Put XP default theme on Firefox on Windows 7

Is possible put firefox XP Theme default on Firefox theme default windows 7? Because I love light grey of XP Theme default and don't like blue color of windows 7 theme default.
For this reason I use Firefox with compatible mode XP SP3 on Windows 7. But ideally if could just put the XP theme that comes default in firefox for Windows XP on Windows 7.

I had an answer for this but never put it. Thanks for "bumping" it for me :)

If you only want to change the window border around Firefox, you can't without a third party application such as WindowBlinds and if you do decide to go that route, you have to pay or obtain it through other less legal ways. Please note that this application changes the entire Windows theme and not just Windows border so if you want to use an XP Grey theme on Windows 7, it'll change everything from the start button to the icons.

I did find a Brushed Metal theme similar to the Grey XP theme but it's probably not what you are looking for

  • Why does the default theme for firefox 4 only work with add-ons such as personas? It will allow me to preview an alternative theme with a persona but won't let me apply it without switching to the default. No option for disabled and visually impaired.

Firefox 4 will no longer allow me to use a theme (other than the default) with a Persona. When I "try on" a skin, FF4 allows me to ''preview'' the theme with the persona but will not allow me to ''apply'' the persona without '''automatically''' switching my chosen theme (disorganizing my menu's, bookmarks, and tool-bars) back to the default. Firefox 4 also begins to load an all-default setting browser when it is first opened slowing my browsing start up. All issues were not experienced before the Mozilla Firefox 4.0 upgrade.

    Hi David,
Thank you for your detailed question. It sounds like the real issue is pdf files. Are there any antivirus/firewalls that might be blocking this specific file type? or are there any preferences in your control panel that might be blocking this?
Do you have any stored preferences for PDF files in Firefox?

I installed xfce4-svn (and xfce4-svn-extra) the other day, and i would just fell in love with the default gray window decorations!  They are so clean and beautiful. I want to dress my new shiny gnome 2.16 desktop with it...
So... can anyone tell me what the decorations is called, and is there a gnome eqvivalent?

you can open browsers new window using jdic...
unfortunately Desktop.browse() doesnt allow to do that, but we can do that another way:
            String urlToOpen = "http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5236723";
            BrowserService browserService = (BrowserService) ServiceManager.getService(ServiceManager.BROWSER_SERVICE);

  • Opening *.webloc files in Firefox on Windows

when will Firefox on Windows support saved *. webloc files from Firefox on Mac?
    This is ridiculous :/

    Thank you for your reply.
I i can drag & drop a website from Firefox on Mac onto my desktop and reopen it in Firefox in Mac AND Safari Browser, why i cannot open them in Firefox on Windows.
I can drag and drop URLs from Firefox on Windows and reopen them
So what's so wrong about adding support for these kinda files making them work vice versa?
I'm working this way because it's easier and faster and more organized for many reasons when exchaning URLs.
Reason 1.: (keep things organized and in focus)
If i send somone many many web documents (research), there is much more information at first sight, rather than copy pasting the URLs itself plus having to add a description to every URL.
For example this particular page here where we are on it describes itself in the web document name:
''' opening .webloc files in Firefox on Windows Firefox Support Forum Firefox Support'''
read it > double klick > open in browser tab > done
    or else
    '''https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/761091'''
if converted to text only (e-mail, etc.) then i have to > mark url > copy/paste > add in browser.
    Understandable?
But, hey, there is no reason for a reason because there are so many reasons. Fact is that a file which was created from Firefox should work Cross Plattform.
Or du you think i will stay with the external "webloc2url" Perl Script Application forever dragging webloc files from FF on Mac one by one?
If there is a single person who can write a Perl Script application converting/re-writing webloc files to correct URLs and open them without the hassle, why a company like mozilla can't do implement the code into FF?
Go and Google all the complaints about webloc files from Mac.

  • Why does the Firefox 4 default theme set colors that look odd in Windows 7?

On two different Windows 7 PC's I installed FF4 today. I also enabled the Menu bar as I prefer the additional functions to be handy.
The Menu bar is a Gray and light gray color combo that not only looks awkward, but is difficult to read. It seems to follow the Windows 7 standard theme, but doesn't do it very well.
Google searching the issue I see a few other users complaining of the same issue, but I have yet to see an easy fix.
In addition to the bars being colored awkwardly, icons for my extensions that appear in the upper right are also tough to read.
This was not the case with FF3.x.

    @claykin,
did you solve your problem? I've just migrated to W7 and appear to have the same issue. On XP default FF4 theme is gray, which actually suited me. Now on W7 Firefox 4 default theme suddely becomes BLUE !?
What system color does FF4 pick? My OS window color is black, where does blue come from?

