Putting a Flash Intro on iweb

I brought a flash intro in .fla format and I was using FTP for mac to upload the flash intro to my iweb. What is the FTP server for site of iweb.

Where are you hosting the site? If you have a MobileMe account and are using iWeb you don't need an ftp application (MobileMe doesn't support ftp, only WebDAV). Just use the File->Publish to MobileMe menu option.

  • How to put a Flash movie on IWeb pages

    I am trying to find out how I can put flash movies on a website designed in IWeb. The .mov files are large and therefore load very slowly (and are also able to be downloaded by anyone with QT Pro I think).
    Does anyone know how to put flash videos (and what format they are supposed to be in - that SWV or FLV) on IWeb? I think I have to put a flash player on the page (or site, whatever) as well.
    Apple Care can't help me - and when I went for a One-on-One at the Apple Store it was a complete waste of time (I have to drive an hour just to get there).
    I have found a few programs on the internet that I can buy to convert my videos to Flash (without having to spend a fortune on Adobe Flash).
    Any help is GREATLY appreciated!
    Thanks,

  • Flash Intros on an iWeb site

    I purchased a flash intro template off of templatemonster.com. I edited the flash intro in a trial version of Adobe Flash CS3. After I edited the template so that it had the wording I wanted I then did not know what to do to actually make it my flash intro. After I had edited it, it gave me .html, .swf and .fla files for the intro. The .html file and the .swf file actually play the intro, the .fla file does not.
    After playing around for some time, I realized that the flash intro would not play because my index.html file directs the front page to be the "Welcome" page. After playing around for a bit, I changed the name of my flash intro .html file to "Welcome_.html"...the same file name as the front page. I uploaded the flash "Welcome_.html" file to the the server and BOOOOM! My flash intro plays however it is in the wrong position and does not link to the site. I believe the correct file is supposed to be the .swf version because it is centered correctly and includes buttons like "sound" and replay.
    Anyways, I know I am far off with my jerry-rigging of the .html files, but does anybody out there know how to put a flash intro onto an iWeb site or how that would look on the server?

    Drag the SWF file onto your welcome page in iWeb. If you don't want the control bar, uncheck it in the QuickTime inspector. Check autoplay and loop if your flash file is not set to autoplay and loop.
    When you upload to the server the SWF file is in the Media folder.

  • Putting Flash Intros on my site?

    I have Dreamweaver CS4 and I want to put a Flash intro on my
    site that plays before getting to the home page, but I can't seem
    to find any tutorials on it. Can somebody point me in the right
    direction? I know how to embed a Flash video onto my pages, but I
    don't know how to get one to be a separate piece. Thanks all!

    >>The splash screen becomes the index
    Yup!
    And just for the record, when a prospective client demands a
    splash page or
    autoplay music I refuse to build the site. Not saying you or
    anyone else
    should do that.
    There's an old joke about a man asking a woman if she would
    sleep with him
    for $1M. She says, "Absolutely; Yes!" He then asks, "Will you
    sleep with me
    for $10?". She replies vehemently, "Hell No! What do you
    think I am?" To
    which he replies, "We have already established that. Now we
    are merely
    negotiating the price."
    To me, if I tell a client or prospect that auto play music or
    a splash page
    will be significantly counterproductive and they should not
    even consider
    either and then I go ahead and add either to the site, I'm
    nothing more than
    what that woman was.
    You see I don't think my primary goal is to please my client;
    that's my
    secondary goal. My primary goal is to please my client's
    prospective
    clients/customers. Not surprisingly, when I am unencumbered
    in pursuing my
    primary goal I routinely accomplish that secondary goal.
    That's just me. Not saying you should take that rigid
    position, but you
    might want to at least think about it. ;-)

  • Putting a flash (swf) animation into iWeb

    A similar question was asked previously -- how to put a Flash file into an iWeb site.
    The answer --- which apparently works starts like this --- 1) Open your iDisk and open the "Web" folder. Inside of that, open the "Sites" folder. >>>
    My problem is, I don't have an "iDisk." I actually have 7 different "Web" folders on my system. And he only time "iDisk" appears on a search related to "classic application."
    Can someone tell me where to find the right folder?

    I have found that IDisk is for .mac members -- I am one.
    How do I access my iDisk?

  • CAN YOU USE A FLASH TEMPLATE IN IWEB?

