PUT command grayed out

Everything was fine yesterday when I updated files and put
them on the website but today the put and get commands are grayed
out. Any suggestions???

If you do not have any site definition backups, the only way
to get them
back would be to roll your system back to the most recent
restore point, or,
if you don't want to do that then you will have to do just
what you are
describing.

Why are commands "grayed out" (not available) on the edit tab on Elements 9?

It’s often awaiting a user action e.g. opening a photo in the main Editor space or making a selection or a new layer or flattening an image or changing bit depth etc.

IPhoto sharing command grayed out

I am running a brand new 20" Intel iMac with Leopard 10.5.1. I successfully initiated video chat with my brother's MacBook running Tiger. I successfully put up PDF's and JPG's on his screen by dragging them onto the video window or using the "Share a File With iChat Theater" command.
However, I couldn't access the "Share iPhoto With iChat Theater" command. It is permanently grayed out. My brother thought it was because he was not on Leopard, but this doesn't make sense to me. Even when I am not chatting with anyone, the "Share a File With iChat Theater" command is black but the "Share a File With iChat Theater" command is grayed out.
It seems like iChat doesn't recognize that I have iPhoto '08 installed. I did manually install iPhoto '08 off the Apple installation discs after doing an clean install of the whole system (Leopard was not pre-installed). iPhoto '08 has been working great on its own. But I can't access it from iChat.
Anyone else experiencing this problem?

More follow-up, since I have seen this discussed a lot in other threads... I just chatted with my parents, who don't have Leopard, and was able to share photos and movies via both menu commands and drag and drop. On their screen, the images filled the screen and the small window remained with their own video feedback. On my screen, their video filled the screen and the images I was presenting filled the small window. So, this tells me that without Leopard on both the sending and receiving sides, you don't get the side-by-side iChat Theater presentation.
I also went to the Apple Store at the mall and played with iChat Theater on two Leopard laptops. When I shared any image or video, the video feedback of myself disappeared and was replaced by the shared content on a large angled window. The incoming video from the other party went into the small angled window at the bottom left. However, the other party saw both me (in the small angled window) and the shared content (in the large angled window), just like in Steve Jobs' presentation. What's more, I was able to continue running special effects, including background effects, while sharing content. In other words, the other party could see the shared video in the large window and the special effect video of me in the small window, simultaneously. Powerful stuff.
When I was chatting with my parents, though, I was not able to run the background effects simultaneously while sharing content. The normal special effects (Twirl, etc) were available, but the other two pages of effects didn't even show up in the Effects window. Clearly, there is some dynamic throttling of capability going on in the app, just as others have suggested.
Finally, I would note that, at some point at the Apple Store, I could no longer get the shared content to go into the side-by-side Theater mode. I could still share content, either through menu commands or through drag and drop, but it would always fill the screen. I brought an employee over and he played around for a while looking for a toggle switch, but to no avail. I figured it was a memory problem and suggested restarting iChat. When we did that, it fixed the problem and the side-by-side Theater mode was restored for images, videos, Keynote presentations, etc.
I thought these were some very interesting experimental results that gave me better insight into the behaviors of iChat Theater. Hopefully someone else can benefit from this information.

Edit with command grayed out

Hi all,
One of my Flash designers is having an issue with his flash.
In the past, he was able to right click on a PSD and edit it via
photoshop, but now the command is grayed out.
The version of Flash is CS3 (we haven't moved to 4 yet) and
the Version of OS is 10.5.6 (latest with all updates of about a
week ago.
Any suggestions on how I would be able to get this
functionality back would be helpful.

Preview Commands Grayed Out

The commands in the daughter menus of the Tools > Mark Up and Tools > Annotate commands in Preview are always grayed out.
This does not change, regardless of tool selected or whether a portion of the image has been highlighted or not.
It does not matter whether a JPEG or a PNG image is the current file opened.
Similarly, the "Select" and "Annotate" buttons do not work. Clicking on the "Select" button has no effect, and the "Annotate" button is stuck on the elliptical shape and does not drop down, either.
This was precipitated I think by Mac OS X 10.5.6. It was an update on my MacBook, and it came pre-installed in my iMac. Both macs exhibit this problem since 10.5.6.

I just tried it on several pdf files.
On some, the text markup is not an option - presumably the "text" is not really text but a graphic. On those documents the markup options are grayed out as in yours.
On other pdf docs which clearly have text, if I select a line of text and then choose tools->Mark Up, the options are not grayed out.
I think it's a matter of whether the "text" to be marked up is actually text or a graphic image of text, which is not the same thing.

PS CS6 Edit commands grayed out to copy / cut objects and layers?

Why are my edit commands (copy and cut) grayed out / unavailable? When trying to copy a selected layer or object, all my editing commands are grayed out and unavailable. No idea why. Even if I convert something to a smart object, no joy. The only thing I seem to be able to select and copy/cut/paste is text in the text edit mode. makes no sense and is rendering PS unusable. How do I fix this?

