Putaway Strategy I: addition to existing stock

Hi,
I've set the storage type search sequence C01 as follows:
1st storage type: H01: (putaway strategy: I, mixed storage; addition to existing stock; capacity check method: 4)
2nd storage type: J01: (putaway storage type: C: open storage)
But the problem is, when I perform GR, there's enough space in the bins under storage type H01, but the system suggests me to put the material to open storage J01. What's the problem?
Thanks.

Hi Csaba,
Thanks a lot for your advice.
Yes, "mixed storage" are not suggested to be activated according to the SAP help document.
But the fact is, no system warning or error message occurred when I activate "mixed storage" for the storage type H01 with putaway "I".
Current requirement is,  I want the system search storage bin by the following sequence:
1. sequence 1
Firstly, search the storage bin that contains same material
2. sequence 2
if above search failed, then search another non-empty storage bin    <---  No performed by the system
3. sequence 3
if both above failed, then search empty bin.
4. sequence 4
search storage bin in other storage type according to the storage type search sequence
But the problem is, by the putaway strategy I, the systme does NOT perform sequence 2, i.e.  search other non-empty storage bin under the storage type H01 (the putaway strategy for H01 is I, and I activated "mixed storage" for it)  .
The big proglem is, if I select the putaway strategy as I: additin to existing stock, the system only
look for the bin with same material or empty bin; the system does not look for the bins contain other
materials even though the bins are big enough to store the material.
So what's the problem? If I don't use putaway strategy I, is there any other putaway strategy meet my requirements?
Kindly please advise again.

  • Putaway strategy based on nearest empty bin

    Gurus
In my storage type there are different bins, how is it possible for me to have the system propose a nearest empty bin for a putaway location, nearest empty need not be the next empty bin strategy, what considerations i should take during bin creation, how can this be linked to the sort sequence, need a clean explanation of this issue.

    Hi
You can use sort variable function to map nearer to your requirement, called as Cross-line stock putaway.
    Cross-Line Stock Putaway
In this function, a sort variable helps the system to search for suitable storage bins. With the sort variable, you can eliminate the problems caused by one-sided loading in the warehouse and optimize the stock putaway process in your warehouse. If the sort variable has not been defined, the system sorts using the storage bin coordinate itself
With the putaway strategies L (next storage bin) and P (storage unit type), you can influence the search for a suitable storage bin with the help of a sort variable. This method can also be set up for storage types with putaway strategies L (Addition to existing stock) or B (Bulk storage), since if the system does not find a bin for adding to existing stock, it will use sort variables to find an empty storage bin.

  • U0093Addn to stocku0094 for putaway strategy u0093 u0093  in storage type not working

    Hi
It seems that the flag “Addn to stock” for putaway strategy “ “  in the storage type 103 configuration is not working fine as the quantities of the same material with the same batch sent to the same stype 103, and destination bin are not being added. So by running stock report in WM we see several lines with partial quantities instead of only one line with the total quantity in place. Do anybody know how can that be solved? Or what can be the route cause of the issue? Is there any OSS known applicable to fix the problem?
    Thx for your help

    Hi Alba,
Please check the WM views in MM.
    I've checked:
(SAP help pushing F1 when the cursor is set on this thick box)
<i>Indicator: Allow addition to existing stock
Indicator determining whether a material with particular characteristics may be added to existing stock of the same material with the same characteristics in one storage bin.