    I have recently created my website using iWeb....albeit with much help from this forum...and am very pleased with the results.
    I would like to, however, have my site open with a Flash introduction. I have seen many affordable Flash Templates for sale on the web and am wondering it any of these would successfully work with iWeb. If so:
    1. What specs would I need to look for?
    2. Does anyone know of a site that sells iWeb compatible Flash intros?
    Thanks for all of your answers to my previous posts and hopefully this one as well.

    Sandie,
    Yes I have used Keynote as an intro and I once used it in swf format. I ended up liking the QT better.
    Here is the intro:
    http://web.mac.com/abenningfield/iWeb/CameraObscura/Camera%20Obscura%20Intro.htm l
    As an example...here is another I created in Keynote:
    http://web.mac.com/abenningfield/iWeb/ArchivalGenealogyVault/Archival%20Genealog y%20Vault%20Intro.html
    But as far as Adobe Flash goes.....I don't have the pro version (I have Basic) and I got a fully functional demo for 30days. Yeah it did cost about 400 bucks after the 30 day trial. Yikes.
    On the right side of this page is a third party flash file that I bought for a dollar. I used the free demo of Flash and put it on my site. After you format the flash file you want.....you don't need to keep Flash unless you want it (I did).
    http://web.mac.com/abenningfield/iWeb/CameraObscura/Links.html
    But Keynote is great...and yes Kirk is right....wait for the new version.
    Also here is another app that converts video to swf:

  • Squashed Flash Video in iWeb

    This is a stumper and I could really use a freah perspective on it.
    I have been trying to get a Flash movie on my iWeb site bu using the instructions on the iWebUnlimited site here...
    http://iwebunlimited.com/iweb-tips/iweb-tip-9-flash-video-in-iweb-jw-player/
    The problem I have is that when I publish my changes in iWeb and point my browser to the page the movie is on, the movie plays as a litttle squashed box in the middle of the player.  Let me explain...
    I followed the instructions on the iWebUnlimited site to the letter.  I have downloaded the .swf and .js files, placed them in a folder called "flash" on my iDisk as well as my .flv movie file and a screengrab of the same size.
    I have changed all the parameters in the HTML code to point to my iDisk and the relavent files.
    I have changed the video dimensions to that of my newly encoded .flv video  (640 x 352 - in ffmpegx)
    When I go to my movie page in my browser, I see the still shot I took as a place marker in the right dimensions.  Yet when I play the movie, although the player is the size I requested - 640 x 352 - the actual movie plays inside it as a squashed box.  Take a look at the screenshot below to see what I mean.
    The video should fill the black areas, but whatever I do this is the result...
    Here is the info on the flash video I uploaded to my iDisk and how is should look...
    And here is the HTML code with the same dimensions input in iWeb before I published.  I have changed my username back to "username" for this screenshot FYI...
    The weird thing is - I uploaded a flash movie a couple of years ago to the same page and it plays ok - looks fine.  Shame I can't remember how the **** I did it!  I wondered if having 2 flash movies on the same page were causing the problem, so I deleted the old one.
    Same result.
    I created a new fresh movie page and tried that - same result again.
    I thought that maybe each movie needed it's own set of .swf and .js files as the 2 movies are of different dimensions, each player would need to be different dimensions also....?
    So I even added another set of .swf and .js files.  I tried copying the 2 sets of movie files to individual folders, but iWeb didn't see them at all - it only seems to see them is they are in a folder called "flash" in my "Web >Sites" folders on my iDisk.
    I was wondering even if it was down to the encoding of the video, which I did in ffmpegx.  I did have to do it in a roundabout way...
    In Final Cut Pro I exported a full quality QT movie - ProRes422 1280 x 720 that turned out at 5.32 GB and 12 mins 5 secs in duration.
    This is not recognised by ffmgegx, looks like the ProRes codec has it confused.
    So I put it into Compressor and re-encoded it as a H.264 movie 1280 x 720 that turned out at 1.72 GB.
    When I put this into ffmgegx it encoded just fine, but stopped after 7 mins and 7 secs.
    I tried a hundred different ways but it always stopped at 7m7s...
    So I eventually dropped it onto a droplet I downloaded somewhere to convert videos for Vimeo HD  - 1280 x 720.  I dropped this into ffmpegx and Hey Presto - it worked!
    So I now have my full length .flv movie at my 640 x 352 on my iDisk with iWeb pointing at it and the correct dimensions input in the HTML code, and it STILL comes out squashed....
    if anyone has a clus what is causing this or what I am doing wrong, I will be forever in your debt!
    I know this is an epic mail, but I wanted to give all the info I can......

