Hey all. Just got my mobo back from newegg (had to get a new one shipped to me, PCI-E was broken in other one)
Well this one appears to work good, but now windows doesnt load when i turn it on
Everything passes in the POST, windows goes to its like loading screen.. then i see a quick flash of the blue screen of death (like a millisecond, i cant read what it says) and my computer restarts. Do i Need to reformat because I installed a new mobo? It's a K8N Diamond Plus, same as my other one. Thanks

If you've the current with same hardware configurations then you need not to reformat it just do windows reinstallation unless if your windows is totally corrupted then my suggest is to do a fresh copied for the windows. gd luck.
P/s: please create your own rig in details including the PSU and Bios revision and put it in your signature.

It just means some spammer is using your email address as the sender address for their spam. This is very easy to do - anyone can do it simply by changing the From email address in their email program. It does not mean your account was hacked or you have a virus (there are no current Mac viruses on the loose anyway, nor has there been for years).
There's nothing you can do about it. It can happen to anyone and the spammers will move on to using someone else's email address before long.

Hello, The Best Buy website has a Frigidaire Home Comfort 12,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner - White Model: FFRE1233Q1 SKU: 6060171. In the Specifications next to "Energy Star Certified" it says "No" and doesn't show the EER. The picture of the unit shows an Energy Star emblem in the upper, right of the unit.
The website also has a Frigidaire Home Comfort 12,000 BTU Air Conditioner - White Model: FFRE1233Q1 SKU: 8274079. It also states in the Specifications next to "Energy Star Certified": "No" yet shows the EER as 11.3. The picture of the unit also shows an Energy Star emblem in the upper, right of the unit. Both units are in the section "Best Buy/ Appliances/ Heating, Cooling & Air Quality/ Air Conditioners/ Window Air Conditioners/ Product Info".

This is certainly bizarre! To my knowledge, it seems that these are the exact same unit, so there wouldn't be any differences. It is possible we were doing some modifications to the information on this unit, and ended up changing the SKU, causing 2 to exist, which may explain why you were able to see both on BestBuy.com at one point. Presently, it would seem the only SKU available on BestBuy.com would be SKU 8274079.
In regards to the specifications, we receive all of the information from the vendor. With that said, I do see that this model appears to be Energy Star Certified according to Frigidaire's site, yet we do not have it listed as such. Please know that I am bringing this issue to the attention of the appropriate teams to have it reviewed, and any errors corrected.
If I should be provided any alternate information in regards to the two SKUs, please know that I will update you right away! If you should have any questions, please let me know.

New SSD in T430, Windows not loading, tried everything...

Hi there,
I bought a T430 about a week ago. I'm not completely inept with computers: I successfully added another 4GB of RAM with no problems.
Then I wanted to replace my HDD with my SSD. I know the SSD works because it was in another laptop. I put it in an external dock; hooked it up to my T430; cleared it. I have kept the HDD as a safe backup, which I have used repeatedly since. I also made a Windows recovery disc on a CD.
I cloned the HDD onto my SSD using EaseUS software and told it to make it bootable. It didn't for me, so I blamed the software.
I then used Acronis True Image to make a bootable copy of my setup on a USB drive. I turned the computer on with just the (blank) SSD and tried to load the USB. The computer refuses to recognize the bootable copy point blank. Just brings me back to a screen asking me which drive I want to boot from repeatedly.
Alright then, I said, clone the HDD onto the SSD and then try the USB bootable. Did that, but it made no impact. Same problem as above.
Okay, let's try a fresh install on the SSD by using the recovery disc. This is when the real fun happens. I get to the Lenovo-themed System Recovery menu, and I click Next. Then I get an alert box saying "This version of System Recovery Options is not compatible with the version of Windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that is compatible with this version of Windows." What? I only made it this morning. I don't think there has been any major updates to Windows since then! (Just in case, I made an even newer recovery disc tonight. I got the same error.)
I then cleared the SSD and tried the recovery disc on the clean SSD. Same error again. The recovery discs aren't working, the system is not recognizing the USB copy, and the cloned (and supposedly boot-ready) SSD won't boot.
What's going on? All I am trying to do is replace my HDD with my SSD, and run Windows 7. I didn't think it would be this hard
Some extra points:
- I am inserting the drives. The computer can read that it's a Samsung 840 series SSD.
- There is no problem with the USB. My desktop can read it just fine, and sees that there is 29GB of stuff there.
- I have changed the boot order in the BIOS to load the USB (or CD) drive first.
- I have disabled the secure startup option in the BIOS.
- I have tried Legacy, UEFI, mixture of both, etc etc.
- Yes, it's a legit copy of Windows. It came with the computer a week ago. There is [i]maybe[/i] an issue that I'm looking to reinstall Windows 7 onto the SSD, but the only recovery discs that come with the computer are Windows 8... but then how do I get Win 7 onto my SSD?
- I have searched the forums. None of the suggested solutions (mostly listed above) have worked.
Any help would be much appreciated, folks.

