how do i put it in my dock? i cant find the prog in apps folder so i drag it please tell
There's a few ways to do that. The easiest way is to just do a Get Info on the application you'd like to change, and then when that Info windows pops up you can paste a new icon into the picture of its current icon (in the top left corner of the Info window).
Another way is to actually replace the image that the Application uses for its icon.
For example, say you wanted to change the image that Text Edit uses for its icon. You can ctrl+click (or right-click if you have a two button mouse) the application in a Finder window, and go down to Show Package Contents. Then double click on Contents, then on Resources, then on English.lproj (if that is your native language) and you will see that the file "Edit.icns" is the application icon for Text Edit. You can replace that with another image to change its icon, but make sure it's an .icns file otherwise it won't work.

You need to restore the folder using the (Put back) selection (CTRL click).

our computer has two profiles. one profile has safari and we are able to access the internet. on the other profile, the safari application would display a question mark on it when i tried to open the application. i removed the safari application from the dock. now, i can't find the safari application anywhere to be able to use it and put it on my dock.
It sounds like Safari has somehow been installed in a user / Applications folder instead of the Macintosh HD / Applications folder where it should be.
Log in as the user that can open Safari, navigate to home / Applications and drag the Safari icon out of there to the Macintosh HD / Applications folder. Then drag it to the Dock and drop it when the other icons move aside for it.
You should now be able to access Safari from all accounts. -

I had to put it in the bottom section of the dock, just above the trash can. It wouldn't go into the top part of the dock where all my apps are.

I accidently removed the trash can from the dock. Where do I find the trash app to put back on the dock?
I know this is pretty old but I wanted to add this for anyone else who might come across this thread.
I have PathFinder on my system and there is an option to add the "Remove from Dock" contextual menu items to the Finder and Trash. I accidetally removed the Trash icon, and to get it back do this:
1. Open Terminal.app from the "Utilities" folder in the main Applications folder. Or simply open Launchpad or Spotlight and start typing Terminal.
2. Copy and paste the below command exactly, be very careful with Terminal as it can cause terminal damage to your computer if used incorrectly.
killall Dock
Your Desktop background may flash and the Dock will disappear and will repear after a short pause.
You should now have your Finder and Trash icons back.

No iCloud for your Mac. Only possible with 10.7, which you can't run. For the Mail icon, open Mail.app from Applications. The icon should appear in the Dock. Select the option to keep in Dock (if there is one in 10.3.9.)

Go to Applications in Finder and drag the Keynote name you see to the Dock. That puts the icon on the Dock for you.

My ipod touch 5th gen, keeps freezing whenever i put it on a dock
I recently bought the Ipod toouvh 5th gen. I got a dock for it but after about 5 minute of using it, it would make a weird noise and my screen would me frozen. This happened a couple times causing us to return the dock thinking that was the problem. I then bought another one and when I used it my ipod would freeze on a song that was playing for exactly 2 minutes and 30 seconds, but its working fine now. Should I be worried? What should I do?
First let's find out whether the prob is with with the iOS or with the hardware itself.
Try a simple restart (Hold Power+Home for 10 secs till the logo appears)

Ever since the newest version of iTunes (7.0.1), I have had freezing problems with my 5th generation 30GB iPod. I put it in the dock, and the "DO not disconnect" icon comes up and freezes, and the iPod will not show up on my desktop or in iTunes unless I reset it. This happens EVERY time! Any solutions? I'm up to the second on software updates.

Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.
Go to the dock manufacturer's support site and se if they have any suggestion or if a firmware update is available for the dock