    If you are using a SWF or FLV you don't need to use the JW player assets. Just reference the file in an iFrame code....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Website-Movie-Video/Flash-SWF-FLV.html
    Adjust the dimensions of the frame to fit the movie and control bar if necessary.
    This page shows the JW using the embed code and the javascript version...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Website-Movie-Video/JW-Media-Player.html
    If you want to us the JW player using the javascript shown on the iWeb unlimited site, you need to adjust the player frame dimensions to suit the control bar position that you specified. I notice that this website doesn't mention the fact that the control bar position can be changed - normally "bottom" or "over". If you set the control bar to "bottom", the frame height needs to be increased. Also the javascript shown is not the latest one where you can specify all the custom options.
    If you use the javascript that I employed for the second example on the iWeb for Musicians site, you can do a lot of customizing and specify flash with fallback to HTML5 or vice versa.

  • Flash files in iWeb - Thanks

    While it's been possible to place flash files in iWeb with workarounds in the past it's now easy with the new version. The HTML snippet feature has saved the day, Thanks Apple! I can hardly imagine the net without Flash.
    To see an example go here:
    http://web.mac.com/catucker/InsideOutside/Alternatives.html

    Like ive said in this topic, i need to know where Altartifact put his files in his iDisk, too.
    Ive tried all that i know, location in the Web folder, site folder, "my website" folder... Link with "../", with .//"... xD
    theres is my code, any idea ?
    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#v ersion=7,0,19,0" width="611" height="511" title="flash_accueil">
    <param name="movie" value="WHEREIS_MY_FILE??" />
    <param name="quality" value="high" />
    <embed src="WHEREIS_MY_FILE??" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="611" height="511"></embed>
    </object>
    Maybe there is an error in this... because ive tried to use it with a FTP server, and the ".swf" animation is "not charged"... and its in the main page files folder !
    I cant understand... this code was working with iWeb Enhancer... :/

  • Video to Flash Intro

    I made a 10 second video that I would like to put on my webpage as a flash intro but I don't know anything about flash. Is there an alternative or an easy way to do this?

    Has anybody ever used one or recommend one. Preferably free. < </div>
    You're on your own there. But if you find one you lie, please come back and let us know which one you used.
    The buzz around Flash is still bigger than the reality as witnessed by your misunderstanding. it is NOT a univresal solution to anything and it comes with a heavy learning curve.
    Flash is a super efficient visual technology that uses, when it can, the host computer to build images. This keeps the files really small. However, this trick only works with vector images. Video must be rasterized so the Flash version of any QT file is going to be about the same size. Flash has the advantage of offering universally available free players. QT and WMV are proprietary and the two owners have conflicting agendas about global domination. Adobe wants to rule the world, too, but Flash is free and will run on anything anywhere anytime.
    Drop by adobe.com and spend a few days trying to figure it out.

  • Flash intro newbie

    I don't know if this belongs in flash or dreamweaver, so I'm
    posting it in both places. I have a quicktime movie (originally a
    motion movie) that I converted into flash video in hopes of using
    it as an intro to a webpage created with dreamweaver. It works
    fine, but I cannot figure out how to make it go away after the
    movie is done and leave behind the contents of the page. My
    original thought was to put it in a layer and make the layer with
    the flash movie invisible once the movie was done playing, but that
    didn't work. I then tried adding the behavior go to URL and using
    the URL of the page without the flash movie, but that didn't work,
    either. Is there any way top use a flash movie in dreamweaver and
    then make it go away? Is there a simpler way to accomplish using a
    flash movie as an intro? Thank you so much for your help.

    I might be wrong, but I think you have to build that in to
    the flash
    file itself.
    But don't forget to add a skip intro link on your home page
    because I
    think it's fair to say that a lot of internet users find
    flash intros
    annoying. It's just another thing standing in the way of
    getting the
    information they're looking for.