I had one extra hiccup. The Windows 7 disc could not locate the activation/product key on the BIOS. Neither could any of the semi-questionable programs that I downloaded. So I could not authorize Windows 7.
I called Lenovo. They said it was my fault for using Windows recovery discs instead of Lenovo recovery discs. (Heaven forbid! It really should not matter. It is a terrible approach on the part of Lenovo that their initial recovery discs gave me an error about licensing, but yet they seemingly don't support the stock Windows recovery discs.) Anyway, after I told the agent - in my polite way - that this was a ridiculous scenario, she offered to send me out Lenovo recovery discs.
I accepted. They arrived today. I reinstalled Windows, and now everything is running just fine.
In case anyone in the future reads this thread: ask Lenovo to send you out Win 7 Pro recovery discs, and use them after you install the SSD. It makes the process much easier.

New mobo/cpu rebooting at OS load

Hello everyone! Sorry to bug you all with this, but Ive just about exhausted my limited technical resources and have still yet to resolve my problem. I just ordered the MSI Neo K8T Neo mobo with an AMD 64 3000+ CPU. I installed them last night and got everything powered up and running. Everything was looking good as far as the system posting and detecting my hardware in the BIOS and all, but I'm having one critical problem, and Im not sure what's causing it. Everytime my machine gets ready to boot into WindowsXP Pro it tells me Windows was not shut down properly, and asks me how I'd like to proceed. No matter what option I choose, I see the Windows XP flash screen for about .002 seconds and then BAMO the computer reboots. I've been messing around with the ram/video card voltages, and flashed the BIOS to 1.2, but none of my fiddling has helped so far. Im pretty techincally savvy, but Im pretty uneducated about RAM timings and latency and such and the particular effects of certain voltages with PSes (Im more like "Hey, 450W is a lot right? That should be more than enough than what I need"). Im stuck here, and could really use any help you guys can offer. I included my basic system specs in my signature, along with my PS info (Im not sure if thats what you guys need). Thanks in advance!

10 Amps on the 12 Volt line is pitiful! Even an AthlonXP wouldn't start on that, its amazing that your Athlon64 can. Get a new power supply, with at least 20Amps on the 12volt. Good brands are Enermax and Antec. Do NOT try to save money by buying cheapo, no-name PSU!!!
Also, in your first post you said you were messing around with your CPU, Video and RAM voltages.... don't do that!!! Could fry your stuff real bad if you don't know what you're doing.... Go back into the BIOS and set everything back to default. You can do this by pressing F10 or F8 or one of those "F" keys...

Put new battery in ipod. works fine but windows doesnt see

a few days ago I successfully put a new battery in my ipod.
it has worked fine: charges plays all the music nothing weird.
Then I tried to hook it up to my computer and my itunes doesnt recognize it, windows sees it but I cant access it (says Ipod on drive G). i am in the process of updating it (2005-11-17) now but it appears to be frozen. the drive is full so i dont really know how long it will take and maybe its not frozen.
i also got this prompt:

they are these blue straight plastic things with a little wedge hook doo dad on the end. they couldnt open the ipod initially , i used an exacto knife and pryed it open a little then got the plastics in there. Like changing a bike tube they give you two "irons" to work with. one to hold it open and the other to slid towards the top and bottom. it pops right open. you need to open it from the sides not the bottom or top. The mini i have no idea how to open i also thing the nano is built like the mini. I am sure if you google the battery replacement product it comes with instructions (but make sure you have good eyes, the writing and examples are TINY.

Safari has a feature that allows one to right-click on some text and then Google that text. When using that feature, it Googles the text, but the new webpage of the Google search for that text appears in the same browser window that one was originally in.
When I go into "Preferences," there is an option for links to be opened in a new window or new tab, but I don't see any place to choose to have the right-click-Googling feature open the search results into a new window or tab.

You may install software on up to two computers. These two computers can be Windows, Mac OS, or one each.
If you install on a third computer, it will request you to de-activate on the other two computers. You can then reactivate one of the previous two computers, and use Creative Cloud apps on it.
If you regularly need to use the Creative Cloud on more than two computers then it would be best to purchase an additional subscription. This is the same licensing btw which we have for our prepetual product. An advantage though for Creative Cloud over the prepetural product is that you can install on Mac and Windows with the same subscription!

Without a bootable backup/clone or a Time Machine backup of your previous Snow Leopard installation or a saved copy of Lion's install app, you'll have to upgrade your Leopard volume to Snow Leopard (10.6.6+) so you can waste another hour or more DLing the Lion thing again.

You can use the same account on both - I use the same account on my devices. Generally it's best to have just the one account, as all purchases from the store are tied to the account that buys it - so any iTunes music that you have/will buy will be tied to that account.

Your "Firefox personal data", like bookmarks, are stored in your Profile folder in Firefox. See this support article about how to recover that data from that old hard drive and transfer it your your new Profile.

It is depends on how you crack your device. Is it by an accident?
Do you have iCare? If yes, check the warranty coverage. If the iCare warranty covers this kind of accident, probably they will fix the problem in your old iPhone, or give to you a new one of the same model (iPhone 4S).