  • The windows of the Windows bar are already a form of tabs, so I don't need them in Firefox. How can I disable them completely from Firefox 23?

    RE: TABS ARE WINDOWS!
The Windows bar already functions as a tab bar. Those tabs are called "windows." So, I find Firefox tab windows superfluous. How can I disable them completely from Firefox 23? I don't need what is essentially TWO windows bars covering up the entire width of my widescreen monitor's image! I already have a Windows bar at the bottom of my screen and, if I really wanted to, I could change ITS position to the top of the screen, so that it would LOOK like the Firefox tab windows bar. Firefox TABS are, essentially, a superfluous SECOND WINDOWS BAR.
Here are my reasons for why I'd rather use Mozilla's Firefox, than Microsoft's Internet Explorer or Google's Chrome. I love and admire Firefox for Mozilla's intent on good security, for Firefox's Personas add-on, and for Firefox's free use of the Ad-Block add-on which, as you know, has the distinct virtue of reducing screen clutter--the last of which is my motive for wanting to get rid of the SUPERFLUOUS Firefox tabs "windows" bar. I am dreadfully sick of companies forcing miscellaneous bars (mostly representing marketing campaigns trying to sell me something) into my browser (and down my throat) every time I download something. (In case you haven't guessed, I am deliberately referring to your Firefox tabs bar as a "Firefox tabs 'windows' bar," because TABS are WINDOWS!)

Let me clarify even more. The Firefox add-on you mention does not remove "tabs" windows. It only HIDES the "tabs" bar when there is only one "tab" in that window. It DOES NOT end "tabs." It does not turn "tabs" off.
I know this, because, even with the add-on you recommend, the "tabs" bar often re-appears when I open a link, which--for some unknown reason--Firefox defaults to opening in a second "tab" within the same window, rather than putting it in a new Windows bar window. This, of course, disregards what I want to happen.
I want to use my Windows bar to control my windows. I do not want my Firefox browser controlling my windows--which it calls "tabs." Can you tell me how to shut off "tabs?"

  • Lately, Firefox often won't open the links when I click on them but will only open them when I ask it to open them in a new window or tab.

Often when I open Firefox, in the middle of a session it'll stop responding to my clicking on a link to open it in the same window. It'll show the url in the bottom when I hover over it but will do nothing when I click on it. It will only work when I either right click on it (then select open in new window/tab) or command click on it (opens in new tab automatically). I've noticed that it happens a lot when clicking on a link for a Google search result, but I know that it's not exclusively there, and it probably just sticks out more in my mind.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • If Firefox 20 is in Private Browsing mode then a possible persona is disabled and the default theme is used - oh god, no - what can I do to keep both?

Cor-el answered on the 4.4.13: " If Firefox 20 is in Private Browsing mode then a possible persona is disabled and the default theme is used. So you will have to make a choice."
Can I go back to an older version of FF? I really do not want to choose. Will that problem be fixed in FF 21? I really love Firefox, it has always been my favorite browser - but giving up the Personas will be hard and I don't understand why I have to...
How do I reinstall an older version of FF? Is there another solution?

Remember to use the per window Private Browsing when you are doing banking or other confidential / financial work.
    One option is now

  • My Firefox menus and tabs and text are all warped and slightly out of focus for lack of a better term. What kind of issue is this. I only have the default theme/persona Strata installed. It's quite annoying.

My tabs and text seem slightly corrupted. There's an apparent curviture to the corners and the tops bow. The text is affected but the font's don't appear to have been edited to different fonts. It looks like some photoshop corruption effect to be honest, but this just happens to firefox everytime I use it now. It comes up normal for a second then 'fades' into this corrupt looking version.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
In Firefox 4 [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode Safe mode] disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.<br />
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.
    * Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

  • Default theme incompatible with latest firefox version

I had a Firefox 29 installation on one of my laptops and I copied the profile folder to backup to a different laptop. The other laptop though had Firefox 12 on it so I just updated it, and although my newer add-ons from the backup are now compatible, I can't use the default theme. Instead it has this very basic theme that isn't the default. If I look in the appearance tab it says "Default is incompatible with Firefox 30.0." The theme is labeled "Default 29.0.1". How can I get it to install the default theme for the current version? Thanks.