  • Putaway Strategy I, not allowing second material with different batch

    Hi all,
Can someone please help me to understand where is the problem
    My config is
    Strg Typ 401
    Putaway Strategy I
    Capacity check - 4
    Mixed storage: X
    Addition to existing stock: X
    Storage section check -active
Storage bin created for the storage section in the storage type 401
Maximum capacity maintained in Storage bin
In material master WM view 1- maintained capacity.
When system is correctly finding Bin for First material / Batch combination
But when I am trying to create TO for same material with different batch it does not find storage bin - even the storage bin capacity is still remaining
Also it is not accepting second material in same bin.
The only requirement to have startegy I is that same materials can be placed in same Bins (sorry but dont need fixed bin)
    Thanks

    Hi Hiren,
You are correct I forgot to mention that in my earlier reply. Actually with out storage unit you can store only one quant in a Bin. So it can add stock to the same quant if we use addition to existing sock feature. If the material batch combination changes it cannot use the same quant, so it wont be able to add the stock to existing quant. If a new quant is to be stored in the same BIN it has to be storage unit managed. To in nutshell multi material multi batch your scenario can be achieved with storage unit managed storage type.
For storage unit setup you can refer below link.
Storage Unit Management - Warehouse Management System (WMS) - SAP Library
If you find this useful please close the tread.

  • Putaway strategy K: near picking bin

    Hi guys,
I am experimenting putaway strategy K with 2 storage types, fixed bins & reserve. In my setup when capacity check is enabled in fixed storage type and no capacity left, the system searches for another bin from reserve and it works fine.
However my requirement would be that system would switch to reserve bins right away if fixed storage bin is NOT empty. Standard customization does not allow to disable "addition to existing stock" in case of putaway strategy is F - fixed bins.
Any advice how to achieve this in standard system or is the user exit needed?

    Hello,
Put away strategy K (Near Picking Bin) is used for materials that is being is frequently picked, as it is appropriate to store the material close to picking area.
In this strategy system will try to place the material in fixed bin, if not the system will try a reserve bin, the baseline is system will do placement in a bin which is closest to picking area using configured search.
You can define this in transaction OMLA.
    The screen will shows six possible configurations selections;
    >Put away strategy activation
    >Storage type control definition
    >Search per level definition
    >Row ans shelf assignment
    >Storage bin generation
    >Consistency checks
Also in IMG >>Logistics Execution>>Warehouse Management>>Strategies>>Put away strategies>>Define strategy for Near Picking Bin
For respective warehouse and storage type, it is genuinely to leave the configuration with only 'K' in stock placement control and this will surely perform put away in reserve bin as expected and required by you, without searching for the fixed bin or carrying out a search for a relevant bin.

  • Putaway Strategy

If my current Putaway Setting on my storage type is "Manual (Blank)" and "Addition to existing stock" is allowed.
The capacity check for the storage type is "Not Activated" .
If I have the same material in 4 bins. In which order bins will be picked.

  • Putaway strategy for mixed pallets

    Hi guys,
I need your suggestion to determine the correct putaway strategy. This is the scenario: We have a rack which will stock mixed pallets (more than one material) in the same bin. We want the same behavior of the putaway strategy I u201CAddition to existing stocku201D. In order to control the capacity of the bins Iu2019ve configure the Capacity check method 4 u201CUsage check based on materialu201D and try to control the capacity by volume, however, this measure is not realistic because in a pallet exist a lot of space that will not be consume by the material (in this case, books).
    Example:
    1 Pallet = 1.000 CM3
    1 Book = 1 CM3
    Consume of material = 1
    Bin capacity = 1000
In this case, de capacity check will let stock 1.000 UN of material in the bin, but the true is that one pallet could only contain 700 UN.
I try to get the consume materialu2019s amount dividing the bin capacity by the total quantity of a pallet (Consume of material = 1000 / 700) but this could only works for NOT mixed palletsu2026
A possible solution is the Pallet strategy, but I have the same error. You define the pallet quantity at material level, so I have the same problem for the mixed pallets. Can I indicate the system which materials will go together before the TO creation?
Any suggestion will be really appreciated!

    Hi Hein
yes, creating seperate storage type for racking and floor is a solution.
but if we want to keep it as whole room as One Storage type.
what you think about   putaway strategy "P" Pallet putaway strategy.   if we consider floor as speerate BIN TYPE and define BIN TYPE and SUT  permitted .  And Allowed SU in that BIN TYPE.
    your opnion please.

