Putting a page cache as old

Hi, we are caching page definition & content, but at sometimes
we want to force a recalculation programmatically, i.e., to put
the page cache as old.
I tried to used the wwutl_api_cache package, but it (silently)
doesn't change anything. We are using Portal 3.0.9.8.
Any clues?

okay-- so the path is wrong.
Open the page for editing in dreamweaver.
Select that link with the mouse.
In the Properties Inspector, use the folder icon next to the
Link box to
browse to the correct file.

Firefox pulls up a cached version of my homepage (a cyclone warning/tracking page) showing me old information. Now I have surprise damage from a storm I should have known about, how do I get it to not cache this page?

I set my homepage to the Navy Research Labs tropical cyclone warning page so I can be sure to see developing storms every time I start my browser, but now it simply caches a version of the page. The cached page that shows old information, defeating my purpose. How can I get firefox not to display a the cached version of this page by default? (Yes, obviously I already know I can refresh the page each time. That is NOT my question)

If you leave tabs open to have them displayed automatically on the next start then you need to clear the browser cache when you close Firefox to prevent showing a cached version.

Clear Page cache

Hello,
I have a small question
In my application, i have a Quick Search page, where the user can search throug all the data. On this page I have a 'Clear Cache For Current Application' process, and I call it on Once per session, or when reset pressed.
The problem is that when the user goes to another page in the application, and then get back to that search page, the old searching results are still there.
I would like to clear the page every time, when the user navigates to some other page, so that when the go back to the search page, it will be clear.
I have a solution for that problem, but it is too clumsy. I created a Clear process on all other pages, so that when the user opens them, the search page is automatically cleared. But I have to clreate this clear process to every single other page.
Do you think there is some other earier way to get the page cleared after navigating away from it?!?

I tried to do something like that, but i guess I am not doing something right... It just is not workin...
thats what i am doing:
I created a new process on the search page
Type: Clear Cache for all Items on Pages (PageID,PageID,PageID)
Put Search Page# as sorce (33)
then on 'Conditional Processing' selcted 'Current Page is NOT in Exp 1'
And there i put again 33 (search page number)
And when i navigate to some other page, and go back to the serch page, it still doesnt clear it.
I tried without condition, and it clears it on every load/refresh...
I dont get what m i doing wrong.....

Clear page cache every time page is opened

I have a menu page in Apex that points to 10 report pages. However each page retains the values in parameters. How can I clear the page cache every time I go from menu to individual report page? I see the CLEAR_PAGE_CACHE procedure but don't know where to place the call. I guess I haven't understood the event model of the Apex completely yet (I am from the Oracle Forms background).

Jay,
You don't say how these links on the menu page are constructed. If you are using an apex list then for each list entry there would be a target page section in which you would put the target page ID in the Clear Cache field. For example, if the link goes to a page in the current application, say page 10, then you'd put 10 in the Clear Cache field.
If you are building a link yourself, just put 10 (for page 10) in the clear-cache position of the f?p URL, e.g.,
f?p=&APP_ID.:10:&APP_SESSION.::NO:10:P10_ITEM:&SOME_ITEM.

Why is the application caching the old jar file

Hi all
I have an application that is caching the old jar file.
even when i reboot.
when the application starts up it appears to pick up the old jar file.
any idea on how i can let it pick up the new jar file ?

I'm pretty sure that it is just this one .jar file.
You see I changed a Servlet class in the jar file and messed up the application.
Now I'm putting back the old jar file and guess what
it's somehow hanging on to this old servlet class. and showing the same error. What is unique is that I did the same thing on another PC a server edition and it let go of the old Servlet with no problem
but on my PC a professional edition it is hanging onto that old Servlet even though I deleted every instance of it on the PC , shut down the PC and restart the app. I even deleted the old jar file from the recycle bin. the jar file has a very distinct name so i can easily search for it and
This app uses tomcat as well - not that that's related.
I have had this problem happen to me before at home with applet. I would change something and it would just hang on to it forever.
Anybody has any idea how to go into the registry or some other place and get rid of this servlet class or jar file ?

I updated to a new version of pages and the old icon is still appearing on my dashboard...Where do I find the new pages icon??