You can try to delete the compatibility.ini file and check for issues with the files that stores the prefs.
Delete a possible user.js file and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Resetting_preferences
Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
*Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop<br>http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    *(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
    *(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
*It is important to delete the Firefox program to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

    Hello,
Thanks for letting us know about your problem. Its our pleasure.
Generally after updating, sometimes your theme cant cope with the update process. therefor it seems not support with your browser versions. So sometimes Firefox gets security issue and turn off the theme.
For fixing this problem, you can try by removing the theme and install it again.
For more instruction on removing and installing themes, you can see this article [[Use themes to change the look of Firefox]].
    Hope this answer is helpful.
Please let us know if this problem can not be solved by mentioned process.

  • On my own website vdha.us, I am now getting many words that are purple and when you mouse over them, a new spamming window opens trying to sell something. IE-9 does not do this. How do I turn this off in firefox?

    Sirs,
The below URL came up immediately when I tried to access our Newfangled website this morning http://vdha.us :
    http://surveyprizecenter.com/survey/claimgift-GT-kw-7b.php?t202kw=Vdha.us&trimmedKeyword=Vdha.us
I prefer to use Firefox and very seldom use IE-9. but now I might be forced to remove Firefox 4.0.1 and resort to using IE-9 because of this situation.
I don’t know how spammers can use our website to exploit their spamming, but I can only imagine the complaints I am going to get from our Board of Directors and members about this.
Can you make them stop, or at least explain how it is that anyone can do this without our permission.
We have never allowed advertisement on our website and don’t plan on starting now.
I am now also getting many words that are purple with two lines under them, and when you mouse over them, a new spamming window opens automatically trying to sell something. How do I turn this off?
I would appreciate any expediency in the return of an answer that you can provide.

The "MySearchDial" app needs to be removed in 4 places.
    1) Go to "add / remove programs" in your windows control panel select mysearchdial and remove it.
    2) Open your Firefox browser then click the Firefox tab at the top left and select options. You will need to change the start page settings back to your preferred start page.
    3) Again under the Firefox tab select "add-ons". In the add-ons manager you will need to remove mysearchdial from both "plugins" and "extensions"
    4) In your search bar (top right of address bar" use the drop down menu and select "manage search engines". You can restore your preferred search engine and remove mysearchdial from the menu.
This should remove all the components of the nuisance hijacker and restore your browser back to your preferred settings. If you are comfortable with a more in depth removal I would also suggest going to your "programs" folder within the "C" drive of your machine and deleting the "MySearchDial" folder altogether. However, only do this AFTER you have uninstalled it from your system and if you are familiar with this type of removal.

  • How do I install a Theme download in Firefox 4 -Windows XPproSP3

I have downloaded a Theme ( utopia_ffse_white-4.0.5-fx.jar) to my desktop and have been unable to find out how to install it.
Never had any problems over the years with any other versions of Firefox or Themes, and this it the latest version FF4 release.
I checked the Mozilla (Programs folder) and found no folders containing any (.jar) files, and would appreciate any help available.
    Thank you.
    Doug

Easiest to install themes is directly from the website.
Open the Theme Manager (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance) and then drag the theme_name.jar file in the left pane of the Theme Manager window.<br />
You need to restart Firefox twice for a theme:
    # After the download to install the theme so you see it in the Add-ons Manager.
    # To use the theme by selecting it in Themes Manager.

  • My firefox 4 default theme looks nothing like the one in the video.

I just installed firefox 4. Sadly my default theme looks nothing like the one in the video..
    Heres how it looks..
    http://i51.tinypic.com/2w5ru4o.png

First you need to use the default theme "Default 4.0" in "Tools" > "Add-ons" > "Appearance".
After that, right click the top bar and unckeck "Menu Bar". This will disable the menu bar and show the orange Firefox button.
Make sure you have also "Tabs on top" checked.
I also see you use ChromiFox theme in Firefox 3. If you want to have a similar theme for Firefox 4, you can download the FXChrome theme.

  • How can I opt out on the default setting for a split window in Firefox 3.6.12 ?

Since I upgraded to Firefox 3.6.12, the page opens up with two vertically divided panes. Each pane displays a different bookmark. The left pane is generally only about an inch wide and can only be expanded to about 3 inches wide. In that mode, it is pretty much useless and only provides a distraction. How can I opt out on what appears to be the default setting for a split window with two vertical panes.
At this point, I am discontinuing using Firefox in favor of Safari because of this change in the default window.

Opening in the side bar is the default for bookmarks that are created via a link or button on a website.
You can check the Properties of a bookmark via the right-click context menu in the side bar (Ctrl+B; Cmd+B on Mac).
In the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks) you can click the More button in the Details pane at the bottom right.
Make sure that "Load this bookmark in the side bar" is not selected.
