Hi,
How I can put control to be in front of all other controls? I want to put label to be in front of some panel.

You do not understand me. Lets say that I have 5 panels. One is 'main' and on tha main panel there is 4. I want to put label only on main panel, but if I set (x , y) over some of other 4 panels, then I want to see label in front of each panel.

Video window in front of all others

Whenever I play a video of any kind on iTunes in a new window, that window always stays on top of all other windows. This can be inconvenient if, say, I'm watching The Office and I receive an email. I can't see Mail, even if I pause the show. My only option is to pause and minimize The Office, check email, and then go back to iTunes. Does anyone know how to change this?

I completely hate this new behavior! I think it's new to iTunes 7.3.
When I'm watching tech video podcasts (like Diggnation), I used to sometimes switch to safari to check what they are talking about while leaving the video go on.
Now, it has become a total inconvenience to do that because the video window stays on top!
We should have an option that let use select this.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Can an AIR application pop in front of all other application ?

There is a lot of method to bring an AIR window ahead of the other AIR windows but what about bringing an AIR window in front of the desktop ?
My application need a fast response from the user when it received some network events.
The users do not find that a simple blinking on the taskbar is enough to warn them.
I did not find any documentation about bringing an AIR app to the front of the desktop ... I begin to think it's impossible.
Can some one help me to find a way to do so or even just a work around ?

Exept that I was waiting for a new frame to be drawn in order to set alwaysInFront back to false.
This is even simplier.
The only thing I regret is that the native window poped up has not the focus, but I am not sure it is a bad thing, it prevents the user to interact with it by mistake.

With the latest Firefox update, the Firefox window stays in front of all other software windows until I directly minimize the Firefox window. Is this a bug?

I can minimize the Firefox window, but *unless* I minimize it, I can't access other programs-- even if I click on a window behind the Firefox window or try clicking on the appropriate icon from the Windows taskbar. The Firefox window stays in front.
I'm using Firefox 18.0; I am on the update release channel.

There is a bug in Adblock. If you disable, thing return to normal. In my experience, this only occurs after an ad is blocked.

POP NEW MESSAGE TO THE FRONT OF ALL WINDOWS: HOW?

How do I set up iChat to bring a new message, current message, or any other message to the front of all other windows when received??
The present options limit the actions to making a noise, bouncing the dock icon, and nothing else.
I would like iChat to bring forward ALL messages received to the front of all other windows upon receipt, and put the focus on that newly received message.
Is this possible? I have searched the interwebacles via the googlenator and have found nothing solving this issue. Be as technical as you like, I will understand any level of instructions.

Try Chax It is an Add-on that adds the feature you request - or rather a chat window can be set to always be in front.
This means new chats from the same Buddy tend to do the same.
I have not tried it with chats from different Buddies.

Itunes 11.1.3.8 shows a speaker icon in front of the seclection but it is not playing. the progress bar does not move. there are speakers attached to the system and all other programs do profuce an audio output.

Go to the Edit -> Preferences-> Playback
In The bottom section of the page click the drop down menu by Play Audio Using and select Windows Audio Session or something other than "Direct sound" or whatever it displays. Click Okay. This worked for me! I hope it works for you too!

Did you activate home sharing in both your iTunes and ATV?
Also try signing out of the ATV (Apple ID) and signing back in again.

How to put a JFrame on the top of all other applications

when some message is received, I want to put an existing JFrame on the top of all other applications. So that the user knows that some message has arrived.
I tried toFront(), but it blinks the JFrame on the taskbar never comes on the top of other application.
Any ideas.

On Windows 98 the toFront() method works, but maybe not exactly how you expected.
There seems to be a delay of about 20 seconds.
If your frame has not been active within the last twenty seconds then the frame is displayed when the toFront() is used.
If the frame has been active within the last 20 seconds then the icon will flash.
I believe this behaviour is to prevent frames from poping up all the time. Here is a simple program that shows this behaviour:

Has anyone successfully put varnish in front of web service?

I've got server app 3.2.1 on a mac mini server. love the machine, but want to put varnish in front of the web service. so far it's been a hassle. I can't even get the 0000_any_80_site.example.com.conf file to listen on 127.0.0.1:80...
I start varnish on port 8081, confirm it is running, tell it to look at the backend and apache won't talk to it. I've added the "Listen 127.0.0.1:80" directive to the http_server_app.conf file in the /Library/Server/Web/apache2/Config folder.
I tried to edit the any_80 conf file for the virtual host I want to test, and I've tried it all. I've tried to change the <VirtualHost *:80> to <VirtualHost 127.0.0.1:80>, I've added the Listen 127.0.0.1:80 line to the conf file, and no matter what, varnish reports that the backend is sick and it can't get the file.
To clarify, I browse to the virtual host's domain and add 8081, so the browser is site.example.com:8081 and when going I get varnish responses, but varnish says it can't backend to respond. Varnish is set up to probe 127.0.0.1 on port 8081.
has anyone done this successfully?

H470 resume light on and all other lights off. Did everything listed in trouble shooting.

I need help fixing this. Checked and performed everything described on the HP trouble shooting page for the H470. Nothing worked. Printer does normal startup check and then resume light flashes and all other lights are off.

This light pattern indicates that there is a paper jam or a paper motor stall.
Turn off the printer and then:
1. Clear the paper jam
2. Remove loose paper from the tray
3. Open the front cover and remove any paper jam (look for small pieces as well)
4. Make sure the carriage moves freely (where you put the ink cartridges in)
5. Turn the printer back on and attempt to print a self test page (Press and hold the power button and press the resume button four times)
6. With the printer on, unplug the power cord, wait 15 seconds and plug back in and turn on
7. Attempt another self test page.

I am trying to display a Dialog box with some error message.
I did it using the following code

->the dialog box should be displayed on top of all the windows
->as long as the dialog box is not closed , i should not be able to access other windows
Please don put the setModal() method as solution, it isnt working.
Also i want the solution to be compatible with only java 1.4 compiler.
Please get back with solutions.