I am sorry you are experiencing difficulties with your EPSON Stylus Photo RX580. Unfortunately this feature is not available with Mac OS X. You will need a third-party software that will help you with this, such as Poster Print for Mac or Tiler. Please note though that Epson does not support these applications.
So I guess my question becomes what software can I use to print my images on multiple pages. As I do large photo transfers I need to be able to do this with my mac in an efficient way and not try to cut portions of image into seperate print jobs that would be too time consuming. HAve you had any experience with other software. If not I guess the next question what printer would you recommend that would do this with my MAC. I have included a pic of one of my larger transfers on a cupboard. To do this I needed the image to be tiled on 8 different sheet of 8.5x11 so this is a feature I need through either software or a printer that is easy to use and easily accessible. Thanks Krista

The footer is not only to the left. To get the page number to the right you can use Format > Align right. That will make all page numbers move to the right. Is that what you want?

You do a restore as new to wipe the iPhone then at the end of restore you will be asked to restore from backup. Choose your iPhone backup.
Note you cannot restore an IOS newer than the IOS on iPhone, you need to update iPhone first.

Can I stop iWeb from putting a page name at the top?

I don't want page names across the top in iWeb. I have a list of hyperlinked icons on the side for that.

The script is for the text in the browser title bar.
The title is taken from the large textbox at the top of each webpage.
If that box is missing or empty, iWeb uses a next textbox for the title.
If that is missing too, the pagename is used for the title.
If you want the title in the titlebar but not the large textbox on your page, select the textbox, do Cm-T and drag the font-size slider to the bottom.
Then click the color next to the T-icon and drag that opacity slider to the left (0).
Then resize the textbox to it minimun size and drag it out of view. And don't forget you did.
But I think the OP means the navigation links at the top.

My old phone has NEVER had any Apple ID other than mine log into it, and the new one's a sealed box that I've opened and set up from scratch. Can anyone please explain this? I'm worried there's some kind of problem with my iCloud data being mixed with someone else's or something... Since I logged in with my own ID, it's downloaded the data perfectly fine, but I just got the Apple ID prompt again a moment ago with this same hotmail address in it... I'd be very grateful for any explanation!

In iTunes on your computer, select the Purchased section under STORE in the left column. Click on the first track and choose "Get Info" from the "File" menu.
In the "Summary" tab you'll see details of the purchaser of the track. Click Next to go through all your purchased music one by one until you find the ones you need to get rid of.

Thank you, but after an hour with apple support on the phone we came to the conclusion that the documents are lost... So the lesson is, don't trust icloud as a back up solution! A month worth of work down the drain...

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Note: Apple has removed over 90 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

Pros and Cons of putting jspx pages under WEB-INF

Greetings All,
I have been using JHeadstart release 10.1.3 Prod for a while now and was generating pages in various subdirectories under WEB-INF/pages/ and things are working fine.
However, recently I came across a post in jDeveloper forum Re: Access JSF Pages within WEB-INF directory where Frank Nimphius has mentioned that there is no sense in putting JSP files that are used with JSF into WEB-INF.
I know that in struts world it makes sense to put the jsp files under WEB-INF to prevent the users from directly accessing them and force them to access them only via struts actions/navigation rules; but in JSF world we anyway expose the jspx names to the user and in-fact if we keep the pages under WEB-INF the url to access the pages also contains 'faces/WEB-INF/...'
Thus, I would like to get opinion from various experienced professionals participating in this forum and more so from JHeadStart team members on Pros and Cons of putting jspx pages under WEB-INF

From your reply it seems that, for now, there should not be any impact on us as long as we don't upgrade to JDeveloper 10.1.3.1, as anyway the current JHS version is not certified against it.

No, Service Update 1 has a different default value for the pages dir , it is now /pages/ instead of /WEB-INF/page/, that's all.
Also, with this patch, will we be able to upgrade to jDeveloper 10.1.3.1, which we would like to do once we have a production release?

Solaris 8 cyclical page cache

I have read Sun's article about Solaris 8 cyclical page cache, but still don't understand how it works.
It did not mention how does kernel devide memory between the IO page buffer cache and applications.
Is it is first come, first served basis?
Is there any way to size the IO page buffer cache?
When app needs a page, and there are none any available, does it take it from IO buffer cache?
Does it mean that IO page cache will be 0 in size if application requires all physical memory?
In short, what is the algorithm?
I see me database application swap the executable/data parts heavily. It looks like it is due to kernel page cache competing for memory with the app. So, the problem is still not fixed after introduction of "priority paging" in Solaris 2.7 and "cyclical page cache" in Solaris 8?

It will gradually use all memory except for a meg or so as page cache.
Thats what solaris does, if theres any memory thats not being used for actual work, it figures it might as well use it as page cache.
But the page cache will be released immediately if anything else wants the memory.
So you can think of the page cache pretty much as free memory. If fact most solaris tool simply report the page cache as part of the free memory.
So why would you want to limit the page cache?