Your seeing the transform handles with the move tool.
Try something like this:
Open an image
Click on the Rectangular Marquee Tool in the tool box
(just below or to the left of the move tool in the tool box)
(or press M on the keyboard)
Draw a selection (marching ants)
Edit>Copy
Edit>Paste
You should end up with a new layer with the copied contents from within the selection

Place command grayed-out

Updated ID, AI, PS CC 2014. Uninstalled ID, AI, PS CC. Updated Bridge CC. Version 6.1.0.116 x64, Win 7. "Place" command is grayed-out. Rebuilt prefs using Ctrl key on Bridge startup. Still grayed-out. Any ideas?

I knew I should have waited before I installed CC(2014)... I had down time so I uninstalled all my CC's that were to be replaced by CC(2014),but Bridge did not have a new CC(2014) so I never uninstalled, because I figured it would be updated to allow SENT TO, and PLACE function; WAS I WRONG!
Now I have to completely UNINSTALL Everything and then wipe Adobe CC with a cleaning tool? If our developers missed a large feature like this, we would be out of business. This happens more often then not with you Adobe, straighten this up so others do not have to UNINSTALL every program and wipe it clean then re-install, some people cannot do this due to data caps and time restrictions. You're wasting time and in the States time is everything. Wake up!
Not to mention my Bridge randomly crashes when I choose to open a PSD file in Photoshop which I had to tell it to start using the new CC(2014), I resolved the issue only to find this.

About a year ago my get and put commands greyed out and stopped working. I called my webhost and they were no help, they did say that they moved my site to a new (linux) server about the same time. I have applied all the correct settings on my configure server window and when I hit test it connects successfully.
I have been posting over the last year using Firefox FTP but am making quite a few changes and it's making me crazy going back and forth. Anyone have any ideas?

Closing this question out, the MacBook reverted to normal behavior sometime since I posted the problem and this post. No clue why.

I am using iPhoto 11 mail and cannot add more than one recipient in the 'to' line. When I put a comma in, the recipient's address is deleted. If I use ' ' with more than one recipient the save grays out. Any thoughts?

I figured it out. I needed to fix some errors in my account information. It works fine now.

Ftp get and put grayed out

If I want to use the FTP client JUST to get and put files in Dreamweaver without actually setting up a site how do I do that? The put and get options are all grayed out and the client is missing the green and blue icons completely - it;s just like an ftp client that just allows you to view and do nothing else. I am running it on Windows Server 2008 R2. Please help!

I just got a new Macbook and I put all music on a flash drive from my PC to mac. Some music (seems to be the newer purchases) are grayed out and will not play??

I have a mid 2012 MacBook Pro. All of my music was on a PC computer. I don't really know how to work with PCs but I am more than familiar with Macs. I have an iPhone with all of the grayed out music on it and they play fine. They play on the PC too. But when I transferred them over, they just won't play. There is also a little cloud with an arrow pointing downward which I thought meant download.
So I read another thread that said to log out of itunes and this would be fixed. I logged out and back in again and now the grayed out music is GONE. Just gone. I have everything on a flash drive still, so no big deal but is there a way I can get all of the music to download? And not be grayed out this time?

Reflections option grayed out

No matter what kind of object or image I put in a blank canvas the Reflections option is grayed out.

As the app is not AppleScriptable, I must use GUIscripting and so it may appears as an annoying feature when we are not working with Numbers (brings it at front, and rings if there is no open Numbers document.)
I know people keep asking for autosave for Pages, so I imagine there is a similar interest for Numbers. I would guess that even GUIScripting would be ok for many users. However, I am an uncontrollable command-s-freak myself, so I will pass for the time being.

Application not working..grays out;finder wont launch 1712 error;

I was trying to transfer photos from my dell to my mac. i successfully transferred one file. when I copied another photo file into the same cruzer..the mac did not "see" that file (although it showed up on the dell). when i removed the cruzer from the mac..the application logo at bottom was grayed out and would not respond. Then the finder says..will not launch ..error 1712 ..THen the macbook will not shut down..only if if remove the battery. When i reinstall the battery..the startup desktop is grayed out and then looks like it is installing something at the bottom...screen is bright again, but same problem.
how do I fix this??

i have not received a reply to this question. However , I went to the Genius bar today and this is how everything was fixed:
Go to "spotlight" and type in the word activity.
A list will show up and click on each to quit each one.
After this was done..all worked just fine.
Also...rather than removing the battery if the mac will not shut down..just hold down the power on button and it should power off . When the battery is removed that computer thinks it hads "died" and it will put the computer into a gray save type mode. So avoid this by holding the power button down,

When I have a software update notification and I go to the 'Updates" tab of the App Store and click 'update', the flash screen 'Sign in to download from the App Store comes up the the Apple ID is wrong and grayed out so I can't change it. Where is the bogus Apple ID stored? How can I 'ungray' it to make it editable?
I'm running Mavericks 10.9.4 on an IMAC 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5.

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, the App Store may prompt you to update "Angry Birds" or "Twitter," but the hacked app may be something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you must carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.
1. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
2. In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
          File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
          Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu of search criteria, initially showing Kind. From that menu, select
          Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select
          Raw Query
as the criterion, then click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
4. The search window will now show all the App Store products that are installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.
If you find these instructions confusing, ask for an alternative method.
