Putting a link inside a PDF

Asking a dumb question here but how do I make an image in my pdf where it is linkable.

Hi - this is easy
- go ahead and select the image that you want to make linkable
- select the hyperlink tab from the insert section
- enter the URL you want the image to link to
That is a quick recap - hopes it helps

  • Can you force a link inside a .pdf to open the "linked to" document in a new window?

When I have a link inside my .pdf document - linking to another .pdf document or to a Word document - how can I force the linked-to document to open in a new window?
I have a web site (business internal, so unfortunately I cannot point to it).  My HTML menu has links to .pdf documents - no problem.  However, once I open those .pdfs, they contain links to other .pdfs and to Word documents.  Clicking on these links, which reside inside my .pdfs, opens the "linked-to" docs in the same page.  How can I force them to open in a brand new frame?
All of my .pdfs were originally created in Word, and in the Word versions, the links DO open into new frames.  I am not sure why, when I convert them to .pdfs, they lose this feature.
    Can anyone help?

    Hi Magenta,
Would you mind reposting this question over on the Acrobat boards?  You've posted in the AIR forum and you'll have better luck with this over there.

  • Pdf links inside another Pdf doesn't work

    Hi,
I am using Adobe Pdf Reader X(10.1.0). I am creating a PDF with html links embedded in it.
Links to normal files works properly (Like server/idcontent/new/ir.html)
But links to another pdf file doesn't work(Like server/idcontent/new/ir.pdf). When clicked on a .pdf link nothing happens. But where as other links works perfectly.
Can any one help me whether I am missing any setting in my Adobe Reader.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ravi.

How exactly are you creating these files?

  • How to create a link in a PDF pointing to PDF attachment in the same document.

I have Acrobat Pro 9.3.1 and I want to create a link inside a PDF document which points to the PDF attachment in the same document. Though I'm able to do this with the help of the documentation at http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Acrobat/8.0/Standard/help.html?content=WS58a04a822e3e50102bd61 5109794195ff-7cad.html but the issue is that whenever I click on the link my original document closes and the attached PDF opens.
Is there a way to open the PDF (attachment) in a new window when user clicks on the link in the parent PDF?

    Hi jeromemonange,
Here is some information about creating hyperlinks in a PDF, both to external sources, such as a website, or to another page within the PDF: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/X/pro/using/WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195ff-7cb7.w .html

  • How do I open hyperlinks inside embedded pdf in a new window?

I have a pdf that contains hyperlinks to other website. This pdf itself is available as a link on a website. When this pdf is loaded in IE window, and user clicks on any of the links inside this PDF, the link opens in the same window. I want all the links to open in a new window.

I'm trying to accomplish this same thing and am having a hell of a time finding the right Class, right Methods, and/or right Properties for a solution.  Some classes seem to return obscure errors when I try to create them use the invoke node "launchURL" (the WMPLib.ICore for example).  If I use the Player base class (which MSDS says is the root class and the class that is used when you create an embedded player) I don't get anything.
What I would like is to progmatically launch Windows Media Player to play a particular video clip in full screen on the secondary monitor.  It seems like this should work:
But doesn't... any ideas for this?  The C# examples are difficult to understand for me.  Also, the WMP class library is a MESS! (IMHO).  Thanks for your input.

    Hi again Raja!
I did as you recommended and installed HTTPWatch and below is the outcome of that program. It is the exact string with the only exception of obfuscated servernames and portnumbers. The last part that begins with "sap_ep_baseurl=" makes me suspicious, is that part really correct? It looks like it's lacking things.

  • 2 Problems - Can't open a PDF inside IE 8, can't open a link in a PDF

I am running Vista Business on a Lenovo ThinkCentre with dual core Intel processor, 2 GB RAM. I have 2 problems with Reader 9.3.0.
First it will not open a PDF inside IE 8. Instead it opens the PDF in a new Reader window. It does open a PDF inside Firefox. In Edit|Preferences|Internet the Display PDF in browser checkbox is checked. In IE 8 Tools|Manage Add-ons|Run without permission Adobe PDF Reader is Enabled.
The second problem is that I cannot open a link in a PDF file. When I place the cursor over an e-mail or internet link in a PDF file the little hand appears. However when I click on the link nothing at all happens.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix either of these problems?
    Ira B.