    Hi Guys
Unfortunately I do not think that you will get an answer now. Either your question is not simple or we do not know.
So in the interest of keeping the Forum tidy and easier to surf through could you please close your thread and wither try one of the other forums or try another post. I do not think that mosy people will bother to look this far back anymore.

  • SAP WM: Mixed pallet with putaway strategy "P"

    Dear Experts,
I am using putaway strategy P for a storage type and I have given X for Mixed storage field.
I am not able to put multiple batches of same material in one bin, is it possible with putaway strategy P
I am not using SU management.
    Thanks in advance,
    Amit Kumar

This is from a WM colleague:
First it will always look at same bin as a material is stored
    with put away strategy “I”.
This scenario is completely wrong, if I understand it right.
He/she needs to look at the bin strategy for the SU types
defined in the LE qty. / SUT types for bin type.
Strategy “I” is for addition to stock like they said.
Capacity check 2 only works if it is SUT active, which they say it is
not.  Not the check flag, but the SUT.
The strategy for SUT type allowed to bin type only works if it
is SUT managed, which they say it is not.
The strategy just doesn’t seem right.  If they do not use
SU’s, the only capacity check that works is max from the material master (WM-1
    view) weight “1”.
The bin type / SUT strategy will not work unless they are using
SUT’s for storage.  Not just the LE qty. in the SUT defined.
If they aren’t using SUTs for storage, it is only a quant.
Noting is configurable for strategy of quant to storage bin type.

  • Bulk Putaway Strategy

    Hi,
I have a query relating to the determination of bins for my bulk putaway strategy.
On my bulk storage type I am using putaway strategy B (Bulk Storage) and mixed storage indicator C (several batches per bin only SU bulk storage)
Having generated a putaway the system successfully denotes next empty bin until capacity as per the block structure under OMM4 is full. So far so good however it does not then allocate the remainder of the putaway to a bin where the same product is house although a different batch. (ie the error message below appears)
    System message L3  009
No destination storage bin to be found in storage type 004
However i can manually denote a bin where there is already the same material but with a different batch. The system then allows this entry.
Does anybody understd why the system would not automatically select this bin which should be ok?
    Any ideas appreciated.
    many thanks,
    Adam.

Must be a slow start to the year...too many Xmas ales...
Solution: Set Level of Total Quant Count to 1
    Level of Total Quant Count
The Total field is used for internal calculation of the total quant count for SU-managed bulk storage. This parameter influences both stock placements and stock removals.
    Stock Placement
For putaways this parameter controls whether the system will automatically mix batches or not. If the parameter is set to "1" (batch neutral), the system looks for a storage bin where the material already exists. The batch number is not taken into consideration in this case. If the parameter is set to "2" (batch specific), the system looks for a storage bin where the batch of the material already exists and attempts to add the new stock to the existing stock. If that isnu2019t possible, the system looks for an empty storage bin.

  • New custom putaway strategy

    Hi experts,
Am a techie and in need your clarifications. My requirement is for creating a custom putaway strategy say 'Z' this will be ideally copied from the standard 'I'(Addition to exsiting stock) and new feature (like some of bulk storage etc) to be added to it.
can this be done by config or does it involve programming changes to be done. I would appreciate the steps involved in either cases to proceed.

