing email

My iphone 5s has recently decided to stop pushing email...sometimes.  Today for example all was good until about the afternoon when I didn't get any more email messages, or so I thought, when I checked my computer tonight I had 5 new email messages but my phone showed nothing, it always fixes itself when I open up mail on my phone it gets the new messages then starts to push messages again...until randomly a few days later it stops.
This happens both with the mail app and my gmail app.  I can't seem to figure out it's problem.  I sometimes turn my wifi off and on when I don't want it to connect at work, but other than that there seems to be no logical reason for this.
All apps and software are up to date.  This only seems to have started happening about a month or two ago.
Other things like imessage and texts messages push just fine.

    Rachel,
This reminds of me an issue we used to have with iPods -- often times it turns out to be a problem with one or more songs in your library. Were these all songs you purchased from the iTunes store, or did you get them elsewhere?
If elsewhere, you may need to try a rebuild of your iTunes library. Here's the easiest way to start (and to see if this is the problem). First of all, do not do anything without a backup of your music (you need a backup of your music anyway). If you don't already have one use DVD writable media and any backup software and make sure you've written all your songs out. This is particularly important on any songs you've purchased (if they came from CDs you own that can be considered your backup, although you will have to rip them again).
Now go to iTunes and in the library select all your songs (Ctrl-A) and press delete. Now -- be careful here, do not answer "Yes" when it asks you if you want to remove them from your hard drive. They will then disappear from iTunes but still be on your hard drive. Locate them on your hard drive (in Windows use Explorer). They will most likely be in your "My Music" folder but you can also search for them (if they came from outside the iTunes Music store they most likely have the extension MP3). Once you find them do not drag them all over into the library -- here's where we want to test something. Just drag over a few, not more than 10 or 20 (you can drag over a folder or two if each folder contains an album, which is normal).
Try syncing again and if that works then you know a couple of things. After that you can drag all your music back into your library and try a sync and if that doesn't work you know there is something wrong with one or more of your songs. But often this may clear up any problems.

  • Iphone mobileme push email

I have 2 Mobileme accounts. Both are setup on my Macbook Pro and my Iphone. However, in my Iphone only one of them allows for Push email. Both are paid for services and not trial accounts. Any workaround?
    -ajay

'Push-IMAP' isn't an Open Standard, so I'd avoid it. I'm not sure the iPhone supports Push-IMAP either (there where some rumours after the initial phone announcements that it would with Yahoo! mail).

  • IPhone 4 Google Sync Push Email not Working?

    Hi all,
I don't seem to be getting push e-mail on the iPhone. Overnight I sent a couple e-mails to my iPhone, but the phone did not pick up the messages until I manually launched the mail client.
Shouldn't the phone have received a e-mail notification regardless?
I'm using Google Sync with the Exchange Server settings.
I'm on WiFi at home - does Push require 3G to work correctly?
    Message was edited by: coolspot

I recently got an iPad and had the exact same problem! - except I'm using Gmail.
I take it you are attempting to set it up through hotmail as you cannot see the Exchange server settings then?
Well, seen as I couldn't get my gmail account to push emails, I set my gmail up with Exchange and have found that the option to enter the server is found later on, did you try entering the required fields in Exchange and proceeding to the next page of the setup?
Settings > Mail, contacts, calendars > Add account > Exchange > enter your email address, password, and description > Then when you press next the server option should pop up where you can enter col-m.homtail.com, leave the domain blank, and re-write your email address in the username.
I am using iPad 4 version 6.0.1 also and this worked for my Gmail.
    Hope you get it fixed!