In the replies I have been receiving, nobody has said which problem of the
two I wrote about they are experiencing. I assume that all are using Vista
(I use Vista business) since neither of these problems appear on my machine
    that runs XP Pro.
I have managed to get around these problems and am happy to share my
experiences with all, but I advise not getting too excited since my solution
may not be exactly what others might want. Of the two problems, the one
where I was unable to open an e-mail or web link in Acrobat Reader was the
more serious for me. I edit a couple of newsletters that almost always
contain some of these links and I need to be able to test them to make sure
they are correct before I send out a newsletter.
I found out that if I used Foxit Reader in place of Acrobat Reader I was
able to open all links with no problems. For a while I had both readers
installed with both able to open PDFs in IE8 but only Foxit able to open
links in a PDF file. Then Foxit Reader began to exhibit the problem of PDFs
not opening in an IE8 browser window. Then the problem spread to Acrobat
reader. I have no idea as to the cause.
I tried removing and re-installing both Readers but was unable to rid myself
of the problem. I then contacted Foxit support for some assistance. Yes,
unlike Adobe, they actually try to help if you are having a problem with
Foxit Reader. Foxit support gave me a procedure to try but it did not work
at first. I finally found out that I had to install Foxit Reader with User
Access Control (UAC) shut off in Vista. If UAC was not shut off, Foxit's
addin for IE8 would not install properly. Then I re-enabled UAC and followed
the procedure Foxit support suggested which is:
    1. Login your machine with admin account, right click on > FoxitReader.exe
    2. Select "Properties"
    3. Select "Compatibility" tab
    4. Uncheck "Run this program as an administrator" under "Privilege Level"
    5. Select "Show settings for all users"
    6. Click on "Continue" if there is a prompt.
    7. Uncheck "Run this program as an administrator" under "Privilege Level".
(This was already unchecked in my case.)
After this Foxit Reader opened PDF files in browser windows in both IE8 and
    Firefox.
I think that this procedure might work for Acrobat Reader; at least I think
it might be worth a try. I don't want to try it myself because my computer
is working just fine right now with Foxit Reader and I don't want to take
the chance of screwing it up since it was so difficult for me to get to this
    point.
If someone would like to try it, I suggest removing Acrobat Reader, then
disabling UAC and re-installing Acrobat Reader. Then enable UAC again. Then
follow the 7 steps above for AcroRd32.exe. I am hopeful, but by no means
certain, that then PDF files will open in an IE8 browser window. I would
appreciate it that, if anyone tries this, they would let me know their
results. I regret not being able to provide a more definitive solution.

  • Links (urls) inside a pdf document are not enabled by the New firefox pdf preview feature but are in Chrome & IE

The new pdf preview feature in firefox desktop does NOT seem to activate any links (urls) inside the pdf meaning they are no longer clickable.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem.
I send out product information using pdf's with clickable links inside (as do lots of businesses) and this loss of clickable links functionality is a problem.
I also tried the same pdf files in IE and Chrome and their inline pdf previews keep all links fully working.
I know the pdf preview in firefox can be deactivated and the adobe reader can be used instead but in reality lots of people won't know how to do this or won't be troubled to find out how and will just move on.
Does anyone know if this feature is going to be fixed or supported or is it a deliberate security feature.
    Thanks.
    JP.

    Hey JPEdwards,
The PDF.js team is still hard at work on the built-in viewer. It looks like there is already a bug on file for this and they are aware of it:
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=821599
Please don't post in the bug if you are just confirming that you've seen the problem too. That clutters the tickets ;)

  • How to link to a page inside a PDF file?

    PDF users,
I can link to a PDF file from a web page, for example, with the <a href> tag. Is there a way to link to somewhere inside the PDF file, for example to a page number or a heading title?
    Yours,
    Michael F
    ========

    Hi,
I lost track of this note but I need to revisit the nameddest option.  I can get the page option to work but would like to link to chapter headings to avoid having to adjust the page options whenever the page count changes.
I am using Acrobat XI and generate PDF bookmarks from Framemaker 12. The file opens with the bookmark panel to the left and content to the right. I don't see the Named Destination panel that you mentioned. On the left there are icons for page thumbnails, bookmarks, attachments, and signatures.
I display the bookmarks panel and adjust the content of the bookmark labels as needed. With the right click menu, I use Set Destination to adjust the part of the page that displays at the top of the panel.
Now could you tell me exactly how this nameddest option works?
For example, I have a PDF file with "2: Introduction": as the bookmark that opens to the first page of chapter 2, which is on page 21.  The link in the web page is:
    <p>For an introduction, refer to <a href="docs/93-0967-0.pdf" target="_blank">chapter 2</a>
What do I need to do to make the link go to that chapter?
    Yours,
    Michael F

How can I do that? I think it isn't a web content, what is it?
Thanks in advance for you collaboration.

    Dear Bob,

Now, I'm looking for that example inside the DPS Tips, but I can't find it anymore. Have you removed the article?