    Hello Ram,
I doubt if you  can define your own stretegy "Z". but ofcourse you can use user exit as an enhancement.
You can do coding as per your logic in this enhancement MWMTO003 - Own stock Putaway strategy and activate it for particular storage type in Storage type data settings.
    Hope this helps

  • SAP WM Putaway strategy - Next empty bin

    Hello,
I am testing putaway strategy - L - Next empty bin.
    I' ve created 902 - Storage type:
Also i've been activated storage type search and storage section search:
Then i've added this data to material master:
And i also defined movement type- 101 for purchase orders:
Also, special for this, i've created the empty bin:
But when i am trying to post goods receipt in MIGO, i am getting the following error:
Storage bin Z02   does not exist (check your entry)
    Message no. L9009
Could you please advise - what is wrong - why i can't post the goods receipt in MIGO?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hello, Jürgen
That's the settings for standard 101 wm mvmt type:
That's setting for my 101 wm mvmt type:
Difference - that i don't want to use dynamic storage bins.
And i still have this error:
Storage bin Z02 902  does not exist (check your entry)
    Message no. L9009
Now system defines also storage type, because of i wrote it in the mvmt type, but i still can't understand, why it doesn't find storage bin, according the strategy.
I think, that i 've made all necessary customizing settings and i also have one empty storage bin on this storage type and storage section.

  • Putaway strategy 'Q' Dynamic quant

    Hi,
We have an issue with the internal movement of stock from a storage type that does not allow partial quantity picking.
Scenario: The Putaway strategy for the St type has been configured as 'Q' and picking strategy as 'F'. The available stock in the bin/quant is say 1000 Boxes. I have created a transfer order to pick only 600 boxes. when i confirm the transfer order system is confirming the full 1000 boxes rather than picking only partial qty. Full stock removal has not been activated for this St type in config.
We would like to know if this is something to do with the st type with Q config(like does Q allows picking of complete quant only?).
if anyone has faced this issue earlier would be great to get some hints.
    Thanks,
    Harish

For our movement type over deliveries are allowed. Below is my observation:
    1. when we transfer stock from bulk storage type system allowing us to confirm part pallet using mvt type say 9**.
    2. when we transfer stock from dynamic quant number then system does not allow us to confirm part pallet but confirms full pallet only and this is using the same mvt type 9**.
we are using same movement type for transfer of stock from both these storage type onto a staging area which is a interim location but system is behaving differently for these two scenarios.
I am not sure if standard SAP has made dynamic quant storage type to allow withdrawal of full pallet only and needs help if someone has faced similar issue.
    Best Regards,
    Harish

  • Putaway strategy for rack storage and floor

    HI
we have define one warehouse room as One Storage Type. its rack storage . Storage unit
managed . in each storage bin one Su (pallet) can be placed. Some times we keep stocks (on pallets) on the floor
(Pallets in one layer). No of Pallets(SU) is defined at that floor, say 100 pallets can be placed on the floor.
we need Capacity check method = 2 (Check based on palletization accord. to SUT 1).
Which Putaway strategy should be applied for this storage type.? considering 1 bin = 1 pallet and Pallets on the floor.

  • [WM] Putaway strategy for bulk storage type SU-managed

    Hi Gurus,
    I need your help
I have a Bulk storage type with SU-managed. I would undestand the real behaviour of putaway strategy B.
    1)  Case 1: assume that in bulk storage type there are the followed bins (rows):
    - in bin XX1 there is material AAA
    - Bin XX2 is empty
In this situation if i receive material AAA, putaway strategy B chooses the bin XX1 by background processing - correct!
    2) Case 2: assume that in bulk storage type there are the followed bins (rows):
    - In Bin XX1 there is material AAA
    - in Bin XX2 there is material AAA
    - in Bin XX3 there is material AAA
In this situation if i receive material AAA, i don't undestand the behaviour of putaway strategy B. Seems that the system chooses in random way the bin (XX1, XX2 and XX3).
P.S: the storage unit type is one of default - E1.
    Can you help me?
    Thank very much

    You told
    Addn to Stock: X
    Block upon placement: empty
Then How can you have Case 2?
In Bin XX1 there is material AAA
Next time also stock goes to XX1 only not XX2 unless you overwrite manually.
What does your block strage structure looks like? i'm sorry but i don't undestand your question.
Go to OMM4 "Define-Block struct." and look No. SUs for your St. bin type, SUT & Bulk stor Ind.