  • How to add flash intro into website

    I have a custom flash intro and I do not know how to add it to my website and then make it redirect to my site. I have asked numerous people but none seem to explain the steps.  Im fairly new at this so guidance would be great.  Thanks in advance!

    hmm...
    Ok here's what I would do.
    Ito make a simple "button" on the current flash project, create a new layer or select a symol in a layer to use as the anchor. Hit window -> actions and it should bring up an actions frame. In that frame put this.....
    on(release){
    getURL("INSERT YOUR FULL URL HERE");
    and that "should" do it for a button.  I've gotta do some digging for you on an auto-loader though. Someone else might be able to help out there.
    In Adobe Flash - go to file -> publish -> settings and make sure you are publsihgin the movie itself, but also publish an html file.  This will create a file with the movie embedded into it.It'll probably put it in a new folder inside the folder that you are saving the current file to.
    now, on your server - move the .html file AND the .swf into the root of your directory. Rename the .html file to something simple like test.html or whatever, and point your FF browser to that file and see if it works correctly.
    If it is all working correctly, rename your old index.html to something like index_2.html (or whatever the inserted URL from above is) and rename the file that flash published as index.html.  Now target your domain name and it should work!
    if you want to post a link to your swf file I can see if it works here.

  • Help needed with Flash intro

    Hi,
    I've made a little Flash intro for a site I built in Golive.
    I have no knowledge of Flash whatsoever and I need some help to
    make sure that as soon as the intro finishes the visitor is
    redirected to the homepage. I made the intro in Imageready (so all
    frames ended up being bitmaps in Flash), but I read somewhere that
    I should use some scripting on the last frame. I've opened the file
    in Flash, but I'm not sure what script to use and how. Could
    someone help me out here (it's not a commercial site, it's just my
    own site but any help would not be less appreciated!)? And then, do
    I also need to add scripting to the html-page.
    My site is here:
    http://www.fdesign.eu/sicilia2007/index.html

    on the last frame put....
    this.stop();
    getURL("home.html");

  • Problem with Flash Menu in iWeb...need help please.

    Ok, I designed a flash menu in iWeb and successfully placed it at the top of the site. I then used the "transparent shape" method to make the hyperlinks work properly. I made sure the flash menu was in the back and the transparent shape hyperlinks were in the front. The menu works just fine for me and anyone else using Safari or Mac computers. However, people on Windows using Firefox, IE or Chrome are unsuccessful in clicking the links. They do not work for them.
    Here's my website's homepage link. Keep in mind, if you look there on Safari, it will work but it does not when on a Windows computer. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    http://www.platinumsportspicks.com/Index/Home/Home.html
    It is clearly the problem that the flash menu is opening in front of the hyperlinked shapes but I'm not sure how to make sure they stay on front.

    I don't know the answer to that one but you can use the Mouse Over and Click method I have described on this page....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Tricks/MouseOver.html
    It works in IE.
    Its just a question of making up two different buttons with text for each link, taking a screenshot and cropping them and adding the JPEGs to your upload folder.
    You can make up the buttons on an iWeb page and then delete them when you have taken the screenshots. I usually do this sort of thing in Keynote so that I can save them in case I need to modify them.

  • How can I import my html flash intro into Muse?

    I created a flash intro using Tumult Hype.
    I just designed a website in Adobe Muse and I'd like to insert my flash intro to be the first screen on my website. I'd also like to link it so that when i click "enter" it takes me to the home page of my site.
    How can i do this? I've read numerous articles and forums on this problem and no one seems to have the solution.
    Someone PLEASE HELP!

    Use the code below... Upload your tumult file to your server as i don't think this will work locally. Insert an HTML object on your first page in Muse ( Home/Index.html ) and paste the code below in the object, change the URL in the code to point to your Tumult document. You may have to use an absolute path to other pages when you click the enter button for example http://www.yoursite.com/otherpage.html which will then take you to other pages in your muse document. Let me know if you run into issues...
    Adding iframes to your site to display other site pages with embedded HTML
    In addition to using embedded HTML to insert code you've pasted from a third-party website, you can also embed an entire web page within an iframe using the same method. For example, you can type a code snippet like this:
    <iframe title="A Title for this Content" src="http://yoururlhere.com" width="900" height="500" style="border: 0;"></iframe>
    In the code above, replace the text in the title="" and url="" with the desired external web page's title and URL. You can also customize the width and height of the iframe window to the desired values to fit your site's design.
    Optionally, you can also add an attribute that ensures the iframe will not display a scrollbar by adding this to the opening iframe tag:
    scrolling="no"
    By choosing Object > Insert HTML, you can open a new HTML Code window and embed an iframe anywhere on your site and then set any URL (site address, such as www.google.com) to display a site that is live on the Internet inside it.
    You can also use an iframe to embed animation, such as the HTML5 animations created in Adobe Edge. Find the name of the HTML file created by Adobe Edge and use that file name in your iframe's URL attribute:
    <iframe src="Project-Header-r1v1.html" width="100%" height="100%" scrolling="no">
    </iframe>
